Maybe the wheezes of the electric systems will do. (I personally find electric sounds pretty ok) Sure, we won't have the loud sounds anymore, but imagine the EVs equipped with LED designs on the body of the car. They'll look great, with this combo imo.
PS: Watch some onboards of the Audi R18 E tron quattro or Porsche 919 or Toyota TS050. They are hybrids, but you can hear the Electric assets. (Porsche and Toyota have electric engines, Audi has battery)
