Thanks Ricky, appreciate that! There are some weird quirks with certain apps - UA-cam will never work over Android Auto or CarPlay but if you hook up your phone just through bluetooth you'll be able to play it no problem

It'll be mixed throughout the presets but you could always save the first few pages as SiriusXM stations and then the later pages for traditional radio
When in the navigation screen I go to the tools icon to look at the weather….. I get “must go to connectivity”. But that is not working… Weather is greyed out…is this an upsell option?
It's based on the connected services. Depending on your build you'd either have 3 months or 3 years of connected navigation that includes live traffic and weather. How long ago did you pick up your Edge?

@@CarsWithSteve I picked it up last Friday. I have a 2022 Bronco on order but I needed a vehicle until the Bronco arrives, which is likely not until the end of the year or into next year. This Edge had just arrived at my dealership and my salesman called me to come check it out as it would have sold that day. I was able to lease it until the Bronco arrives. There are almost no new vehicles on the lots in some dealerships here!
@@CalgaryGuy71 Great that they were able to get you into something short term! What build did you go for on your Bronco? Inventory is pretty low across the board for all the brands I work with. Ford recently started limiting the stock inventory for dealers as well until this chip mess is sorted out
You technically could but the cost wouldn’t make sense. You’d have to find the part, get it installed and then programmed for your car. Are you just looking for wireless android auto and Apple car play?
@@Rashawd Definitely cheaper looking at an aftermarket deck. Look for car audio shops in your area but it shouldn't be more than $750 installed for a deck with wireless car play

You're welcome! Odd that it cuts out like clockwork. I've heard a few people mention it just stops working altogether but not just stopping every few weeks. Could try a soft system reboot by pressing the Volume Down and Seek Right buttons on the steering wheel for 10 seconds. That should reboot the screen without wiping any data
Oh that's a weird one.. if you tap the screen and nothing shows up then there's something up with the display. You'll need to take it into the dealer for them to reset it or potentially replace if necessary

You might have a 90 day or 3 year trial of connected services depending on the build of your Edge. Assuming your subscription is active the weather and traffic should show up on the map automatically...

When we go in to it it has a list of places already set up like work, home etc.... how do we set up a destination with someones name like Lauries House etc? Also we punched in an address and it is taking us through 95 and 495 how can we get another route that would not take us that way? Would really appreciate your help? Thank you so much!
Hey! Once you have an address saved if you click to edit it there will be an option for you to edit the name as well. As for selecting a route that's available when you search for an address there's an icon with split arrows pointing up - pressing that will let you select the route you want to take
I am the owner of a 2021 Ford Edge equipped with the sync4 system. I saw in the Ford videos that you could configure driver id. Unfortunately I can't find a way to do it. Since the last update (Alexa) I have an error message: The driver ID has been disabled or has not been configured by the fleet manager. Do you have any idea how to set up the Driver ID. I just traded my 2019 lease for a 2022. I have had to disconnect and reconnect my phone so many times. CarPlay stops working. If I shut it off it’s not auto connected to Bluetooth I have to select it in the list. The Alexa I’ve had to register like 30 times , seems every time I shut my car off it forgets it, it doesn’t work when driving I don’t get the point of the Alexa feature. The connectivity was much easier on the 2019. I regret getting this model
Unfortunate that you keep having issues with your Edge. What model iPhone do you have? Have you tried it with any other phone and if so does it give you the same issues? Here are some basics you can try.. perform a factory reset on the car under Settings, removing your vehicle from the phone and then reconnecting and making sure your phone is up to date. You can also have the dealer check it out to see if there's something up with the media screen itself.
If it's paired the bluetooth connection should be there. Is the option not showing under sources? If not, try deleting the phone and then adding it in again
Hey Steve. Great video! Question though. Is there a way to lock in the distance setting on the navigation without everyday having to do it with the pinch to zoom in or out? Over night it always goes back to 200 feet. Thank you sir!
Thanks Eddie! That sounds like Sync4 isn't storing all settings properly. I'd contact the dealer or Ford directly and let them know. It should be an easy fix for an OTA update
Really frustrated ... trying to connect new portable CD player. (Monodeal) ... Can't locate a headphone-mp3 jack. When I plug it into USB I'm not given the option to choose USB as a source, so figure device isn't recognized. Device is not Bluetooth enabled. Disappointing that Ford is making all my devices unusable. Any recommendations? Thanks.
Your best bet is to use either Pandora or LiveXLive to stream from your phone. Connect over Bluetooth! You’d use your data though. You could always get your CD’s onto a Bluetooth enabled MP3 player or to your phone to play through the car that way! Or you could get the songs in mp3 format on a USB stick and then plug that in to play over Bluetooth. So many options
Hi Steve, When I press the phone tab, there a favourite box. What is this for. I thought it is to save your the favourite list of contacts to call. If so, how do you do it.
Hey George! The favourite button lets you set a specific function when pressed. I don’t believe launching into your phone contacts is an option. If you press the favourite button it’ll give you an option to edit and you can choose between available functions
Love your videos. Recently purchased a 2022 Ford edge st with the help of your vids. Question. Ambient light. Every time I exit the vehicle and re enter I have to turn on the ambient lights. How I get them to stay on? Anyway to save to my profile or key fob or something? When I use my fob, shouldn't the seats, ambient lights and so in go back to those settings? Thank you
Thanks Erick, hope you're loving the ST so far! Does the ambient light setting in the media screen turn off every time you turn the car off? Do you have the lights (just to the left of the steering wheel) in auto mode or one of the other options? For the seats, have you set up the seat using the memory setting on the door?
@@CarsWithSteve love the ST. Yes, my seats are programmed to memory 1. Lights on Auto. If my wife uses the car and adjusts the seats, using my fob won't return them to memory 1. Have to push memory 1. For ambient. Lights are on auto. It's just that every time or most every time I turn on the car I have to go in and turn on ambient lights, even with headlights on at night.
@@erickcooper6769 It shouldn't turn itself off every time so that could just be a bug. I'm shooting an update version of the Sync4 screen in the next week or so but I'll see if I can recreate the ambient light issue and find a workaround. Memory seats wouldn't be tied to the keyfob unfortunately but I'll add that to the list of things to look at in the updated 2022 video

Thanks Sharon! That's a great question but unfortunately outside of the day/night mode there's no way to change the theme of the Sync media screen. I'm hoping Ford pays attention to your comment because it would be easy to implement and could really let people personalize their screen

Hey Steve. I have a Samsung galaxy s8. My brand new 2021 Ford Edge keeps dropping phone calls & when reconnects I can barely hear the person on the call. Then the call won't hang up for several minutes. Any ideas as to what is going on? Thanks
Have you tried connecting with another phone to see if you have that same issue? Give that a try and if it's still acting up you can try a few things first: 1. Make sure your vehicle software is up to date. Settings --> Updates 2. Update your phone software 3. If none of that helps, you can reset all settings to factory and try connect again or have the techs take a look when it goes in for the next service appt
Sync 4 and my Samsung Galaxy S8 are not playing nice. The bluetooth keeps getting disconnected. Should I be able to plug my phone into the USB to bypass the need for bluetooth to get Android Auto to work? Android Auto worked for 3 days and now will not connect wirelessly. I haven't tried USB ... yet.
@@srose110858 Hmm I wonder if it's the dated phone that's doing it. I know in early versions of wireless Android Auto/Apple Car Play there wasn't universal compatibility Intermittent issues could be something wrong with a module. You can also try performing a factory reset and seeing if that solves the issue. If it doesn't I'd book it in for a service appt
Purchased 2022 Ford Edge Titanium how do you move through your favorites on sirius xm using your steering wheel controls. I have tried using steering wheel controls but it changes between am-fm and sirius am radio very frustrated trying to use steering wheel controls...
The steering wheel buttons will move you through presets if they're pressed quickly. If you do a press and hold you'll be able to seek through stations instead!
If yours is equipped with factory navigation you can press the button on the very top of the screen in the middle (6 dots). That'll bring up a drop down menu where you can select navigation. If you're on the home page there are boxes just above the climate control settings you can swipe across to look for navigation as well
Make sure that CarPlay is turned on for your Syn4 on your phone. In your iPhone go to Settings -> General -> CarPlay Find Sync4 and make sure CarPlay is enabled then try to reconnect. If that doesn’t work then delete the phone from your phone and the car and add it in again. If that doesn’t work, perform a master reset on your Sync4 screen. That will also wipe out your presets though
I find it works better as the years progress. Sync4 factory nav is great - but either way you could hook up Android Auto or CarPlay for your phone map apps

Thanks Kevin! Have you tried using different devices and if so does it give the same issue? Does the vehicle recognize your voice when using the voice command button to change stations, navigate etc? Few basic things to try... 1. Make sure your phone and Sync4 are up to date 2. Delete and then re-add phone to see if it solves the issue 3. Perform a factory reset and add the phone to see if it's fixed 4. Schedule it in for maintenance

Yes you can! That's one thing I haven't covered off in my videos yet but I'll put one together explaining the process the next time I'm in an Edge Quick explainer.. download the FordPass app on your phone. Scan or type the VIN and give it 5 - 10 mins to connect
You'd have to print out a PDF version of the manual from Ford's website. Unfortunately there aren't any printed manuals for Ford vehicles that have the new Sync4 media screen
Hey Steve my pre collision assist came on on the dash & my cruise control won’t work. Do you have any ideas? We checked the sensors nothing blocking it!
@@CarsWithSteve yes the cruise control worked from the time we got the 2021 Edge in November 2021 up until the beginning of June then stopped working. If you pull it up on the dash menu it’s not even highlighted now as an option. We also had a problem with the 10 1/2” touch screen that runs gps, sync, air conditioner it would go black & be really hot. They think might be Apim but global shortage on that. It’s so frustrating with a car that only has 5.000 miles on it.
Can I somehow swap my older 2020 Edge 8 inch infotainment system with this new 2021 Edge 12 inch one? I know it will cost a good amount but I want this in my 2020 Ford Edge.
If you could find a scrapped one and a dealer or authorized mechanic will to do the work so that it wouldn't affect the warranty. Cost would be pretty high but you never know until you ask
Hi Steve, I have a new 2022 SEL. My iPhone 7s (I know it’s ancient) will connect with CarPlay but will disconnect after a few minutes. For example, I was driving using Waze and after about 15 minutes the navigation screen froze but the voice could still be heard. Are other people having similar problems with the 2022 edge or is it my old phone?
No judgment here, I'm still using an iPhone 7 plus haha. Are your phone and vehicle on the most recent update? I haven't heard of anyone or seen anything in forums of people having that issue. Few basic trouble shooting things you could do.. remove the phone from your vehicle and forget the car in your phone bluetooth, then reconnect it and setup CarPlay again. You can also try a factory reset and then reconnect
We just bought a 22 edge titanium with sync4 but no factory navigation. Our salesman set up our phones. On 2nd day neither phone would connect at all. We have to use Apple Car Play for navigation. I even tried to delete both phones but the system wouldn’t let that happen. So frustrated with this! Any suggestions? Thanks
Odd that the phone isn't being deleted.. assuming you've followed the delete example I gave in this video (it's just after the Android Auto section)? Few things that you could try.. 1. Perform a soft reboot - Press and hold both the Volume Down and Seek Right buttons on the steering wheel controls for 10 seconds. That should turn the screen off and then bring it back up again 2. Try deleting the phone from the vehicle and the vehicle connection from the phone. Then on your iPhone go to Settings --> General --> CarPlay and delete the phone connection from there before trying to reconnect
Yes Steve, I deleted off phone and off car. I reinstalled and got everything working. As soon as I turned off vehicle all was lost neither phone would connect again. So frustrating!!
On your phone if you go to Bluetooth under My Devices, have you tried clicking on the connection with your car to connect? I find that auto connect doesn’t like to work
I notice that at 4:18 after pairing the phone, it says in the left button panel titled Bluetooth Phone, the status states "Not Available" Why is that ? Is it a limitation of Sync ?
The phone can't be connected to the vehicle via Bluetooth and Apple Car Play/Android Auto at the same time. It's either or so if connecting to Car Play your bluetooth connection would be disconnected from the vehicle to let Car Play work
Not all features were carried over across all Sync4 models. Honestly, your best bet is to contact Ford Canada or USA and tell them. The more they hear what customers want, the better chance of those features showing up
Oh that's an interesting scenario I haven't tried yet. In theory it should work because you can play other audio sources while connect to Car Play - will have to test that one out and get back to you
I moved from a 2019 ST to a 2021 ST. BTW, the numbers in notes is a calculator and there's tic tac toe. Question: There's no changing ambient color in the 21?

Everything is updated. Having other issues too. The ventilation in the driver seat rattles. I think they should have not removed several items that was on the 2019, I miss the ability to close the center consoles on top and under the radio. And I miss the two buttons for the arm rest storage. Now it just had a tray. Don't like it. Could the dealer replace those types of items with an older model's part?
@@alanarnold1363 Get that rattle checked out under your factory warranty next time it's in for service. Not sure about whether the arm rest tray from a 2020 would fit a 2021.. could always ask the dealer. Finding the part shouldn't be hard and if it fits it may cost you a few bucks to get that added in

@@CarsWithSteve - the ones up on the top right - there is the time and temp, on looks like wi-fi and possibly how much the phone is charged. It is the up and down arrows and the other one that looks like a pointer - There is no where in the world (aka internet) that it explains what they indicate.

Tune to the station that you want to save. Then in your radio presets simply press and hold a station you want to replace until it locks the new station in!

Great question Richard.. The Nautilus and Edge are assembled in Oakville and Ford currently has active contracts with the plant until 2023 to continue building. There's no indication whether it will be extended or not. Having said that, Ford announced back in February that they received government of Canada funding to invest in electrifying the plant with the goal of turning it into an EV production plant. There are 3 possible scenarios.. Ford will shift production to another plant, electrify the Edge/Nautilus or discontinue it. Won't know for sure until early to mid next year though
They're 2 different systems so you can just plug and play for it to work. You could technically do a screen swap if you find the new Sync4 screen by itself but then you'd need to program it for the previous gen. Honestly it would be a huge pain and cost wouldn't make sense to do it
Have you had an experience when connected to CarPlay where it won't dial 911? From my understanding of 911 assist, Sync will search for and connect to a previously paired cellphone and then attempt to call emergency services

Things have changed quite a bit since I have working .. but as I was watching your Video I kept an eye on the 911 star up in the upper right hand corner … and while CarPlay was enabled the 911 Star would vanish .. also I just bought my 2021 Ford Titanium yesterday … I had CarPlay going and while I enabled CarPlay it had a screen pop up which said that while CarPlay was enabled the phone would be disconnected … something like that .. So I watched your VID”S and the 911 Star was gone when you had CarPlay enabled..
@@CarverEngraver Great catch on the icon disappearing. In theory if you're connected to CarPlay or Android Auto and you're in a collision the vehicle should automatically attempt to connect to a previously connected phone that was setup via bluetooth. I haven't been in a collision in a Ford so I can't tell you for sure from real world experience but that's the way it should work
@@CarsWithSteve yeah I just bought this Ford Edge yesterday .. Traded in My Ford F-150 Lariat 4 x 4 … Retired from Ford in St Louis.. in 2006 husband in 2002 .. he was there 36 yrs .. myself 11 .. Things have become more digital and getting older doesn’t help but working in Quality .. helps me find things like this .. I also believe the front windshield on the visor needs tinting as when the sun comes in ,its blinding .. I find this a must in quality ..

@@user-mz5tf5pm7u With the exception of the occasional screen lagging there weren't many complaints about the Sync3 system from the previous gen Explorer. It's a bit early to tell if the screen will hold up over time but I'm not aware of any issues with the screen just yet - but the screen is covered under the manufacturer's warranty

Hey Steve, I have a question, my step Father just bought the 2021 Ford Edge. We have a question about the navigation system. When we go in to it it has a list of places already set up like work, home etc.... how do we set up a destination with someones name like Lauries House etc? Also we punched in an address and it is taking us through 95 and 495 how can we get another route that would not take us that way? Would really appreciate your help? Thank you so much!
Hey! Once you have an address saved if you click to edit it there will be an option for you to edit the name as well.
As for selecting a route that's available when you search for an address there's an icon with split arrows pointing up - pressing that will let you select the route you want to take

How rouse the navigation system on Ford Edge 2022
I didn't realize until this comment that I didn't include using factory navigation in this video. I'll reshoot on a 2022 model and have that up ASAP
I am the owner of a 2021 Ford Edge equipped with the sync4 system. I saw in the Ford videos that you could configure driver id. Unfortunately I can't find a way to do it. Since the last update (Alexa) I have an error message: The driver ID has been disabled or has not been configured by the fleet manager. Do you have any idea how to set up the Driver ID. Thanks for this nice video.
The standard Sync 4 system in the Edge doesn't have the user profile option - it would be under Settings --> User Profile if it was there...
My 2021 ford edge clock is all of a sudden wrong and I can't find a way to fix it.
If you press the time on the screen it'll launch your clock settings where you can adjust it as needed!
Is it me or has the same sound and voice as the myford touch? Which it was great imo

I just traded my 2019 lease for a 2022. I have had to disconnect and reconnect my phone so many times. CarPlay stops working. If I shut it off it’s not auto connected to Bluetooth I have to select it in the list. The Alexa I’ve had to register like 30 times , seems every time I shut my car off it forgets it, it doesn’t work when driving I don’t get the point of the Alexa feature. The connectivity was much easier on the 2019. I regret getting this model
Unfortunate that you keep having issues with your Edge. What model iPhone do you have? Have you tried it with any other phone and if so does it give you the same issues?
Here are some basics you can try.. perform a factory reset on the car under Settings, removing your vehicle from the phone and then reconnecting and making sure your phone is up to date.
You can also have the dealer check it out to see if there's something up with the media screen itself.
My media is not connected and my Bluetooth on my iphone is not connected what could be the problem because my iphone is paired to my vehicle 2022 Edge
If it's paired the bluetooth connection should be there. Is the option not showing under sources?
If not, try deleting the phone and then adding it in again
Hey Steve. Great video! Question though. Is there a way to lock in the distance setting on the navigation without everyday having to do it with the pinch to zoom in or out? Over night it always goes back to 200 feet.

Thanks Eddie! That sounds like Sync4 isn't storing all settings properly. I'd contact the dealer or Ford directly and let them know. It should be an easy fix for an OTA update
Really frustrated ... trying to connect new portable CD player. (Monodeal) ... Can't locate a headphone-mp3 jack. When I plug it into USB I'm not given the option to choose USB as a source, so figure device isn't recognized. Device is not Bluetooth enabled. Disappointing that Ford is making all my devices unusable. Any recommendations? Thanks.
Your best bet is to use either Pandora or LiveXLive to stream from your phone. Connect over Bluetooth! You’d use your data though.
You could always get your CD’s onto a Bluetooth enabled MP3 player or to your phone to play through the car that way!
Or you could get the songs in mp3 format on a USB stick and then plug that in to play over Bluetooth. So many options
Hi Steve, When I press the phone tab, there a favourite box. What is this for. I thought it is to save your the favourite list of contacts to call. If so, how do you do it.
Hey George! The favourite button lets you set a specific function when pressed. I don’t believe launching into your phone contacts is an option. If you press the favourite button it’ll give you an option to edit and you can choose between available functions
Love your videos. Recently purchased a 2022 Ford edge st with the help of your vids. Question. Ambient light. Every time I exit the vehicle and re enter I have to turn on the ambient lights. How I get them to stay on? Anyway to save to my profile or key fob or something? When I use my fob, shouldn't the seats, ambient lights and so in go back to those settings? Thank you
Thanks Erick, hope you're loving the ST so far! Does the ambient light setting in the media screen turn off every time you turn the car off? Do you have the lights (just to the left of the steering wheel) in auto mode or one of the other options?
For the seats, have you set up the seat using the memory setting on the door?
@@CarsWithSteve love the ST. Yes, my seats are programmed to memory 1. Lights on Auto. If my wife uses the car and adjusts the seats, using my fob won't return them to memory 1. Have to push memory 1. For ambient. Lights are on auto. It's just that every time or most every time I turn on the car I have to go in and turn on ambient lights, even with headlights on at night.
@@erickcooper6769 It shouldn't turn itself off every time so that could just be a bug. I'm shooting an update version of the Sync4 screen in the next week or so but I'll see if I can recreate the ambient light issue and find a workaround.
Memory seats wouldn't be tied to the keyfob unfortunately but I'll add that to the list of things to look at in the updated 2022 video

Thanks Sharon! That's a great question but unfortunately outside of the day/night mode there's no way to change the theme of the Sync media screen. I'm hoping Ford pays attention to your comment because it would be easy to implement and could really let people personalize their screen

Hey Steve. I have a Samsung galaxy s8. My brand new 2021 Ford Edge keeps dropping phone calls & when reconnects I can barely hear the person on the call. Then the call won't hang up for several minutes. Any ideas as to what is going on? Thanks
Have you tried connecting with another phone to see if you have that same issue? Give that a try and if it's still acting up you can try a few things first:
1. Make sure your vehicle software is up to date. Settings --> Updates
2. Update your phone software
3. If none of that helps, you can reset all settings to factory and try connect again or have the techs take a look when it goes in for the next service appt
Sync 4 and my Samsung Galaxy S8 are not playing nice. The bluetooth keeps getting disconnected. Should I be able to plug my phone into the USB to bypass the need for bluetooth to get Android Auto to work? Android Auto worked for 3 days and now will not connect wirelessly. I haven't tried USB ... yet.
BTW - Phone and Sync are both up to date.
@@srose110858 Hmm I wonder if it's the dated phone that's doing it. I know in early versions of wireless Android Auto/Apple Car Play there wasn't universal compatibility
Intermittent issues could be something wrong with a module. You can also try performing a factory reset and seeing if that solves the issue. If it doesn't I'd book it in for a service appt

Purchased 2022 Ford Edge Titanium how do you move through your favorites on sirius xm using your steering wheel controls. I have tried using steering wheel controls but it changes between am-fm and sirius am radio very frustrated trying to use steering wheel controls...
The steering wheel buttons will move you through presets if they're pressed quickly. If you do a press and hold you'll be able to seek through stations instead!
How you get to the navigation.
If yours is equipped with factory navigation you can press the button on the very top of the screen in the middle (6 dots). That'll bring up a drop down menu where you can select navigation.
If you're on the home page there are boxes just above the climate control settings you can swipe across to look for navigation as well

I changed my phone and now it doesn’t let me connect my new phone to car play it only lets me use Bluetooth. Please help
Make sure that CarPlay is turned on for your Syn4 on your phone. In your iPhone go to
Settings -> General -> CarPlay
Find Sync4 and make sure CarPlay is enabled then try to reconnect.
If that doesn’t work then delete the phone from your phone and the car and add it in again.
If that doesn’t work, perform a master reset on your Sync4 screen. That will also wipe out your presets though
Is the navigation system better than in SYNC 3 in the older models?
I find it works better as the years progress. Sync4 factory nav is great - but either way you could hook up Android Auto or CarPlay for your phone map apps

Thanks Kevin! Have you tried using different devices and if so does it give the same issue? Does the vehicle recognize your voice when using the voice command button to change stations, navigate etc?
Few basic things to try...
1. Make sure your phone and Sync4 are up to date
2. Delete and then re-add phone to see if it solves the issue
3. Perform a factory reset and add the phone to see if it's fixed
4. Schedule it in for maintenance

Yes to all the above... We tried them all except the scheduled visit which we will do tomorrow. This edition of Edge is the elite..(brother 😆). I will follow up and let you know what the solution was. I'm driving the Ranger 2021 and dig it big time. It doesn't have on board navigation. I'm trying your suggestion to try Android Auto. You'd have to print out a PDF version of the manual from Ford's website. Unfortunately there aren't any printed manuals for Ford vehicles that have the new Sync4 media screen

@@CarsWithSteve yes the cruise control worked from the time we got the 2021 Edge in November 2021 up until the beginning of June then stopped working. If you pull it up on the dash menu it’s not even highlighted now as an option. We also had a problem with the 10 1/2” touch screen that runs gps, sync, air conditioner it would go black & be really hot. They think might be Apim but global shortage on that. It’s so frustrating with a car that only has 5.000 miles on it.
I didn’t see in this vid where I’m told how to delete/add presets. Did I miss it?
You can override them or perform a master reset.. but once the preset is saved it can't just be deleted...

Can I somehow swap my older 2020 Edge 8 inch infotainment system with this new 2021 Edge 12 inch one? I know it will cost a good amount but I want this in my 2020 Ford Edge.
If you could find a scrapped one and a dealer or authorized mechanic will to do the work so that it wouldn't affect the warranty. Cost would be pretty high but you never know until you ask
Hi Steve, I have a new 2022 SEL. My iPhone 7s (I know it’s ancient) will connect with CarPlay but will disconnect after a few minutes. For example, I was driving using Waze and after about 15 minutes the navigation screen froze but the voice could still be heard. Are other people having similar problems with the 2022 edge or is it my old phone?
No judgment here, I'm still using an iPhone 7 plus haha. Are your phone and vehicle on the most recent update?
I haven't heard of anyone or seen anything in forums of people having that issue.
Few basic trouble shooting things you could do.. remove the phone from your vehicle and forget the car in your phone bluetooth, then reconnect it and setup CarPlay again. You can also try a factory reset and then reconnect
I have an iPhone 12 and have had so many connection issues. I’ve had to completely remove and re add my phone so m at times. I’m missing my 2019
We just bought a 22 edge titanium with sync4 but no factory navigation. Our salesman set up our phones. On 2nd day neither phone would connect at all. We have to use Apple Car Play for navigation. I even tried to delete both phones but the system wouldn’t let that happen. So frustrated with this! Any suggestions? Thanks
Odd that the phone isn't being deleted.. assuming you've followed the delete example I gave in this video (it's just after the Android Auto section)? Few things that you could try..
1. Perform a soft reboot - Press and hold both the Volume Down and Seek Right buttons on the steering wheel controls for 10 seconds. That should turn the screen off and then bring it back up again
2. Try deleting the phone from the vehicle and the vehicle connection from the phone. Then on your iPhone go to Settings --> General --> CarPlay and delete the phone connection from there before trying to reconnect
Yes Steve, I deleted off phone and off car. I reinstalled and got everything working. As soon as I turned off vehicle all was lost neither phone would connect again. So frustrating!!

I notice that at 4:18 after pairing the phone, it says in the left button panel titled Bluetooth Phone, the status states "Not Available" Why is that ? Is it a limitation of Sync ?
The phone can't be connected to the vehicle via Bluetooth and Apple Car Play/Android Auto at the same time. It's either or so if connecting to Car Play your bluetooth connection would be disconnected from the vehicle to let Car Play work
Why don't we have our own apps tab in sync 4a like sync 4,sync 3 and touchscreens of other carmakers
Not all features were carried over across all Sync4 models. Honestly, your best bet is to contact Ford Canada or USA and tell them. The more they hear what customers want, the better chance of those features showing up

Oh that's an interesting scenario I haven't tried yet. In theory it should work because you can play other audio sources while connect to Car Play - will have to test that one out and get back to you

Depends on how old.. if you're connecting a USB cable and it won't display then it's not supported. But you could always get a 3.5m to FM transmitter
I moved from a 2019 ST to a 2021 ST. BTW, the numbers in notes is a calculator and there's tic tac toe. Question: There's no changing ambient color in the 21?

Everything is updated. Having other issues too. The ventilation in the driver seat rattles. I think they should have not removed several items that was on the 2019, I miss the ability to close the center consoles on top and under the radio. And I miss the two buttons for the arm rest storage. Now it just had a tray. Don't like it. Could the dealer replace those types of items with an older model's part?
@@alanarnold1363 Get that rattle checked out under your factory warranty next time it's in for service. Not sure about whether the arm rest tray from a 2020 would fit a 2021.. could always ask the dealer. Finding the part shouldn't be hard and if it fits it may cost you a few bucks to get that added in

@@CarsWithSteve - the ones up on the top right - there is the time and temp, on looks like wi-fi and possibly how much the phone is charged. It is the up and down arrows and the other one that looks like a pointer - There is no where in the world (aka internet) that it explains what they indicate.

Bottom right: Temperature
Bottom middle: Wifi available (when question mark shows a connection is available otherwise you're connected)

How do I change the preset fm & am stations..none are my local stations
Tune to the station that you want to save. Then in your radio presets simply press and hold a station you want to replace until it locks the new station in!

Steve, have you heard the Edge is being discontinued in 2023?
Great question Richard.. The Nautilus and Edge are assembled in Oakville and Ford currently has active contracts with the plant until 2023 to continue building. There's no indication whether it will be extended or not.
Having said that, Ford announced back in February that they received government of Canada funding to invest in electrifying the plant with the goal of turning it into an EV production plant. There are 3 possible scenarios.. Ford will shift production to another plant, electrify the Edge/Nautilus or discontinue it. Won't know for sure until early to mid next year though
How do you play music from a USB drive with this?
1. Make sure you've got MP3s on a USB stick and insert into the data USB port
2. Press the audio button (to change the source)
3. Select USB

They're 2 different systems so you can just plug and play for it to work. You could technically do a screen swap if you find the new Sync4 screen by itself but then you'd need to program it for the previous gen. Honestly it would be a huge pain and cost wouldn't make sense to do it

Have you had an experience when connected to CarPlay where it won't dial 911? From my understanding of 911 assist, Sync will search for and connect to a previously paired cellphone and then attempt to call emergency services

Things have changed quite a bit since I have working .. but as I was watching your Video I kept an eye on the 911 star up in the upper right hand corner … and while CarPlay was enabled the 911 Star would vanish .. also I just bought my 2021 Ford Titanium yesterday … I had CarPlay going and while I enabled CarPlay it had a screen pop up which said that while CarPlay was enabled the phone would be disconnected … something like that .. So I watched your VID”S and the 911 Star was gone when you had CarPlay enabled..
@@CarverEngraver Great catch on the icon disappearing. In theory if you're connected to CarPlay or Android Auto and you're in a collision the vehicle should automatically attempt to connect to a previously connected phone that was setup via bluetooth.
I haven't been in a collision in a Ford so I can't tell you for sure from real world experience but that's the way it should work
@@CarsWithSteve yeah I just bought this Ford Edge yesterday .. Traded in My Ford F-150 Lariat 4 x 4 … Retired from Ford in St Louis.. in 2006 husband in 2002 .. he was there 36 yrs .. myself 11 .. Things have become more digital and getting older doesn’t help but working in Quality .. helps me find things like this .. I also believe the front windshield on the visor needs tinting as when the sun comes in ,its blinding .. I find this a must in quality ..

@@user-mz5tf5pm7u With the exception of the occasional screen lagging there weren't many complaints about the Sync3 system from the previous gen Explorer. It's a bit early to tell if the screen will hold up over time but I'm not aware of any issues with the screen just yet - but the screen is covered under the manufacturer's warranty
