    ATailoredImage and BeckysDIYColorCharts Esty stores on Esty both have a swatch chart for all of the current colors of the Gelly Roll Gel Pens broken down into the different types of Gelly Rolls like Moonlight and Classic as examples pf two different categories of Gelly Roll Pens.

    I didn't know the original ones were in the 6 size too. Great, as I use them to cover lines. But also great to know the new colours are in 10 too now, because that's handy too

      And they're such lovely, muted colours - hard to find in gel pens. :)

    You were like a kid at Christmas when you were opening that packet, Connie! It's lovely to see someone so excited and enthusiastic about something they're really passionate about 🥰 Maybe you could use them on a colouring page if you had time so we can see them in use. I've never owned any Gelly Rolls before. They're quite expensive where I live, and I'm also like you; I don't think I'd use the bright fluro/neon type ones as much. The set you've just bought is really pretty 😍 And the 1mm nib looks much handier for colouring!

      So glad you enjoyed it! :) I do tend to get excited (maybe too much so ;)) about colouring (and chemistry!). I've made a note about a possible Gelly Roll Moonlight colouring video - I'll see what I can do the future. Thanks for the suggestion!

    Thanks for sharing! I wish gellyroll made more dark moonlight colors. Most of them are too light for the way I use them. 417 and 422 are my faves from the jewel tone set.

      @colouringchemist  Місяць тому

      Those are beautiful colours - 422 is a STUNNING colour! I really like 438, as well. It's a lovely, deep rich blue with violet undertones. There's a nice dark grey in the grey set, too - it's #444.
      Glad you enjoyed the video! :)

    Thank you!!!! Mr, Chemist sound adorable!!!! You make me smile!!! Thank you for the gel pen update...I have a love hate with those pens...especially Signo white! It has never worked for me and I think they hate me!! Maybe a deep dive on getting gel pens to flow if they get clogged or separate?? Is there something anemically to do? You are bringing joy to the world thru chemistry!!!! Happy Saturday!!

    • @colouringchemist
      @colouringchemist  Місяць тому

      Glad you liked it! :) Mr. Colouring Chemist is kind of like a big kid sometimes - he can be kind of adorable (but I might be biased ;) :)).
      Gel pens can be tricky beasts. They like a bit of texture but not too much. If you're trying to put the Signo white overtop of coloured pencils where you've really burnished in the colour so that the area is almost glass-smooth, it would be really hard to get any gel pen to work on that surface.
      I've never had the ink in a gel pen separate but I also don't live in a warm climate - maybe that has something to do with it? I try to store my gel pens either horizontally or with their tips down - I find that if I store them with their tips up (like in a jar) then they don't want to work when I go to use them. I'm thinking gravity must pull the ink away from the tip just enough to create a tiny air pocket so that the ink that's in the barrel then can't get to the tip to flow. The flow of ink is due to a kind of "wicking" effect (probably some aspect of intermolecular forces at work there :)) and the ink that's flowing out of the tip of the pen is causing the ink lower down in the barrel to be pulled up and out of the nib. If an air pocket forms between the nib and the rest of the ink in the barrel, that wicking effect is broken. You can sometimes get the pens to start working again by tapping them, tip down, on a piece of paper to try to get rid of that air pocket. You can also take the pen and "whip" the tip downwards. Don't shake it!!! You want all the force to be moving the ink down towards the nib - shaking up and down is moving the ink up and down and up and down... You get the picture. :)
      The tips technically shouldn't get clogged as there isn't enough space around the tiny roller ball nib for the ink to dry out but you could always try holding just the metal tip of the pen in a small dish of hot water for 30 seconds or so to see if that dissolves anything that might be dried on.
      Hope that helps! :)

    Hi Connie! Came back to this video to tell you that I just ordered the Moonlight 1.0 jewel and earth 10x set from Amazon Canada on sale 43% off for $7.53! Thought you might want to know :)

    • @colouringchemist
      @colouringchemist  18 днів тому

      Hmmm... I just went and looked and, even though the title of the listing says "bold", if you hover over the pic of the product, the number on the pen caps says "06" which are the fine nibs. I hope you get the bold nibs! :)

    • @Ninjamom_colours
      @Ninjamom_colours 18 днів тому

      @@colouringchemist OMG. I didn’t even look at the packaging! Just the listing! Rookie mistake. Well, one day shipping - I’ll know tomorrow if I have two sets of 06 that I’ll be sending back! The description says “10 Bold Tip” which I took to mean the size of the nib because it also says “10 Pk” in the description.

    • @colouringchemist
      @colouringchemist  18 днів тому

      @@Ninjamom_colours I know - Amazon listings can be deceptive sometimes. :) I bought the bold nib set on Amazon US - I don't know if I've ever seen the bold nib Earth/Jewel tone set on Amazon Canada. I think the "10 Pk" just means that there are 10 pens in the package - which is true for both the fine-nibbed set and the bold-nibbed set. :) If you're looking for the bold-nibbed set, this is the link I purchased from: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0D4MJX8Z5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Do the larger nib ones run out faster than the other ones?

    • @colouringchemist
      @colouringchemist  Місяць тому

      The ink comes out faster with a larger nib but I think how quickly a pen runs out is more dependent on how big an area you are colouring. :) If you colour lots of larger areas with a small-nibbed pen or a larger-nibbed pen, the amount of ink used should be the same - it will just take a lot longer with the smaller-nibbed pen to get the same coverage.
      Hope that helps!
