I love these! They look so realistic. They take me outside on a Summer night. Anytime Fireflies get into the house I catch them in a plastic cup and take them back outside.

I live in the Southwestern desert and sadly, I've never seen a real firefly before. After seeing this awesome technique (that even I can do), I'm going to be coloring fireflies all over the place! Thanks for testing all the dot mediums too. My mind immediately went to the Sakura glaze pens, and the glittery gold/silver Sakuras...but now I don't have to test those because you already did. :) Thanks a bunch.

Love this video. This technique would also be good for Christmas lights. It would add a little pizzaz without becoming the focal point. Nice job!

I love this!!! and I laughed out loud about the ugly bugs!! when I was a kid every summer my mom and I would go to Ohio for a couple of months. I collected fire flies in a jar...I was fascinated with them....they amazed me. However I remember thinking that they were indeed an ugly bug...not cute at all. So that is that!! Loved you content!!! Thank you!

Now that was so much fun - just a little thing like that! I think this would make great Christmas lights too. Thank you for the video.
I almost fell over when you said that you struggle with random - I have the same problem and thought it was just me! I'm not in science, but years working on Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint - it all has to look right - random would never work, lol. I find that I make boxes or triangles - it drives me crazy.😂😂😂😂

Christmas lights would look so neat! :) And yes - random is SO hard!! :D

Hello Connie Loved this thankyou. May i ask what medium are you going to use in your new Korean books. Not your books for watercolour but the others. I would really love to see as you mentioned some books had smooth paper? You also recommended to start with pale and neutral tones with the pitt pens. Are the smaller curated sets ok or rather single brushpens.I will have another look at your tutorial regarding the pitt pens as well.Take care 💐💐

Thank you for sharing this great technique, Connie! Although I don't have any pastel pencils but I'll definitely try it with gel pens!😊

You're welcome! You could even try it with some inexpensive chalk sticks from a dollar store. :)

On the darker colors can you either put white under or on top of the dark colors to lighten them? Seems to me being chalk it should mix quite readily. So a dark pink should end up being light pink. I would try it, but I don’t have any pastel pencils.

It definitely works! :) After I finished this video, I had the same thought and tried it out. :) I'll probably use that technique on a page I'm currently working on.

Maybe posca pens in pastel colors work too. Instead of Sakura gel pens.

I think you're right - pastel-coloured Posca pens (or other acrylic pens) should definitely work! :)
