Unfortunate that the Edge may not have navigation but glad that the video helped you figure out other features you can use instead! Kind of neat that these videos are being dealer recommended too :P If you really wanted it after purchase keep an eye on scrap yards for a 2021-2023 Edge that comes in with a screen that has navigation.. then get it programmed to your VIN by the dealer

I'd like to see more information about the advantages or disadvantages of the ford subscription. Is it really necessary? Do the internal maps stay relatively current without it? It's hard to believe after paying over 50K for a car I have to pay a separate monthly fee to use the nav!

@@CarsWithSteve It was a GT Premium 6speed manual. All around difficult for Great Danes and driving in a traffic heavy city like San Antonio. Took one of my Danes to the vet Tuesday and it was so stress free with the Edge. 2 Great Danes in a Mustang is a total clown car.
I think they waisted computing power with the sketch pad. Could have used that for better software. It doesn't always show connection to Android Auto even though it is. No voice calling prompt. To me it sucks.
The sketch pad would just be a bit of extra storage as an app but the screen could use some extra features for sure. Video playback when stationary would be a good start! For the voice call prompt are you talking about a notification for incoming calls, a prompt when you make calls using the voice assistant or something else?
Thanks for the detailed explanation. I have a 2024 Edge Titanium with the elite pkg with less than 500 miles on it. As my eye sights is less than perfect I wish there was a way to increase the font size on the screen or is there and I cant find it? Also as an example is the HVAC control icons are too small.
You're welcome! Surprisingly no way to increase font size but there definitely should be an accessibility option. I'd recommend reaching out to Ford Canada/USA directly and let them know. The HVAC controls are a bit smaller but you can actually control them using your voice. Adjusting is just pressing the voice command prompt and saying "Set Climate (or Temperature) to x degrees"
thx liked this description but wondered how to delete getting notifications on incoming emails on facebook, messenger. The sudden notification chime is very annoying. Can you download into car only apps you want? if so where onscreendo you find this ability
You'd have to disable notifications through your phone if you don't want certain ones showing up through the car. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay have certain apps available but this video covers off how to remove certain apps through either one
Hey great video! Extremely helpful! Would you by any chance know how to restore an app on the Home Screen? I’m referring to the bar of apps on the main screen that you can slide through left and right. If you slide an app down, a small trash can appears and the short cut to the app is deleted. I accidentally removed my CarPlay short cut and have no idea how to restore that shortcut. Thanks in advance for any help with that!
@@CarsWithSteve, agreed that’s why I thought too. If I open the sketch pad for example then that app shortcut reappears there (even though I previously trashed the shortcut) but when I go to CarPlay, it doesn’t recreate the app shortcut. Perhaps this is a software bug?
Yeah that's odd.. Have you tried a soft reset? On the steering wheel press and hold the seek forward and volume down button for 10 seconds which would reset the screen
Bugger.. just noticed the section where that is gets pushed down during that part of the video and I don't scroll far enough. Go to Settings --> General --> Display --> Brightness On the General section, you'll have to scroll to see Display
I’ve had my 2017 fusion since 2019 and have always had Spotify available in CarPlay. Maybe you were referring to Spotify not available over wireless CarPlay? (Mine is through a wired connection)
At the time the video was shot it wasn't showing up but not sure if it was a software update but it's now showing up either through USB or wirelessly through CarPlay
I know on the newer version of Sync 4 with the single center knob at the bottom, you can push in the knob wheel to go to the calm screen, but is there any shortcut to get to the calm screen on this version with two knobs at the bottom?
I didn't know you could shortcut to the calming screen using the center knob haha, I'll have to give that a try next time I'm in one that has it! No way to turn on the calming screen outside of the screen unfortunately

Anytime! The EVR is enhanced voice recognition.. really just subtle differences between 4 and 4a looking at graphics and some commands. Navigation is optional in the 400a ST, you'd need the Ford Co-Pilot360™ Assist+ package for that. The front facing camera and navigation would be standard in the 401a ST
great video. is there a way for the radio to just display the fm stations when you hit fm, or just the am stations when you hit am, as well as sirius when you hit sirius. It seems counter productive to display ALL the stations in a random order. Thanks for any info.
Thanks! It displays in a random order when you switch sources because that display is showing your presets. Surprisingly there isn't a way to display all available stations in Sync4. Your best bet is to spend a few minutes and update the preset pages in an order that makes sense
Do you know why my screen has the audio and sound blocked out? I can’t play anything with audio for some reason and tried to master reset it and nothing worked
Only thing I can think of off hand would be the audio not being turned on. Press the button in the middle of the volume rocker which should turn it on. If that doesn't work you'll need to book it in for a service appt
Thanks Bharat! You can increase the brightness of the screen.. check out the switch by your left knee. You could also try turning the display into the night time mode that may make it easier to see
I have ford edge rental, I connected my iPhone. When I tried to make a call, I can hear the person through the Bluetooth but they can’t hear me when I talk. If I look at audio settings on my phone it says it’s using ford edge. What am I doing wrong to be able to talk over the system?
If you aren't muted there could be something up with the bluetooth connection. Have you tried connecting through CarPlay instead of just bluetooth? First thing I'd try though is a screen reset by pressing and holding the radio power button and right seek button just under the screen for 5-10 seconds. If that doesn't work, then delete the phone connection from the vehicle and the vehicle connection from your phone's bluetooth and from Settings --> General --> CarPlay, then reconnect

Thanks! The system takes a bit of getting used to but the voice commands with Sync 4 vs CarPlay/Android Auto are interesting. When you're connected to CarPlay and do a short press of the voice command prompt on the steering wheel it will activate the regular Sync4 assistant that can't adjust anything with CarPlay/AA. You have to do a longer press and hold of that button to activate either Siri or the Google Assistant to request a song change on your phone
Nope.. left one is for the most recent map app, middle is for audio app and right is for misc app. It'll switch based on the app you opened last but the 3 categories can't be customized
Well, Ford may be happy with it and I’ve got a Ford edge but I’m not so happy with this radio deal it’s too complicated when the wife switches we have to figure out how to get the damn thing to turn back the other way or eventually will get it, but it’s not as easy as just plug it in or turn it on, and it plays I had a Lincoln before the edge and it was much easier to do so they can tell it all they want, but putting all these gadgets in there aren’t as good as they think they are
I just purchased a 2024 Ford Edge Titanium. How do you delete/clear preset stations? Somehow I've managed to add Prime Country 3 times and can't, for the life of me, get them off. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. There is nothing in the owner's manual to tell you how to delete, Ford told me to call Sirius ( go figure) and they can't tell me either. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Weird they told you to call Sirius 😂.. Presets in the infotainment system can't be deleted, they can only be overwritten. Find another station and overwrite it with something new!

There's surprisingly no way to delete stations.. You can only overwrite them or perform a full factory reset. Just do a press and hold over your ideal stations to overwrite the existing ones!
@Da Boyz did you see the Apple WWDC presentation? Full screen CarPlay with the option for manufacturers to allow CarPlay to take over the media and cluster screens. It looks pretty crazy and I'm really hoping Ford opens up that flexibility for owners
I've seen someone go from Sync2 to Sync3 in the Edge but haven't come across an upgrade kit from 3 to 4.. It would be different wiring and modules, plus chances are not all the features would work
Surprisingly some people watch these at 2x speed 👀 Try changing the playback speed to 0.75x - it seems to be the sweet spot for some people. Press the little gear icon --> Playback Speed
My iPhone display on my 2022 Edge Titanium touch screen suddenly went to a very basic black/white listing - losing my maps, music, etc. colored icons. Do I need to remove and pair again?
That's odd.. is it the whole screen or just the Apple CarPlay part? You could remove and pair or just try a Sync4 soft reboot. Press and hold volume down and right seek on the steering wheel for 10 seconds. The screen should turn black and then restart

Android Auto and CarPlay can't go fuller screen than what's shown in this video. For Android Auto, the default is the odd split screen shown just after I connect the phone with weather/news apps. If you press the map icon to the right of the Google Assistant Prompt, you can have it go fuller screen
While you phone is reading the message adjust the volume with the Volume Knob.. Essentially there are 2 different volume settings.. Music and Voice you will see that when you adjust.. Hope this helps..
I have a 2022 Edge ST and I'm using a galaxy S21 Ultra, and the screen does not allow me to use it in that larger display mode.. It just leaves a large empty space between the display cards and Android auto section on the screen. 🤔.
Yeah it's like that with a number of manufacturers for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The full screen isn't utilized but I'm hoping enough people bring it up to Ford so the issue is addressed
@@jared4265 Yes, but only the teal blue color. There is no option for other colors like the previous generation. I actually got rid of the ST for a Mach E a few months ago. Also, full screen Android auto was included in a recent sync 4A update.
I hate to tell you this, no matter how you put it down there. I really don’t like what you’ve done to it. You may think this is simpler but it takes your eyes off the road. What is the whole point of having all this hands-free stuff is to get your eyes focused on the road. Yes you could probably say it it’s all in the steering wheel, but I think they’ve done a terrible decision putting everything on screen. You have to look at the screen to do most of the stuff like your steering wheel like your heated seats. It’s all in there was much easier when you could just you knew where the button was and you could push it
You can use the voice command prompt to adjust the climate settings, make phone calls, navigate, change the radio station and a number of other things. But if you're really not liking the touch screen buttons reach out to Ford corporate in your country and tell them.. if they don't get feedback from owners than they'll think everything is ok.
You can scroll through using the buttons on the steering wheel easily enough or use the voice command prompt to easily change to whatever station you're after!
Try changing the playback speed to something that's easier to follow. If you're viewing the video on a computer, on the bottom right side of the video there's a little gear icon. Change playback speed to 0.75x - that will make it way easier to follow along with!
You can try a soft reset to see if that restarts the screen.. Hold the seek right and volume down buttons on the steering wheel controls for about 10 seconds to reboot the SYNC 4 system. If that doesn't work you'll have to book the vehicle in for a service appt
There was a small upgrade mid-2023 but it has the same functionality! I was just in an Edge ST-Line and recorded the newer interface and will have a video up in the next few weeks

Thanks! For the app launcher underneath the home screen map, when you relaunch CarPlay it should add the icon back in as a recently opened app 🤔

The easiest thing to do for audio is just remember to tap the 6 dot icon on the very top to get back to the radio

I've seen someone go from Sync2 to Sync3 in the Edge but haven't come across an upgrade kit from 3 to 4.. It would be different wiring and modules, plus chances are not all the features would work
Does sync 4 can be installed in ford edge 2016 model?
I haven't seen it done yet.. there are different modules and wiring, plus actually finding an aftermarket Sync4 screen would be tough

My iPhone display on my 2022 Edge Titanium touch screen suddenly went to a very basic black/white listing - losing my maps, music, etc. colored icons. Do I need to remove and pair again?
That's odd.. is it the whole screen or just the Apple CarPlay part? You could remove and pair or just try a Sync4 soft reboot. Press and hold volume down and right seek on the steering wheel for 10 seconds. The screen should turn black and then restart

You could probably cut it in to fit.. but the Edge and Fusion use different wiring and modules so that would have to get replaced too

It could technically be installed but full functionality most likely wouldn't be there

Have you tried a soft reset? Press and hold both the Volume Down and Seek Right buttons on the steering wheel controls for 10 seconds
@CarsWithSteve I've tried a master reset, and the display reset nothing works it won't go in to split screen other times the touchscreen doesn't work
Are you talking split screen so the presets/quick launch tray take up the bottom and the map or other active screen takes up the upper portion?

Android Auto and CarPlay can't go fuller screen than what's shown in this video. For Android Auto, the default is the odd split screen shown just after I connect the phone with weather/news apps. If you press the map icon to the right of the Google Assistant Prompt, you can have it go fuller screen

Hey Juan! It can't be played through Android Auto or Apple CarPlay but no issues playing it when you're streaming over bluetooth

There was an update to Sync 4a! I was just in an ST Line and reshot the changes - same functionality just a few graphics that are different
I can not get my Ford Edge 2023 to read text messages out loud. It does not read the message out loud. Any ideas why?
Press and hold the voice command prompt to activate Siri/Google Assistant and ask your phone to read the message
While you phone is reading the message adjust the volume with the Volume Knob.. Essentially there are 2 different volume settings.. Music and Voice you will see that when you adjust.. Hope this helps..

I have a 2022 Edge ST and I'm using a galaxy S21 Ultra, and the screen does not allow me to use it in that larger display mode.. It just leaves a large empty space between the display cards and Android auto section on the screen. 🤔.
Yeah it's like that with a number of manufacturers for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The full screen isn't utilized but I'm hoping enough people bring it up to Ford so the issue is addressed

@@jared4265 Yes, but only the teal blue color. There is no option for other colors like the previous generation. I actually got rid of the ST for a Mach E a few months ago. Also, full screen Android auto was included in a recent sync 4A update.

I hate to tell you this, no matter how you put it down there. I really don’t like what you’ve done to it. You may think this is simpler but it takes your eyes off the road. What is the whole point of having all this hands-free stuff is to get your eyes focused on the road. Yes you could probably say it it’s all in the steering wheel, but I think they’ve done a terrible decision putting everything on screen. You have to look at the screen to do most of the stuff like your steering wheel like your heated seats. It’s all in there was much easier when you could just you knew where the button was and you could push it
You can use the voice command prompt to adjust the climate settings, make phone calls, navigate, change the radio station and a number of other things. But if you're really not liking the touch screen buttons reach out to Ford corporate in your country and tell them.. if they don't get feedback from owners than they'll think everything is ok.

You can scroll through using the buttons on the steering wheel easily enough or use the voice command prompt to easily change to whatever station you're after!

Try changing the playback speed to something that's easier to follow. If you're viewing the video on a computer, on the bottom right side of the video there's a little gear icon. Change playback speed to 0.75x - that will make it way easier to follow along with!
My sync 4 does not pull up
You can try a soft reset to see if that restarts the screen.. Hold the seek right and volume down buttons on the steering wheel controls for about 10 seconds to reboot the SYNC 4 system. If that doesn't work you'll have to book the vehicle in for a service appt

There was a small upgrade mid-2023 but it has the same functionality! I was just in an Edge ST-Line and recorded the newer interface and will have a video up in the next few weeks
