Ive been taking my husky "mushing" for a few years, so I loved seeing your video. It really made me smile that Im not the only one doing this. Here are a few extra tips:
1) Be aware that lots of running on concrete can be tough on your dog's paw pads. In the winter months (in South Carolina), we would do 7-10 mile runs, 3 times a week. Eventually I began to notice my dog's paw pads were turning red. Using balms like Mushers Secret before the run, and then putting other paw balms on at night really helped his feet. I tried using the booties but he hated them.
2) Bring water on your runs but only give them a small bowl at a time every 2-3 miles. When I first started, Mausers would lap up a full bowl, and so I would refill it and he would lap that up too. Then we would start going again and he would vomit it all up, (without breaking stride). So now I only give him about one cup of water when we pause, and then he gets a full bowl at the end of the run.
3) Make sure you rotate your roller blade wheels after every 3-4 runs.
4) I loved your section on control. I trained Mausers to obey "Gee" and "Haw" and "Woah" which I learned from reading Jack London novels.
This is great! Great tips - I'll include them in later videos. I haven't taught Slush Gee, Haw and Woah yet, but I'll try it soon. Thank you!
This is perfect for me and my Canicross running pup! She's too fast for me I swear, I gotta get wheels to keep up 😅
That's great! I'm glad this video helped. It's sooo fun being able to roll with your pup!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 this is awesome!
Thanks Jasmine❤
My worst fear he sees a bunny and drags me to my death 😂
I know what you mean 😄 I suggest keeping your dog to the side the most you can so your dog pulls you more sideways than forward. I hope that helps!
@@SlushTheHusky does it make a difference what level you hold the leash? like more stable lower down?
@@that_garden_gnome yeah the lower you hold the more control and stability you have. I typically hold it lower when I’m trying to shift his position from the left to the right
Dooope!
