This is fantastic. If you ever get the time, please dub all of the musical numbers from the stereo recording onto this video. And the video quality here is superior to any I've seen in circulation. This "Wonderful Town" remains the greatest of all kinescopes made from TV versions of Broadway musicals, and yet it remains unreleased. Earlier this month, the first-ever Blu-ray/DVD release of a live stage production of "Wonderful Town" was released in France, a production by the Toulon Opera, in English. It's pretty shocking, made even worse when you know that this fabulous '58 kinescope exists and remains unreleased..
@@123boink Yeah. Wonderful Town was written for her. Gypsy was already written in the stage version for MERMAN. I love Roz but Ethel should've probably done the film.
Now SHE was a trouper!.
This is great! Stunning choreography
I hear that when Roz left the show, the box office dropped so low they were forced to close. Her replacement was Carol Channing.
Carol supposedly got good reviews too she just wasn't Roz!
What do you think of the audio, the video, how they go, what do think of the great syncro? Nah, I just want to CONGA! (apologies to c&g)
Thanks!

i guess Im pretty randomly asking but does anybody know of a good site to stream new tv shows online ?
@Bruno Davian Flixportal =)
@Xzavier Adonis Thank you, I went there and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :) I really appreciate it!!
@Bruno Davian you are welcome :)
Where did you find such a pristine copy of this TV special? Is it on DVD?
Roz could sing in Wonderful Town but the singing in the film version of Gypsy was a bit problematic and she was partially dubbed.
She was completely dubbed in all songs except for Mr. Goldstone and the first part of Rose's Turn.

She really didn't need Lisa Kirk in Gypsy. If the studio had only had a little more faith.
@@Mandeley100Agreed. Interestingly, Natalie Wood, famous for being dubbed in West Side Story......DID her own singing in Gypsy!
