Yes! Song selection is, bottom line, the most important part of DJing. But, the focus of the video is on technique, so I didn't discuss that anymore here. This is more of the "how" rather than the "what" :)
Sure, but if everything blends together perfectly it might also become a bit stale. So i think it's fun to mix it up (pun intended) every so often to keep the crowd on their toes ^^
you may have great ingredients, but if you don't know how to work with them, your dish is going to taste like shit song selection is the most important part of DJing, but it's not an excuse to avoid learning relevant technique
@@DJTimeLockEhh, not really. I’ve been going to clubs (and DJing in them) for nearly thirty years. All you need to _get_ a crowd dancing is a bouncy groove and a bit of familiarity. If it’s a song they’re even somewhat familiar with, they’ll get engaged (which is why any Michael Jackson song is an instant party starter). Once you have them dancing and on your side, as long as you keep the groove going, you’re good. I’ve found that these James Hype-type of transitions are what make a crowd lose interest. It gives them audio whiplash, and it tires their minds out quickly. You can’t do peak time all the time. As Carlo said in this video, if you are going to use these flashy techniques, keep them to a bare minimum. One in the beginning of your set, one at the peak, and one towards the end of your set.
one thing i learned from my (relatively short) journey so far is that if i fk up a mix, DO NOT PANIC and just act as if it was intentional and keep hyping up the crowd, because they usually don’t gaf unless it’s a fest or smth and even then, don’t let one mistake ruin the night. for example, at a party i was at, my friend was playing and i was in the booth, he PANICKED and i told him to just breathe and quickly play the next song

I was doing the same with EQ transitions without knowing much, just experimenting. Thanks for your videos, they help me to feel more confident and to perfect my technique.
One thing to add on eq'ing is that it's really something you can feel out in the moment. Instead of following a procedure every transition which will get repetitive, just get good intuition of how a mix responds when you eq and allow yourself to be creative every time
That's true! It's hard to pin down in a video, but there's a billion and a half ways to play with the EQ per transition to get everything right. This was just a basic dive into it

I don’t understand, at the beginning of the video you said the “pros” mix by slightly lowering the current songs low end, while gradually bringing in the next song with the low end at neutral position. Then later in the video you completely contradicted that by bringing in the next song with the low end all the way down. Do you just do this to mix it up? Can you explain?
Most Pros use the first method and that goes for DJs who DJ Hip Hop, Top 40, House, etc. The second part is a specialized way House DJs mix using all their EQs :)

I've done a few actually! Check out some of my older mixes, especially the DJControl Mix ones
Randomly came.across this video and all it's done is trigger my age old fantasy of being a dj 😂
Why not answer the call and give it a shot? It's a fun skill to learn!
Is there like a bars on you know survive DJ pro like you know like on the screen where you you know try to play music and then you will read it
I'm not quite sure what you mean buddy 😬
@@djcarlo oh
hello dear remixer from Indonesia
Hello fellow South East Asian!
salute
Hope you learned something new in this video! :D
🔥
Glad you like the video! What was your favorite lesson so far?
I don’t understand, at the beginning of the video you said the “pros” mix by slightly lowering the current songs low end, while gradually bringing in the next song with the low end at neutral position. Then later in the video you completely contradicted that by bringing in the next song with the low end all the way down. Do you just do this to mix it up? Can you explain?
Most Pros use the first method and that goes for DJs who DJ Hip Hop, Top 40, House, etc. The second part is a specialized way House DJs mix using all their EQs :)
@@djcarlo Been playing for many years and never used your method, what you doing is new age crap for commercial tracks.
Yo I have a rev 1 use serato I’m trying to use reckoned his it’s so weird my tracks not doing anything can’t press play on my controller but If I press play on Mac I hear in controller headphones help
Oh man, that's strange. Are you using the latest version of Serato, and do you have all the drivers installed?
@@djcarlo no this is for reckordbox I use serato already
Plz reply
Laptop is too weak for using stems, the rest of the video was very useful though thanks
Oh man! Well, maybe on the next upgrade? 🥳
Kindly guide me how to operate flx6gt with mobile.
Uhhhh, what DJ program are you using?

can u teach how the release fx work on flx4 and what different are there
The FX would be dependent on your software with the FLX4. Only difference I'd say is that it has Smatt Fader and Smart CFX
If i already released a song on spotify independently can it get signed by a record label in the future???
I don't know, as that's outside my field of expertise, but I've asked a friend who worked for radio, and he's seen it happen before, so I guess it's possible! 😆
@@djcarlo Thank you so much for helping me out,you always reply to my questions, thank you so much that means a lot to me,love ❣️ your content and also your attitude towards the people, thank you again
Why always Pioneer DJ? Would you please share some techniques with Numark or Denon?
I'm just most comfortable with Pioneer's layout, but neaely all these techniques and methods are possible with any DJ equipment, especially the techniques that solely focus on transitions with EQs and faders
hello DJ Carlo can you show me websites what is have the extended intro, outro but it's free
I don't think that exists. You'll need to pay the people who make those edits as well 🤭
Is the stems possible on rekordbox
Yup! Check out my Stems Guide for more details
