For anyone who has ever written with a classic BB or 3B nib from a European manufacturer, Pilot's Signature nib is pretty much identical to that: a Pilot BB ground with a smooth ski slope curve all around the tipping from heel to toe(instead of the more singular contact patch on a regular BB or C nib), with the sides chopped off to give it a hint of blockiness. More forgiving of rotation than a stub, and more accepting of a variety of pen angles than a BB or C nib, which can have the contact patch ground at slightly too high of an angle for some Western writers who hold their pens very flat to the paper. Of course, the stub has more line variation and the C has a wider maximum stroke width, so you have to weigh up what you value the most.

Is the Pilot Glance F nib thinner than the custom 74 F nib? Will you make writing simple of Pilot Glance video?

I have a pilot custom 823 clear demo with an FA nib that I purchased from Japan. I love it. I also have 743 with an FA nib. For me it’s a perfect every day writer I enjoy handwriting and do a lot of journaling and let her writing. It adds character to my writing and isn’t as particular as a stub nib. I have not tried the pilot stub but intend to try it at the next pin show if I have an opportunity.

I'll have to try this nib. I find the usual Pilot stub nib to be too crisp -- that is too much like a crisp italic. Which makes it difficult for a leftie underwriter to get the right angle. In fact, I've had several of my Pilot stub nibs ground down to be smoother.

I appreciate this information, as I am really curious about the Signature nib. I still hope to try one before I invest. I have to say that I disagree somewhat with your assertion that stub nibs are hard-starting. I have many stub nibs and they are among my favorites. They do have to be held at a certain angle and for some, they may take getting used to, but the ones I have perform beautifully. Another interesting comparison would be between the Signature nib and a broad cursive italic nib, but that woild require tracking down a custom grind and finding one in gold to remove the gold vs. steel variable. Signature nib almost sounds like a "cursive stub" instead of a "cursive italic." Thanks, Daisy.

So the signature nib is going to produce wetter/thicker writing than the medium nib? I have a vanishing point fine nib and wanted to move up to the medium nib. I saw the signature nib and am now curious. Unfortunately I don’t live anywhere near a store that sells fountain pens.

It's going to be wetter and thicker than a Broad nib :).

I love the frequency of your videos! Although I can't connect to some of the topics because I don't own the items, your personalities are all so positive & vibrant that I just enjoy having your Yoseka NY vibes. I especially love the vlogs, team planner videos, and product-bestseller recaps. Thanks for the internet fun!

The more unique a nib is, the more specific its use becomes.
