The 16 BIGGEST SHOOT incidents in wrestling history

- Today we will cover some of the most controversial shoot incidents in pro wrestling, ranging from the Montreal Screwjob all the way to JBLs altercations with the ECW.
I still remember watching the whole Jake the snake and Macho Man snake bite incident on tv when it happened. I was thinking to myself "What am I watching here"
You and me both. Making this video was like a therapy session :)
Same here - I watched it on German television and they kept on saying that the snake was devenomized and also had onscreen text saying that. It was superwerid to see Machoman act like he was being poisoned while everybody was telling me that there was no poison.
@@achimsinn6189 Deutsche sind immer wilkommen :) Gute alte Zeit.

Me too !
That Yoko Banzai Drop still makes me whince every time I see it. How the f did the guy survive that?
He probably didn’t :)
I was wondering the same thing! That’s attempted murder with that move.
New Jack’s attempted murders seem like a bit of a shoot 🤔
That is a big one. Not sure if UA-cam would have liked that :)
Great video, lots and lots of details and background info, very informative. Even us, the hardcore fans, can profit off of it and discover new tidbits that we previously didn't know of.
Happens to me every time when I make the videos. I have an idea, start gathering information and going down a rabbit hole of things I didn’t knew
I'm amazed that jobber's chest cavity didn't get caved in by that Banzai Drop.
God that bonzai drop. Imagine that man falling on you like that
Fun fact, that Banzai drop was the inspiration for me making the video.
@howstrongis it was soo brutal lol.
That was brutal, how that man's ribs didn't shatter into dust I don't know
How could you as a jobber be disrespectful to Mr. Fuji of All people is beyond me
That could probably kill a normal person. He was what 5 or 600 pounds
Wow. Fantastic video. Brought back some memories for me. Thanks!
Appreciate your feedback. Usually I try to pick topics which are interesting to myself.
Picture a 6-man tag team no one would dare go against:
Andre, Harley Race and Haku.
A team from hell. They could go easily against Bruiser Brody and Hansen or Gordy and Dr Death
Hell no 😂
Lol love the way this is worded! Those 3 were practically an army 😆 🤣 😂
The worst shoot of all time was Andre vs Iron Sheik!
Andre beat the flying SHIT out of Iron Sheik for a solid 15 minutes! Hip tossed, body slammed, stood on him and slapped him so hard it was like a gun going off!
Hogan thought the Sheik might die!
Jesus...
Great short. Good mentioning Ricky Dozan (apparently it was a blade that was urinated on that ended his life)
I heard the same story. Fun side story, my boss here in Japan, for whom I worked over a year, turned out to be Rikidozan's granddaughter. She works currenlty for NOAH
Act Yasukawa vs Yoshiko is probably the worst and its crazy to me that Yoshiko is still in the business and wasn't blacklisted for what she did. Also its partly on the company and the ref for not stopping it sooner
Had couple of Seadlinnng (former Stardom Wretslers) as clients here, acording to them lot of stuff went down back then. And while Yoshiko was definitely the main driver, as you mentioned, so many others backstage should be blamed too.
Ross Ogawa, the Stardom boss ordered the Yoshiko shoot to continue and overruled referee Kyohei Wada. Yoshiko may have gone into business for herself to settle a beef, or she did as told. She was fired, but six months later had a job.
This was great! Thanks!
Glad you liked it. Always appreciat eyour feedback.
You failed to mention Lugar vs. Brody in Florida where Bruiser just stops selling and stands still
I did....whic is funny because i still had the Material of the match from the Bruiser Brody Training video i did a while back. But great addition for sure
Luger was terrified lol. Rightfully so
The Daniel Puder incident should serve as a cautionary tale of what happens when you let hazing go unchecked. From college fraternities to wrestling, when someone feels cornered and feels like the little dog in the fight, drastic times call for drastic measures.
Well said
The Puder incident is on Kurt. He issued an open challenge. As an Olympic freestyle wrestler, he should have had the grace and sportsmanship to accepted the loss like a man. I already knew Holly was a stain, but I lost a lot of respect for Eddie and Chris over the BS they pulled afterwards. Especially considering how Eddie was humbled by Kurt previously, for trying to fight him in the locker room.
Decent video. I'd recommend tossing in one New Jack encounter.
That totally slipped my mind. I knew i forgot something.
Yeah mass transit one
The brawl for all was such a stupid idea. They had some midcarders with little boxing experience box againsst each other on live TV making most of them look stupid to begin with and what got the winner of that out of it? He got being put in a match against an actual pro which he obviously would lose killing any momentung he might have gotten from the whole ordeal.
Fully agree. Think Antonio Inoki almost led with a similar approach to the downfall of NJPW.
Another gem by Russo.
Lex Luger vs Bruiser Brody
Great choice, had the same idea way too late, so i tried to include it in the intro/outro
HOW DID THAT JOBBER NOT DIE AFTER YOKO PUT ALL HIS WEIGHT ON THAT BONZI DROP
WOW
The jobber had yet to be found in one piece…
If I was a non-wrestler doing a promotional match with a wrestler, you can bet your ass I would make damn sure that i had an understanding beforehand with the wrestler of what we were supposed to do- ESPECIALLY if they were unhappy to be doing it. I sure as hell don't want the wrestle-man angry at ME.
Think thats the reason why many promoters were former wrestlers themselves like Bill Watts or Von Erich.
Love that edit
Appreciate it
So the thing with Randy not trusting anyone in this case was more so not trusting Jake Roberts to go through fully and make sure tbe cobra was either milked fully or had its venom sacks removed, because Jake at this point wasn't the most reliable person do to his heavy substance abuse. However yes Randy made Jake let the snake bit him, draw blood, the wait in Jake's presence to see if there were any ill effects. Once convinced all was well Randy said ok good to go, only Jake wasn't, once in the ring Jack decided to paint brush the cobra to get it mad which it did as the cobra bit Randy's arm and was so mad wouldn't let go until Jake pulled it free.
Yeah I saw that snake incident live as a kid and was traumatized lol.
The Stevie Richards Chairshot from Smackdown! 2005 was "The Chair Shot Heard Round World Wrestling Entertainment". Receipt!
That sir...is the best comment under this video.
Bart Gunn got knocked out in like one punch lol.
Butterbean knockouts are extra hard to watch. Think Johnny Knoxville thought its a good idea to put it to a test years later.
He was knocked down twice
Shamrock swears there wasn't a problem in the Vader match. lol.
Think if there was any problem they solved it right on the spot
I kind of believe that is exactly what he believes. Dude is crazy enough to think they were just playing roughly in those matches
Maybe the two roughouses reached an understanding during the match and that's normal enough for them. If there was no more really stiff stuff after that, then it could have been a lesson learned by the guy with less pro wrestling under his belt.
@@achimsinn6189considering his backstory, the old man that adopted him and Frank, and his relationship with Frank, I can almost assure you Ken thought it was a play fight.
>Olympic wrestler turned pro wrestler challenges MMA wrestler
>"WTF why did he do a chimera on me?"
Genius, Kurt. Genius.
Learn what it's called. It's a Kimura. Learn the history behind it and who it is named after.
Koji Kitao. That is a name I had forgotten. Then I remembered - he fought in the UFC. One fight against 190 pound Mark Hall. Hall punched Kitao one time and Kitao's nose and mouth just exploded. Kitao turned his back and ran, waving the fight off. Hall had broke his nose and jaw with one shot. I don't know where Kitao got off mouthing off to anyone because he couldn't beat a 190 lb UFC tomato can.
I'm imagining Will Sasso narrating this
Will Sasso in his Jessy Ventura impression. Only thing will be the money to hire him :)
Only it's missing lemons
Dude, yes.
As Jesse Ventura
@rayromero9172 lol if you know ya know 😭
Good stuff!
Appreciate it. Still a beginner making this stuff
Scott Taylor once said countering the ankle lock was easy, if you knew basic wrestling training...
*Kurt Angle, hold my milk....*
Fun side story, i thought the same thing. Have hypermobile ankles, never caused me any issues during submissions in MMA. Then...one day....attended a seminar with Josh Barnett......everything changed and he turned an ankle hold into a knee bar
i used to think it was called the angle lock, ya know for kurt angle. definetly thought it was a stupid name cause i hated kurt for hurting rey mysterio.
@@howstrongisI got trapped in a knee bar about 20 years ago, and thought I could fight out instead of tapping. I still have problems with that knee. Knee bars suck. A knee bar from Josh? No thanks. Just punch me.
A company I used to work for bought Rick Rudes house after he died
That is a great piece of information. Actually was just about to post another Rick Rude video this week.
Basically Pro Wrestling reminds me of my time in High School football, nothing but ego back stabbing assholes who only pulled mean shit when they could and never face to face
You are not that wrong
I love the WrestleMe (1:34) shoutout! They need more followers bc those guys are hilarious and criminally underrated.
Yeah, credits where credits are due. Love all their old school reviews. They inspired me actually to make the Rick Rude episode and hence starting the channel
I'd include Bruno Sammartino. Not only was he WWWF champ from '63-'71 but when he won the title from Buddy Rogers there was a true shoot moment. Rogers didn't want to drop the belt (that he'd been awarded) to Bruno so Vince Sr. had to basically con the Nature Boy into believing he'd get the win over Bruno. Also, Rogers had a bad back at the time. Soon as the bell rang, Bruno threw Buddy up over his shoulders into a rack and told Rogers he'd break his back if he didn't submit. That's shoot.
I didnt know the story about Bruno and Buddy Rogers. Sammartino was a force in the ring. Thank you for sharing Bill.
@@howstrongis - My pleasure. Bruno also ceased the life functions (did I word that okay, Uncle YT?) of another wrestler inside the ring during a match sometime in the late 60s or early 70s. It wasn't intentional. If I recall correctly, Bruno just did a plain old hard body slam and the guy's heart stopped and couldn't be brought back.
Thats actually what i love about the comment section here, stories like this, so many things for me to learn. Especially since i am not super familiar with that era of wrestling and many things were not televised yet. Appreciate your input.
That's wrong information.
Rogers had a heart condition that prevented him from having the long title reign that was envisioned for him. He had a heart attack shortly after winning the title and couldn't perform where he normally could.
They made the decision to get the belt off him and onto Bruno, which was always the plan. It just came a lot sooner and worked out significantly better.
That's BS. Not even close.
Dirtbike Kid vs Great Sasuke, Great Antonio VS. Inoki,... Oh and of course fucking Akira Maeda trying to murder Choshu with his kick.
Akira Maeda would have been a great addition. Great Antonio VS. Inoki i tried to include in the intro. I wasnt aware or the Great Sasuke one, let me check it out. Thanks for the input.
@@howstrongis 1999 Michinoku Pro Mask Tournament. Kid got beaten bad by Sasuke... Trying to do shit when you are against the guy that is running the company is such a great idea.
Yeah, that never works out great, doesnt it. Thanks for letting me know the exact tournament, will check it out tonight.
Could have included Andre, lol...too bad that most of his stuff wasn't on film. He tore out a bunch of Jake's hair, punched Warrior in the face, and I read that he soccer kicked Rick Rude in the head. If Andre didn't like you, he made you suffer
I think Andre the Giant vs. The Ultimate Warrior or Rick Rude vs. The Ultimate Warrior would have fit in there perfectly. Sometimes, certain things were not caught on camera or the copyright police would come after me.
Sounds like BS
Minor correction with the Brawl for All. Blackman didn't get injured, he dropped out after he realized how dumb it was.
Appreciate the input. Just checked again, I think Severn was the one who dropped out and Blackman won but had to drop out because of an injury, but it didn’t say unfortunately what kind injury.
Severn dropped out when he knew there was no true endgame and he would have steamrolled.
Blackman won, but ended up with a kidney/liver injury, if I remember correctly. It kept him out for a few months after.
Who did Brock throw into the post in the very beginning, Kendrick?
Thats correct. Its one of the most beautiful squash matches, Kendrick selling everything like rent is due. Just search for Brock Lesnar vs Spanky 2003
@@howstrongis thank you bro
JBL should've been governor of Texas by now
If Kane managed it JBL should too
Jake was told by Savage his breath smelled like rancid meat
That imahe in my head (or rather my nose)....
Randy and Jake planned that out. Randy ever got Jake to get the Cobra to bite him on the leg back stage just to make sure. Some thigs do go wrong. Piper whacking Sheik full on in the back with a crutch leaving out line on his back and there was no paint or anything on the crutch either. This stuff is not as fake as it's made out to be when they get hit they get hit you can hear it. Why are they so red after a match and bruised up it's not given the credit it rightly deserves. Yes it's part theatre but that only goes so far.
Yeah, I remember the backstage part with the snake in the Randy documentary. 80s and 90s were wild times.
I am training wrestlers here for a living, so I agree, the dangers are absolutely real, as is most of the pain.
JBL dishing out violence?
Were these wrestlers not aware he wasn’t capable of putting two punches together in a real fight?
Its impressive that the whole Brawl for All was made basically to beat JBL
Arm wrestling.. wrestling wrestling... Brauns a big guy, but why is it everytine hes got the bright lights on him or hes really got the cameras attention, he starts trying to put on that bully bullshit persona and then gets beat in whatever it is.
Weve seen him humbled too many times for him to keep going around trying to act like the hardest guy in the city.
Just hunble yourself man. You're not immortal.
Earthquake was such a pro.
Yeah, seems like a pretty nice guy too. Takes a lot to make him angry
His episode of Dark Side of the Ring was so sad, just a nice guy with a great family.
Yeah, there wasn’t a single con-worker who had something bad to say about Earthquake (except Kitao of course)
I would have loved to see Earthquake to MMA in his prime. He would have been perfect for early ufc
Earthquake should be in the hall of fame. He is one of the biggest stand outs from my childhood memories of watching wrestling.
The Montreal Screwjob: The most imfamous & known shoot in wrestling history.
Vader was stiff as shit and also a giant asshole. Shamrock stiffing him like that was pretty damn great.
8:39 in a real fight... Tenta would have beat the fuck outta him...
Good to see someone has to take for the other side of that incident I guess 😕
Fully agree, Tenta seemed to be pretty relaxed and chilled to whole time....but better dont poke the bear. He and Fred Ottman were feared for their power by many.
@@howstrongis Tenta was a Canadian Amature Wrestler.... And a Provincial Champ if I'm not mistaken... And to move to Japan and achieve the Sumo Success he had is amazing, for the lack of body fat, compared to his competitors
When you knock out Dr. Death Steve Williams; you're pretty bad *ss!
Armchair speculation here but i bet yoko almost killed that guy which is uhh surreal
I should have included some RIP graphic in retrospect :)
Thankfully norman smiley was not in this video. That guy is too cool to rough up.
That you mentioning Norman Smiley brightens up my heart. One of the real toughest guys out there, loved his matches in Japan.
@@howstrongis im a wiggle guy but i did not know he has japan stuff. Thanks for telling me.
If you look up
Norman Smiley vs Kazuo Yamazaki (UWF Newborn 6-11-88) you will be pleasantly suprised.
Vader popped his eye back in. …damnitboy
Besides Foley losing his ear, one of the grossest things in Pro Wrestling
Inoki and a fat tub of goo called The Great Antonio
That the one i was missing. And Andre vs Akira Maeda
Nia Jaxx is just incompetent
Daniel Puder got done so dirty.
Angle issues an open challenge and someone took it. Some of these wrestlers are such babies it’s crazy
Also, how are you going to believe anything Bradshaw says. Dude is a notorious liar and douche.
Yoko killed him. Jesus.
Worst ever, death of Owen heart
Stevie Richards is the man.
He also has one of the most insightful wrestling YT channels.
www.youtube.com/@StevieRichardsShow
Imagine what would happen to cody if he stepped in the ring with any of these dudes. Our champ is SAWFT
Think the older generation also looked a lot older with their harder lifestyle. Just see Tenta and Rude, both always looked 10 years older
Roman is not any better 😂😂😂 dude can’t even win a legitimate match without outside interference. Cody wrestled an entire match with a torn pectoral muscle. I wouldn’t call that soft you just sound like a hater.
Pretty sure I just watched Yokozuna kill a guy wtf 😆
The jobber has yet to be identified alive…
Chris Benoit was framed
Hot take right there
wow!
Im near 200 oercenr confident i can clean beaun strowmans clock instantly. Ive never seen a weaker big man in my life. Everytime i see him on social media hes losing some sort of competition to a guy smaller than me. I jnow neither him nor brock can fight. Just watch brocks ufc staged circus.
I only remember him challenging the arm wrestler…
911 vs Taz
I remember Taz and 911 beating up some jobbers, didnt know they went against each other. Let me see if i can find the match.
@@howstrongis It wasn't a match. 911 attacked Taz post match. After getting chokeslamed, Taz jumped up and hit a very hard t-bone Tazplex. 911 got up very slowly and needed to be helped to the back. He went to WCW shortly after this incident.
Just found it, thanks again. You are right, that would have been a great addition
12:29
This is full of lies
What part?
Mi
Maybe you should give some info in your own video rather than tell people where they can find better video's 😂
Let me check again. The video has information on 16 cases. It has received 150,000 views and some good money. I think I'm doing well "Ghostfakekiller".
Boring video, have to show more footage of the match and what announcers said.
Think the wwe would send their lawyers after me in no time ;)
This voiceover is bad
Appreciate your critic. Used to do it myself in older clips like Rick Rudes transformation or the bench top 10. But as a non native speaker I am not sure if that’s any better
So this just states that all wrestlers are giant babies and can’t handle words
Or snake bites in some cases
Do you wrestle with words? This ain't a debate or an oratory contest
The snake was was a work not a shoot so it shouldn't be listed here
From what i heard from the participants, it was planned to a certain degree but the Snake overdid it a little. Think they covered it recently in a documentary. So probably something in between of a shoot and work.
@@howstrongis Nope went as planned. According to Jake Randy made him have the snake bite him first
Perry Saturn damn near snapped ole boys neck, but to be fair, the jobber was reckless and could have hurt Saturn first.
Saturn was a beast. Just doing some research about him for another clip and the exact same moment
