War Thunder is a highly detailed vehicle combat game containing over 2000 playable tanks, aircrafts and ships spanning over 100 years of development. Immerse yourself completely in dynamic battles with an unparalleled combination of realism and approachability.
The Khalil family seems to have been stealing a lot of money that was supposed to be going to the Open Hand foundation. It also appears as though The Completionist has been keeping the bits, subs, merch profits etc that were supposed to go to the Open Hand foundation.

The irony of putting a sponsor on a video talking about charity fraud lmao.
Are we getting receipts for the Karl Jobst Legal Defence Fund?
I commented in the last video about how I've donated hundreds to them for dementia/ Alzheimer's research. Since then, I've pulled all of proofs and documentation, and filed a formal complaint and have also filed for a civil suit, for anyone interested the case is filed in Saint Clair Michigan and was filed 11/27/23. Will be posting updates
Curious how that will go

@@treyparkerofficialAre you just doing this solo? I feel like this situation would also work as a class-action suit to people who donated as well who want their money back as well
Best of luck to you, and to anyone else who follows suit.
The irony: If only they had donated at least that reported money to actual charity, their embezzlement of the other money would have gone completely unnoticed.
It’s likely that money is either sitting in their own bank accounts, stuffed in a mattress, or already spent. The reason it hasn’t been donated is there is no money left to donate.
@@YuengsNwingsWell I suppose that along with the yearly IRS filings there has to be at least some bank document to prove the account balance at the end of the tax period.
If not: Holy moly, the US tax system would have much more severe issues I guess.

They also spell 'San Francisco' incorrectly when discussing UCSF on their website (shown in Karl's other vids on this) 🤦♂
Scamming is one thing, scamming with a CHARITY is far more diabolical
It literally happens all the time lol. A sky high percentage of charities are scams or have heavy scam elements. Easiest way to make suckers part with their cash is to tug on their heart strings
Scamming with a charity to honor your deceased mother is demonic
Hot take. Scamming with a charity is probably the most ethical type of scam if we're going to rank such a thing. A bunch of scams involve stealing money from people who can't afford to lose anything such as retired folks who lose thousands of dollars to "Microsoft tech support". Taking people's money for a charity without actually donating the money to a charity is taking money away from people who can't afford to lose it at least.
@@UOUPv2 yeah robbing a blind person is more ethnical than robbing a person with vision 🤔
And using the tragic sickness that afflicted a close family member to do so. 🤮
A lot of people are focusing on how disgusting it is to steal from a charity and rightfully so. But for me as someone who was raised by their grandmother and lost her to Alzheimer’s, it is far more grotesque to me that they have been stealing from the kindness of strangers in their deceased mother’s name. It’s one thing to rationalize stealing from strangers, plenty of criminals do that. But to do it in the name of the one you loved and lost is a special type of evil
Agreed. They are victimizing their mother. If I die, and my kids use my death as a way to steal money through the kindness of strangers, I'd feel absolutely violated if I could see that happening.
@@machineofadreambro, Jirard’s mom died rather quickly as his Career was taking off from being a small time youtuber who works at Best Buy. They “Donated” the mom’s body to research. @@laeeg7412woahh dude, thats too much
If you go back like 6 years…when UA-cam was changing its algorithm, Jirard complained in almost every video about not making enough money. Now look at him today and he has less views than ever, yet somehow owns a studio, pays a staff of writers, and makes enough profit to live in a highly expensive area. The dude is stealing money somehow.
Somehow ? It’s clear how in this video
It isn't 100% proof of guilt but there's more than enough to initiate a formal investigation by the authorities.
I remember that! He was almost on the verge of tears!
Lol I always wondered how he afforded a studio with staff and writers and everything. Like his videos get maybe a few 100k views at most, not sure how someone can make enough money off of that to afford all that, well I guess we may know now
Okay this is not trying to defend Jirard at all, but there's also the introduction of his Twitch streaming and Patreon revenue, he had a job at G4 that paid well, etc. Sure his YT ad revenue is probably low but he has other revenue streams, like most other content creators do these days.
It's important that people (specially the less mature / less aged ones) understand that this is not just another controversy, just another internet drama...
it's a structured crime, with massive deception, audience and professionals being deceived and used as a front for a scam, possibly embezzlement, not to mention the real victims being harmed... the ones suffering from the mental diseases that are not getting the help promised. Very disgusting stuff indeed.
Well at best they can claim criminal negligence, at worst literal embellishment. Best case for them is they're terrible accountants and they've been too lazy to find a way to donate the money. This one still looks incredibly bad though as Jirard claims he knew the money hadn't gone anywhere for over a year and didn't do anything about it himself.
The worst case is that money may not actually even exist and they pocketed all of it. We don't actually have any proof the money is in the bank account like they claim and at most we just have their personal filing and Jirard claiming he knew it was just sitting in an account. It could just be them pushing the problem away or hiding away till they can find money to replace it.
@@Skylancer727 Not quite. If they spent the money that they got through a charity filing, they passed around the tax man on the way. He really does not like that. Especially when its clearly a plan set up to do it and not some strange accident or failure to understand the law. Tax evasion is the most serious of the crimes listed, and the most likely to be prosecuted to the fullest extent.
Negligence, fraud, misrepresenting yourself as helping the less fortunate? That's all well and good as far as crime and punishment goes but not paying your taxes? That's a line you cant cross. Despite not being able to nail Al Capone on the violent criminal charges, they got him for tax evasion because of unclaimed wealth he had and it was enough to put him away for the rest of his life.
@booradley6832 I think people way under estimate how many people get away with tax evasion for decades. As long as the numbers are reported in a way that doesn't stand out noticeablely they could easily get away with it. Al Capone as you said was charged with tax fraud from his illegitimate business. Even if your business is illegal its still by law requires to pay taxes. But he ran that business for 16 years till being charged.
Even Trump is just now being charged with filing reports on the values of his properties inaccurately even though he's been doing so for over 20 years. I mean he was even reporting Trump Tower as being a whole floor higher since it was first established and that was even in the news back then. The government doesn't know everything.
Yeah literally, this TikTok generation think everything is just drama you take sides on. This is fucking theft if proven correct man 😂
@@Skylancer727I don't think even your best case checks out. Even if they were lazy, it is entirely permissible to use a charity's revenue to pay for a third party accountant to take care of such affairs for you - meaning you don't have to do a damn thing. The fact they have not means there is only one answer.
The most messed up part about this is that he lost HIS MOM to dementia. He has first hand experience with the illness and still decided to scam people by using his story to draw people to a fake charity. If this was premeditated this is another level of evil
His mom never had dimentia.
It was a control tactic cause she wanted a divorce and spent 500k with her new man.
She was then forced to doctors and had dimentia show she didn’t have the power to divorce.
Jirard obviously holds Ill will towards his mom for trying to leave his dad
It doesn’t matter that he lost his mom and it doesn’t matter if it’s premeditated. Idk how people look at morality this way. What matters is the impact on the victims
There are people who would sell their parents for whatever they could. Steal from them, rob them, etc. It sucks when it ends up being someone you least expect, but that's why they are so successful. You never expect them to be that person.

Hi Karl. I am an accountant and i think your approach to this as a non accountant has been very fair. I have audited charities before and we identify materiality very low for charities. That means we do a lot of testing. In cases where cash receipts from doner's are material we will qualify our audit reports. Im very interested in whether the auditors qualified their report. A cash balance of R600k is clearly material. So i would love to know what their Annual Financial Statements (AFS) say. Based on their AFS and its auditor's report, even the auditors may be in trouble
i think you should request their AFS in order to see the auditor's report. It will tell you a lot
If this is a legitimate tip, I would contact Karl through his business email listed on his Twitter. He likely will not see this comment.
@@garthmuller4468 Auditor reports don't exist for a charity that small; they're generally only required unless you're a publicly traded company or a party requests it contractually like a lender. @@jellywillreturn in my country we have auditing regulations for all charities and as an accountant/auditor my firm has performed a lot of audits engagements on charities and have prepared Annual Financial Statements in this regard. We have to issue an annual audit report where we indicate whether we were not able to substantiate all cash donations received. Unless the charities provide supporting documentation that provide a sufficient audit trail. I cannot see how the golfing cash donations, youtube donations etc were not material. I would love to know if this charity received an unqualified auditor's report. I just cannot see it. And if so, i would approach the US auditors regulators to find out. SomeOrdinaryGamers also did a good job explaining that net profits from the golfing events do not matter. Gross revenue matters. Just saw the response video, and that triggered a thought. Jirad claims that they changed from private foundation to public charity in 2016, which does change some donation rules, but between 2014 and 2016 as a private foundation they were required to donate a minimum of 5% of the foundation's value every year in a rolling average throughout each year. Governmental documents make my eyes bleed, but my folks put together a private foundation from my grandparents wealth after they passed and that's been one of my folks discussions every year, making sure they have kept above that minimum. And after that, public charities usually have disbursement minimums but I am unaware of what they are.

Karl, unfortunately I think you’ve made a mistake in this video. You said that the golf cup accidentally stated that they were benefiting dementia itself, instead of benefiting research. Based on what we now know, it was no accident - by withholding the money raised, they have literally benefited dementia as that money was not used to research a cure throughout the last almost decade.

Just looking at the sponsors for the golf tournaments made me realize something - there's a lot of very powerful companies that will want Girard's head on a platter for scamming them.
If the IRS gets involved, those companies will quickly want to distance themselves from Jirard and they will likely hand over financial documents about exactly how much money they gave him. This situation is so messed up.
Jup, you may get away with scamming normal people, but scamming a company? Now that is asking for jail time.
Especially because suing him might actually be a PR win for these companies.
That is the first thing I thought about as well. This is about to get ugly.

Well, looks like TheCompletionist did a response video. Curious to see what happens NOW.
This is so rough to watch unfold. I've been a fan of Super Beard Bros for a long time, and I always saw Jirard as one of the nicer and more genuine people on the platform. I was even subbed to their Patreon up until these videos came out. I keep hoping that this is a case of negligence or laziness, but the more info that comes out, the less I can believe that. This just feels like a shameful display of fraud. I hope that people who chose to be kind and donate and were subsequently taken advantage of are filing complaints and claims right now. I want to see this charity fully investigated and all the details published.
Anybody else remember when Greg left the completionist claiming Jirard was dishonest and forced him out? Always thought that was funny
A lot of things changed after that. The show wasn't the same.
It was my time where i stopped watching his videos because, as many others, something felt off from Jirard.

It's been a while and honestly I would've preferred if the Completionist had fixed that conniving persona he displayed, but apparently he truly kept thinking he was smarter than everyone

Its the reason New Game Plus was made because its done to go back over all the games that were wiped from the Completionist backlog as Greg was the one to request having all the vids taken down and Jirard at the time respected that request but it made Greg look like a total controlling a**hole given Jirard at the time was one of the best people you could meet. Isn't Jirard arab? many of them are known to cheat the system and steal money in the US.
@@lajeandom I mean the people who donated and were scammed won't see the money which is a shame. But the government gets their cut when they pay damages to the courts. Even if that money is not in the country, they'll likely serve jail time/prison time if convicted.
Stereotypes exist for a reason and humans are creatures of habit, it's not hard to read between the lines if you're familiar with what you're seeing. I picked up on some unsavory vibes from Jirard years ago, just some noted oddities and a peculiar seeming lack of genuineness, and that never changed, I'm really not surprised that he has skeletons in the closet, I'm not surprised his issues are ongoing, and further it doesn't surprise me that it's a family affair. I wouldn't be surprised if a decent portion of the missing money funded his channel's purchases, especially the big ticket ones, and I wouldn't be surprised if the family wanted a bag, especially after Jirard later found any amount of success as a content creator, then unsurprisingly the missing money ended up being hidden by that very channel's own charity drive; it all seems cyclical yet it's a downhill spiral.
And unsurprisingly Jirard panics when called out and doesn't have the balls to face his own issues or the situation at hand. Let's hope he gets prison without bail, let's watch him complete jail, being bubba's cellmate and all. I wouldn't be surprised at this point if Jirard was already looking for a way out, while his content could remain infinite, a lot of the sources of what he can do have been drying up, and I wouldn't be surprised if his golden parachute was going to be selling off his Nintendo eShop collection, among other big ticket items, charity fraud and theft aside. The panic displayed in the call is indicative of being caught before he had his exit, afraid of the loss that's to come, especially with asset seizure as he probably has no liquid assets. This case could become very interesting to watch, depending on how much missing money there actually is, especially with the scope of the situation, though I won't be surprised if the government takes their sweet time to actually do something.
I have never heard about the dude, what do you mean by "family plan passed down"?
It makes you wonder did he ever donatte the Nintendo WiiU and DS downloads to the archive organization or is it still in their possession. The funniest thing about this is that people are shocked that there are many individuals who would and will scam with charity. Non profits, and other charity entities are all a huge business for those who run them. Even when ran "legitimately" they pocket a load of money each year. With CEOs earning up to $250,000 and executive directors up to $100,000. That is not the kind of money you expect people to earn in this type of organization, but it is. You better bet your gullible butts that most people who get into charities are in it for the salary and the job is simple - you ask people for money and use a disease or a group of people who are suffering and you have the best promotional ads money can buy.
Never EVER trust a charity set up by a multi-millionaire or god forbid a billionaire. Literally just manipulating the books for tax breaks. So not only do they not contribute to society by paying their fair share of tax, they also steal regular people's money so it can't do any good.

They were all proud and responsible and dedicated to their causes. One of those organizations had local political enemies that got them audited and inspected every few years, but no fault was ever found.
I just wanted to add some anecdotal evidence that there are a lot of good organizations and charities out there who do the right thing, and that this, pray tell, is the exception.
As someone who works at a non-profit thank you!! Like, im not necessarily paid by one funding source. My job is partially funded by so many different grants that are earmarked for certain things…it’s so complicated lol. We take it very seriously
I've worked for a number of local non-profits over the years as a graphic designer and maybe 20% have been honest. One had the executive director finding a loophole to give herself a loan of 80k to use as a downpayment on a new house and when reporters broke the news, the board hired her daughter as a transition while a new person was brought in, who was fired and the original ED was rehired after the attention blew over. Had another charity hire their friends at outrageous prices, like paying a friend 2k a month to just host their website and then another 300 to update a single page. There's definitely some great charities out there; I'm working with one now but so many of them look good to the public while the backend is using every loophole they can and rely on volunteers to accomplish what they get donations for.
@@maryamdear2122 This exactly I also work for a local non-profit, I have to prove down to the penny how that money is being used since most of my grants are supported by the fed and state. I hate when these situations happen and it puts a negative light on many orgs that do good work.
Most non profits really are that, non profits and they are usually extremely transparent. I've donated money before and they all have some finances statistics or whatever the hell, open to the public (not lust authorities). Their books check out.

Quite curious if you can weigh in on some of the legal specifics about what's going on here. I'm also curious if you've ever seen a nonprofit appearing to just sit on its donations like Open Hand. I've seen plenty of shady nonprofits that pay their donations directly into owners' salaries and personal expenses, but I've never personally heard of one claiming to just take donations and not do anything with them.
We would all LOVE to eat your takeout on this matter.
2:10 The other problem is that money sitting in a bank account burns away due to inflation. Just consider the fact that in 2022 alone, inflation stood at around 8%, which means that around 50,000 dollars simply disappeared in real terms. Through negligence and incompetence, or maybe even malice, they've squandered probably 100k in real value over the years. That should be a crime. People thought nearly100% of their money was going to a charity, but now, even if all of the money was donated, only 80% of the value of that original money could be donated, with the other 20% just lost to the ether. That doesn't include administration fees. That doesn't include the opportunity cost of what that money could have done over the past years. That money could have been working to help find cures or fund research. That money could have just sat in an index fund and made 10% a year. So, considering the opportunity cost, this is even more tragic.
Exactly, many charities put money in investments, which is perfectly legal. They could've done that at the very least. But it in even a savings account.
What you wrote about the finances also applies to the charity side of it:
