I ran into Mr. Voss on the street 2 weeks ago. I stammered a little bit but thanked him for his videos and how they helped me with my job search. He said you're welcome and was very nice and I made sure to let him get back to his day. Really nice guy.
Ya know I completely respect what you did there. At the same time may I respectfully propose you may very well never see him again and another day of life is not guaranteed.. so If you wanted to what do you have to lose by going "Hey Chris if you got a bit can I buy you a coffee and pick your brain a bit." All of this is a moot point if you had no interest in doing so of course.

Dr. Peterson, one of the wisest things my father ever said to me when I was a young teenager was if you can only get what you want by telling a lie, then you are not smart enough to get it by telling the truth. Almost five decades later, it still resonates with me. I am able to identify many of those people who are not intelligent enough to know those who can see right through their nonsense, especially in a business or social situation. Generally, truth is very linear. Deception is fraught with holes and jumps around from conclusion to conclusion without a clear or proper proposition or premise.
Never Split the Difference is hands down the best, most practical book for self-development I've read. I've used the tactics in the book to negotiate higher level positions and increased my salary by 30% in 4 years.
I used Voss' book to win a five-figure negotiation with my former employer's lawyer. I was 22, anti-confrontational, and had zero experience with legal negotiations. I easily walked all over a professional lawyer and won 98% of the money I was owed without ever having to go to court and it only took two phone conversations. The government employee assigned to my case said she had never seen anyone get more than 15% in cases like mine. It was entirely thanks to Voss' book.
His masterclass was probably the best one I’ve ever seen on the platform. His techniques helped me negotiate a wage at the very highest for my position working in a pizza shop over the summer. The masterclass subscription payed for itself!
Hey, Can you elaborate on what exactly did you do? I took his course but I found out that, for example, mirroring did not worked for me. As a meter of fact, I noticed Voss tried to do it with “perspicacity?” At 23:17 and it seems that it does not “worked” as expected.
Sounds like it helped you make your way to the top in a really tough and competitive arena. You were probably competing with 2 other high school students who would rather be at home gaming. This is the kind of case study that Voss should include in his marketing materials.
@@citytrees1752 he’s just stating that something positive happened to him as a result of reading the book. No need to get all cynical and sarcastic about it.
I'm deep into Voss' book and I just realised something crazy. I think God has been negotiating my own salvation with me. It all adds up. I'm not kidding.
Yep, think about His conversation with Moses to save the Israelites in Egypt. David's repentance after he sinned with Bathesheba. Just Surrender its the best decision you'll ever make! 😊❤ Sounds like you have a good place to start...
@@janette499 what about the still small voice though? Direct speaking would be nice, but according to the book God does communicate to us at times ... according to the book ...
@@michaelnelson8618To me, the world seems to negotiate with each of our potentials. Through the cause and effect of our actions and consequences you will feel a sense of fulfillment when you're pursuing what's meaningful, and pain when you're not. I think it's useful to conceptualize that process as a personified entity, and it could fit some definitions for God.
During the pandemic, I watched Chris Voss's masterclass and the advice of active listening, as well as noticing when someone is having a bad day, seemed like a miracle in helping me out of situations or getting help when help had previously seemed stagnant. I discovered Dr Peterson soon after and the life-changing events continued. Wow, such a treat to have them both in the same interview. Thanks so much!
Lessons i've learnt:- 1) "Well i'm willing to learn and am coachable, and i wanna make everyone's life better" 18:44 2) "How can i be guaranteed to be involved in projects that are critical to our strategic future?" 19:24 3) When you ask a question that you really mean it. 24:35 4) Pressure makes diamonds, but you got to WANT to be a diamond. 24:51 5) "Well, i don't want to work too hard" = it's like you're not thinking about the work properly if that's your attitude because first of all, if you love what you're doing, you might really want to work hard, and if you don't love it, that means you don't see the point/end goal/value in it 25:36 6) Most of the meaning in people's lives comes from the adoption of voluntary responsibility, and most people do actually want to be diamonts. But they're afraid of the work and they're also afraid that it's going to be imposed on them and they're going to be forced into it. 26:07 7) Before you go into a job interview...To Be Continued PS. I heard people commenting on JP talking more than the interviewee 😅 So note to self, watch other valuable podcasts!
I have been reading Chris Voss's book and also following Dr Peterson for some time now and to hear both of their ideas come together and relate to one another is another type of feast in my mind ❤️
I think his voice is absolutely his biggest weapon … imagine trying to negotiate with a high pitch voice … this man’s voice gives a feeling of comfort …
thank you jordan . this episode really hit home and felt like something far more tangible for me to think about. i have been more willing to accept the catastrophe and act accordingly, it is a brutal world for the great majority man, and it feels good to see u take this conversation seriously. to have an interview be the meaning of whether u eat or not , is very frustrating as people abuse their authority . i have been far more predatory lately and refuse to feel sorry for it. im following my heart and thats that. thankful for 3 decades on this planet... and thankful that we have someone like you to go to before considering some watered down therapist/psychiatrist that leaves u feeling worse than when u came in. if i ever go to therapy and they say they dont know who you are , im walking right out. on my momma. thanks again.
Brother, I suppose English is not your first language neither mine. You becoming „predatory“ I do hope, you don't. Maybe you mean: assertive? Direct. God bless you! You've written well, you do come across as genuine.
I remember interviewing for a job and I brought a series of printed images showing the types of engineering analysis I could do. We talked for a bit and I pulled out the papers and said, this is what I can do and this is what you say you need. Got the job immediately. This interview helped me understand why that worked so well.
I love Mr. Voss's comment about asking how to be guaranteed a position that is strategic and working on the most important things in the company. So many people just want a job out of the spotlight with little to no pressure with a good paycheck. In other words, hide out along the periphery while everyone else moves the company forward. If I ever got an inkling that this was the type of person I was talking to, I immediately terminated hiring interviews. Those that want to play in "the big game" and see the satisfaction and rewards of that are the most important people in a company.
Watching and listening to this interview, interestingly enough with a 'negotiator' whose key skill is 'listening', I couldn't help myself being distracted by how much Jordan Peterson loved hearing himself talking.... non-stop, with one take of breath... I would have loved to hear Chris Voss speak more - or more precisely, to be given the chance to speak more.
Agreed, I've seen this same thing with other guests as well, where I end up wishing I could have heard a lot more from the guest. I'm a big fan of JP, but many times he gives off the vibe of someone who believes he's the smartest one in the room, and thus deserves to speak the most and interrupt at will. Regardless of whether he's actually the smartest in the room, it's not a good look, and is not conducive to mutually beneficial discussion.
Yes, in specially this one, he interrupted too many times. Even when Chris Voss was trying to answer JP's own questions. We never got to the end of the answer... JP kept interrupting, to the point that even Voss got frustrated and said "You should come and coach meeee" 😄
Just before the 32 minute mark, Chris makes a joke about Jordan preparing him for his next job interview. I think Jordan realised in that moment he might be talking too much and then moved onto the next point/question about active listening. Could be a coincidence, but I suspect Chris was subtly communicating what we're expressing here.
I don’t think it was so “subtle” either if we all clearly noticed it!! 😁 Chris seemed to be amused at whether Jordan had invited him to take him “hostage” 🤭 But more seriously, for me JP’s main problem was that he was pretending to be listening but he wasn’t much interested in what Chris really had to say… It annoyed me: every time JP asked Chris a question about Chris’s experiences in Chris’s domain of expertise, JP kept hijacking the answers halfway through and turning them around into JP agendas or what and how JP does those things (“You know, and I know better”). Was it just me who thought we never heard the full answers to any of the questions before JP cut in and deviated?
this isn't the chris voss show, I came here to see what jp has to say about what he has to say. Though, yeah the conversation gets a little complicated but what do you expect less? from someone who had been working in academics they spend a lot of life talking and educating those, so maybe its time to find a different channel
I like how Peterson genuinely listens and tries to make every last person he interviews or is interviewed by, stronger. Even when it's hostile, he's trying to build up whoever's opposite him. Such a rare talent, gift, tool, whatever.
This was amazing timing - I’m at a loss for my next step in my career, hopefully this helps. Thanks, Jordan. Update: I just got head hunted for my first management role - I was able to negotiate the company car from a basic one to a Tesla Model 3 dual motor (my dream car!) Thank you to everyone for the kind comments ❤
I love this discussion! Thank you SO much! 💕...Funny note... Im having trouble sleeping, so I put this on Spotify, hoping it would relax me. Of course, its so interesting that I am being a very attentive listener! So much in fact that I kept hearing a very quiet clicking sound in the background. So I switched to UA-cam so I could see the video. I thought there must be a fireplace crackling in the background but didnt see one. 🤷🏼♀️ So then I thought I must have water in my phone speaker thats distorting the sound (I dropped my phone in the dishwater yesterday😅), until I realized that it was Dr. Petersons pen making the sound! 😆 I love this observation because I was so worried that I was suffering from hearing loss! 💕 My goodness, Im always learning something new here, in ways I never even expected! God bless you guys! Thank you so much for everything, Dr. Peterson! You have profoundly changed my life & consequently, the lives of my children & every life I touch. 🥹 That is not a small thing. 💕🙏🏼
What a meeting of the minds. These are my two living heros in one show. Chris and Jordan, I wanna be like you gentlemen! I am 42 and on April 2nd I will attend my first day of college to become a crisis counselor. I have an application in with my our local 911 dispatch to build my skills. My undergrad work will be in psychology and I would like to minor in Spanish. It's because of the information I have learned from the two of you that I am choosing to seek my highest ability and be who God intends me to be. Thank you both, I love you!
I love the ask 'no-oriented-questions' advice. 'No' is a person's power-word. Saying it lets people know that they're not someone who can be pushed around. Ask questions in a way where 'no' get's you what you want. THE WRONG WAY: "Can we reach an agreement on this?" Answer: No. (negotiation over) THE RIGHT WAY: "Is there any reason to think that we can't come to an agreement on this?" Answer: No.....but a 'no' in the right direction. (you're negotiating)
Chris Voss is amazing. Calibrated how questions were difficult to adapt to at first, but once I got used to them, they really stump people aggressive and annoying people.
As someone who has managed a small business for many years I think one thing that younger people need to learn is that you should always work at the level you want to be paid at. If you have the mentality that you will only do the minimum because you are not paid a high wage then you will never be paid a high wage. Nobody will just give you a high position because you are a nice person. And if they did you would probably fail. The people that are at the top of organizations probably got there by doing more work than you would consider to be appropriate for what they were paid to do it. And they mostly do it because they want to do it, they want the business to be successful, not because they are paid well.
The people trying to apply Voss's advice are mostly inexperienced 20-year-olds who think his methods will enable them to become CEOs by age 21. It's for people who want a quick fix rather than being willing to put in the time, make sacrifices, and learn.
For the people who are annoyed that Jordan talks longer than guests. I notice that too and sometimes I also preferred to hear more from the guest. However, I am certain that Jordan does this podcast primarily for himself. Meaning that he is interested in laying out his vision of things in front of an expert and have it validated or critiqued. I have noticed that when the subject is something that he has really spent long thinking about he dominates the conversation and lays out these ideas that he has been developing. And when the subject is something he has only a basic understanding of he really lets the guest do majority of the talking. Case in point was Nuclear Fusion. I am just happy I get to listen to that conversation.

Jordan's interruptions are interesting, but I really wish he would let his guest speak more. I'm amazed at the patience Chris Voss shows during this interview.
“Hey Jordan, I’m going to have you coach me on my next job interview” is such a patient and gentle way of saying “remember that you’re interviewing me and haven’t asked me a question”
Jordan is more of a leader! Most people in this world don't have that. There are only a few of us! Leaders should always speak more because they have much more knowledge inside that people need to hear. Why do you think Jordan Peterson is extremely popular and this other guy is someone we don't even know? He didn't get to where he is by just shutting up and he's not going to start because of your unintelligent opinion. Believe me, he knows what he is doing.

Loved Chris Voss's Never Split the Difference. One point that has had a profound value in my life is getting the others to say 'THAT'S RIGHT'! subtle but powerful, game-changing wisdom
I feel this podcast woke me up. I have always been known for my ability and how I enjoy talking in public, and even tho that never ended because its a really big part of who I am, I have been very isolated lately and that kinda affected me strongly socially and mentally where I started feeling dumb. This made me extremely conscious every time I face a hard exercise or I had to talk in public (which is far from being "nervous" because I want, rather I eat myself with "I am losing them" or "I am not adding value" or "Im being unconscious on what matters here") so I ended up not feeling as confident but this podcast remind me of the basics of the values that I move on when I talk in public and helped me alligning the lessons with my personality
Thank you. I've been working at a sawmill/ logging company since 2013. I went back to school for automotive in 2019. I ended up staying at my job moving into maintenance. For the last year or so I went back to my old job I was trying to get away from due to lack of bodies. It went from just covering to permanent. I'm gearing up to visit all the dealerships in town to move out and up. This information is priceless to me. Thank you both so much.
I listened to his book "Never split the difference" almost 3 times on audible. Getting his ideas expressed in different words and applied to various situations was even better.
Thank You for coming to Fargo ND! I was totally immersed in the depth and clarity of the Biblical stories of Cain and Abel and Noah ! @@MidwestFarmToys There's a theory that the world was covered in another layer made up of water, aside from the ozone layer. Onew that would've blocked off more radiation and UV light so that the cell or the DNA didn't degrade it as fast as it does today. It was noticed that after Noah's flood people stopped aging that long so that water layer might've been the water that fell on the earth for 40 days and 40 nights. For the Cain one only God knows really but there's some speculation
@@MidwestFarmToys Shortly after God created the world people lived longer lives because the world was more pristine and their bodies (genes, DNA, etc) were not so damaged by environmental factors. Our world has slowly become more and more poisoned and damaged the further we've come from the day of creation. Romans 8:22 says, "We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time." All of creation is awaiting God's redemption not only of His people but also His world. As to why God was unhappy with Cain's offering: Genesis 4:3 says, "So in the course of time, Cain brought some of the fruit of the soil as an offering to the LORD, 4 while Abel brought the best portions of the firstborn of his flock. And the LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering, 5 but He had no regard for Cain and his offering. So Cain became very angry, and his countenance fell. 6“Why are you angry,” said the LORD to Cain, “and why has your countenance fallen? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you refuse to do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires you, but you must master it.” The clues are in the text. Abel brought the "best portions" while Cain brought "some of the fruit." When Cain felt the twinge of conviction instead of repenting and turning back towards God, he becomes angry, turns against God, gives himself over to sin (vs. 7) and shortly thereafter murders his brother in cold blood. Even after the murder, read the text carefully, he blame-shifts, denies and runs away rather than taking personal responsibility and repenting for his sin. The big question is: What do we do when we feel that twinge of conviction? What do we do when we KNOW we've done wrong? Do we run back to God and sincerely apologize and try from there on to do things according to His Word? Or do we run away, hide, blame-shift, deny we did anything wrong, etc? Choose carefully! Life is short but the afterlife is forever. You are immortal. You will live forever, somewhere. Choose life. Choose to run to Christ. He is the only way to God.
@krvnjrcbs Also, regarding Cain & Abel...How would you feel if your child brought you his garbage, but another child brought you his 1st & best possessions to have? 😮
for anyone wondering, perspicacity means : the quality of having a ready insight into things; a certain shrewdness. - e.g. "With remarkable perspicacity, she quickly deciphered the intricate patterns within the data, revealing insights that eluded others" or "The detective's keen perspicacity helped him solve even the most complex mysteries by noticing important clues others missed."
I've read the book "NEVER SPLIT THE DIFFERENCE" three times. It never once mention that the negotiator should use only use the method for good or reframe from being manipulative. JP forcefully inserted those two rules into the book, and Chris Voss just use "ACTIVE LISTENING" and "TACTICAL EMPATHY" to response to JP's bad claims without agreeing and JP doesn't realize it. The conversation itself is a great lesson to his book!
I started listening to this episode to listen to Mr. Voss, however, it was more of a lecture by Jordan instead. I did not finish the episode. We should hear more from the guests.
Now I understand people that do well in life is because they mentally vision and thinking is great. I wish teachers were like these guys. Verbally can motivate anyone without a book. Respect to you sir. Critical analytical can change the world👍.
Most of us don't work in jobs where negotiation is even possible. Ask for a raise, get a no if they like you, get fired if they don't. Most of us have no leverage and never will.
Like Chris said, if you're not valued the way you think you should be, you're not going to change your boss, you need to change your job. These aren't tactics they are tools and can absolutely be used to explain your value to your boss or to someone else who will pay you more.
This was beautiful. I found the part about core values moving. 'A core value is what you would do even when it costs you.' Chris then elaborates on integrity, which is one of his core values. This makes me wonder about his opinion on what constitutes the highest value, and if integrity is this for Chris.
I applied for a job as a Star Talker once. I lied my way into the position. Said I knew all about astronomy and had experience in public speaking. That got me the job and I became very good at it.
Hello Dr. Peterson, first off I would like to say, as a university psychology student from the Netherlands you have inspired me beyond measure and I thank you for the content you've put out. It has been a beacon for self improvement in my life, which I hope to share with others, professionally and privately. I've stumbled upon a video from Candace Owens holding certain beliefs on our field of mental healthcare and Freud that do not represent the consensus held within our field and which could possibly be damaging to it. As your content often overlaps, do you see any merit in having her on the platform to discuss the real and important place mental healthcare holds within our society today? I feel it would be an challenging, enlightning and encouraging for many that are struggling to find their way in life.
Finding it quite frustrating that Jordan is speaking so much more than Chris. Chris is an expert in the field and I'd love to be hearing more from him.
57:00 I had to fire a young lady 8 years ago. She sobbed and pleaded for her menial job. I told her, "as someone who has enjoyed working with you for the last 5 years, this tears me up inside. But I see in you something that is beyond this menial customer service job. Your subconscious knows that I'm right. You will do things far greater than anything that any of us are doing if you just focus and apply yourself. I really can't wait to see what you do in the future, and I mean what I'm saying wholeheartedly." I recently looked at her Facebook and she's now a business owner, living in a beautiful home instead of an apartment with roommates, and she's now happily married. She'll never thank me, but I'm so proud of her.
18.43 I’m sure he meant to say this question again, not the last thing you said. “How can I be guaranteed to be involved in projects that are critical to the strategic future of this organization?”
Dr. Peterson! You scheduled your event in Salt Lake City at the exact time as the GOP caucus! Now I have to decide if I should participate in the caucus or attend your speech
Thank you for this conversation. With having a job interview yesterday and likely plenty more job interviews in the future as I'm nearing graduating university, this discussion has been immensely helpful. I'm still confused and uncertain about the career I want to pursue as I haven't yet discovered what work I think I would love or want to devote myself to , but I guess I am now just trying to make use of the opportunities presented to me based on my education and skills. So I wanted to express my gratitude to you as a young 20yr old woman for inspiring me and for your invaluable guidance in helping me navigate the world with greater wisdom , thanks for speaking truth and spreading useful knowledge, it's truly enlightening. I've been listening to you for years, and I don't know why but you seem to be more interesting to me than most things in the world, including my uni studies sometimes. I don't know what to make of it, but maybe I hope to find work or build a life that I find as engaging and interesting as your mind.
Make sure to do many different jobs and or internships as early as possible. Maybe working for the government 1st. Gather different skills and work through where you've seen yourself as a younger person. If you like and are good at computer programming or business. Blessed be the Holy Name of Jesus, which in this case is used by you as an expression of disappointment about another's man work that we're enjoying for free. Even if I used a normal person's name, it would be degradating. You wouldn't do it with the name of any of your friends. Also, it's illogic to do if you're a believer who fears God, and it's illogic if you're not a believer, to mention someone you don't even care about as if that mention makes your statement more... authoritative, or convincing? Was it written on a whim? If someone is so annoyed at another person's speaking that they simply want to lash out, I doubt they'd have enough patience and open-mindedness to enjoy this kind of talk anyway.
"Never Split the Difference" by Chris Voss has had a profound impact on my life. A lot of what's in the book has become second nature to me and has helped me tremendously to get ahead. Never Split the Difference is hands down the best, most practical book for self-development I've read. I've used the tactics in the book to negotiate higher level positions and increased my salary by 30% in 4 years.
I came here to listen to Chris Voss and Jordan Peterson completely stole the limelight. Never allowed Voss to speak at length and dive deep.

This guy's masterful book has been in my top 10 for over 2 yrs.

Totally agree! The very first book that I've read for 3 times and enjoyed each time.
Whats it about?
Sounds like his book has been in your top 10 for over 2 years
@30guarino "That's Right!"
@@orandanon Didn't work as expected?
Sounds like it helped you make your way to the top in a really tough and competitive arena. You were probably competing with 2 other high school students who would rather be at home gaming. This is the kind of case study that Voss should include in his marketing materials.
@@citytrees1752 he’s just stating that something positive happened to him as a result of reading the book. No need to get all cynical and sarcastic about it.
@citytrees1752 you're an A hole really. Coming from a real big a-hole... that's saying alot
For someone struggling with belief and faith, could you add a bit to this? Negotiating how?
Negotiating with you personally ?My understanding of Christianity is that Jesus negotiates with God for us, but I’m curious on your epiphany 🙂
Thanks so much!
really enjoyed Jordan interviewing Jordan. Maybe next time he can interview Chris Voss
Exactly!
😂
Lessons i've learnt:-
1) "Well i'm willing to learn and am coachable, and i wanna make everyone's life better" 18:44
2) "How can i be guaranteed to be involved in projects that are critical to our strategic future?" 19:24
3) When you ask a question that you really mean it. 24:35
4) Pressure makes diamonds, but you got to WANT to be a diamond. 24:51
5) "Well, i don't want to work too hard" = it's like you're not thinking about the work properly if that's your attitude because first of all, if you love what you're doing, you might really want to work hard, and if you don't love it, that means you don't see the point/end goal/value in it 25:36
6) Most of the meaning in people's lives comes from the adoption of voluntary responsibility, and most people do actually want to be diamonts. But they're afraid of the work and they're also afraid that it's going to be imposed on them and they're going to be forced into it. 26:07
7) Before you go into a job interview...To Be Continued

I remember interviewing for a job and I brought a series of printed images showing the types of engineering analysis I could do. We talked for a bit and I pulled out the papers and said, this is what I can do and this is what you say you need. Got the job immediately. This interview helped me understand why that worked so well.
What a masterpiece of a conversation, is always a pleasure learning from the greatest minds of the world. Thank You Dr.Peterson and Mr.Voss.

Of course, its so interesting that I am being a very attentive listener! So much in fact that I kept hearing a very quiet clicking sound in the background. So I switched to UA-cam so I could see the video.
(negotiation over)
THE RIGHT WAY: "Is there any reason to think that we can't come to an agreement on this?" Answer: No.....but a 'no' in the right direction. (you're negotiating)
Chris Voss is amazing. Calibrated how questions were difficult to adapt to at first, but once I got used to them, they really stump people aggressive and annoying people.
Aggressive and annoying people?
As someone who has managed a small business for many years I think one thing that younger people need to learn is that you should always work at the level you want to be paid at. If you have the mentality that you will only do the minimum because you are not paid a high wage then you will never be paid a high wage. Nobody will just give you a high position because you are a nice person. And if they did you would probably fail. The people that are at the top of organizations probably got there by doing more work than you would consider to be appropriate for what they were paid to do it. And they mostly do it because they want to do it, they want the business to be successful, not because they are paid well.
Good point...😊

Thank You for coming to Fargo ND! I was totally immersed in the depth and clarity of the Biblical stories of Cain and Abel and Noah ! I have been attending BSF ( Bible Study Fellowship) for over 15 years with one book or two for each year. And very helpful, but your depth of understanding how these stories still relate to each of us today . And thanking Tami too for sharing her journey !
Anyone figure out how/why they all lived to like 600 years old yet? Why was god unhappy with Cain's offering? Just because?
But if you refuse to do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires you, but you must master it.”
The clues are in the text.
@krvnjrcbs Sounds like you are interested in the Bible?

The boss will never fire you for asking for a raise. He will just laugh and your wage is the same as before.
This was beautiful. I found the part about core values moving. 'A core value is what you would do even when it costs you.' Chris then elaborates on integrity, which is one of his core values. This makes me wonder about his opinion on what constitutes the highest value, and if integrity is this for Chris.
Going to have 2 job interviews the upcoming weeks. This is really useful information ✌️

This conversation would have been so much better if Jordan let Chris talk more
Dr. Peterson! You scheduled your event in Salt Lake City at the exact time as the GOP caucus! Now I have to decide if I should participate in the caucus or attend your speech
That's important ❤
How well do these techniques work with people that have mental illness????
Wishing you all the best, Lisa.
Make sure to do many different jobs and or internships as early as possible. Maybe working for the government 1st. Gather different skills and work through where you've seen yourself as a younger person.
If you like and are good at computer programming or business. Explore different jobs within the field while you're young but fine tune what you're passionate about and are good at in these areas. 😊

I appreciate both of you and what you bring to the community
"Never Split the Difference" by Chris Voss has had a profound impact on my life. A lot of what's in the book has become second nature to me and has helped me tremendously to get ahead. I wouldn't be where I'm at - negotiating big business deals for a living and being in the top 15% of salaries in my country at age 39 - if I headn't read that book. Being good at negotiating is a real-life superpower.
If he was less agreeable, he would be a stellar lawyer. He's smart, conscientious, can formulate arguments extremely well, and he's very articulate. Although I suppose it's a good thing that he never became a lawyer because he has ended up bringing far more societal benefit in the position he is now.
Jordan B Peterson and I B Listening.
Nice
Re-watched this video to gather what I missed. Amazing, thank you gentleman.

@@cormQerTHEworld never split the difference. Its worth the read
As a 25 year old who's finally figured out what my life goal and plans are, I am grateful to you Dr. Peterson.
For the last 5 years I've just been aimlessly pursuing personal pleasures to the detriment of my future. I'm now working out daily and got myself a steady job, alongside my not so steady job so I can afford to go to the police academy next year.
Moved to germany and doing unstable jobs so I can learn and train in my free time and get into the police force, nice to see people going through the same shit
@@indissolubilisociavit6560 yea man, each day is a new hurdle but it's for the better. We gotta stay strong and committed. No one else will do it for us. In my own case, I haven't left my father's tent, in that same capacity my father hasn't left his father's tent. I spent the last 4 years traveling the country doing gig work but that is unfulfilling and the opposite of my main goals to be a beacon in the community. You got this brother.
I read Chris' Never Split the Difference book! Really useful lens to examine how we interact with others.
Now these two guys coming together is just incredible
Never Split the Difference is a great read!
Tbh, I love how amazing of a listener Chris is! 🤯
In 2024,don't set new year financial goals without consulting a financial adviser.there expertise ensure a solid plan for success.Building wealth involves developing good habits like regular putting money away in intervals for solid investments.
Thanks for the advice! I'm new to financial planning and wasn't sure where to start.Any tips on finding a reliable financial adviser or resource to guide beginners?
I agree, based on personal experience working with an investment advisor, I currently have $1m in a well-diversified portfolio, that has experienced exponential growth. It is not only about having money to invest in stocks but also you need to be knowledgeable, persistent, and have strong hands to back it up.
@@EthanGreat-dx2tnHow can I participate in this? I sincerely aspire to establish a secure financial future and am eager to participate. Who is the driving force behind your success?

"What do you love about what you do for a living?"
What a treasure that must be to even have in the first place. Most days it feels like that is a fortune not everyone can be blessed with. That some of us are doomed to an existence of mere survival until the day we die, and that just doesn't feel like a life worth living.
I'm 30 min in and wondering, is Jordan so insecure that he needs validation from Chris?
