The fact that I didn't recognise it was Katie Piper goes to prove how far her injuries have healed. She's an extremely brave woman who couldn't be beaten by a coward.
They have done an amazing job helping her heal. Whenever someone complains to me about plastic surgery, I always tell them "If it something that is making them feel better about themselves, then they should go for it" Obv if it's something a partner is wanting, then they are disgusting and I hope the person gets out of that relationship.
Not to put her down for what she went through but have you seen her comments about reby hardy making her youngest daughter a gothic nursery and also any other women who do the same

Katie Piper is amazing. She’s one of those truly inspirational people - she was r*ped, almost killed and had acid poured on her face - all because her ex was a monster who couldn’t let her go, so he paid someone to do this to her.

10:03 (10:54) It's actually *good* that you answered in the middle of the day. They are looking for houses where _nobody answers_ because then they know that nobody is home during the day and they can potentially come back and rob the house during that time.
The fact that you answered them may well have kept your house off of any potential "hit list".
the hand warmer is also known as Taschenwärmer (pocket warmer) and is pretty common here in germany. when you bend the metal plate the liquid in the pack undergoes a chemical reaction where it crystalizes and heats up. it can get up to 60°C at the beginning so just activate them and put them in your jacket pockets. wait for about 2-3 minutes and then put your hands in your pockets and your hands will be confy warm.
Yeah I instantly recognize it too. My dad had a bunch from when we lived in Michigan
Agreed from the Czech Republic. Not really that common to have one here, but I'm guessing pretty much everyone would know what it is. :)
Here in the US there is a famous brand of them called hot pockets (not the food) and it is basically that but a tiny unopenable bag.

Grave markers that have errors are commonly resold to be used as paving stones (and the carver makes a new none for the grave, to be clear).
So either there's a dead baby or old landscaping in your yard... that's a creepy coin toss.

Oh yeah, "stainless steel soap" is for deodorizing your hands after you've been handling stinky food. You can get the same effect by rubbing your hands on the back of a metal spoon.
Mostly used for garlic, for some reason Garlic and Stainless Steel react oddly, pulling the smell off your hands. Thats why most sinks are also stainless steel, least mine is, rub your fingers on it while washing and done.
or my personal favorite after. handling garlic, running your hands along a faucet in the sink.
It doesn't work...
Or if you have grind coffee available, rub your hands with that and wash it... Bonus is, that you get a smooth skin...
@@ignitiongaming136I'd have to wash my hands again after rubbing them on a kitchen sink
Its actually a good thing the door was answered in the middle of the day. It means the house is occupied and not a target.
Answering during the day is the good thing. If nobody answers during the day then they can assume the house is empty during the day and ripe for robbery.
The mongolian sheep bones are actually game pieces used for many different games, not a single game. They have 4 distinct sides they can land on when you throw them(the sides have the names horse, sheep, goat and camel).
Source: have lived in mongolia and have a bag of them(actual bones, not cast ones) as a souvenir.
On the note of fake sales people looking for who answers in the middle of the day, it's not that they're looking for houses where you do, they're looking for houses where you don't. Answering the door means someone's home, someone being home means a witness, a witness means they won't get away with the likely robbery. They want houses where you don't answer since most robbery's don't happen at night. Think about it, Would you wanna rob a house where you know people are almost definitely gonna be there and asleep or one where they're out and no ones home?
I wonder if that style of casing houses is less successful these days. I know lots of people (myself included) who pretend they aren't home when they see salespeople at their door, which would make things very awkward for the robber breaking in.
@@synonym1196 Exactly. I just don't always answer the door if it's someone I don't know for the very reason I assume it's a sales person or a religion peddler.
@@synonym1196 Same. If people broke into my house every time I didn't answer the phone or door I'd have a line up at my front door/broken window!

About the one with the red stuff in the key hole, I believe OP asked family and their mom or mil had spilled lipstick in her bag, it got on her key, and then she used the key to get in the house. No theft tactics involved

So, crazy story...Went to Middle School at Wawona Middle School (Fresno, California), and I was in the California Cadet Corps with a girl named Veronica Arreola. Did a quick search, and asked some old friends some VERY weird questions. Now I can confirm that the girl I went to school with would have been Jacque Arreola's niece.
The one in the flower vase is called a flower frog, and it is used for flower arranging. Nowadays, we usually use plastic ones or floral foam

With the tracking cigarettes they also do this for certain pharmaceutical drugs such as opioids. They'll have false bottles with GPS, trackers and weights so that someone breaks in the pharmacy they can track them down
10:02 I can also answer about the game. I think if I remember right the game is called knuckle bones. (As it is played with those bones which are typically sheep and sometimes pig bones from the knuckle part of the hoof) It is a predecessor of modern games played with dice! Hence why you may want a gift set because it is kind of historically important. I'm sure you could probably find the rules online if you looked
Was about to come down here to mention that the game might be knuckle bones! I ran into it a while back
@@raihorkko6067was also going to comment knucklebones, mum was an avid player
It's called "osselets" in French, quite surprised r/WITT didn't know about knucklebones.

I used to play them at school. I think I still have a set somewhere

4:30 Well, Jack, as a fellow Hot climate resident... I can concur that we don't really need hand warmers.
dude im freezing and we just hit 105 f in august
@@Laura-bs2hw You live in Arizona? Turn off the AC/Fan then lmfao. Freezing and 105f doesn't mix unless you're sweating like a pig in arid desert areas.
My place is also 105 but it's humid beyond belief and Sweat cooling can't work in Humid areas, I can only "freeze" here if I have some AC on
9:33 if I'm not wrong, it's a game that's called "knucklebones" in english? Pretty sure the note is just keeping tracks of the score and figures the players did. It's a really really ancient game, people have been playing it for centuries.
I immediately thought it was knucklebones too. Just one was missing.
i love you guys for making more of Whatisthisthing! i love this subreddit! And Jacc has to live with that first joke for the rest of his life!! muahahaha

edit: we're safe, it was just the power company
13:50 Yeah, I think the guys in the Reddit thread you showed are correct. Those large spherical tanks are more than likely for transporting liquid natural gas such as liquid nitrogen or others of that nature via ship. The picture looks like some sort of salvage operation underway they are more than likely scrapping the ships and their components for the metals. The spherical tanks would normally be in the ship ^^;
Can confirm, the steel soap really works! We used it to get the stink off our hands from various barnyard sources
4:30 An Aussie saying that they don't need handwarmers is a gentle reminder to me that not everyone goes to -40° in the winter
Apparently the lady, Katie Piper, was attacked with sulfuric acid by a man named Stefan Sylvestre on the behalf of an ex boyfriend of Katie’s named lynch who was apparently very obsessive.
3:35 Okay this would be SUCH a cool idea but like...looking at the shape, the size, the colors, all I can think is that this is a bottle opener and contact lens case combo. It's stressing me out just how much the caps and compartments look like they're for contact lenses, because if they're just extra caps for a drink, why are there compartments inside them and not just solid plastic to twist them onto??
Less plastic means cheaper to make.
@@CodyusedPSI I low key thought that too, but it seems like it kind of cancels itself out since you're adding plastic caps to the mounts/indents. This is bugging the heck out of me so much lol
HUGE Metal Ball; answer 3 is close, it's a Crusher Ball used in mining .
Put many of these in a large barrel like a lotto machine from HELL and it crushes the rocks as it turns .
Never heard of stainless steel soap, you learn something new every day.
Things similar to pocket roulette wheels still exist and have a few variations available still being made. For example I was gifted a pocket lotto number picker at a recent convention. It was smaller, shaped like a cilinder. Had multiple "wheels" inside stacked one on top of the other, that would randomly rotate at the push of a button on the top with a small window to view the randomly generated number. Meant to help you choose a lottery number. I know is not the exact same thing but it's clearly a variation and there are more variations out there
5:30 Ah, so THAT's why my mom tells me to rub the faucet after I chop onions...
Editor Kenny is my favorite editor and does not get enough appreciation for his work.
Yep. Thats definitely a rose bowl. Or a flower arrangement bowl. The two grates allow the stems to be held in your desired position. Similar use as florist foam blocks.
Sheep bones is also called Knuckle Bones, or sometimes Jacks (that’s actually a similar but different game). I’ll let you google how to play it, it’d take to long to write out.

Had to see what the deal w/ Katie was, and *jesus* dude, she got it BAD.
Also I'm pretty sure the bottle-opener w/ the weird caps is actually for keeping your contact lenses in, like one of those weird multi-purpose travel tools.
I don’t think bottle openers would have contact lense capd
Those LNG containers used to be inside ships! I think 3-4 per ship is common. LNG carriers are known to be some of the toughest built civilian ships out there because liquid natural gas is super explosive. Presumably, the tanks are super tough so they must be the last things of the ship to get scrapped.
I got an electronic handwarmer for my sister a while ago, she has issues with her circulation and it can get pretty painful for her in the cold. This was after my mum got her one of those liquid based ones, unfortunately the requirement to boil it was just way too inconvenient for us.
i hope it works now
According to wikipedia, the stainless steel soap doesn't have much to back the efficacy of it.
I’m guessing that the crystal looking thing in the Civic trunk could be a piece of fiberglass.
Kinda looks strange to be fiberglass though. Regular fiberglass that are used in cars such as bumpers don’t look like that.
I’m really curious as to what it actually is.
actually, most bumpers made nowadays are made of TPO Thermoplastic; the only other theory I have is the civic in question is a Hybrid Model because the Hybrid Battery in those models is in between the rear seat and trunk.
I think the cocktail stick is designed almost like a fork because it mixes viscous liquids like condensed milk or syrup better and faster than other shapes. But also make them hands bc funny

Stainless steel soap works wonders did you cook fish takes the smell away, but for bakteria ya need soap. I worked as cook at one point so I knew that thing :D
@9:18, in New Zealand they're called Knucklebones. It's an ancient game and the "bones" are made of metal now, though they were actually bones back in the day. We play with 5 of them.
4:23 yes it is true, however its old and isnt produced that much anymore but the mechanism still is used till today and can still be used like this. Nowadays mostly used is a chemical now that does the same thing but faster
Jack makes this so much better than it should be
9:14 those are 'Shagai' or more well known as knuckles or knucklebones. It's a game where you cup the knucklebones in your hand and throw them up a little, and try to catch as many as you can on the back of your hand. It's pretty fun once you get the technique down, I used to play with my mum when I was little, we had a plastic set.
Hey aren't you the crap I'm working for?
I've had one of those handwarmers! Flexing the disc causes the liquid to crystallize, and the reaction produces heat.
If you take of both caps you make a screeneshot

the initial description reminded me exactly of that to begin with, I used to have one, it did wonders in getting the smell of in-n-out out of my hands
you cover it in liquid soap and use it like a bar of soap and bam

where I live, we don't have fancy "avalanch mitigation pods". instead we have avalanch mortar canons. just fire explosives into the side of the mountian to knock off loose snow! gotta say, it is a bit scary hearing mortar fire while snowshoing out in the middle of the woods
Ok 9:36 it is mongolian handwriting but... very poorly and its purpose is actually the same as tarot cards but better and optimistic you roll the "Shagai" and depending on what you roll like 1 camel 1 horse 1 sheep 1 goat then your prediction or question will ABSOLUTELY 100% succeed no questions.
Edit: this "Shägai" literally means ankle's which usually are the ankle bone of the 4 animals more higher quality ines like that have all 4 animals so get the manual for "шагайн өрх" in cyrllic if possible and translate it to English and badda bing badda boom optimistic ankle's 😅😂
The Mongolian sheep bones are just knuckle bones a game common all around the world. I had a set as a kid, they are made out of metal because plastic does not weigh enough to fall correctly when playing with them.
13:34 Its the site of a free ship neutering drive. >_> They just get that big by absorbing water.
10:05 I remember seeing this one and OP replied saying it was a family member's lipstick which got on the key while it was in their purse.
For the thumbnail, that looks like someone tried to pick your lock, broke the tool, and then used a wax stick to pull the broken tool piece out.
5:00 So giving the stainless steel soap a sniff wouldn't have worked.
Editor Kenny has some mad skiing skills!!
These robots looks like the star wars ones.
Avalanche mitigation pods use gas and noise to get rid of loose snow. So basically they fart the avalanche away?
The first one, got me though i am bad a timing to.
It's funny you never heard of hand warmers! Here in Michigan they are our saving grace during the winter especially hunting season, there's also feet warmers and some that will stick to the inside of your coat to rest against your torso to keep it warm
2:25 can confirm that it is indeed called a rose bowl, and the "grill" is actually called a rose bowl net
Also glass ones are called frogs :)
With the Jack going to he’ll counter technically he is already living in hell ( which is already Australia)( that probably why it’s already infinity)?
As for the metal soap, I normally use a spoon and it works just as good imo 😅

I mean... yes... but actually, no.
It is the power of magnetism between two molecules, but because the electrons on the outermost layer of the atoms interact with each other forming binds through a magnetic fenomena related to electron spin.
But it's not necessary magnetism because it only works with materials that can react with Stainless steel because of their properties.
1:19 ah yes, the forbidden toilet brush
From personal experience the steel soap bar is wierd but DOES work..
People who use contact lenses: Am I a joke to you?
I typed in "rose bowl with metal insert" and got the answer. I remember seeing the "replacement vase inserts" at graveyards to stop flowers from falling over..

4:20 yeah i have multiple of these for when i freeze to death or have cramps, they come in many shapes/colors and they are reuseable
12:50 Fun story to tell if someone just touched dimethylmercury.
11:45 I doubt it's a ball bearing. IME, ball bearings are rarely used in any industrial equipment, at least in high load areas. They're garbage for anything that might experience a high axial load and they have a high point load when loaded radially. Heavy stuff uses journal/plain bearings or tapered/cylindrical roller bearings, depending on use case and era. Ball bearings are great for relatively light loads at high speeds, but that's about it.
Ohh this is gonna be good! Happy Monday EmKay🙏
The Iron ball is used in rock-crushing in gold and silver mines, they are put inside a drum rock crusher where they pound the rocks into powder for the separation tanks.
Stainless steel soap is something that sounds dumb but you would be really surprised. Obviously real soap is always better but if your out of soap but have one of these suckers available you would be shocked or weirded out with just how well these actually work. Its mind boggling.
Another avalanche mitigation system is the "Avalauncher."
It's basically a howitzer.
