If anyone is wondering about the quality, this was my reaction to watching the livestream of the Gameplay Reveal which doesn't really do the game justice. Streams are limited to 6000-8000 kbps and after re-posting the video to youtube from my stream the quality suffers even more. Definitely watch the 4K footage if you have only seen my video! @@chrisswoope9629 Elden Ring has the tarnished, which is similar to hollowing. Fromsoft repeats similar motifs in every game, but they always manage to put a twist on it which is impressive considering this series has been going on for over 12 years.
it looks alot more fun than what we got with ds3 besides basically any of the ringed city bosses whihc were all fantastic besides midir which was more of an annoyance than actually any fun

Love how much hate ER got for reused assets... meanwhile every other developer does it 10x more. It's like people have no clue how hard it is to make games. It's a choice for what and where your time goes into. They ignore that there's more brand new assets than most other games. When something isn't broke then went fix it? I just remember how stupid this was during this time. I also think people don't realize that From isn't a huge developer and didn't have a huge game focused publisher(EA,Sony,Microsoft or Ubisoft)... just because they make such high-quality products doesn't mean they had infinite resources. After the same on this game though they are definitely going to be bigger. 20 million in its first year and who knows how many since. Forget that though because that didn't make a new parry animation
It's going to be interesting to see how they balance this game. Like in previous souls games will the enemies in one area stay the same health or will they scale with you. Maybe things like the carriage being pulled by those giants is not a fight you can easily win early game but can breeze it by late game.
Can't wait to see Dist chain 2 spirit springs into an out of bounds area and walk off a cliff to the final boss fight and beat it with 34min IGT....lol
Dist is such a pro speedrunner but my favorite content of his is when he's just having fun lmao. I couldn't care less about Elden Ring but he's so excited it's precious
They do use a lot of animations and sound effects from DS3 but I think it’s because they wanna focus more on the content of the game. Maybe people will call that lazy but think about the map and how big it is, now add verticality onto that as well. Spells looks real dope tho
@@TheFizio Like I said some will call that lazy, and you’re not wrong with that opinion. But if they focus more on the content of the game rather than cool new assets I think it’s better for the longevity of Elden Ring. It will be much more replayable and I rather take that any day of the week

just my guess, but in DS you had multiple magic/miracle stats too, so maybe Mind = Manapool, Int = Spell scaling, Faith = Miracle scaling and Arcane = Spirit Summoning/Spellslots? I dunno^^
Very slight complaint and I'm not really upset about it... it seemed like they re-used a lot of animations like the stab/kick, etc. But man there's so much cool stuff in here I can't wait. I wonder if the day/night cycle will affect certain bosses or stealth. If so I wonder if there's a rest mechanic to let time pass quickly.
Keep in mind those sounds and assets may not be the ones in the final version. Usually things are placeholders for a long time before release, as finishing a new chest open sound probably doesn't have priority over other aspects of development. I'd also wager that what they showed here is not their most current build of the game. But who knows it could release with those sounds and assets, these are just my thoughts!

They are good and effective at what they are supposed to do and it makes the game feel familliar/homie in a good way (at least in my opinion). I want my games from the Soulsborne guys to feel like soulsborne^^
Creating everything from the ground up would take this game x3 longer … and at the end of the day they are trying to make money , and we as consumers , wants more content … open world = more content is more important than having new stuff

@@potatoman7594 DS2 had some noticable different animations (like Backstab, Ripostes, etc), but DS1 and 3 basically had the exact same ones for most actions. And personally i didnt feel like the animations here were a detriment, it made me feel right at home^^ a good kind of familiarity you know?^^
Yea much as i enjoyed Sekiro eventually, i was bummed on release because i went in blind expecting another souls game like the previous only to get meme'd on by the parry simulator. Which like i said was fun once i realized what i was playing but i'm very happy that Elden Ring is basically Dark Souls 4 instead of a brand new experience.
gotta say game looks way better with dist's reaction lol. Personally I am not a fan of Dark Souls(I love Bloodborne tho) so the whole reveal was Meh to me at first time watching but, listening dist's commentaries makes the game looks more interesting.
I LOVED Sekiro and I've only played a few hours of each of the other From Soft games and I feel the same way. Some of the sword arts and dodges are making me feel good about the gameplay
The company went full on with the design and visuals. People complain about the reused assets, but it would be trivial for the company to replace them. It must be intentional rather than laziness. After all, I imagine we will find out in lore that this is related to the dark souls world in some form. This is in spirit an addition to the dark souls series which makes me elated.
The only thing that bothered me is recycled animations and souns bits, but if it was done because the game is SO big and full of content, I'm fine with that.
"Fine" - FromSoft 2031, Elden Ring 2 is released. The skybox is exactly the same, every enemy with a sword does the same attacks and elevators have the Petite Londo texture
@@TheFizio lol I mean obviously I'd like some improvements but people have been defending its PS2 graphics and clunky feel for this long, I'm not surprised With that being said, I am a bit disappointed it's not quite as fluid looking as Sekiro. I'm not too happy about some of the animations but I'm just hoping everything else makes up for it

It's also a dev build of the game. New assets are one of the last things that get added. They will likely be changed before the game releases.
