Too old for college? No such thing. I just completed an MS in Data Science at 65. Never stop learning. Those who did are now the ones in trouble.
respect👏
massive respect!
You’re probably too old to get hired anyways and lack any experience ….
Good for you on accomplishing nothing
I've always been an autodidact, and my career has been successful because of this, so I absolutely agree that we should never stop learning.
I don't think it was meant to be about age, as such, more about the fact that in general, the longer one has been in the workforce, the harder it is to change career paths or careers, and maybe going back to studying is not financially viable either, because it might involve giving up a job that was paying a mortgage etc.
Obviously there are exceptions, and the argument can be given that the only thing holding people back, is themselves, but the fact remains that people such as yourself, are the exception, not the rule - and congratulations on your new qualification, i'm certainly not wanting to sound negative or disparaging!
Exactly.. Going for mine soon and I'm 36
You know, I used to be a cruise ship waiter for 5 yrs and working in the hospitality restaurant industry for 7 years. I just started a new bachelor abroad with business information systems. I thought I am late to study it but made me realize i have domain knowledge and a bachelor degree in my previous industry and i can combine them both!!
I have 15 years in HR/Talent Acquisition. Im excited to go back to school. Already having experience in the business and leading global teams I think will be a benefit for me after I finish my schooling.
Love your way of presenting the issue and the thorough analysis you go thru. Keep on the good job!
I love your analogy about learning how to drive even if there are self-driving cars. As always, very insightful video.
I Like the self driving cars analogy. Thank you Thu Vu.
Hi Thu Vu! Glad to listen to your idea. Thank you for sharing. Keep it up! ☕🍹
Fantastic video...and what a great channel! Subbed.
It has always been about domain knowledge and critical thinking. Everything between your question or problem and the answer/insight was and is a friction. And this "in-between" has been technical requirements to take you from A to B, but it is not the goal. So anything that helps to remove or minimize friction is good.
Your comments are always very profound. Thank you!
Hey there, I agree with your assessment ... great video. You are a very good communicator.
the best video I haved wached in months
thank you for the summary
Loveee your videos. Make one with Luke Barousque too.
Pardon if the spelling are incorrect
Really nice video! Thanks 🙏🏼
Thanks for sharing this with your viewers! 😃
Only a question of time until AI assumes a lot of tasks. Data analysis surely can be done completely on autopilot as soon the engine learns how to do it. A lot of Craft can also be done by machines and robots for example welding.
Great info, thanks!
Thank you very much for share you opinion and I agree with you.
Well, I must say that was a very soothing video!! Thank you so much Thu Vu!!🎉
Thank you for watching! 🙌🏽
Chào Thu Vũ
Cảm ơn bạn về sự chia sẻ này
Mình bắt đầu học DA, rất cảm ơn về sự chia sẻ của bạn. Thật ý nghĩa cho những người mới như mình
Tks a lot
This is one of the best videos I've watched on the impact of AI. I'm so glad you brought up that paper by Daron Acemoglu since I'm reading his book "Power and Progress", where he talks about the impact of technology on the workforce, and that it should create new tasks for humans. Progress should be measured by how any new technology enables humans to flourish. I like the nuance in this video, rather than painting either a gloomy picture or an overly optimistic view. Thanks.
Aw thank you for the kind words! Wow, you’re reading his book, it seems really interesting indeed! I’m going to dive into it as well 🤗. Thanks for the recommendation!
Thank you. You've gained a subscriber.
thank you for always doing great content.
So nice of you! Thank you for watching ❤️
That was great. Thank you
12:17 Brilliant!
I think with me being in Supply Chain for 23yrs . Starting as a Warehouse Clerk, Learning Various Styles of Forklifts, and Cranes, Inventory, Picking, Packing, Shipping, to being in charge people as a Team Leader, to Inventory Control, some Purchasing to now Sales of parts. I think Data Analysis is the Latest Frontier for me, and no brainer after all I have been practing for 23yrs on a more manual level. I have taken some excel, sql, python, tableau, and I have been working in Power BI for a year, but had learned how to use it before I had to work with it. I have built a database in college for a non profit for my internship. Its probably the best option for me to move into. What do you guys think?
Go for it
Learning by doing is the way to go 👏
Insightful analysis
Hi! I totally agree that in the future, we will have more work thanks to AI. We will always have more needs that need to be satisfied, and that has been a pattern throughout history. In the past, when almost the entire population was focused on agriculture, the invention of the steam machine only gave us the possibility to think about new problems. We will always have new problems to solve, and that is limitless. Finally, as you said, it is important to be flexible and have the capability to adapt to different circumstances. Thank you very much!
Absolutely agree on this! Thanks for sharing your thoughts 🤗
Hi Thu after long time, yes domain knowledge is must to accomplished critical data analysis. Human and AI together can make great work but alone side AI impossible! Like your bed 😀Happy New Year 🎈🎉
Wonderful content in your video.
Agree with you.
But would add that jobs will be created to cope with "AI Overload".
AI is going to embedded into almost every piece of software and will be offering unsolicited advice.
Management will be overwhelmed by the amount of AI generated suggestions that it will need to hire people they can ask:
"AI says this, what do you think?".
Examples:
1. AI generated this logo, as an artist what do you think?
2. AI suggests we finance our expansion with more debt, as an accountant what do you think?
3. AI suggests we can save money be centralizing our thermostat function and intelligently dispatching heating/cooing requests to different HVAC units, what do you think?
4. Alexa just said it might be time to reorder coffee for the break room, what do you think?
5. AI suggests that we change our advertising and promotion budget, as a marketing specialist what do you think?
I think data analysts will lose their job first when AI come in. Now using chat-gpt to write SQL queries is so convenient
@@superbin6021I agree. Data analysts are the new data entry clerks. Now, they need to adapt and learn back end programming and data engineering. They’ll essentially have to become AI creators.
thật tuyệt vời có một youtuber người gốc Việt làm video cho thế giới xem , cám ơn chị
IMO one of the best videos to give an updated overview on data analytics future and what matters the most, which is to learn the business values
I hope it's still a good option as I am in school now for it! Haha but I am loving analytics so far.
Thanking the author for creating such informative video.
Thank you so much 😅
THANK YOU
data analyst career is facing with that saturation in another countries but people from my country are asking "what is data analyst?"
Hi! I'm finishing my 3-year degree in Statistics and now I find myself in a position where I have to decide in which way to proceed for my future. I'm trying to absorbe more knowledge possible to do the right choice, and to do so I'm asking also to experienced people like you some suggestions. For example, if it make sense to me, doing my degree, to take the certificates given by coursera in Data Analytics. Also, if it's better to me to start working or get specialized in a most specific field with a master. I'll have 100 more questions but for now I stop here. Thanks in advance!
Hi chị ơi , trái ngành rẻ sang DA thì chỉ dành cho ngành Kinh tế - Tài chính thôi phải ko chị, ngành Software Eng thì rẻ ngành sang DA có hợp lý ko ạ ?
Short answeer yes 😊
Thanks for reassuring that AI is not yet ready to replace data analyst or scientist in the foreseeable future. As i had been grunting hard attending courses to switch to a data career. Luckily u didnt say data analysis is gone for good.😅
Haha, I think it’s very hard to predict the market, but the key is to adapt 🤗
@Thuvu5 your channel has provided me with invaluable insights into the realm of data analytics. Thank you!
Moreover, the substantial number of subscribers and views on your content is a testament to the growing interest among individuals eager to delve deeper into the intricacies of data analytics. Considering it as a good indicator. 😶🌫
This is short sighted. IBM created an AI program back in 2013 that did all the job functions of a data analyst. In the not too distant future, there won't be any data science jobs.
With ny disability, I naturally struggle to adapt. So what is my solution to being unemployed.
I am changing careers to data 👍🏻
Can't see your promotion information for Coursera, thanks!
I am doing my dissertation towards MS data science @ 53 . 👍
This is so amazing! Congrats to you and good luck with your dissertation 🚀
Hi Dear,
I've been closely following your recent video tutorials, especially the one titled "UA-cam API for Python: How to Create a Unique Data Portfolio Project." It has been incredibly helpful in expanding my knowledge and skills.
I had a question regarding another API , the UA-cam Data Analytics API. I've been trying to understand its functionalities and how it could potentially enhance my own
analytics projects. From what I've gathered so far, it seems that this API is primarily designed for content creators to analyze the performance of their own uploaded videos. Could you please confirm if my understanding is accurate?
If my understanding is incorrect, I would greatly appreciate it if you could shed some light on how the UA-cam Data Analytics API works and how it can be utilized to create more engaging and insightful analytics projects.
also I would love to see a tutorial video similar to the one you created previously.Thank you for considering my request, and I look forward to your response.
So it means i shall go for ms in business analytics instead of ms data analytics?
My concern is not whether automation will take the job. Most jobs are just sent out to other places. This is good for them, but means that I have no place
0:18 Isn't Ahmedabad, Gujarat spelling wrong in the Excel sheet 😅?
I am a Student,,,i am doing my BSc in Software Engineering,,,Please suggest me which subject I should pursue masters degree which will be in demand in future,,,AI or Data Science or Robotics???
why would you copy confidential datas into something which is publicly open like GPT 4
I am an undergraduate students studying 1st year of cse
Is it better to gain knowledge in data analyst field .
Recommended free courses for me
Personally I think AI will be a very powerful to bridging people without Tech background into Tech as well now it’s open to people with big Ideal but dont know how to transfer it to real life use case.
Làm định lượng nó có giống DA k vậy ạ
thank you! would be interested in your view about: Should You Still Learn Website Development?
I’m not familiar with developers job market, but from what I see there’s a lot of potential for automation at the entry level web designer work
Product person here considering transition into data job fully. Tired of product job
Is foreseeable future 5 years or 10…?
🔥🔥🔥
omg i dont know where to start was my favorite excuse >:C
I think often, people are mixing automation with AI. Sure, AI can enable more automation (data cleaning, building graphs, writing documentation) BUT true AI is much more than that. AI can perform analysis and provide insights (the "data detective" tasks); AI has domain knowledge. So, the analogy with spreadsheet is simplistic and flawed.
AI being a tool for easier automation is the current situation but that's not the real aim of people pushing AI. Even if some tasks are eliminated and new ones created, the bottom line is that overall the need for human labor will diminish. That's the inherent goal of AI. What users are doing now is training the AI. So, yeah, you are still okay with your DA job for the next 10-15 years, while the AI is being trained; but beyond that, I won't bet on it.
9:45: Lowering the entry barrier: this means a race to the bottom for workers due to increased competition.

Recommended free courses for me😊
will AI replace data science jobs
I am 38 without any programming career can i start this career
Mam can u teach complete data science course from scratch to end please ❤
I am 23 years old how i can learn and how much
AI can clean, analyze and visualize data in 2 seconds. As simple as that. You gotta have to be something really special.
If that’s the case then why do AI continuously get things wrong even after writing detailed prompts?
Agreed
How about business analytics? 😊
Did you ever get an answer?
❤
Should I study BSc in Data analytics or BSc in computer Science?
Computer Science.
Data analytics is just a portion of computer science. With computer science you get the whole package and you will be able to do data analysis/ data science
Thank you
Are you Vietnamese?
The content os great! But this nonsense vocal fry at the end of each phrase steals the concentration 😅
🤔
2:47 One day cleaning data will be like this Thu! One day... 😜
Also, great analogy for relating this to learning to drive a car
Hahaha, let’s have some hope! 🙈
copilot in excel is a joke. 4 keyboard shortcut keys vs. typing "add a column to the table bla bla"
When will the Coursera offer expire?
It’s at the moment until 14 Jan :)
Well, you said something retoric. Would be good to show us facts from your job to see more clear that it is worth to learn data analytics in 2024. Not this clickbait video.
Kind of agree, I don't believe the question was convincingly addressed here.
bhai mai hindi midiuam se ho to iay mai y kar sakata hu😢
Haan bhai, Hindi me sikhane wale tutorials bhi hai youtube par, but ek baat dhayan me rakho market kharab chal raha hai to ek dum fast job milne ka expectation mat rakho. Agar aapke pass time hai seekhne ka to data engineering seekho wo zyada safe hai, data analytics aur dheere dheere data science me AI ka istemal badh gaya hai.
Mo
Marry me? 🤧
Not something to be learned.
According to Taiwanese businessman Kai-Fu Lee if you go the technology career route you will be jobless In the next 15 years.
Avoid
- Statistics /Mathmatics / Physics / Biology / Engineering / etc
- Computer Science / Data Science
- Lagal and Compliance
- Tiktok / UA-cam / Music / Adult Entertainment - in 2024 these folks will be the majority of beggers on the side of the road
- Education
Go for
- Sales (AI can't emulate emotions yet)
- Skilled Trades (niche work not basic construction as AI robots can do that)
- Caregiving
- Hostpitality (Again AI can't emulate emotions yet and the ultra rIch will always need servants)
- Military
Yah, people who say AI won't replace jobs anytime soon simply aren't paying attention.
Some fields in the military will also be taken over by AI.
You are correct about the ultra-rich and human servants. In fact, the ultra-rich and their kids will be the only ones who can afford human teachers, entertainers, cooks and waiters. The human touch will be a luxury. We can already see the early signs: more and more students are being taught via recorded videos and apps. Customers are serviced by chatbots.
Thanks a lotttt
