- It's been a while since I've watched a life changing sports anime and experienced the feelings that come with it. In my search for that beautiful feeling, I stumbled across Ace of The Diamond, an anime that not many people talk about, but one that is absolutely phenomenal. In this video, I talk about why this anime works so well, from its story to its characters. If you've never heard of this show before, Ace of The Diamond is an anime that every sports anime fan should experience.

I CAN'T BELIEVE I SAW ACE OF DIAMOND HERE 😭😭😭 NOBODY KNOWS ITS EXISTENCE IT SEEMS. IT'S UNPARALLELED WITH HOW CLOSE IT IS TO REALITY BECAUSE ITS SO GRADUAL, THE CHARACTERS, THE STORYLINE, THE PACING, THE UPS AND DOWNS, THE UNEXPECTED, THE HEARTBREAKS, THE CHILLS. AOD IS A DIAMOND IN SPORTS ANIME but just like a diamond, it's hidden. BUT IT SHOULD BE OUT IN THE OPEN FOR EVERYONE TO WITNESS ITS BEAUTY

This is the first sports anime where I was genuinely emotionally destroyed after the team lost. This will always be one of the best shows in my heart, unironically too.

This series does NOT get enough love. The characters are AMAZING and I love the development that everyone gets. Plus Act II has the best sports match I have ever read (unfortunately not in the anime). Miyuki Kazuya is definitely one of the most unique characters I've ever met in anime and Sawamura Eijun, despite being a loud bright character, is still very mature and stoic when it counts
This guy is just so mature that he succeed to be the captain, catcher, pitching staff leader, cleanup in less than 2-3 months. Not gonna lie it has been more difficult for Miyuki to become a good captain than Yuki with the personalities of Sawamura ( saying the right things) Furuya ( calm him down) Zono (not accepting fully him) and perform to be the example for everyone else is so hard.

True. I watched it almost every time I finished another new anime. I definitely love Haikyu!! but still Daiya no Ace for me is the best sports anime.
@@lailanieruiz96 FR, Watched Ace of Diamond before Haikyuu and although Haikyuu is one of the greatest sports anime there is, I can't put AOD behind it.
The only thing that gets me sad is the subpar animation of AOD. If it has the same level of animation like Haikyuu, gaddeym every pitch would've been a blast.
But wait... the manga ended? Did it atleast end the whole story decently? I need answers now😂😂

@@patriiiiiii The chapters for act 3 are already released actually. Atleast up to the point Seido faced Ichidai in the summer again (That's the last news I saw ever since cause I got spoiled then unfollowed every AOD FB page).
Can't remember when exactly but I also read something about the manga ending(?) I still don't wanna believe it, but I really do hope it's just a hiatus or something.
diamond no ace is one of my favorites 10/10
I just can't express into words on how much I love this goddamn anime. It's also because of this that I realized Koshien Stadium is a real place in Japan, meaning this anime even incorporated real places into their art and the events that happen in it. The character developments, rivalries, and even how each pitch works for every pitcher all seem realistic, something that I don't find in other animes such as Kuroko no Basket (phantom shots, invisible drives and all that stuff that are only fictional. I'm also not saying I hate this anime). Diamond no Ace is an anime that I truly treasure, and if you have patience and time, please watch this anime and don't stop even in the midst of their despair and losses. I can guarantee you that it will all be worth it in the end.
The moment coach cried in season 2, was the absolute peak. Greatest coach in anime history ,even better than the great Ukai. Greatness

I’ve watched Ace of Diamond 4 times in my life and read the manga 3 times and it’s never enough, each time I rediscover something new and I’m grateful to anyone covering this series. It has teached me so much about fundings, practicing and becoming who you want to be by the every day actions. Ace of Diamond is such an amazing anime. I discovered it only recently and I love it so much! As you said the journey of Sawamura is so realistic and inspiring. I was hyped every time he improved and surprised his teammates or opponents. The other characters are also amazing, Miyuki Kazuya is my favorite. I really hope more people will watch it and experience its greatness!

For me Diamond no Ace is the second best sports anime of all time. I absolutely love how slow the progress is and how many characters are important. It's so realistic when it comes to the amount of struggle athletes face. If only I could see this anime for the first time again....Also I am so sad that the story never got to be finished, as the writer had to stop due to health issues etc.
Oh and Harsh Reviews? Once again, you are killing it! I like your production and editing so so so much. I could listen to you all day, because your voice is so great for storytelling
I feel like baseball animes do struggle to make every member of the team interesting (similar as football) because theres 9 people on the field+ bench for each team. making all of those characters interesting and nuanced at once is a tough task. most baseball animes ive seen focus on the main battery and maybe a couple in fielders. However, in AOD everyone is equally important, driven and interesting. and that is a HUGE achievement.
the fact that you even have full rival teams like inashiro and yakushi that get a similar treatment to that of seido is amazing as well. it truly is my favorite sports anime even though i love haikyuu and ao ashi and enjoyed blue lock and KNB a lot.
I'm surprised so many people have seen Daiya no Ace. It's one of the best sports animes that's not discussed at all. I'm a game dev and I've always wanted to make a japanese high school anime sports game inspired from this show. Whether the gameplay is from a pitcher's perspective from their first to third year, or you're a team manager that has to train/manage all the various players throughout several school years.
I can't even understand how Daiya is so underrated. Its my all-time favorite sports and I've rewatched it more times than any other sports anime. This is coming from someone who eats sports animes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sports is my favorite genre too. The character development in this anime is literally the best, its so well written. I love every character, they all make me cry. I can't explain it, but Daiya has something that some other animes don't. It amazes me how it has such well-pronounced character depth for a sports anime, the characters all revolve around baseball but the characterization feels..... beyond baseball. 10/10 anime in my humble opinion. Also, I didn't expect to love Furuya as much as I do, I think his character arc is up there, at the top. Its so gooood.
Sports Anime/Manga has to be the genre with the most hidden gems from Major to Capeta the amount of unknown masterpieces is shocking I've easily gone through close to 100 of these stories and I'm still baffled every time I find a new story that joins the greats
I really liked the form of this one. More like a review, out of spoilers, not giving a lot information, but still you managed to express your experience, your feelings and what this anime got you through. Life can get messy, so it's really nice to see you back on it after a long time.

all the characters are likable and it does not paint anyone as a villain or a character that is evil at the core or something like that and that is very beautiful. It is about people playing a sport that they like and dedicate their high school years to playing with there teammates

@@methuz2304daiya's manga didn't even finish until a couple years ago. The anime had basically caught up to the manga when it released. Also, the author quit because he couldn't keep up with the weekly upload schedule
Welcome to the fandom! I’ve only recently started getting into anime consistently in the last couple of years but Daiya no Ace has been my very favorite anime for far longer. I’ve watched it in its entirety at least three times and go back to it when I need to rest and recharge. Wonderful characters, technically accurate, and supposed to be the most accurate depiction of Japanese high school baseball ever made. Don’t forget to read that manga too!

Many people don’t understand how amazing Ace of the Diamond is. I truly believe it has the best character development of any sports anime from the physical and mental standpoint. The drama is never outside of the game of baseball but it’s still so captivating seeing these young men put everything on the line for their dreams. Eijun is a next level protagonists and Furuya is one of the greatest rivals ever imo. Furuya became hated by the fandom because he is such a huge obstacle for Eijun but that’s what makes the journey that much greater. Eijun never complained and even if he did hesitate he never stopped moving forward. Truly a special series and my personal favorite sports anime.

As you said it’s the best anime and it’s kinda sad no one talks about it, at least out of Japan.
My favorite character a part from Eijun is Chris senpai! He was a genius on his own who was able to secure a contract from his 2nd year in high school before his injury. He also had a far greater impact on Eijun’s journey that what you show in the video. Love him and looking forward to their reunion with Eijun as ace!

It showcased the journey of many different characters unlike other sports anime which solely focused on the protagonist only. This anime focuses on the journey rather than the end goal. Great to see a video about Ace of Diamond. I stumbled across the anime by pure accident an while having no knowledge of baseball i absolutely loved it. Like you said in your video, it's not about one guy, it's about the whole team, all the characters and also the opposing teams ans players. Everytime i watches some episodes i was infused with new motivation to pursue some team-sport i quit a long time ago. Great Video.
My favourite sport manga/anime without doubt. At the time didn't even know anything about this sport, but fell in love with baseball and this amazing story. 10/10 for me.

Completely agree, this is THE BEST sports anime and an absolute MASTERPIECE!
- The best team
- The best coach
- The best antagonists
And most importantly, it makes you feel like there are REAL stakes involved, something that isn't nearly as prominent in every other sports anime I've seen. In Diamond no Ace, when the team loses a match, the consequences are SEVERE. So severe at times, that you'd initially think it will ruin the story, but it doesn't. Instead it just becomes better and better. Anybody who has watched or read it knows exactly what I mean. I have never cried so many tears of both devastating sadness and sheer joy in a sports anime....and perhaps even in any anime.
What timing, I recently picked up ace no diamond up again after I had to drop it due to time constraints because of school, and I’ve been binging it for 3 days straight, it’s great and I love it
Glad I was recommended this video, ace of diamond is in my top 10 anime. I was never really a fan of baseball but this show did such a great job with the pacing and the characters rivalry it had me invested, they turned something I thought was a boring sport into a fun exciting game. Eijun character development is the best and I hope kodansha releases a English print it’s been years lol

The sawamura yips arc still traumarized me
AOD is actually my fav sport anime. I watch it because I was playing baseball during elem days so I understand its rules. I even recommend it to my friends who watch anime however one problem they face which lead them dropping this anime is because they don't know how baseball works. Unlike Anime like haikyuu where almost everyone knows how to play since it is very recommended in school PE. Since 2019 It is my school ritual to watch AOD from S1-S3 one week before new sem start (i watch this 2-3 times a year). Thats how I'am obsess with this show that I even ready the manga only to know it was also stop. I really don't understand why this is not getting the hype it deserved the STORYLINE, the LESSONS, the CHARACTERS, the COMPETITION and the ART are all top notch. Even with 1% chance I am still hoping they will continue this anime.

This is my favorite sports anime and I didn't even know the littlest thing about baseball before going into this anime. Admittedly it was fun to learn some baseball things, but the character development, the sound tracks, and the Inashiro match HOLY.

Watched this show while I was out of my baseball and show choir seasons for the year due to back injury. Haven't cried as hard as this show made me in a long time. It just gets to the root of what having drive is all about. No specific spoilers, but I watched multiple characters working their way through something similar to what I was going through and the interpretations were simply spot on. I had so much passion at the time, but no way to let it out while I was laid up, and this show was truly my outlet. Check it out if you like sport anime. Don't let early on Eijun turn you away. He annoyed most of us at first. You will love him in no time.

This anime has always been my favourite " ACE OF DIOMOND " it always inspired me how hard he works for his goal not just him but people around him it explains to me that having positive people around you will make you to be positive and think about present

Never been much of a baseball fan but i recently watched and finished this series. I must say I absolutely love it all, the characters are all amazing. The pacing is perfect and the matches sawamura i such a great MC

Oy finally! There's an episode of this that always keep me sane everytime I'm down bad low and is on a verge of giving up. I don't remember episode numbers will but it's about him doing a very good job out of nowhere and people got the wrong idea of why sawamura (mc) was mad thinking it's their fault but he was blaming himself for not being good enough. I was like... Damn I need to check myself out everytime I watch that episode 😊

The characters were truly amazing. My favourites were Miyuki and Yuki Tetsuya
The storyline was great and unpredictable, peacing was even better. The show was exciting, filled with emotions, and pure joy to watch.
Definitely my third favourite sport anime after Hajime and Haikyuu, Ao ashi is creeping to be the best, tho love the manga.
