I’ve been practicing this fader technique. I never knew you could use the colour fx on on the filter. I was putting pink noise on the opposite channel to the music 😆. Glad this video came out. That’s a much better way
Hi Jamie, its meet again, thank you for this tips in this video, the first time i watched this I wasn't able to make the color effects work, but watched it the second time and now I got it. I'm using a DDJ RR bought it because of your review. thank you! Attn: (Pioneer executives, you need this guy to endorse your products, He can really explore all the features of your products and make a good tutorials.)
Thanks again for this video. Been working mostly with Beat Matching and Phrases... and have yet to really break through into the Effects parts.. Much appreciated. Will definitely watch this video a few times and start to try it out on some of my routines. Thank you.
Useful tricks! If you click on the three grey points just next to CFX panel or the only blue point you can use two differents CFX at each Deck, for example: Filter on Deck 1 and Noise on Deck 2 and you can control it independently. It's awesome!
In Serato i'm not sure if there's a dedicated function for this but if you have an open channel(3 or 4) you can load a white noise track to it and leave it looping. Then just play with the upfader
Great work.... I used to incorporate that trans effect into a lot of my sets, at the right times, of course. That was on Traktor Pro. Since then, I've upgraded my controller to the DDJ-SR2, which is a Serato controller. My question is, how can you apply those changes on Serato DJ PRO?
virtual dj has more features and its easier to use n swap the filter knob for anything...i highly recomend switching especially now that u can take out the vocals or enhance it( i used to use serato)
Thank you for this tip, will be practicing & using it in my Livestream DJ set tomorrow! Quick question Jamie, is Rekordbox your personal software of choice to perform with currently?
@@DreamPrashant as a British white middle-aged man, I don't understand a word of it, but music is still the food of life and I love it! ua-cam.com/video/FQUZEyNrtLM/v-deo.html A great mix and I love the visualiser too!
So I when I insert noise fx in the filter knob I can no longer put filter on track A while putting noise fx in the other side of the mixer at the same time ?
Manually? Yes. Automatically? No. TP3 has the mixer fx. Just click on the "noise" fx. I have my denon mc4000 mapped where I can switch mixer fx and the filter knob controls the fx.
You can perform this trick with any controller/software that allows you to switch to the NOISE colour effect. That's all Rekordbox controllers, Traktor pro users and certain Serato controllers including the DDJ SX3 and DDJ 1000 SRT.
I can't think of a single reason to do this manually, regardless of skill level (although it's vital to know how to do it manually as well). With the trans effect taking the load of one hand you can introduce some other creative element. Reducing workload as a DJ is key to me. The more you can do with less effort, the more time you have for song selection and crowd interaction and have less to worry about going wrong.
@@mgtow-balance3409 A good point, I don't really mess with them. Ultimately effects need a regular beat to work correctly. You can adjust the grid in a track manually, but if the tempo changes you're kind of stuck. I would try getting the grid right on the section you want to use the effect on. That's the only thing I can think of for that problem. Usually when tempos waver they stay the same for a few bars.
Thanks for the Tutorial Mate. I have another question to the DDJ-400. In Recordbox there are 4 Effekts, but i just know how to play the first and the Last FX. Is there any way to acivate the second or third FX with the controler ? Atm i change the FX while playing, buit it would be much easier when i could use 2 more FX Channels. Thanks for the help !
Awesome tutorial. Can I use a noise sample instead of a noise effect? I don't have noise effect in my software, but can use samples (though I cannot filter the samples) Thanks!
Somewhat unrelated, but I noticed you have only a limited number of FX1 options to scroll and choose between, how do you cut the ones out that you don't use? I've been trying to figure that out since I only use a handful and don't like having to scroll through all of them with the controller FX select button.
In Serato DJ Pro you can use the Noise Sweep effect to recreate this. Some Pioneer DJ controllers such as the DDJ SX3 and DDJ 1000 SRT also feature the noise color effect. Unfortunately you can't do this in Serato DJ Lite however.

Hey is there any keyboard shortcut for changing color FX
Or can we map it !???

Thanks dude!
What laptop are u using (year, gigs)?
"you will always find that one hand is probably stronger then the other at doing an action like this" I see what you did there 😂
Can the Colour Effect be added to Serato? is there an expansion available?
it's default on the Pioneer SZ
I'm currently working my way through your online course...is this feature available in traktor pro3; using a S2Mk3? ...or an equivalent feature/trick?
Manually? Yes. Automatically? No. TP3 has the mixer fx. Just click on the "noise" fx. I have my denon mc4000 mapped where I can switch mixer fx and the filter knob controls the fx.
Yes you set up the fx in the traktor 3 settings. You go on mixer settings if I'm not mistaking

i noticed, tho, that the autofunction was not exactly on beat
@@mgtow-balance3409 It should be, if your beat grid is set up correctly. It's always spot on for me as long as the grid is on point.
