Wow, now that's really surprising. I've seen this handheld many times on AliExpress (and other similar "stores"), but due to very low price and very small size I've never thought, that there can be something good/decent in it. (and never was too interested about it). It's not a competition for Revo K101+, but it's surely far cheaper. I only wish that there could be bigger variety of cloned systems (usually its Famicom, Mega Drive and/or GBA) not to mention about slot for original carts.
The cloning Chinese market is so saturated twith below par products are astounding Mark. I can't believe that many are willing to spend their good hard earn money on units that could. But there are some good ones out that do put effort on trying to offer a good console without trying to cost too much to give you a fun product to play. As always another well done video kind sir.Keep up the great work! Anthony...
I think the appeal of these units is the price. In China they're probably the price of a few cans of coke or something like that. There are many though. I have another here which I'll video soon.
i think the reason the built in radio didn't worm for you was that it needs headphones plugged in. All of these built in radio functions do (even in smartphones) because the headphones work as the antenna and if there's nothing plugged in, the onboard FM radio function is deactivated.
Try the radio with something plugged into the headphone jack. For video playback, see what happens if you encode a video with baseline profile and any sort of "fastdecode" preset.
I have a problem with the sd card. i have the .nes files without folders. the files doesn´t appear in the game section. only are visible in the administration section of the console. the sd was FAT32 before I copy the files. do you know what can be the problem?
Sorry I don't but it could be that the games need to be in a specific folder. Connect the main unit to a PC and see how the files are laid out then copy that same layout to the SD card.
Engayzando yes, you can. You will need to connect the console to a PC via the USB cable then go in to the directory where the ROMs are stored. I guess you could add new games too.
Looks very nice, maybe not for watch movies obviously but if you take a trip, it's a good alternative to sleep or read a book. The other GBA clones were pretty decent too, but i like the design quality, the plastic seems to be very strong in this one. I wonder if I can find these machines in the chinese stores at downtown in my city. Great video thanks a lot!
Wait what? You did one of these? It was the pmp vi I was talking about in a more recent video when I mentioned a gameboy like thing with an analog stick. Go figure... Oh and spoiler alert, more or less more of the same. Even down to the radio not working
Yes, I buy everything you see on this channel. I do sell the stuff after making the videos too but not on Ebay. I sell on Yahoo Auctions Japan. We don't really have Ebay in Japan.
Great videos, I had to order one for GBA alone. Do you know if you can have separate folders inside of the GAME folder? I'd hate to just jumble them all up :) Also I'm wondering if Mega Drive/SNES games can be aspect-ratio corrected? Thanks.
I don't really see your problem with the lack of micro USB, the mini USB is perfectly fine and the cables are actually very very common... I mean, expecially for me that I have tons of PS3 controllers in my house... I was quite annoyed at first when i noticed that the DS4 used a different kind of USB for charging. lol
Apart from my PS3 dual shock controller everything else I own is Micro USB. Mini USB wasn't widely used in Japan. I think the PS2 controllers are the only think I've ever seen it on.
My previous phone and my old MP3 player (both were VERY cheap actually) used mini USB just like the PS3 controller, so I got used to them.... when I bought a used PS4, I had to charge the controller and I didn't have any micro USB cable at home, and I was like "what even is this port?" and I was very annoyed since I really needed a cable to play with my new console and technology stores aren't exactly close to my house so it took a while to get one of those... I suppose this "traumatic" experience is the reason I don't see nothing wrong with mini USB, but yeah, as far as I know, micro USB is better than mini USB (I actually read it yesterday on the net, I wasn't aware of this) and seems to be way more common nowadays (even if, apart of my PS4 controller, I haven't really seen any ports in my other devices, but I have a quite old cellphone so yeah, it's likely because of that), so I understand the point you made in the video now. Good review anyway, I'm actually considering the idea of buying one of those, since they're very cheap and I may enjoy it when I have to travel for 2 o 3 hours in a train, so thank you for this video.
I guess the mini USB was only being used on cheaper Chinese devices and for some crazy reason, the PS3 controllers too. I've never actually seen a phone with a mini USB port or camera come to think of it. I guess it wasn't around that long to make an impact on many Japanese devices or it could be possible they just skipped straight to Micro USB.
Taking the GUI and functionality, this uses a copy of the Dingoo firmware around which they then simply built some new cheap hardware around. So a Chinese clone of a (competent) Chinese system. Would be interesting to compare the hardware specs of this thing, with those of the original (5+ year old) Dingoo.
Retro Core The Dingoo's hardware (at least the A320) is rather weak and leaves a lot to be desired, but otherwise it's an extremely versatile system (no matter if original firmware or flashed to Dingux), although it's imho far inferior to the Caanoo. Well and it's tiny (Gameboy micro tiny). So if you come across a used one, it's worth a few bucks if the missus is not looking. I'm not sure, but if they really used the Dingoo firmware without major modifications in that thing, then software for the original Dingoo, might work on your PMP V when put onto the µSD (but that's just a wild guess of course).
Retro Core This might be of help: dl.openhandhelds.org/dingoo.htm That's the Dingoo section at OpenHandhelds.org (it's operated by the guys who produce the pandora and the pyra)
According to the original add the crappy projector was meant to be a laser pointer. I guess a few kids blinded themselves which caused them to change it to a crappy projector.
None. They're all bloody awful to tell the truth. The oy one worth while isn't emulation but uses real clone hardware with pretty much perfect results. I can't remember the name of it but I did make a video of it. The machine is for the Russia market and shaped like a GBA SP. You'll be able to find the video in my hardware playlist.
Looks amazing, well done maked, and a little weird(Top of the Pops??)...like always XD. A bit small for my opinion (don´t like very much portables) but a very good rooster of games inside (despite the 3D games that can be emulated). One thing very important it doesn´t have...the A/V exit to put it on TV screen, like the Megadrive portables of ATGames...that´s a pity :( Price in $ or € aproximately???
That projection thing is just blow my mind away. Just lol. Personally I prefer to play my old games on my phone. There is really good gamepads out there that attaching to the phone and almost all system emulators supporting those gamepads. So the phone become the ultimate all-in-one console. Even able to play local co-op/mp depending the game you have.
sometimes you have to have headphones hooked up to make the radio part of these things work as it functions as the antennae and completes the circuit. IF That doesn't work then its broke lol
It has a low screen resolution that make it not really suitable for home console games. But for GBA or GB games, it seems great. What about D pad? That's make me hesitating, cause at 19 euro on aliexpress, it could be a great deal.
I bought one just to see it for myself. What a shame...almost an acceptable product. Typical Chinese gaming stuff...why do they bother to get this close to a good product! I wish they would charge $15 more and just FINISH the product correctly. This is the exact product I want to have someday, but not like this. The D-Pad is by far the worst thing in the world. The gamepad buttons are OK, but without an acceptable D-pad, there is no point. The screen is decent in quality, but it would need to be an inch bigger to BEGIN to be at all useful. I can muddle through a limited number of games with that screen, but there is no enjoyment at all. Also it's sad that there's no SMS support. 3D GBA games crash the system...and even road rash for Genesis crashes it. Puzzle games and 2D work fine.
Andrew Vrba ah, not always. True, 90% of the time Chinese clones are rubbish but I did cover a few very good ones such as the Micro drive, which was a pretty much perfect Mega Drive hand held. Even the audio was correct. Then there was the Game Box. A GBA SP which is better than the original in some areas. But yes, most of the time they are crap :p
They are basically the same thing, they have the same hardware. They are both based on the JZ4725B and they both share the same amount of ram. The processor should even have the same clock frequency on both devices, but i am not 100% sure.
"The buttons are actually pretty good" Well, as long as you dont try to play SNES games...since its missing shoulder buttons, or have i just not seen them ?
Have you tried using the radio with headphones? Some devices use the headphones as an antenna.
Yes, I did try that but still no luck :(
I'm surprised. I would think it was the headphones too, as often FM tuners of that sort require that for the antenna.
Christopher Sobieniak
yeah, sadly nothing.
I figured it out. There's an option below the region setting in the radio menu.
It's unmarked, but when you select it, it unmutes the radio
Wow, now that's really surprising. I've seen this handheld many times on AliExpress (and other similar "stores"), but due to very low price and very small size I've never thought, that there can be something good/decent in it. I only wish that there could be bigger variety of cloned systems (usually its Famicom, Mega Drive and/or GBA) not to mention about slot for original carts.
For the price it's not bad but I wouldn't pay too much for it.
I have a pmp v and the radio works very well
When aliens attack, they’ll be armed with Doraemon Lasers.
The cloning Chinese market is so saturated twith below par products are astounding Mark. I can't believe that many are willing to spend their good hard earn money on units that could.

Can you provide links to where you buy from... Pleeease
This item is no longer available.
i think the reason the built in radio didn't worm for you was that it needs headphones plugged in. All of these built in radio functions do (even in smartphones) because the headphones work as the antenna and if there's nothing plugged in, the onboard FM radio function is deactivated.
I love this thing. I've had it over a year now, and I have had no problems with it. Not bad for $5 plus s&h.
Try the radio with something plugged into the headphone jack. For video playback, see what happens if you encode a video with baseline profile and any sort of "fastdecode" preset.
does the radio work when headphones are plugged in? typically most mobile devices now use them as an antenna.
Nope. Tried that.
+Retro Core did you try dropping it on the ground and kicking it a few times ?
Shady Character I did drop it by accident from about 1.3meters up. No damage at all.
We need more devices equipped with Doraemon projector!
Apple, are you listening?
Hi i'd like to make another question: do you know if it is possible to delete some games that comes on the console?
Engayzando yes, you can. You will need to connect the console to a PC via the USB cable then go in to the directory where the ROMs are stored. I guess you could add new games too.
Looks very nice, maybe not for watch movies obviously but if you take a trip, it's a good alternative to sleep or read a book. I wonder if I can find these machines in the chinese stores at downtown in my city. Great video thanks a lot!
Leonardo Antonio for sure the build quality is good. Many of these Chinese clones are very flimsy but this one is built like a brick.
Retro Core Looks like can take some falls to a hard ground
Do you think you will ever come back and visit the UK Mark?
Ashley Clifford sure, I'm going back with my son and wife on the 22nd December this year. I return to the UK for two weeks every other year.
Lol, it looks like a digital breathalyzer. And what an odd thing to have a random dongle that projects an image of Doremon >_>
Random indeed. I wonder how good the laser version is.
My first thought was, "Gee, who pimped out their mom's glucometer?"
Wait what? You did one of these? It was the pmp vi I was talking about in a more recent video when I mentioned a gameboy like thing with an analog stick. Go figure...
Oh and spoiler alert, more or less more of the same. Even down to the radio not working
There many of these PSP looking devices. Some are total crap while some can be reasonably well made.
my question is: roms on the sd card will work on it?
Engayzando yes, they do. You need to put them in to the correct folders as described in the manual for the console.
Do you really buy al this stuff? And do you sell them after on EBay? Nice video,Gio🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
Yes, I buy everything you see on this channel. I do sell the stuff after making the videos too but not on Ebay. I sell on Yahoo Auctions Japan. We don't really have Ebay in Japan.
Hi man I've got one question is there a way to put the games inside the build memory?
Yes, just connect it up to a PC the add the games to the correct directory.
i need help! i download roms to my pmp v but they dont show up
You have to put them in to a folder called GAME.
Great videos, I had to order one for GBA alone. Do you know if you can have separate folders inside of the GAME folder? I'd hate to just jumble them all up :) Also I'm wondering if Mega Drive/SNES games can be aspect-ratio corrected? Thanks.
Use the file manager!
i know it is kinda obvious , but it saves properly?
The few that I tried did work so I guess it should be fine.
aren't you missing 2 buttons to play snes/sfc games???
I don't really see your problem with the lack of micro USB, the mini USB is perfectly fine and the cables are actually very very common... Hey, is Spriggan Powered any good?
nope. It's a very avarage shooter.
Thanks for the info! I think I'll just get the first Spriggan game for the PC Engine!
What the heck.... Why even include that projector??
According to the original add the crappy projector was meant to be a laser pointer. I guess a few kids blinded themselves which caused them to change it to a crappy projector.
Hey, what's the best handheld emulaltion device for playing Gameboy and GBC games?
None. They're all bloody awful to tell the truth. The oy one worth while isn't emulation but uses real clone hardware with pretty much perfect results. Retro Core I saw that vid, but will check it out, again. I am okay with clone consoles... I just want a way to add some homebrew ROM's.
Jonathan Holmes revo k101. Only gba clone you need really.
No, really, it is
really like the new subtle editing
Thanks! I try to say on wasted time.
no shoulder buttons?
Nope. So no top time when playing F-Zero.
Radio may work if you use headphones, the phones act as an aerial
Nope, tried that. No go I'm afarid.
btw how much there is of this build memory ? 1gb?
Hmm, I dont remember. I think it was 4gb.
ok thank you very much :)
Me: *switches on projector light*
Doraemon: DUN DA DA NA NA NAA SEENGAAAA

Price in $ or € aproximately???
Hmm, in Euros it's about 18 Euros. Well worth that price.
Where can i buy this?
See the end of the video.
Try to plug headphones for the radio to work.
I did but still nothing I'm afraid.
That projection thing is just blow my mind away. Just lol. Personally I prefer to play my old games on my phone. AutherCinemaScope so true. Attach a good pad to your phone and you really do have an all in one solution with a great screen too.
Quality seems pretty good for a Chinese emu portable. Does it come with the pet shop boys documentary? Lol
shwink mine came with video of psy gentleman
Hehe, no. I put that on there as a test since it was a Wave file.
sometimes you have to have headphones hooked up to make the radio part of these things work as it functions as the antennae and completes the circuit. IF That doesn't work then its broke lol
Sadly I did try that but no luck. It's broken for sure.
Maybe you need the earphones to make radio working?
sadly not. A few people have mentioned that but it doesn't make a difference.
It has the same software as a retro mini ???? Wtffff
Now you can put Doraemon in your pocket and see how he likes it!
Doraemon is the last thing I'd want in my pocket, lol.
It has a low screen resolution that make it not really suitable for home console games. But for GBA or GB games, it seems great. What about D pad? That's make me hesitating, cause at 19 euro on aliexpress, it could be a great deal.

Yes, sadly this is just another cheap crappy product that's made to take advantage of those who can't afford one of the big name systems.
it probably uses headphones as an Arial try listening to the radio through headphones.
Nope, tried that and it still didn't work :(
Of all the systems you've reviewed. this is the one I would give to a child. But then again I'd probably just give them a DS Lite.
I think they'd appreciate a DS lite more.
Man, that crackling sound during 007 gameplay... It's like James is tap dancing, while punching and shooting enemies down!
Hehe, it does in a way :)
"Chinese clone" was the spoiler that told me, "No. No it isn't any good."

1800 RMB? That's a lot of Money in China.
True but these are prices for the western market which is more wealthy.
speedy gonzalez shooter? XD
it's a retromini
ahh, the totally perfect tool for pirating!
My Samsung Galaxy J7 Android smartphone can emulate Starfox at full speed.
So can my Xperia ZL2 which is about 3 years old. Basically this system is junk.
Retro Core my old samsung galaxy y used to. The controls were horrible, but it used to
I use my PS3 controller as a Bluetooth gamepad and it works great. I did have to spend $3 on the Sixaxis Controller app to get it working, though.
Screen looks so tiny, I think PMP2s and PAP-K3 looks better to play GBA and SNES games.
Yeah, the screen on this could be bigger but on the plus side at least things look sharper due to the smaller size.
like dingoo
In a way but not as powerful I guess.
I guese this is just a retromini in a wierd form. Glad they redesign it to look like a gbpocket
This is much older than the Retro Mini.
They are basically the same thing, they have the same hardware. They are both based on the JZ4725B and they both share the same amount of ram. The processor should even have the same clock frequency on both devices, but i am not 100% sure.
i had one did a nice job playing GBA battery life sucked I only got like an hr I sold it like a week after I got it
MrJ0mmy that's too bad :( maybe you had a duff battery..?
why despicable me 2?
The Chinese put any old crap on to these clone systems as long as it's popular.
"The buttons are actually pretty good"
Well, as long as you dont try to play SNES games...since its missing shoulder buttons, or have i just not seen them ?
No shoulder buttons but you can work around that issues with most games that aren't Fighters.
Cool!
this is $65 on aliexpress omg, even the pxp3 is better for $15
It never used to be that price. Check around the sellers. You should be able to get it for under 25 usd easily.
such stupid ripoffs
