      Oh no no no. Get yourself a Honda Africa twin as long as you stay on the asphalt it'll handle pretty good.. I had mine off-road one time and broke my foot and I was done ready to trade again.... On a gravel road it never stops seeking and gets scary

    I almost bought the 1290 SAR because of you, but ended up getting a T7 because I know the engine already and thought it would be a much better choice for doing singletrack and more knarly terrain. After having the suspension resprung and revalved, and some added accessories it's so good. 👌 cheers, glad your back in the adventure game.

    Got one coming. Had the 890 ADV-R, but being a KTM, it had engine problems. Too much compression damping in the fork too, even loosened up, causing pretty significant front tire deflections on sharp edges. Looking forward to the T7. Only have about 500 miles on mine but most dirt loving it so far. Especially got my knobbies now. It is very predictable, despite the weight it surprised me shooting up a short but steep hill with a 90 degree turn at top. It flew up so quickly with stock tires that I almost dumped it at top. They're very hard to source here in the USA. I'm on several lists though. My problem though is that I'm 5'7" tall (short?) with a 30" inseam, and when I sat on one at a dealer, the balls of my feet could barely touch the ground. At first I said forget it. But now I'm thinking with the .8" lower seat, and 1.5" elevator pads in my boots, I might be able to make it work.
    I know that you can put longer dogbones in it to lower the bike further, but as the majority of my ADV riding is in Latin America where the speed bumps are 2 miles high, and the potholes are 2 miles deep, more than anything I need max ground clearance.
    Why the ADV manufacturers don't offer lower bikes with adjustable seats I'll never figure out. Make a bike with a seat adjustable between let's say between....32" and 35". We put men on the moon in 1969. Don't tell me Yamaha you can't figure this out.

    As far as I can tell T7 only has one problem, getting your hands on one!
    Had a deposit down in August 2021. Was talking to the dealer when the World Raid got announced a couple of weeks ago, I would still have been waiting now. Buying a WR instead had nothing to do with this.
    Not bagging the bike or Yamaha, just highlights how good it is by the demand globally to get one.

    Mate, you are great at what you do. I know this bike sits in the same category as the 890, but can it be compared to a 690/701? I only ask because I haven't seen anyone like you give the new 690 a proper review.

    • @nyedavis922
      @nyedavis922 2 роки тому

      I'd say not realistically. The 690 is 60kg lighter, better suspension and feels physically smaller to ride. On the slab the tenere will be much comfier, but off road there no competition really. I don't think they're a fair comparison

    • @user-pe6lh3sx5f
      @user-pe6lh3sx5f 2 роки тому

      The 690 is a monster off-road, in a good way! It’s also quite comfortable on road. Maybe not at high speeds for long periods of time. But will handle any speed limit just fine. If you want a real adventure bike that will take you off road. The 690/701 is hard to beat. I’ve owned many and ridden lots! T7 is to be compared to other bikes in the 400 plus lb category. Great bike thoughI’m sure… just not really comparable to the 690/701.

And then i got on the internet…. Well, safe to say that the GS is for sale. Ridden only 12km in my ownership and a new T7 is due for collection. 2:30 Mistakes were made.
    Anyway I love the CP2 engine but the T700 is somehow 18kg heavier than the MT-07 (both without fuel), not something I'd want to pick up on a trail. I wish they'd stick the engine in a supermoto frame. Also as you mention the sump and oil filter sit very low on the CP2 and would be very easy to crack.

    • @silverdale3207
      @silverdale3207 Рік тому

      I guess it's heavier for a reason, That reason being strength, after all would you load your MT-07 with 30 kg of gear and go bashing down a rough 4wd track, a light frame would crack in no time.

    • @6Twisted
      @6Twisted Рік тому

      @@silverdale3207 The WR450F weights 112kg without fuel, puts out 49hp and people use them for touring so I don't think it's because of strength.

    • @silverdale3207
      @silverdale3207 Рік тому

      @@6Twisted true, but that's a thumper, and a lot of videos show cracked rear sub frames on those Enduro bikes when loaded with gear off-road, I was just referring to your comparison with the MT 07,I think the frame etc would be beefed up on the T7. was thinking similar to the reason a 4wd is heavier than a sports car, different uses.

    ONLY if your a Tarres or a Riemann is this doable. Normal riders will DIE doing those kind of jumps or anything else. It's 450+ pounds. It is not salvageable when it leans past 60 degrees, meaning you will NOT be dabbing. Nothing against the bike, it's fantastic, but don't believe it is a do it all unicorn. Choose the proper tool for the job. You will have huge fun on this bike if your just looking to do normal leisure rides, but don't think your going full on motocross / hard enduro. Miss mine, but glad to have proper tools now rather than 2+1=4.

    Why won't anyone produce the perfect bike in all areas though? 120kg v-twin 2-stroke fuel injection 600cc 100hp with SICK sound to match.
    They always over stuff bikes to make them heavy, then compensate with a heavy engine :) Sure the T7 might be pretty nimble but its nothing compared to a 110-120kg 30-50hp bike in terms of manouverability etc especially if you drop a light bike. Just pick it up super easy :D

    I've done over 20K on my T7 since I got it in March 2020 and love it. I'm no great dirt rider but can get this thing most places. Just sub'd so I see with interest how you modify it.

    I just thing the t7 is sexy AF. I love everything about it except the tiny fuel capacity. I live in the western USA and regularly will hit 300miles between gas stops. I am still rockin a 640 Adventure. That bike somehow still holds its own. It just needs more power.
