Beyblade is honestly WAY better than it had any business being XD The story is pretty solid, the voice acting in the dub is hilarious and awesome, and it's just honestly fun to watch.
The funniest moment in the dub is during the China arc between Tyson and Kevin: Kevin:"You totally look like the weakest link! Weakest link, weakest link!" Tyson: "Yeah!?" Well you look like the MISSING LINK!"
Grew up with the original 3 seasons. Though I like the Beyblade designs of MFB because they remind me of HMS. Story wise I just couldn't get into the series. Though the action scenes are great though.
Funny you made this video, my childhood friend recommended I watch this again at the start of the year. I too am a millennial so was about 10 years old when this first aired, and the first thing I realised when I watched this again was how much of a banger the soundtrack is. Like, you can only make so many songs about spinning tops and they absolutely crushed it with each song. I watched the whole of the original season and I loved every episode. So good to see you acknowledge it.
The soundtrack is SO good, I wanted to incorporate it into the video but most of the songs are copyright protected which is rare for a kids show from 20 years ago. But you know what? Good for them get that bag
I can still remember the songs Figthing Spirit (OP), which is a banger and Cheer Song (ED) after all these years. In Malaysia, we tend to keep the original Japanese OP and ED in our dub. This anime is one of the best shonen I watched when I was a kid.
I remember when Beyblade became popular when I was in elementary school, there was some sort of weird bowl shaped piece of playground equipment that just so happened to work as a natural bey stadium. All the kids would gather round during recess and have massive 5+ player brawls.
Ok the America arc was legit LEGIT. THIS MAN THREW A FOOTBALL AND LAUNCHED HIS BEY? like what???? I remember the baseball man too. I think that was my favorite arc by far.
The music was extremely good. The level of epicness(or energy) in the tournament battles was contagious. The way it appeals to children (buy a spinning top from your nearest Toys R Us on the weekend and come in to school the Monday after and flex your new toy to your classmates) was legendary. The ending arc of the original series was actually well good because it didn’t deal with death like Yugioh did but it did introduce how serious life could get(when Ray was hospitalised). It was also a great introduction to anime in general(for me at least)and inspired many to start drawing which motivates creativity.
Glad someone else really liked Max’s voice. Something about it was just really genuine, from what I remember and it always stood out to me as a kid. All four kids had enjoyable voices. Lost my mind as a kid when I watched Mean Girls and heard that one guy who talks about buttering Lindsey Lohan’s muffin, and I immediately went “THAT’S RAY!!”
Bless you for explaining its on youtube! I checked all the major streaming services like a week ago and couldnt find the OG series and was devastated 😭 my goofy ass didnt think to just search it on here
PLEASE cover everything. I recently saw beyblade going viral on tiktok and have been binging the whole series as of late! The story writing for a kid’s tv show went on to age pretty well! 🔥
this is how i always remember beyblade's seasons after i fully watched it a couple of years ago while feeling nostalgic about it season one was an amazing story with great characters who developped throughout the series season two was visually pleasing to watch with a good story but noting comparable to season 1 and 3 and then season 3 felt like the best of both worlds where it was visually pleasing to watch but it also had a really good plot again there are just some of those beyblade moments that live rent free in my mind
The 5 main Beyblade monsters: Draciel, Dragoon, Dranzer, Driger, and Strata Dragoon are based on the Four Symbols from Chinese mythology, just like Four Holy Beasts (its really five b/c Huanglongmon) from Digimon Strata Dragoon is the fifth main Bit Beast introduced in the tie-in movie between seasons 2 & 3
You're welcome, hopefully we get to see the rest of the review for the series or something in the same vein! G-revolution was peak Beyblade imo@@thedigiknow
The Beyblade resurgence has been bringing a tear to my eyes. I LOVE to see it! I rewatch Beyblade OG every year and have been rewatching Metal Fusion series again. The OSTs for OG Beyblade (Dub) is one of those things that just DONT FREAKING MISS!!!!!!!!!!! Underdog stays rent free in my head
As a kid who vaguely remembered the first beyblade series it was a miracle that they added all of it onto yt for free. I grew up watching metal fusion and burst but the OG series has the greatest season in g revolution 😎👍🔥
I am here after re-watching season 1 . I was in 8th grade when we I got completed hooked to the show. Now , I am 33 but everytime I hear the Original theme , it takes me back to the time when I used to save money to buy Beyblades or Bey-Dishes. I think still have Dranzer V somewhere in the storage. Before I get carried with reminiscence of my childhood, I just want to thank you for making this video . Let IT RIPPPP.
I remember having the beyblade book as a kid that had trivia questions and puzzles and stuff. One of them was literally name the bit beast trapped inside Chief’s computer. I was shocked to learn years later that was a dub exclusive character
This was my first anime, before I got into Pokemon and YuGiOh I was into Beyblade, my brother and I would get up at 630 every Saturday to watch it. We got up earlier to watch this show than we did to get ready for school.
Yeah!! I actually caught that part of your Akira Toriyama tribute, where you mentioned the 'Goku is the universal language' strip! Thanks for watching & commenting! :)
This is amazing! Season 1 of Beyblade was the best! Nothing can beat the original show! I love it so much, man! Thanks for covering it, bro! You're doing great! Keep it up!
I'm glad the OG series is getting some coverage. I'm shocked to hear that Dizzi was dub exclusive. No wonder she stopped talking in G-revolution. I missed her snarky comments. Anyway, I'd love to see more on this series. I'd really like to see it get as popular as the Metal saga
The greatest part for me when I revisit the OG series of Beyblade is Takao/Tyson. His character was special, I didn't like his character back then, but I realised how special he was when I went to therapy. It always easy to be a cynic like Kai, anyone can pretend to be as friendly as Max, you can read and learn to be like Kenny. Then you could be curious, expansive and open-minded as Ray. Not missing out on Hillary who joined later in V-force and stayed throughout G-Revolution. But Takao/Tyson was special. To be human enough to hold on to your friends, to be human enough to fail despite being world champion, to be able to forgive in the face of bertrayal and to never give up on your dreams. That takes courage, mental strength and emotional resilience. Man, that boy was a wise one who played the fool.
Makes for an excellent audio companion on long road trips, thanks to all the extra commentary. I’d love to gush with y’all about this series, compare the seasons (V Force is my favorite, being extra mystical), and eventually love on the G Revolution reunions from s1 characters. Fingers crossed 🤞 for more.
Man this was such a throwback, I had no idea this series was considered to be a sports anime watching it n my pre-teens at the time. Now it makes sense. Nevr owned any of the toys myself but loved the anime. Please do more.
Instant subscribe. I really like your content. Beyblades holds a special place in my heart and I can't help but rewatch it every 5 years or so (I'm in my early 30s now).
When I rewatched it the pace was the thing that stood out to me as well. I didn't even remember they went around the world and fought monsters. Crazy show.
Hell yeah - keep up the arc breakdowns. Had a similar experience and discovered the original eps on youtube, have been working my way through as well. Thanks for the vid!
One thing I really liked that wasn't mentioned was how Tyson beat that first bully by training for a day like the kendo training he hated. Extended his rip cord, got a running start, jumped into it, still had to aim, all to get that 4 times velocity on launch he needed.
It's funny you put this video out cuz I also just found out the whole series was on UA-cam and started watching it. I never saw it as a kid so it's wild experiencing it for the first time.
Dude would love to see more Beyblade content. I got into Digimon again probably a year ago and found your channel. Love the vibe of the videos man. Keep it up! 😄
Beyblade has the unique feature of it's english only insert songs actually getting better over time. By the time you hit Season 3, stuff like Rise Above the Storm and Hang On are dangerously close to being actually good.
I tried to watch some the later seasons of beyblade, they didn’t do anything for me, but there’s something special about the first season or version or whatever with Tyson and Kai. Medabots was another show from that era that cooked super hard that no one talks about now.
This will always be my favorite series of Beyblade. I love the characters, the arcs, and music. English Dub did great. I didn't know about the announcers being Dub thing but that make sense since we never saw them. Can't wait for the next arc video.
Ah, I remember back in primary school, OG Beyblade was a hit. Kids often brought their own and showed off during class intervals when our teacher had to step out for a while. We even hid in one corner after school just to play it.
While I have no problem with the 1st season dub, as the next seasons started taking themselves more seriously, the censorship becomes more noticeable. Also, when they dubbed the 3rd season, they didn’t bother keeping Dizzi in the show, so she was just gone with no explanation.
Beyblade is one of those anime that has a phenomenal soundtrack on both Sub and Dub - Dub has Rock 'n Roll, while Sub has entire moving orchestral pieces. I'd love for you to review the rest of the arcs!
Funny enough I was watching a couple of Beyblade episodes the last couple days so this was a good refresher cuz usually when I re-watch it I immediately skip to the Asia tournament Arc
Fun fact: in the latin spanish dub, Beyblade was dubbed in Venezuela by the same dubbing company that dubbed Sponge Bob. If you close your eyes, you can hear Sponge Bob hosting the tournaments, Mr. Krabs sponsoring the kids to go to tournaments and Squidward telling his Beyblade to use the Tiger Claw, among others
For me growing up and also now as an adult because i still love watching the old fanatsy animes that I grew up with and showing my kids them. My classics are, . Beyblade - S1, . Digimon - S1-2 (plus 1 movie) . Pokemon - Indigo, Orange Islands and Johto (plus 3 movies) . Dragonball Z - All arcs . Yu Gi Oh S1-5 . Card Capters - All arcs and movies
I think with Dizzi, the other reason to add it in is because of the rules and regulations about showing "game text". That's why YuGiOh cards just show a symbol on their cards btw. So by using a PC for exposition, it allows them to give the information that should be in that scene without breaking the pace too much and getting around any potential issues with showing text.
Lukas Rossi, the original singer of the 2000 Beyblade iconic theme song "Let's Beyblade!", will be doing a live performance of the song on 21st March 2024 at 9PM EST to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Beyblade. Event details can be found on our channel description
Loved this video. Would love to get more analyzing/reminiscing over other anime of this time. Especially loved all the fun facts about dub vs sub. Some other show examples: - Zoids - Gundam - YuGiOh! - Code Lyoko - Inuyasha - Yu Yu Hakusho - Xiaolin Showdown - Static Shock - Jackie Chan Adventures - Hamtaro - Zatch Bell You could also make videos on programming blocks like: - Fox Kids - Jetix - Toonami - Miguzi - Kids WB - Adult Swim
I literally just realised that the name blade breakers is probably in reference to Carlos’ blade getting shattered (imagine him watching the BBA on tv and every time he has to go through this sort of mini breakdown because he not only sees Kai but just because of the team name 😂
Beyblade was a lot of people's first Sports anime, and they don't even realize it.
Right haha!!!
That and crush gear turbo
I mean you're not wrong😂
True
Brother love lol
Beyblade, Metabots, Digimon, Pokemon and Zoids were the glory days for me. 😢❤
You spittin facts
Medabots was sick. Medabee was from the hood
Zoids was the shit and G Gundam mobile fighter all on toonami, and the original ruronin kenshin was way better than that shot they have on hulu or crunchyroll
You named all the best shows on Saturday morning
Something special
Beyblade, digimon, dragonball, yugioh, pokemon etc..we were absolutely spoiled as kids with these fantastic animated shows.
So spoiled ❤
Don't forget some others like Detective Conan, shin chan, Inuyasha and more
The way I was locked in when these shows were on was crazy 😭
Inuyasha too
Toonami in the early 2000s really pumped out the best shows, Saturday morning cartoons too
I grew up on the OG Beyblade trilogy. It's cool to see it get some more love.
Same
Same here. :)
G-revolution goes hard
@@solo-bod Yeah it did go hard. It was nice to see the White Tiger team and the "BBA All-Starz" again.
Duuuuude the first toys were brutal.
I liked them😂
YESSS FINALLY SOME LOVE FOR THE OG SERIES!!! BLADEBREAKERS FOR LIFE! LET IT RIIIIIIIIP
Let it rip dude

Agreed.
The metal fight saga is still better! The only good season of the og series is G-evolution and V-force was ok, but the first season is kind of boring literally the last 10 episodes are the only entertaining ones 😢
@@sgjoyder2890 yeah ur on crack LOL
The direction to make the Dub of Beyblade a Sport is ahead of it's time. Now with Beyblade X treated as a sport and been proven successful in Japan!
Meanwhile i used it as a flying spinning blade
Those things had metall parts
The reason why TT want beyblade become a "sports" is because TT try to copy of the success of tamiya mini4wd
@@ItsJustKayaI had one who was so fuckin heavy it made sparks whenever it hit metal. That shit almost took off my dad’s fingernail once.

The original Beyblade anime trilogy with Tyson and company was the best! Keep ‘em coming! Would love to see videos on V-Force and G-Revolution too.
G-Revolution was really good
Definitely. Kai was my favourite character in all of media for 20 years. Still is because hes such a deep and well written character.
Yesss!!!
Happily agree.
In the Philippines, it's a classic anime. When it was shown back then, all...I mean all the kids during that time play beyblade.
Indeed. We even had tournaments after school! What a time to be alive and a young child. 😊
The funniest moment in the dub is during the China arc between Tyson and Kevin:
Kevin:"You totally look like the weakest link! Weakest link, weakest link!"
Tyson: "Yeah!?" Well you look like the MISSING LINK!"
Kevin did look like a primate.
The absolute insanity of this show is legendary when kids have the four gods as super powered spinning tops.
Also, "Underdog" just slapped.
I can't believe I never realized BeyBlade was a sports anime before xD.
Boy the memories I have playing BeyBlade as a kid
"That moment you realise..."
The original intro lives in my mind rent free
Beyblade was a masterpiece
Millennials definitely grew up on the OG 3 seasons 😂 I could care less about the Beyblade series after those 3 seasons lol
Facts
I said this when it came out. Why do it. The original wrapped up perfectly. Didnt need new characters and a new gimmick.
Facts all these kids say ginka is the goat. They don’t know about our boy Tyson

The English dub theme song absolutely rocks.

Let's keep this spinning.
It’s iconic
Picking up speed, running out of time,
Going head to head, it's a way of life.

My favourite sports anime, to this day me and my friends still make reference to Beyblade, such a classic series!

This anime, along with Yugioh, Digimon and Pokemon, was such an integral part of my childhood!
This was my childhood. I was a toddler when i watch this. And my cousin used to own a beyblade toy when this show aired on my country.
Madhouse did a great job in this season
And Takehito Koyasu was crazy in this season as well
This is amazing! Season 1 of Beyblade was the best! Nothing can beat the original show! I love it so much, man! Thanks for covering it, bro! You're doing great! Keep it up!
This Beyblade > New Beyblade
agreed The Beyblade shows after the original trilogy sucked.

Possibly! Good theory
What a blast from the past. This anime brings me so many memories. Beyblading with my cousin and at school was awesome!
Lukas Rossi, the original singer of the 2000 Beyblade iconic theme song "Let's Beyblade!", will be doing a live performance of the song on 21st March 2024 at 9PM EST to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Beyblade. Event details can be found on our channel description

I literally just realised that the name blade breakers is probably in reference to Carlos’ blade getting shattered (imagine him watching the BBA on tv and every time he has to go through this sort of mini breakdown because he not only sees Kai but just because of the team name 😂
haha omg
