This is the first time I'm seeing any proper length gameplay of this game and it does look more interesting than I expected, but I'm failing to really see how exploration is supposed to be fun with it being 2d and all. It seems like that would greatly limit exploration for anything other than mining.
@@lordender_kitty_official I mean I'm not really sure what to say, but for me its irrelevant whether its 2D or 3D, exploration is exploration. As somebody who has played Terraria since day 3 of release, grown up with it and watched it thrive; this was a video that had me smiling ear to ear the whole time. The very first Terraria playthrough you do is so magical. It's filled with "What is that?!" "What weapon is THAT?!" "There's so many items!" After putting over 8,000 hours into this game over 14 years, I'm glad I got to experience it again through you. Genuinely entertaining stuff. Looks like I have a new series to watch
I think its so funny how he got ancient shadow scale mail 1/2500 and the tentacle spike 1/1000 in the first 20 minutes of being the the corruption also if you want a quick hint like other people are saying to have more people move in you need empty houses

I love Terraria and am glad to see more people playing it. So I’ll give you a few tips. - If you equip three pieces of armor (helmet, chest piece and leggings) of the same material, you’ll get a stat bonus. - Diamonds aren’t as useful as in Minecraft, but they can be used to create a magic weapon - You get little messages in the chat whenever a boss appears or an event starts, like with the Eye of Cthulhu. If it’s a boss, it usually gives you enough time to prepare. - You can use lead bars to make chains. If you combine chains with life crystals, it makes a lamp that increases your life regeneration. But you should probably max out your life first. - If you’re even in a pinch, the nurse can heal you - Sunflowers give the “happy” buff, and prevent the spreading of the purple biome. - If you see an item listed as a material, bring it to Zach the guide. He can tell you what you can craft from it. Anyway, that’s about it. I hope you have fun.
20:03 its crazy how you got the ancient shadow scale male, that is a very rare drop! btw "the eye of Cthulhu" spawned naturally because you met the requirements: you have at least 200 health at least 10 defense and at least 4 NPC's
11:51 don't starve reference, terraria recently (like 1-2 updates ago) made collab with dst and added bunch of items, boss and special seed related to the game
Tips during the video: 1.The fish are out in the rain because there's more water. 2. You've been dying to traps, not any sort of random event 3. If you put a small 2 block gap under your front door, the zombies get stunlocked trying to hop up onto your balcony. 4. Your suitable housing is made as a standard 7-block-high 11-block-long small hut, but some adjustments can be made. Suitable housing also has to have a table and a chair. 5. THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE!!! you can hit ctrl on your keyboard to place and mine easier.
both Terraria AND Hades were games i loved, and grew up with for terraria, you're getting a sub. I also got really surprised by your editing quality, very good stuff for 900 subs (btw after theres also Hades 2, wich i basically hades but lore and some gameplay aspects are changed, so if you like hades, then hades 2 is for you)
I used to think that terraria was a bad version of minecraft but i realised how different it was. I like how there is such a varied amount of items and weapons compared to minecraft having only a few ore tiers.
Terraria's development started months before minecraft even existed. Also, as someone who has played Terraria more than minecraft, I genuinely feel like minecraft is a low budget terraria
Seeing you being amazed by hooks being awesome mobility or guns being in the game reminds me of the little things that make my favorite game so incredible.
The guide is actually your best friend for crafting stuffs here. If you don't know what an item makes, click on the crafting, *then put items you wondered what it could be crafted into to the empty box*. It'll It'll show you all of the stuffs that could be crafted with said item (You can click the hammer thing near the box to open the full list so you don't have to scroll that much).
watching someone play without the wiki open is lowkey stressful, but youre doing really well I hope youre able to get as far as possible blind its probably way more fun
A few tips, without spoilers. Always keep a few empty houses, in case any new NPCs arrive. Bombs might attract someone who's interested in them. Those purple orbs look useful, use a hammer to break at least 3. Ranged weapons help to keep you safe. That Diamond Staff or a Demonite Bow would work well. Search around underground for cabins, they can have useful accessories. A long, flat platform works wonders for beating bosses. You've tried down, left, and right,I think you forgot a direction.
I had so much fun vicariously experiencing Terraria for the first time again. It was so awesome watching someone discover everything ive seen and overlooked after many playthroughs. Thanks for the video!
I recently watched a video that looked into how to forget a game so you can experience playing it for the first time again, and this was essentially the conclusion. First, you can't actually 100% forget everything, and second, to forget most of the details you need to play through the game as quickly as possible and then keep it as far away from you as possible for 2-5 years. The video creator concluded that it really wasn't worth it and it was much better to simply introduce someone else to the game and watch them play it for the first time instead.
Small tips (no spoilers here): 1. Press control to toggle an option that automatically highlights blocks for you to break. Extremely useful for mining. 2. Hold shift to automatically select either the tool you need to break the highlighted block or torches.
Love the videos keep it up, btw a quality of life I found in settings is changing the map and health bar icons, they can display your health and mana in numbers next to their designated icons along with other health bar designs 👍

Brother watching a first playthrough is so fun. Watching you figure things out and watching your first encounter with the Eye of Cthulhu is awesome. And I love seeing that the NPC tower is just your first instinct when learning about NPC spawning. You're a true Terrarian. You're doing a sweet job, can't wait to watch the rest of your experience.
I love to see people getting into Terraria and have this experience of not knowing anything about the game and just find out stuff on the go! Awesome video!
Also, I‘d say the way you‘re approaching this playthrough, is the single best way to start out with Terraria. You can only play a game for the first time once! It has so much content that you‘ll never find and see everything in your first playthrough and that’s what makes it so replayable, aside from Expert and Master… and mods 🎉
0:25 Those are indeed good settings, though, once you play a max size world you'll never want to go back. Even if it's stupidly impractical in vanilla gameplay. Oh right, no back seating, this isn't back seating, right? Since you already made the decision and I'm just affirming it about 5 days and 30 minutes after the fact...
@@tinnitusintensifies Master mode is good for the demographic that feels Terraria needs more focus on the fishing, gardening and uprooting graveyards of crushed hopes, parts of the game.
They're two drastically different games. Minecraft focuses more on the "survival" aspect and is more relaxing and casual. Terraria focuses on the combat and rpg-like elements. If only more people knew the difference
It’s really fun watching you figure out everything as you go. If you want a hint though…… Look at the location of the purple biome at each point in your video

Really clean editing. Entertaining gameplay too, you picked up on the game's mechanics kinda quick. As a tip, check in with the Guide with any materials you get that seem like they could make stuff other than furniture. There are a lot of items which you won't realize exist on your own. Any item that's a material will have "Material" somewhere in the description when you hover over it.

Fun fact: the NPC ai for 'opening doors at night is a bad idea' used to be a lot worse! :D If I had a dollar for every time an npc would go waltzing out into the night into like 7 monsters, or open a door and let in a horde while I was messing with inventory, I could retire at 26. A lot of the time, I'd end up barricading people inside or making door systems that only I could pass. Thankfully, in one of the past couple updates (I think it might've been Journey's End?), that got reworked so that the villagers actually have some self-preservation instincts. So glad to see you enjoying the game ^^ It's always so lovely to see someone playing for the first time and figuring everything out. Terraria's very near and dear to my heart, and seeing other people play brings back memories of my first world
hahahah so true. I have no idea why, but it seems like that's the first thing we think of on all of our first playthroughs. My "town" is always just one huge skyscraper lol, because that's just what I did on my first playthrough.
Oh what I would give to experience this again. Quick tip, keep a wiki tab open, as someone who’s got over a thousand hours into the game I still always keep a wiki on hand when I play, it’s so helpful and there’s so much stuff in the game that it’s kinda necessary
I have hundreds of hours in this game, going back to when there were like half as many items or fewer as there are right now. I can’t even imagine what it must be like to get into Terraria now. It’s awesome to see! I hope it brings you so much joy :D
Hey! Random guy with like 6000 hours in terraria here, just thought I'd give you a couple tips, but no spoilers :) For boss fights, try to make arenas using rows of wooden platforms you can jump up or down between. Different weapons will do different types of damage, melee, ranged, magic, and summon damage, different armor sets benefit different damage types, same with accessories. Every weapon, tool and accessory has a "prefix", essentially a randomised effect that is picked from a pool that buffs or weakens that item. Make like 10 wooden swords and you'll likely see what I mean. I hope all this helps, oh and last tip for now, that purple place with the massive chasms can be mined eventually, but for now, use bombs, just be careful of those glowing orbs, they hold a little surprise for people that get too curious ;)
@@asteranightshade2981 Makes sense. I only started playing like a few months ago cus I got bored of minecraft lol then I got addicted and played like 5 hours a day

I love it that you're playing this game without looking up wikis or strategies, or playing with someone who carries you through the challenges, or starting with mods out the gate. So many I see doing all three mistakes and never truly experiencing the exploration or the mastery. People will be itching to tell you of all the secrets and strategies, but don't let them backseat as the beauty of the game's design really is that it makes it fun to find them. The only thing you really need to know is the hotkeys, like shift and ctrl.
Love this video! Terraria is genuinely my favorite game and has been for years. The first playthrough is crazy confusing but so magical as well. I also respect the attempt to go with no tips. I legit had to be handheld through the game to start it... So that is pretty crazy to me
I’d do anything to replay both Minecraft and Terraria for the first time. I’m so glad you decided to try this game out. They are only similar in concept and completely different in practice. Cheers!
I can't believe how much i liked just watching you play the game at your own pace, makes me want to relax more when playing too, i do things way too quick to enjoy them now that i realize. Also great vid, relaxing.
as someone who has played terraria for literally over a decade with 1500 hours on my steam version of the game this is both the most fun video to watch and the most painful as I watch you make literally every mistake I did when I started
I love watching newer players get into terraria with no prior knowledge. It's so fun to just watch them come to the same revelations about the game I did all those years ago. My favorite is people figuring out the pickaxe breaks solid blocks like wood completely confused. Or just a boulder. That "What the? Why?!?" Is something we all go through, and the answer is... Redigit thought it was funny lmao.
just a little info on the pickaxe breaking wood thing while in minecraft, it takes into account what *type or material* the block you're trying to break is, for what type of tool breaks it, in terraria, it just matters *what* you're trying to do: so pickaxes *always* break blocks, whatever the type, axes always cut trees, hammers always break background wall blocks. regardless of the type of blocks. for example, there are even these gemstone trees that are made of stone, but you still cut them with a hammer. i personally like that because terraria's combat and everything else is so much faster pace, that i like this more pragmatic view. in a pinch you can just take out your pickaxe and remove any blocks that are in the way, regardless of type of block, etc

Terraria: Also try Minecraft! Minecraft: Also try Terraria!
Fun fact: in older versions of terraria, you used an axe to break wood, but it was removed.
Also, you should make a hammer.
man the fact that every terraria player ever builds a skyscraper as NPC housing. there's something magical about that.
I love Terraria and am glad to see more people playing it. So I’ll give you a few tips.
- If you equip three pieces of armor (helmet, chest piece and leggings) of the same material, you’ll get a stat bonus.
- Diamonds aren’t as useful as in Minecraft, but they can be used to create a magic weapon
- You get little messages in the chat whenever a boss appears or an event starts, like with the Eye of Cthulhu. If it’s a boss, it usually gives you enough time to prepare.
- You can use lead bars to make chains. If you combine chains with life crystals, it makes a lamp that increases your life regeneration. But you should probably max out your life first.
- If you’re even in a pinch, the nurse can heal you
- Sunflowers give the “happy” buff, and prevent the spreading of the purple biome.
Tips during the video:
1.The fish are out in the rain because there's more water.
2. You've been dying to traps, not any sort of random event
I also got really surprised by your editing quality, very good stuff for 900 subs (btw after theres also Hades 2, wich i basically hades but lore and some gameplay aspects are changed, so if you like hades, then hades 2 is for you)
I'm glad you're enjoying my content! And thanks for also watching the hades video, most people have just seen the terraria one
can't wait to see his reaction to the mid-game boss, also a fun thing to do is to put about 100 torches in an inclosed space for an easter egg

I used to think that terraria was a bad version of minecraft but i realised how different it was. I like how there is such a varied amount of items and weapons compared to minecraft having only a few ore tiers.
Minecrafts a very diffrent game I love both of them and think they cant't really be compared
yeah that and Terraria is way more combat focused with loads of bossfights and events, while minecraft is more about exploration and creativity
Terraria's development started months before minecraft even existed. Also, as someone who has played Terraria more than minecraft, I genuinely feel like minecraft is a low budget terraria

This is wonderful! I love watching people play Terraria for the first time, especially those who have played Minecraft before!

3:58 "the hell is a twitch" 😂😂
Small tips (no spoilers here):
1. Press control to toggle an option that automatically highlights blocks for you to break. Extremely useful for mining.
2. Hold shift to automatically select either the tool you need to break the highlighted block or torches.
“Oh they got me” ‘drinks a health potion’ doesn’t notice “an evil presence is watching you” the eye of Cthulhu: “time to have some fun”
Love the videos keep it up, btw a quality of life I found in settings is changing the map and health bar icons, they can display your health and mana in numbers next to their designated icons along with other health bar designs 👍

11:05 ahhh the everyday terrarian mind goes to default skyscraper when making a npc town
As a Terraria veteran, it‘s sooo cool to see you experience the game for the first time!
Id say that expert mode is much better
@@seapickle6555 Large worlds and expert mode aren't mutually exclusive.
master mode is where it’s at after ruining my playstyle with mods
@@tinnitusintensifies Master mode is good for the demographic that feels Terraria needs more focus on the fishing, gardening and uprooting graveyards of crushed hopes, parts of the game.
it hurts so much that people look at terraria the same way they look at minecraft.
They're two drastically different games. Minecraft focuses more on the "survival" aspect and is more relaxing and casual. Terraria focuses on the combat and rpg-like elements. If only more people knew the difference
I still remember the mistakes of my first terraria world
The absence of platforms and rope gives me physical pain
It’s really fun watching you figure out everything as you go. If you want a hint though……
Look at the location of the purple biome at each point in your video
You learn surprisingly fast! Most people just join, wander around, die, close the game and never touch it again
people need to stop comparing this game to minecraft, they are both incredible games in their own ways, not one better than the other.
Ahhh man the first Terraria playthrough blind is a magical thing. Hope you enjoy it. Watching you bumble around with no idea what you're doing is hilarious. No backseating here, but I do wonder, are you intending to do a melee only run or going to try other classes/weapon types? Going in completely blind and without the wiki is very brave. Loving watching someone experience this game for the first time!!

"you picked up on the game's mechanics kinda quick."
Also crafted a bow and then never used it...

I have hundreds of hours in this game, going back to when there were like half as many items or fewer as there are right now. I can’t even imagine what it must be like to get into Terraria now. It’s awesome to see! I hope it brings you so much joy :D
Hey!
Random guy with like 6000 hours in terraria here, just thought I'd give you a couple tips, but no spoilers :)
For boss fights, try to make arenas using rows of wooden platforms you can jump up or down between.
DAMN 6000 hours?? I only have 300 .....

terraria is really such a great game, played it on switch originally and i remember getting discord solely to find people to play multiplayer with (which... in hindsight, wasn't a very good idea considering how young i was)
I love it that you're playing this game without looking up wikis or strategies, or playing with someone who carries you through the challenges, or starting with mods out the gate.
Post a twitch compilation on UA-cam plz

Also great vid, relaxing.
I get annoyed when people call terraria 2D minecraft and I feel so vindicated when youtubers like you show it isn’t. Please continue!
as someone who has played terraria for literally over a decade with 1500 hours on my steam version of the game this is both the most fun video to watch and the most painful as I watch you make literally every mistake I did when I started
Dude, I love your editing and the dialogues for each NPC makes it so much better. Totally subscribe!
just a little info on the pickaxe breaking wood thing
while in minecraft, it takes into account what *type or material* the block you're trying to break is, for what type of tool breaks it, in terraria, it just matters *what* you're trying to do: so pickaxes *always* break blocks, whatever the type, axes always cut trees, hammers always break background wall blocks. regardless of the type of blocks. for example, there are even these gemstone trees that are made of stone, but you still cut them with a hammer.
i personally like that because terraria's combat and everything else is so much faster pace, that i like this more pragmatic view. in a pinch you can just take out your pickaxe and remove any blocks that are in the way, regardless of type of block, etc
