Vin introduces Sori to Fear Factory

Fear Factory influenced thousands of bands. They were really the first band doing the heavy verse/clean chorus thing that everyone does now. They were also the first to take that industrial "Ministry" vibe to this level of fame. They were a big part of my teen angst, as were Pantera, Machinehead, Slayer, Sepultura, Faith No More, and Carcass.

@@plantdesigns7889 Sometimes bands due covers 'cause the label tells them to. I personally think that a cover could be a good way for someone to be introduced to a broader audience. That's why I thought that Iron Maiden not allowing radio stations to play their cover of Jethro Tull's Cross-eyed Mary was a bad mistake. It was a killer version and that could have put them over the top popularity wise in the US back in the day.

The reason this song is simplistic in its views is because the album Obsolete is a concept album about a future when machines have already taken over the world. Surprised that point never came up. Fear Factory is one of my fav bands, and they are massively popular, just not quite to KoRn levels.

  • @ianh6845

I mean, Fear Factory is pretty popular in the metal scene. Obviously not more popular than Korn but there were/are a lot of bandwagon Korn fans so I take their popularity with a grain of salt. Strapping Young Lad & Fear Factory are in that genre of Industrial Metal that most metalheads are aware of.

    • @ThyVile
      @ThyVile 4 роки тому +1

Fear Factory are not "sales figures" popular. They're more like "they influenced us even if we have no clue" polular. Korn is great and I love them but FF is much more chrestomatic to modern metal as a whole.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fear Factory are my favourite metal band of all time, so this made me happy. This song's outro drives me crazy in the best way, and whenever it starts I just can't resist the urge to headbang wildly lol. They're writing a new album, and though it isn't out yet, it's already my metal Album Of The Year XD.
Anyway, "Securitron" was somewhat inspired by Philip K. Dick's short story "The Minority Report", a novella written in 1959 that centered around a future age wherein crimes are being stopped before they happen, because peoples thoughts are being policed and merely thinking of committing a crime is enough to warrant being arrested.
Fear FACT-ory: The band's lead vocalist Burton C. Bell was THE FIRST frontperson in metal to employ both clean singing and harsh vocals.

So Obsolete was a concept album with a similar narrative to terminator. Securitron is the antagonist organization opposed by the hero, Edgecrusher, eventually in the narrative Securitron creates the downfall of humanity in the form of The Smasher Devourer which is a machine that determines that humanity must be destroyed and replaced by something less chaotic as it’s job is to enforce law and order.
It’s a little out there to say the least but it sounds awesome.

I think you guys would dig Scar Symmetry. Kind of similar to Fear Factory, but more melodic and guitar solos. Really enjoy FF though. Replica is one of my favorite songs from my teenage years.

I LOVED the Obsolete album when I was in middle school & high school! I was also listening to a ton of Rage Against The Machine, Atari Teenage Riot, and hardcore punk at the time. I remember carrying the insert to Rage Against The Machine's Evil Empire album so I could look for the banned books at the bookstore in the mall and at the library.

Coincidentally, I was talking with some younger metal heads and I referenced fear factory. I was shocked they hadn't heard of them. In my opinion, you can hear a lot of influence from bands like this in some newer up and coming bands.

LEGENDARY XD Vin imitating the band is priceless! This song got me hooked on FF, describes the current future state of security in the "21st century". You should try to get an interview with Burton C Bell as well...would be a fantastic interview. This song actually more geared towards a Robocop(new) future than actually being a political statement. Do a React for Obsolete....itll explain the whole album. Long Live the MP's!

The whole Obsolete album is brilliant front to back. It's based on an Orwell novella that he released under his real name in lieu of George Orwell. You guys should do Resurrection or Shock. They're both my go-to when driving. Yeah, I kind of like my subs to stop my heart. Lol

Fear Factory, also very well known, and since Demanufacture very consistent, according to some too much so, but still a lot of good stuff.
But, i suggest you check the song Demanufacture.
Personally, Demanufacture and Obsolete are my favorites still.

Thanks for doing Fear Factory. They’re probably my favourite band behind Pantera. They are more recognised as the fathers of Industrial Metal along with Strapping Young Lad, rather than Nu Metal. If you could do another stream of a full album I’d love if you could do Obsolete. It’s a concept or story album that is beautifully written.
