" Auntie Mame " is my favorite movie of all time. Of the countless number of absolutely fantastic movies I include amongst my favorites, that's saying a lot about my adoration for " Auntie Mame ".
Hi james, wow that is high praise. I have to say it is in my top tier movies which is really high praise for me. There are probably 10 movies up there. Depending on my mood. It is a very very special movie for me as well.
My mom and I always watched this movie together and it did NOT matter what was going in. We just stopped whatever we were doing. How can anyone not LOVE this movie??? Life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death!!! ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
Oh, Robert… how I miss you. I spent so many wonderful movie nights with your insight and passion. I always felt you were talking directly with me. Hugs!
She is who I wanted to be when I grew up 😂 I desperately wanted to be an Auntie Mame to my niece and nephew, but I feared the sister in law 😂😜😂 Wonderful, Happy, and Inspiring 💕💕💕
@@CalTxDude Yup. But, it's been a while since I've seen "The Women", and "His Girl Friday" is my second favorite of hers. She's slapstick hilarious, and the perfect partner for Cary Grant.
In her Biography, Life Is a Banquet, Ms. Russell noted that she took to Auntie Mame so easily because she felt the character was that of her own sister..
Well that would be a neat trick since Rosalind Russell originated the role on stage in 1956, then Start in the film adaptation in 1958. For some unknown reason, Lucy decided to Do the boom adaptation of the 1966 Broadway musical 'Mame'!
OH!! Angela Lansbury starred in the Broadway musical Mame! I stand corrected, She did claimed it La Lansbury "stole" the part from her! LoL Even though, Miss Lansbury could sing and... Well, Lucy good warble. BUT! She did have Beatrice Arthur (original Vera in the '66 Broadway play) as her co-star to soften the caustic blow.
Auntie Mame the character bugs me. For all her carefree bohemian ways, Mame still knew that you needed money to survive. Mame immediately hooked up with the rich man from the South to assure she could keep up her bohemian ways. At the same time she used her bohemian ways to take the high ground over the Connecticut upper middle family who tried to pollute her nephew. Auntie Mame to me shows a lot of the same prejudice she accuses others of showing.
I always looked forward to hearing Robert talk. His voice was so calming and peaceful. Miss you ❤️🙏🌺

Totally agree...!! My favorite too!!!
This is my most favorite movie of all time! I have watched "Auntie Mame" well over 175 times over the years. ❤

No actress could have played the part of Aunty Mame !! She was phenomenal!!💕💕💕💕💕
I disagree. I think Rosalind Russell played the part beautifully.
A wonderful film with its heart in the right place with its firm stand against bigotry of any kind.
One of my all time favorite movies they don't make movies like this anymore
I've seen this movie 5 times in a theater, own the DVD and the movie poster. This movie has it all! Roz Russell IS Mame!
❤❤ This Movie is just wonderful, pure joy and happiness.❤❤ I think this movie is one of the best Comedies of all time.❤👍👍🎉

"Auntie Mame" had to be Rosalind Russell's best movie. She is beautiful & glorious, with just the right amount of camp.
It was 1 of My 3 top favorite performances of hers.
In addition...
The Women
His Girl Friday

I go back to this movie whenever life loses its sparkle, Auntie Mame never fails to bring it back. ✨
My favorite too! Rosalind Russell is brilliant.
The author had a wide ranging grasp regarding culture, open mind, goodness and love
RR should have won the Oscar for playing Auntie Mame.
This movie is EVERYTHING!!
I’ve adored this movie my entire life ❤
(😊I Just LOVE, LOVE This Movie. 🤗❤️❤️❤️❤️
I remember watching Auntie Mame when I was very young and ignorant. I truly enjoyed it anyway. It was FUNNY.
Miss you Robert Osbourne
Loved the movie, loved the book.

Met Robert Osborne years ago. He was a cool person. You got to live, live, live.
One year later...and I'm here y'all!!
Auntie Mame my absolute favorite movie. The best
The second film I ever saw in a movie theater.
My brother and i watched this on PBS in the late 80s.
We're both gay now.
This is NOT a coincidence!
Ros had the big number in Gypsy, too.
How can you compare something like Susan Hayward's last line in "I Want to Live" ("How the hell would you know"?) to any of the lines in any comedy?
I really don't think Roz stole from Lucy Ricardo playing this (Lucy Ball thought so)

@@CalTxDude It was rather pitiful seeing Lucy play that part, she should have retired quietly, imho.
@@donaldstanfield8862 It was cringeworthy.
Love Angela in this and many roles, bur Ros is Mame. The gold standard, benchmark.
I did not know that Robert Osborn had passed away in 2017. So sad to hear that news.
I knew that Robert Osborne passed away back in 2017. Rest in peace, R.O.
