I have been crisscrossing Latin America since 1970 yes that makes me old I'm over 70. I remember when there were no maps and no guide books at all, it gave more mystery but a lot more difficulty. Sometimes whole towns would come out to see the white long-haired crazy American. Soon I am going to go back to Columbia and I want to say that I think you have one of the best presentations of Columbia that I've ever seen, thank you for your work.
Nobody comes close to the professional effort you put into your videos. Your micro and macro information pieces are incredible. Thank you for your work. Just got the Colombia Map legend
Hey Christianne Thank you for your great guide and giving the world a real picture of Colombia. I also have some comments: - The best time traveling you mention is the common rule of thumb and nothing is wrong with that. Saying that, we have many different regions with different rain and dry season. Therefore one should check the destinations and then the season. Very important for rainforest and the llanos for example, dry and rain season have their unique up- or downsides. - Salento… I am really not a big fan of what happened there. I would rather suggest to backpackers to discover the region of Caldas, also in the coffee region and much less backpackerish and even more spectacular! - Uber is back - Going to San Gil, you should not have missed Barichara. It is probably the most beautiful historic town of Colombia and just 90 minutes from San Gil and in my opinion even more spectacular than Villa de Leyva. - Tayrona National Park is not private; it is public but also indigenous territory. There are 3 closing month a year now since this year. It is not under new ownership but under new administration. - Pavo Real in Palomino, best choice! - Hahaha breaking down cars… you get what you pay for ;-) Great overall guide with good info, congrats. Hope you come back to Colombia soon, there is more to discover! Best wishes from Bogota frank
I spent a month in beautiful Colombia just before the airports were closed world wide. I absolutely miss this country more then any other place I’ve been to. I miss my Colombian friends. Best month of my life. Great place and amazing people. I want to live there.

You are my new favourite UA-camr! I have been pondering over travelling solo after I leave uni next year but I’m so scared, you have made me 100% certain that I wanna do it! ❤️
I`ve never seen such a detailed and extensive guide - amazing work! You hyped me completely to choose Colombia as my first South American destination this winter!
For me you are the very best backpack-vlogger👏👏👏! I can keep watching your videos for hours and have an almost instantly urge to hop on a plane. The way you share your experiences is truly excellent, including maps, prices and tips on all kind of subjects. Your passion for backpacking is so evident, so natural and so positive, I love it! I am also a solo female traveller (now 61 😄) but next year will be my first solo-step in South-America, to be precise in Colombia for three months. With all your video’s on Colombia, it will be a piece of cake. Thank you 🙏
you're amazing! you're so inspiring and the fact that you wanna help other for free says a lot about you! when lockdown is over (soon hopefully) I'm quitting my job and I'm outta here!!!
Your series about Colombia is absolutely amazing! Colombia is a dream trip to me since I was a child and now, watching your vídeos, I am even more atractted to this country!!
You should own a travel agency to travel through Colombia Exactly all the places you visited... foreigners are so lost they don't know how to get places and end up loosing time and missing out great places. I'm Colombian
Loved the Colombia series! Spend 3,5 weeks there in January 2018 after sailing into Cartagena from Panama (strongly recommended!). A really nice day trip you can do from San Gil is the Camino Real between Barichara and Guane. Just take the bus to Barichara which doesn't take long and explore this picturesque little town (comparable to Villa de Leyva), take lunch and start the beautiful walk to the sleepy town of Guane. From there you can bus back to San Gil.
This video was so detailed! Must've been months of research that you've given to us all fo free. Thank you so much Christianne, you have definitely Colombia on my list ♥
Thank you so much for recommending San augustin and popayan. Popayan takes you into a different time period! So lovely. There’s a place outside of Cali (about an hour and 45 mins) called buga and it’s like a little popayan. I can’t wait to send this video to my mother and plan more regional trips ❤️❤️
I said this on every video but this series has been incredible! I never really considered Colombia because of the safety stigma but now I'm obsessed haha
First of all, great video! very informative and comprehensive. I am Colombian and I learnt from your video MANY things that I didn't know. Second of all, can you make a comment in your next video pointing out that the real name of the country is COLOMBIA and not Columbia. This might be a detail for most people but it is a big deal for Colombians. Thank you!
I found your channel about a week ago when I was just doing a light look into what it would be like to travel solo. I'd never had a heavy interest before, but seeing your videos has me convinced that I have to do it once it's a bit safer to travel. Love your channel and you seem so fun and genuine! Hope you're well!
Loved this series and this video girl ! I really hope the Colombian hostels survive this pandemic cause they look fantastic and I hope I get the chance to stay in them!
Amazing videos. When I went to central america everyone was talking sooo good about colombia so I decided that to be my next trip to. Hi Christianne! I love this series and you've inspired me so much! I'm going to Colombia because of this video and I'd love to check out your itineraries for Colombia but I think I'm a little late to the party. Is there someway else I can access them other than subscribing? I just subscribed and got content on financing travel and it's AMAZING! But I'd love to see those itineraries too :D Thanks so much for your content!
what a great video! another tip - I also land up saving up on unnecessary expenses like atm fees etc in Colombia - using apps like ATM Fee Saver - it helps find atms abroad with no fees or lower fees than others along with withdrawal limits etc. worth adding to your list of tricks!
TIP: If you stay in Viajero in Cali, do the communda 20 tour. It is a new tour, and much better than Communda 13 in Medellin. You are literally escorted by Gang Members through one of the most dangerous neighbourhoods in Cali. Backpacking Bananas I’ve been watching since your New Zealand road trip a few years ago and every video is so interesting! I’m from the US and just this year started traveling (before Corona). Hi Christine, I'm from the beautiful city of Medellin, Colombia 🇨🇴 thanks for loving our beautiful country, I'm so glad people are beginning to feel better about traveling to colombia, we all have to be careful where ever you go, I visited in 2009 for 2 weeks and we stayed 3 nights 4 days at the Decameron Panaca Resort in Quindio, eje cafetero, it is a beautiful place, I highly recommend it, especially if you are traveling with children, they have a petting zoo with many different animals, it was an amazing experience, I also visited Salento, great video, greetings from USA 🇺🇲🙏🇨🇴
I was planning on going to Columbia later this year, but not happening, who knows when now :( but thanks for doing this video, this will be my go to resource :) x
In Jardin, I definitely recommend booking a tour with one of the local companies to see the more remote 7 waterfalls. I went with Horizontes Ecotours and they were amazing. I mainly recommend this for safety reasons, as the rock, clay and surrounding areas can get very slippery and are quite remote. To fill up on your carbs I loved Bon Apetit for italian food. Enjoy!

How embarrassing to be that old, that traveled, that worldly.... and still do the faux pas of calling it Columbia instead of Colombia.
