First of all, my respect for Toriyama Sensai. His is the kind of legacy to leave behind!🥲 I was a relative latecomer to the Saga of Goku; I only started Dragon Ball when I started college, around 13 years ago. Beyblade was my first anime ever, instilling in me a love for the medium. It influenced me and my friends a lot back when we were twerps in school uniform. We used to make our own blades out of soda bottle caps, and oh boy, did we have some fans amongst our schoolmates! Sometimes, our competitors used to bring store bought blades, and in our battle, they used to just get demolished on contact, even if we never intended that to happen. I only ever bought one pair of blades, from the HMS system. Beauties! Even if you don't have the patience to sit through V-Force, please please continue this tale, and pick up with G-Revolution! Underdog and Rise Above the Storm still give me goosebumps! Forgive me for the long tirade; I love to talk about my personal story with Beyblade every chance I get.🙂
The og bay blade was so good. Idk if the later bayblade series were bad or I was a kid while the og was aired. But I couldn’t t get into any new one at all. They all seem too childish.
Looking forward to your breakdown of the Europe Arc. I remember that being absolutely batshit even as a 9 year old watching it - cursed zombie bladers, genetically engineered supersoldiers, plans for world domination - it all kicks off. Children's toys never had such high stakes!
7:45 To be fair, Max does beat the strongest team member in the next arc while Ray is the one who loses. When it comes to the Bladebreakers, Max or Ray usually trade places when it comes to losing to hype up an opponent and team. Also, the original Beyblade is super goated and vastly underrated. So many storylines that are actually legit good there. G-Revolution has an awesome arc for Tyson going through athlete anxiety.
Man I remember these characters. I think the OG season had SUCH cool mono colored bit beasts. When I randomly think about OG Beyblade I remember my childhood home. My mum used to have the four auspicious chinese beasts in picture frames across the house. One day I remembered those picture frames and together that the main casts bit beasts were actually one and the same. Explains why I was fascinated with those pictures! 🖼️
When I want to joke, I'll say this arc is all of Ray's boyfriends and girlfriends Fighting for Ray's hand in holy wifue-mony. Which is true. But what's also true is enjoyable it is. I remember my first time watching it, the absolute bond between these kids. The lengths they go for each other. To put another human being on your back and climb the side of mountain. That's a bond. This arc is such a drama. When I think back to this show ten years after watching it for the first time, this is one of the moments I remember. Sometimes it's to laugh at the bannanas situation, and somes it's to remember that genuine feeling. Also, Kevin in an absolute menace. Bless this tiny child. I am grounding him for his crimes.
Well of course. Ray is the first member of the blade breakers that actually have straight pairings. Every subsequent season he had romance with someone on the enemy team.
@@Lightspeeds Ray plays more than Beyblade, guys. He plays the whole world field. I remember the first time I realized his actor was in Mean Girls asking if girls would like their muffins buttered, and I was horrified of the voice of my boy saying such awful things. But ten years later I'm like "you know what, legit"
The Asia arc is really so cool. It gives us a little bit more on the 'mystical' or magical vibes of bitbeasts, without actually going into it. Just the fact that the village some still has these modern 'toys', but is still presented as the 'traditional secret martial village' and they pull it off perfectly. I think Next Arc is when Max gets to shine? Max was one of my favourite characters (to be fair, most of the Blade Breakers were XD) but it was always sad to see him be the 'This is serious!' fall man.
The Asia arc has always been a favorite of mine. From the beginning of the Bladebreakers becoming a real team, to Ray's storyline, it is great stuff! And yes, Kai definitely has the funniest lines of the show!
They main reason why I love the og beyblade it beside the battle the character building and life lessons was so good it honestly made you care alot more about these characters compared to modern day anime imo
Favorite arc from first season has to be the European one. It felt like the first time the team was totally overwhelmed, to the point where even their legendary bit beasts were dwarfed in comparison to the mythical beasts introduced. Haven’t watched it in forever but I remember the salamander fight being a fun watch. Keep them coming and I’ll keep watching, your videos are great.
I hadn't seen this show since it originally aired either, but the last video prompted me to go back and take a look. And yeah, I was kind of thrown at how nuanced and interesting the dynamics were in this arc. The Ray/Mariah and Ray/Lee developments are great of course. I also appreciated how Ray never really denies nor apologizes for leaving his village and his friends; it showed conviction in his tough decision, even if that conviction wavered a little when it came to Mariah. Kevin's also an underrated presence imo: just a comically evil little shitlord who both establishes the White Tigers as figures you want the heroes to overcome, and as a means to show that Mariah and Lee aren't just bad guys, since they very clearly rebuke Kevin for his BS. I'm up to the American arc as well, and I'm quite enjoying that one so far, too. Can't wait to see what happens next!
Mariah was prolly the first anime crush I can remember I had for a character of an anime I barely ever watched. Lmao Also, this is the anime where all of the side characters look like they could be main characters as well.
Man one thing I absolutely love about beyblade is how they travel around the world, each arc always introduces a new and interesting location and culture it's just so fun to see the gang travel around the world.
Mayber these were the episodes I saw, without context, I totally can see how I would assume Ray was the main character and Kai was his rival. Tyson had his moment, but the finals went to Ray, Ray had all the major emotional clashes in this arc, and his design is far more distinctive compared to Tyson for a kid to latch onto. It was hard watching any show with a linear storyline on cable tv back in the day when the episodes weren't consistently airing in order. I know that was why I loved Pokemon the most back in the day, because of how episodic it was so I could get the full experience unlike it's contemporaries.
I remember watching Beyblade all the time as a kid. I've been a sports anime fan, but OG Beyblade is the 1 exception to that for me. Kai & Dranzer were always my 2 favorites in the show. I probably still have a Dranzer Beyblade kicking around somewhere. My favorite arc for this season would be the last 1. It brought everything together perfectly, & ended with a real bang. Tyson's last match was the perfect way to cap off such an amazing show. Along with a great match involving Kai that really shown how much he had grown from being the leader of the Blade Sharks in the beginning. Plus the 1 moment with Dragoon that we wouldn't "see" again til the movie was 1 people shouldn't forget about. Can't wait to see may reviews on this classic.
Back when the series was new, I wasn't super into until the art style change in V-Force and then especially G-Revolution. But when i rewatched the original when i was maybe 17-18, there's a lot to like story wise in the original series!
The match between Ray and Mariah was one of my favourite of the whole show and this arc cemented him as my favourite character from the original series.
The pizza part really is like a jelly donut, or even worse. Originally, Tyson (Takao) just yells that he's all fired up/ excited about the whole thing.
when lee battles tyson in round 2 and he tells him "you like sand? then ill jus have to bury you in it" hit crazy to young me i felt the anger in his voice without even knowing
Such nostalgia. Every Sunday and Saturday morning from 8 to 10 I used to watch Bayblade, Pokémon, Digimon, Power Rangers, TMNT, Transformers, yugioh, captain planet, He-Man, Hercule, xena and Andromeda.
I just finished this video and watched the first part, beyblade was my favourite show when i was a child, i had vhs but at a certain point my parents didn't buy all the series so i had to stop and watching the same episodes in loop till some years ago i watched the whole 1st series and it was amazing, i don't know if is the nostalgia effect but this show is sick i really love it, good videos btw waiting for the next one :)
I had two VHSs of Beyblade growing up. One covered from the Max vs Kai battle to the Kai vs Tyson battle; while the other covered the beginning of the Asia tournament up until Ray loses Drigger. I remember how I felt shattered that Ray lost his Bit Beast, that cliffhanger only being resolved more than a decade later when I decided to rewatch the OG series.
Please do not stop making these videos. I've already watched this series so many times I own the first three series on DVD V Force and Revolution on DVD and being 30 years old I will still continue to watch this show🎉
So, is Ray actually Chinese in the same way that (I think?) Kai is actually Russian? If so, you've got a pretty diverse cast of kids on this team. Points laden on for representation. This arc is GREAT, and the fact that it's all Ray is even better, because, as you'll notice, every arc kind of centers around one of the Blade Breakers, other than Tyson, who acts as the team glue, but Ray is my favourite next to Kai. The Russia arc is my favourite because it's Kai's arc. Also, yes, more of this series, please! 😀
Really appreciate you reviewing the series man. Big fan of the channel and even more so now with this content. Ray and Driger are my guys! Driger was my first beyblade growing up.
This is off topic but this used to bother me as a kid. I always find it jarring that the Asian charaters were given English names despite not being from a English speaking region. Like even as a kid i was confused by the name choices. Other than that, the nostalgia from this show is measurable
In hindi dub of this arc , the creators made a love story out of ray v/s marayah battle . I shipped them hard before even knowing what it is . They gave reason that Drigger and marayah's bigbeast are playing a role in making Ray and maraya realise their feelings and that made sense to me as both of them were smiling ,laughing and blushing while fighting. Lee even blamed Ray for 'suduceing' maraya ( yeah they did not name it like that but meaning is thr same , basically lee was blameing Ray for every thing) But yeah i liked their bond
great video I really feel like the asia arc is when the series starts getting its groove and becoming really great it only keeps gettin better as it goes
I rewatched from vforce and saw g revolution a few years ago. But haven't seen og beyblade since I was a kid. Started Rewatching og beyblade thanks to your first video. Can't wait to keep going through this series
Loved every second of this video, this has always been my favourite arc and the way they started to expand the Beyblade universe across different tournaments as well as different backstories of each member of bladebreakers - amazing work!
Mate, holy shit. This and the previous video blew my mind. I had completely forgot this series, but the sec you spoke about the arc it instantly came back to me. Such pure nostalgia! Thank you for this! Really, this was solid quality content you just put out. You are very talented, and ought to be proud!
It was my favourite arc too, Ray is still my favorite character. He had the best battles and has been proven to be the most naturally skilled blader out of all the blade breakers. Ray vs Bryan, Ray vs Kai, and Ray vs Crusher were my favorite characters.
Great video, i enjoyed your take on a show i loved dearly as a child and its amazing to know that these moments and characters had such an impact on others too. This arc was something special back then and still is today. It has such raw emotions and personal stakes that it keeps your attention all the way from beginning to end. Ray and lees battle is legendary and one of the all time best bayblade matches to ever do it. and the epic moment when ray overpowered lees black lightning was satisfying as a kid as ray showed his growth.
Oh yes Mariah is best girl hahaha. Kai was defo reluctant to be there but i think deep down he cared for them. Watching this is making me want to watch the episodes all over again haha. Subbed so i can keep up with these.
Ny favourite arc was the Europe arc (don't really remember what that's called) the boys really had to help each other the most to up their level against champions of Europe. Their bit beast was so large and strong that it could quash their bit beasts. It taught a lessons to the Majestics how important teamwork was in this tournament and it shattered their ego.
Bro you gotta continue this series. Your analysis and recap is well thought out and engaging. I genuinely stopped what I was doing to watch this "episode".
Taison carrying Ray on his back was one of my favourite moments from the whole series, partly because, if I remember correctly, Taison repeated Ray's own words back to him when he said, "Quit your belly-aching," or something like that.
More beyblade content is always appreciated and will have my views. As for the question on favourite arcs, it would have to be either the European tour, or the first half of G-Revolution. Also seeing people include music by Good Kids is always going to put a smile on my face.
this is the tournament that stick the most to me when I was little, I recently got into collecting beyblades and it discover Mariah's Beyblade, Galux, was never release as a stock combo, the war linx balde has the same shape a the war lion bey so the closer you could get to have a Galux was combining the war lion war blade with the 8 wide disc from dragoon s, the sping gear from drigger s and the ball base from the original draciel, and even though galux later got stickers it would be impossible to have color accurate galux.
What's funny about Max being the one to always lose to show the opponents power is that his beyblade was the best one irl if you kept them stock. I had like three defense rings and was like a spinning brick that could take anything the others could throw at it while the other beyblade would eventually hit it so many times they stopped spinning. Edit to add, what i like to do was take the attack ring from Dragoon and replace the middle ring with it. I also found if you didnt have the plastic bit beast piece in, you could cram an extra ring on so I had a Dragoon attack ring and still had three defense rings.
I cannot wait until you cover the entire series... then season 2, and season 3. Those were peak childhood, i almost had my villain arc just to try get myself a beyblade. That's how good it was.
I really hope you will finish atleast the first season with your reviews, I really enjoy going down memory lane for a show I haven't watched in almost 20 years. Keep it up!
3:23 Except Kai wasn’t pretending. His character is definitely funny to me as an adult but at the same time I understand and actually connect with him. Ray and Kai were always my favorite characters…
Tyson's no friends burn to Kevin STILL lives rent free in my head! The delivery alongside that song playing was PERFECT. Tyson's disgust with that little punk was so in there. And he still got off easy for the crap he pulled throughout that arc.
Next Arc is my favourite. Max's journey and struggle always make me happy. He's what made me love beyblade from the first time I saw him beat Tyson just by toughing it out to when he outsmarts Kai and takes a round off of him he's always using his head instead of raw power.
My favourite part of the OG series is definitely the final arc/Black Dranzer arc - especially Ray's final battle! I especially got into it because the tv channel I watched Beyblade on had a continuity announcer who would preface every episode with some small commentary, and I remember watching the last episode and getting extra hyped because the announcer lead in with "and now, the last episode of Beyblade! Will Tyson win against Tala?" Or something similar to that. Just 2000s things
I know but I'm obviously talking about the the fact that this dub is known to be Canadian, and in that moment they proudly don't even try to hide it. Just an observation.
This arc made ray my second favorite character after my goat Kia ray here was the mv and you can’t change my mind Also luckily next arc is max’s and I can’t wait for it
Another thing to I guess maybe add about Kai is that Kai isn't actually a dick in the original Japanese. He is just very indifferent to the whole team. I don't remembering the restaurant scene but the scene in the room where he is like i didn't come here to be a babysitter is actually in the Japanese to the effect of how are you guys not scared when we're going against the world to which Tyson says that they won in the japan tournament and now they'll do the same everywhere something like that to which Kai is like I hope you're right I don't remember it exactly cause it has been time but that's actually how that scene went. And in the scene where ray loses driger Kai in the English version says that ray is the only one he respects in bladebreakers that's also not what he said in Japanese he just says white tiger left you because you didn't pay attention. Another one is in the next arc where Kai says something when the whole crew is like messing around the head quarters of ppb all stars where he says in the English version that he shouldn't have left the team alone implying he thinks that they're stupid but in the Japanese version he wants to check out the place to gain more information about the bit beasts that ppb all star have because he wants to report that to his grandpa he is a lot more directly said to be involved with his grandpa's plan in the japanese even implying that they have regular contact considering that he recieved a package of Beyblade material from his grandpa's company in the episode where there's the fight at Eiffel tower with the shadow bladers(?). Also in the japanese version, driger, dranzer, dragoon and draciel are actually the name of the Beyblade whereas the name of the spirit are suzaku, seiryu, byakko and genbu which are Japanese mythological beast.
Dang i wish i can watch the japanese sub. Makes sense that jai wanted to scope out the ppb facilities and report back to his grandfather. Also, the english dub severely amped kai's douchebag levels lol poor guy. Rei had that treatment too, to a degree
OG Beyblade is the best I remember waking up every school morning washing this before I go on a school bus and then they don't want to come on Saturday mornings I was happy Kai is always going to be my favorite character because he's awesome and he's the goat but Tyson's my second favorite but I always found it funny when later on down the road no one couldn't see the bit Beast any more like what that does not make no sense because everyone saw the bit beasts all of a sudden no one can see them unless they believe in them I'm like are you serious I just found that hilarious and it never made any sense to me why they did that
It's so cool to see a person reviewing this original show! I'm rewatching right now as well, so I can't wait for the review of the American arc as well!
Great review man., really enjoyed hearing your thoughts on this part of the show. This is my favourite arc and most of my memories of the story and characters were from this portion of the show. The setting, Ray's backstory with his old team, the kick-ass battles and character progression... Incredible.
Huh. So this is where my love of catgirls started. Mystery solved Edit: After apologizing for calling him Izzy in the last one you do it again here at 8:55 xD
The Asian Tournament ark is still my favorite ark of the original Beyblade series. The match between Ray and Lee was epic. A closeup of Lee's eye when he angrily growls at Tyson was pretty scary.
I wanted to be Ray so bad when I was a kid, driger was my first & fave blade too. I found Kenny kinda annoying though and less important compared to Izzy who I always felt was the unsung-MVP in digimon, and a much more competent & complex character. Would be nice to see you continue on into vforce and maybe even G-Rev!
the White Tigers were so awesome. and i was observing Mariah too much, if you know what i mean 👀👀👀👀 (hey i was pre-teen back then, cut me some slack 😝 )
Thanks!! Yeah, my ideal vid is 8-9 minutes just given how much free time I have to write, record and edit. 13 minutes was already pushing it haha but I understand there are longer anime arc reviews on UA-cam (TotallyNotMark for instance) that people love. I just don't have that in me at this moment, unfortunately!
Thank you for everything, Akira Toriyama.

Great review👍🏻 And I agree with Kai's lines being funny😂 Now I wanna rewatch Beyblade.
Really appreciate you reviewing the series man. Big fan of the channel and even more so now with this content. Ray and Driger are my guys! Driger was my first beyblade growing up.
I never remembered shit from this series except that I loved it obsessively as a kid so its great to go back and see why it rocked so hard
Lee even blamed Ray for 'suduceing' maraya ( yeah they did not name it like that but meaning is thr same , basically lee was blameing Ray for every thing)
But yeah i liked their bond
great video I really feel like the asia arc is when the series starts getting its groove and becoming really great it only keeps gettin better as it goes
I rewatched from vforce and saw g revolution a few years ago. But haven't seen og beyblade since I was a kid. Started Rewatching og beyblade thanks to your first video. Can't wait to keep going through this series
Commenting to ask you to keep up the quality beyblade content ❤
Loved every second of this video, this has always been my favourite arc and the way they started to expand the Beyblade universe across different tournaments as well as different backstories of each member of bladebreakers - amazing work!
Mate, holy shit. This and the previous video blew my mind. I had completely forgot this series, but the sec you spoke about the arc it instantly came back to me. Such pure nostalgia! Thank you for this! Really, this was solid quality content you just put out. You are very talented, and ought to be proud!
Nice! So glad the video connected with you. It's been a trip for me to rewatch the show AND to read everyone else's thoughts and memories!
It was my favourite arc too, Ray is still my favorite character. He had the best battles and has been proven to be the most naturally skilled blader out of all the blade breakers. Ray vs Bryan, Ray vs Kai, and Ray vs Crusher were my favorite characters.
this is honestly one of my favourite arcs! and thanks for reminding me about the lessons and the quotes. i almost forgot how insane it was
Cheers! I absolutely forgot the quotes and lessons -- just thought it was a silly show I liked because kid me liked the toys. Nope, this series ruled.
real nice analysis bro. subbed. RIP TORIYAMA
I stan Ray I loved his arc in the Asia arc
Ny favourite arc was the Europe arc (don't really remember what that's called) the boys really had to help each other the most to up their level against champions of Europe. Their bit beast was so large and strong that it could quash their bit beasts. It taught a lessons to the Majestics how important teamwork was in this tournament and it shattered their ego.
Subbed. Memories I totally forgot about while watching this. I use to be super into beyblades when I was a kid
My favorite arc because Rey is my favorite 🤍🐅🔥
These matches and his fight against Crusher are amazing (even if Ray should’ve won but I digress)
His fight against Bryan might be my favorite Ray fight. It is definetly the most raw out of all of his fights!
The white tigers were my favorite team. Rei always had that fit on. OG beyblade was my childhood man.
Great tribute at the end.
Bro you gotta continue this series. Your analysis and recap is well thought out and engaging. I genuinely stopped what I was doing to watch this "episode".
I appreciate that!! Part 3 is 100% coming but probably need another two weeks, thanks!
This is such a nostalgia trip, keep at it
Great arc! I can't wait to see you cover the whole series! It goes absolutely nuts!
this is the tournament that stick the most to me when I was little, I recently got into collecting beyblades and it discover Mariah's Beyblade, Galux, was never release as a stock combo, the war linx balde has the same shape a the war lion bey so the closer you could get to have a Galux was combining the war lion war blade with the 8 wide disc from dragoon s, the sping gear from drigger s and the ball base from the original draciel, and even though galux later got stickers it would be impossible to have color accurate galux.
Very Nostalgic Thanks
This is my favorite arc because it's so Ray focused. He was always my favorite as a kid. And Driger was my favorite beyblade in my collection. ❤
I really hope you will finish atleast the first season with your reviews, I really enjoy going down memory lane for a show I haven't watched in almost 20 years. Keep it up!

Except Kai wasn’t pretending.
I can't wait to get there in my rewatch!
@@thedigiknow not gonna spoil anything, but enjoy the ride!!
31 now and I loved this season
Not just Canada uses the Metric system, Japan and China also use it. In fact 195/198 other countries use Metric.
I know but I'm obviously talking about the the fact that this dub is known to be Canadian, and in that moment they proudly don't even try to hide it. Just an observation.
This arc made ray my second favorite character after my goat Kia ray here was the mv and you can’t change my mind
Also luckily next arc is max’s and I can’t wait for it
Really enjoying the videos, I hope you finish the first season as well as continue on to Vforce and GRevolution 👍
Subbed specifically because of this series. You are reminding me of why I loved this series and why it’s breakneck pace was so damned good.
Im happy for the branching of new topics, I don't comment much but still keep it up.
Thank you that means a lot!
It's crazy how this anime was so deep lol.
Incredible.
Thank you for reminding me of this gem of a show.
I haven’t thought about beyblades in years!! You’re making me want to rewatch it.
Huh. So this is where my love of catgirls started. Mystery solved
Edit: After apologizing for calling him Izzy in the last one you do it again here at 8:55
xD
🤨
These videos are awesome keep them up going back on the nostalgia journey with you beyblade still so entertaining after all these years
The Asian Tournament ark is still my favorite ark of the original Beyblade series.
Would be nice to see you continue on into vforce and maybe even G-Rev!
the White Tigers were so awesome.
and i was observing Mariah too much, if you know what i mean 👀👀👀👀
(hey i was pre-teen back then, cut me some slack 😝 )
Loving the videos. Wish they were a little longer but understand that's a lot more work on your end
@thedigiknow if it aint broke dont fix it. Not a bad problem to have if someone wishes they had more of what you make.
I used to watch this show as a kid, and I still love it! It is nice watching you review the series, keep going 👍🏼
Ah yes, the time before Lee became a socially awkward cheerleader for Ray.
Yeah after that Arc he just felt like a cuck the whole series
His hero-worship spoiled my perception of him, he was so cool during season 1 then he was an ass-kisser in season 3 😭😭
Very awesome way to cover the stories. I'll be working on covering the never released beys. Like the one covered in wool. Also crazy launchers.
Man i remember watching this as a kid. Beyblade and Medabots are two series i sort of forgot about over the years. I need to do a rewatch too.
