    Going through this year has been hard on everyone. I have been very down myself, but when I found your page and saw your hair and how to achieve it, gave me such hope. It was your hair and makeup that got me thinking about myself. I'm a lot older and overweight. Getting my haircut close to what you have has really made me feel good. I played with my makeup, curled my hair and for the first time in a long time felt pretty. You really gave this to me and for that I thank you. I'm still working on getting my color right and all of this gives me the confidence to want to lose weight. It's going to take a lot of time, but I will get there. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

      Your comment just made my day, and the whole reason I have my channel. I find like you said, sometimes during hard times when I feel in a rut something as small as sprucing up my hair can be just the spark I need to get back on track myself. So happy to hear you’re taking time for yourself and gaining confidence in it all. That’s what it’s all about. Cheers to a new year and all the best 🥂 ❤️

I use the matrix purple shampoo and conditioner, it is truly an amazing product. But I love Joico, too, can’t wait to try that one as well!! I will borrow your words the next time a client says what’s a toner!!!💐🌺❤️

    I started watching you at the beginning of 2020, and have even worked up the bravery to cut my hair similar to yours back in May. I always struggle with brassy hair so thank you for sharing your tips. I recently picked up the Brass off conditioner in hopes for toning so was a little disappointed how lightly pigmented it is, but I do like that it conditions my hair well. So I will just have to add the shampoo also, and I will look for the Matrix 8v and give that a try as well. Great to see you back and Happy Holidays to you and your family.

    I am a new subscriber, I love your hair. I have colored my hair before I did browns and black but it’s been a year now that I haven’t colored my hair and I was hoping I can go blonde before next summer. I am all about doing it carefully and take all my time, I bought a short bob wig that i’ll be wearing while my hait is taking its time to transition to blonde. I can’t go to work with those crazy potchy oranged and coppers. I hope you can make more videos on hair coloring and toning for stubborn brassy or black dyed hair.

    • @BlackThorndRose
      @BlackThorndRose 3 роки тому

      The Fanola no yellow, while very potent, is full of sulfates and is very drying on the hair. They did come out with a vegan version that is sulfate free, but imo there are better options out there.

    • @deewillson2757
      @deewillson2757 3 роки тому +1

      @@BlackThorndRose it is very drying and on top of it I feel like it’s not even doing anything anymore. I have been trying to get that ashy white blonde for a while now. I can lift to a level 10 with no problem i think it’s the combo of the toner that is just not getting me there. I want to tone my own hair but feel like I’m betraying my hairdresser lol.

    • @BlackThorndRose
      @BlackThorndRose 3 роки тому +1

      @@deewillson2757 Well there could be a few issues happening. Your stylist may not be using the correct toner formulation based on what you want. I would recommend bringing in a photo of the exact tone you’re looking for. From a stylist’s perspective, I can tell you that ashy and white mean two completely different things to me and I would formulate toner differently for each. When you’re at a level 10, ashy will most likely lean more lavender, and if it pulls too ashy it can look dull, whereas white actually has the smallest bit of warmth so that it’s completely neutral tone, and that’s what gives a shine to it. I’m not really familiar with toners that are sold to the public, I use salon brands, so I can’t recommend a specific formulation for you. Another (most likely) issue would be some buildup on the hair, toning shampoo and if you have hard water where you live, that will always be working against you, I know the struggle! In that case, I would recommend getting a couple packets of the Malibu C blonde wellness, or hard water treatment packets, or both, depending on what you need, you can find them on Amazon. It clarifies your hair without stripping the moisture and will remove any brassiness especially if it’s from hard water buildup. My last little tip is if you want white hair, and you’re at that level 10, I would recommend finding a more blue based shampoo/conditioner rather than violet, it will give you that white tone vs. ashy. Go on Fanola’s Instagram, they do a demo video with their vegan violet vs. blue and you will be able to see that difference and see if that’s the difference you’re looking for.😉

    • @deewillson2757
      @deewillson2757 3 роки тому

      @@BlackThorndRose oh my gosh thank you for the advice. So sweet! I have to look into the Malibu c packets. I’ve been getting a heavy partial highlight. My hair dresser said next time she wants to do a full highlight because underneath has such a warm, dull, old color that it’s competing with the ashy highlites on top. I do have to show her pictures. I’ve only gone to this girl twice so far and have never shown her pictures. 🤦🏼‍♀️ thank you again for the recommendations!

As you were showing the wheel you said you need a purple toner to get blonde without brasiness. Forgive me if I misunderstood. So you mean add a blonde toner that includes purple or add a purple toner like just a dab or more? What number would that be??
    I got the shampooo. Didnt know there was a conditioner very awesome.
    Thank you for all you do!

      Hey! Oh awesome! No I usually tone on towel dried hair and just watch it until it’s to the tone I like then wash out. No exact time. ☺️

      I do yes! And thanks so much! I have them tattooed now and have a vid of that too but I also did a video of how I do them before I got them tattooed. If you search jami swan brows all of my brow vids should come up ☺️

      @@JamiSwanBeauty I recently saw a place that does brow tattooing near me but I'm too nervous that it might come out uneven or look odd. I don't know enough about it. I have a similar colouring to you but very light brows. Yours look great.

    Great video! So question what’s the difference between blue and purple shampoo? Which one should I be using??

    • @BlackThorndRose
      @BlackThorndRose 3 роки тому

      Purple shampoo, depending on its strength, really only tones the lightest of blondes, around a level 8 and above, maybe even a 7 if it’s very pigmented. You can look up a color level chart for reference. It’s violet tone will cancel out any brassy yellow tones in the hair, as you can see on the color wheel in the video. Blue shampoo is best for darker highlights, that when they turn brassy, have more of a dark yellow/orange tone. It can also be used for brunettes in general, that aren’t too close to black, who can see warmth in the hair and want to cool it down. Another differentiation that’s pretty neat but can only be seen on the lightest of blonde (like Jami’s blonde) is that purple will leave you with an ashy result, whereas blue will can give you more of that beautiful neutral beige blonde, because sometimes too much ash can wash some people out depending on their skin tone. Hope that helped!

    My hair is a light ash blonde...I use to be a medium blonde/brown is natural. I like the color of your hair. Do u get that color with the matrix demi permanent color u use or u just use it on the front blonde. I'd like my blonde the shade of yours. Will the matrix one u said do that if I put it all over? Can u give the exact matrix u used if it will work on getting my blonde the color of your blonde. And only use 6 volume developer? Would 10 be too much

    So I just recently got My roots touched up. My hair is ashy color. She had left the bleached on for too long and toned it. Came out platinum white. How do I tone it down to ash without it turning bluish?

    • @JamiSwanBeauty
      @JamiSwanBeauty  2 роки тому

      Is it an all over color or just highlights. I would go back and get her to fix it to how you want it if it was just done because it can get tricky.
      You might have to have it filled with a warm filler then toned or maybe she could just tone with a darker slightly warmer color so it didn’t pull blue.

  • @lisawilliams3982
    @lisawilliams3982 3 роки тому

    Do u do all your head with your toner or just parts? I lifted from a medium brown...to like a light ash/platinum blonde...but she done a crappy job toning...I left with orange all over. Ugly. But I can do my own toning at home. What color would your toner turn my hair?? Would I put your toner all over my hair so it'd all be that color...maybe my orange wb gone then
