- In this video, I'm on two missions.
1. Go get some audio equipment so I can make marginally better videos for y'all. You deserve to hear me stutter clearly!
2. Test out speed skating race wheels that are designed to be super fast, really grippy, and give speedskaters the edge that they need, no pun intended. These wheels are the Rollerblade Hydrogen Pro's, 90 mm XX Firm.

this makes me realize how underrated roller blades are as a mode of transport
I mean its a harder skill than biking let alone walking... regardless the same infrastructure used by bikes would work for roller skating
I’ve always thought man if I could have a pair of heelys my size lol but yea this is way faster but takes more skill
@@neurofiedyamato8763doesn’t change the fact it’s underrated
How do you slow down?
@@tgagaming1354 3:46 drag a foot sideways
Especially at those speeds, I promise nobody would think less of you using elbow, knee, wrist pads. Eventually you know what is going to happen.
10/10 would be in full hockey gear 😂😂
as a previous longboarder, these were considered more of a hazard than a protection.
We can heal from scrapes but if our 'protection' makes it harder to land properly from a fall/ prevent a fall and as such we hit our head or fall ugly, then it goes besides the point.
No hate on kiddies wearing these ❤ but it's usually why adult skaters wear no protection or just a helmet.

I think the important thing to note about this is how much it relies on the awareness of others, if you pay attention several people had to stop, or move to accommodate his movement, not everyone is gonna do this and some people will purposefully try to hurt you
I disagree completely. He clearly anticipates his own moves in order to avoid needing the attention of anyone else to see him. By the time he's in your orbit, he's just as fast out of your orbit and none of your concern. I can see startling a few people, but aren't New Yorkers supposed to be tough? But for the part he's moving too fast for anyone to really notice him until it's too late and he's already well past them and so "hurting him" isn't really an option.
He skates on too many blind spots. People can't be aware if they can't see him
@@kalfch1 Once again, he doesn't need anyone to "be aware" of him. He looks out for himself.
@@marcuslinton310"Arent New Yorkers supposed to be tough?" Just like Texans all have guns with no fear to use them, right? Uvalde put a forever pin in that.
I do agree with your overall sentiment for sure, though.
@@marcuslinton310 right… . It’s not a matter of if but a matter of when he’ll have taken one too many blindspots and rides over a pedestrian/ open door or any other obstacle that wasn’t aware of him. There is a reason cities don’t just have a paved surface and a free for anyone to go/ drive wherever they want. Guess which one.
This has got to be the closest feeling to flying without actually flying… I love how skating makes me feel…
yeah, your just gliding through the streets with the wind in ur face

As a former nyc brakeless fixie rider getting doored by a tourist getting off a cab is the biggest of all dangers

sounds fun
doored, we all know the term
Damn
As a lane splitting motorcyclist in nyc getting doored is half the battle. The other half is jaywalking pedestrians jumping out between cars.
Man I'm just captivated by your skate style and how chillaxed you look while carving up the traffic.
Thank you, it's certainly a thrill

this entire video is what inspired me to start skating. i've now been skating for 7 months and have mastered my full balance almost making it IMPOSSIBLE to fall over when skating, I've also been dedicated and still get lessons every Friday, I've got moderate transport at the moment to the point where i'll never need a car, and also NEVER need to pay for transportation anywhere cause of my skates. Thank YOU The Stuttering Skater. You've full on changed MY Life.
Oh ... It will happen ..My wrist guards have plenty of scrapes.
I wish I lived in a city where this made sense, but I live in a county. We don't even have sidewalks.
That is incredibly good footage Stut! 360 editing was perfect. Be careful out there!
Who would have thought you could make rollerblading look cool in this day and age. Bravo sir. Bring back the 90's man.
its already been brought back. these kids are just repeating what we already did lol
I miss my skates. was never at his level but in my youth I remember the zen flow state that he has.
@@michaelb3581As someone who was a part of the original rollerskate generation in the 1970s, I have to say no one has a right to gatekeep. There's no "We did it first". You only say stuff like that to gloat, which really speaks volumes about your own insecurity. People of all ages and all periods of time have a right to enjoy whatever pastime they so feel like enjoying, without criticism or gatekeeping.
There has been a big resurgence of roller blades. I dusted my late 80's rollerblades and started back at it. Man I do miss the late-night downtown sessions, working on turns and backward skating. Great way to burn a few calories and enjoy it at the same time.
This! 🔥 🔥
Came up on this channel by accident but will say you were skating majestically through those streets. You're like the real life Jet Set Radio 🔥
This ^
The music has the same vibes too. feel like the first are from Jet Set Radio Future
Was just thinking the same, damn
I...I don't like you because I miss that game now, and wish there was a 2023 version QQQQQ x.x
YES, EXACTLY, THIS VIDEO IS PERFECT
I wish I had the confidence to speed threw the city like that. So sick. That fancy footwork in the park was the vibe.
This is one of the more entertaining videos ive seen in a while. A good way to show the city.
I had a pair of roller blades in the early 90’s, never got anywhere near that fast lol
Just found this channel and honestly this looks like a hella fun video game. The relaxed posture, the smooth turns and changes, the music choice. 10/10 so cool to watch. It’s so unbelievable how you weave through cars casually hoping over edges and manhole covers. Can’t imagine how much of a physical and mental workout this must be.
Blades are a lot quicker and cheeper than cars in new york. Faster than skateboarding although not as cool, but defo cooler than e scooters.
@@1stgrate2bbuck84 honestly, depending on the blades you have and how you carry/dress yourself, they can be cooler than skateboarding. There's a dude at my college, total emo guy, who goes around in black bellbottom jeans, a black leather jacket, black hair and black eyeliner, with black blades that practically look like combat boots. He wears his blades as often as most people wear shoes, and you'll see him gliding around from class to class all the time. Really cool dude, and definitely stands out a lot more than the average skater bro with a thrasher t shit and a snapback. On average though, I will agree that bladers tend to look a tad bit more dorky than most skaters.
@@H_M_Q23 that sounds really gay
@@H_M_Q23You described the most edgy uncool look ever. Only hot goth chicks were hot and thats because they are already hot. Maybe you just have a crush on that guy or something.
Looks cool and probably feels great to do, but it's all probably gonna come to an end when you end up meeting someone just as unpredictable as yourself.
Just like surfing. They know a shark can get em one day but then again, maybe not.
Or a cop, because basically none of this is legal. You have to obey traffic laws, stay to the right or in a bike lane, etc., when doing this in NYC.
The streets of NYC are predictable in nature, once you learn the flow of the streets everyone is on the same wavelength.
@@thestutteringskater I mean I can see that, too. No harm no foul. Good luck!
Its too easy for him. Sorry :D

I took up rollerblading when I was around 50. When I first got them I tried them in the house. The carpets weren't short enough, so I went to a room with wood floors. "Whoa!!" I took off and thought I was going to go through the window. Problem was, I live out in the country, but there was a school nearby that had a small oval drive. But that wasn't long enough, so I went into town that has extensive bike paths. I'd end up "blading" 7 or 8 miles, one way, at a time. I just couldn't figure out when to turn around...truth. LOL Other things came up and I headed of to other things to do. I'm going to be 72 next August and miss rollerblading.
I wish uou could still do it. That'd be awesome.
MAD RESPECT ✊✊ KEEP IT UP BROTHER
You must be in good shape
Back in the early days of ebay and dialup, I had to work at night because of less traffic on the innerwebs.
I'd take a break in the middle of the night and Rollerblade down the LAKESHORE path on the lake side of Lakeshore Drive in Chicago. The summer Daley re-paved it. It was GLORIOUS. Me, gangbangers and sleeping cops were the only ones out at 3 a.m., on the lakefront, and I could blade for MILES. I was 35 \and just learned.
COOL summer. I also bladed RIGHT DOWN LAKESHORE DRIVE!
Bless you
Your spidey senses are amazing! Stay safe out there and keep the uploads coming!!
Your videos have inspired me to skate again after like 20 years at least. Thank you and be careful out there, man!
I just sat for 10 minutes staring at my computer screen with my jaw to the ground. My brother had to pick up my jaw and put it back in place. The sheer skill needed to roller blade thru the street of NYC at those speeds is insane. This guy has the biggest balls out of any New Yorker!
well to be fair everyone who lives in nyc is a lgbt vegan beta libtard who gets offended by words.... sooooo
He’s a middle aged dweeb rollerblading, relax
Huge balls , no brains.
you are confusing courage with stupidity. This is extremely risky. Even if no one collides with him, or he with anyone... clipping a single stationary obstacle at those speeds EASILY compound fractures the ankle, and potentially then some, and thats if you don't hit any other part of your body on unyielding structures on the way down.
People just don't understand the risk, and how fragile their bodies are. I am a pretty decent skater, and I've only done a few urban skates...the only time I tried skating through the busy inner city streets...its was so stressful with constant potential dangers...I'm like, yeah...I'm good out chillin on the trails.
You can tell he has big ones cause he picked them up when he went over the poll to make sure they didn't hang lol
This video got recommended to me by UA-cam. At first I thought those had some kind of electric motor but they are just perfectly engineered wheels on a very skilled skater! So satisfying yet thrilling to watch!
I used to roller skate literally everywhere ! by seeing this video so many good memories came to life ! tnx for that !!!

This is so crazy, what a speedy tour! Thanks for that great pictures and this awsome trip! It's very dangerous between all this cars and traffic, be careful❤😂
Holding my breath with hella anxiety! Mad props to you...thats pretty incredible!
I remember watching videos years ago of fixed gear cyclists, with no brakes, in NYC. That was insane, but this might just take it to a whole new level. Good stuff dude.
Nah, those guys are way more hardcore
Why TF would you ride a bike.... WITHOUT BRAKES??? Am I missing something or are they being assholes to every padestrian out there?
@@TheStaniG "Fixed gear" means the pedals are connected directly to the wheels with no freewheel mechanism. You can slow down the same way you speed up, by applying force to the pedals. In a pinch you can drag your foot on the wheel (e.g. if the chain gets derailed). So it's not quite as insane as it sounds.
@@OMGclueless wait you mean all this "fixie" stuff ppl keep harping on about is just a normal bike with a chain but with a single sprocket fixed on the rear wheel like childrens bikes used to be in the 90s cos derailleurs were for rich ppl????
Lmao lame. Nvm then.... ty for the explanation tho.

I'm note even able to break through the crazy amount of top technical shit you just did while seeming like dancing through NYC streets... Absurd!
What really stood the most for me was the bond between both visual/physical and musical dimensions. Not only jumps and landings but even acceleration was compassing the music beats. Amazing job👏
See this is exactly why I love ice skating the movements just look so fluid and smooth and the efficiency of turning your chemical energy to kinetic energy must be phenomenal on roller skates.

I've been to NYC once before, but just for a few days as a tourist. What's really fun is that a lifetime of seeing versions NYC in TV, movies, comic books, and video games has apparently given me at least some idea of certain landmarks. For example, I knew he was at least approaching the Hudson River Greenway (I didn't know what it was called before seeing this video) before we could actually see the water. Probably not impressive for most people, but I was pretty excited about it.

From my pov I think these roads are great for skating. I love that they have one way roads over there, lots of lanes and cars all moving in same direction so he can freely cross. I also prefer skating on roads with a fair bit of traffic, don’t get me wrong I love going down empty roads but if I’m moving slower than cars behind me I just get on the pavement cuz I understand people have places to be and don’t want to be impeding on their time so for me the traffic here looks great. That being said I noticed some pretty tight lines in the video especially at high speed so what you said does kinda make sense. Always gotta be careful
This is awesome! Takes me back to the days of riding a fixed gear back around Chicago with narrow bars so I could fit between tighter gaps in traffic. There’s nothing like the feeling of flowing through traffic and being totally keyed into what is going on all around you.
