Avet LX 4.6 Hard To Crank - Diagnosis & Fix: Fishing Reel Repair
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 жов 2024
- This Avet LX 4.6 was VERY difficult to crank (The seal on the bearing literally melted away!), but also had a few more issues. The reel was purchased second hand and brought to me to fix. This vid deals, predominantly, with the cranking issue because the reel needed a few other tweaks and TLC elsewhere that I didn't record. Here's the video of the diagnosis and fix. See below for helpful equipment and supply links. If you found this video useful, please show some love by hitting the thumbs up button and consider....

I, generally, use a ratcheting, interchangeable regular-sized screwdriver for the initial loosening of screws. Here's a link to the brand I use:

Get some additional, varying sizes Flathead and Phillips bits while you're at it.
The adjustable wrenches I use (instead of hex nut wrenches) are Husky, but these (with the red insert) work very well... 6-inch will be used the most:

I just bought an Avet MXL 5.8 MC yesterday, opened the box, pulled it out, pulled the lever down to free spin, turned the handle and found the handle it was hard to turn. It was stiff. I don't know that's the way all Avet reels are like that. First time I want to own one. Watched youtube videos and found many Avet videos showed they've had different problems, such as stiff handle to crank, MC problem, and clicker button. I don't understand why many youtube videos reviews of Avet reels owners like them. Yeap, they're nice, different colors, one piece aircraft aluminum body, made in USA, but they have many problems. Well, I'll return it and buy a Shimano reel, it's more expensive but you get what you pay for.
Thanks for watching! To each their own. Yes, you should return it for a replacement or refund... it shouldn't do that. True, there are lovers and haters of Avet. I like a lot, but not their steep drag curve.

Have you found Avets to be a high maintenance reel? I am seeing alot of bearing issues with these reported..and corrosion issues, clicker issues etc..
Thanks for watching. It's all relative... like buying a work truck versus an exotic car.
could you show how to replace the clicker housing for a avet LX ? have 3 reels that the clicker no longer works. It is a 3 dollar part....the reels are only a few years old.... thank you
Thanks for watching! I don't get them in that often, but will make the vid if I do. In the meantime, you can open the reel as seen the in this video.... then go to the click tongue side and remove the e-clip that holds it in place to replace it, assuming the click tongue is the issue.
where did you get the bearings from? I emailed Avet but haven't heard from them and could those bearings be replaced with regular bearings?
Thanks for checking out the video! If the thickness of the bearings are comparable, you should be able to sub them. I got bearings directly from Avet.
@@TSGReelService thank you, i finally got ahold off them.
No worries.
The worst maintenance I have ever seen
