HERE'S HOW TO CALIBRATE the Amana after you replace the shock absorbers or other major parts: Go to diagnostic mode as described in this fellows video. All the LED's will be lit. FIRST make sure there is no clothes or water in the basket. Then all you do is ROTATE the control knob until the MIDDLE led is lit . You will have 2 leds NOT-LIT to the left and 2 NOT-LIT on the right. (ignore the RED LED). Now it is in CALIBRATION mode!! all you have to do to ACTIVATE CALIBRATION mode is press the START button. Then the machine will go through some 2 minutes of clicking and spinning the motor. Just be patient and wait for it to do its thing. Then it finally clicks and ALL THE LED's are OFF. That means it is done with CALIBRATION. wash some clothes and see if it is fixed. Mine is fixed but ONLY replacing the shock absorbers DID NOT FIX IT. It must be calibrated any time you replace a major part like that. I found my REPAIR MANUAL book inside the washer on the FRONT panel. Only had to remove the TOP PANEL to get the repair manual.

Bens Appliances and Junk Now looking into the clutch and/or the transmission to see if there are any contacts corroded or anything obvious as to why it isn’t spinning.?🤷🏻♂️ I noticed it doesn’t always enter the system into diagnosis every time. I’da never figured this out!
Transmission/clutch were fine, turned out to be the shifter module. Spins good now, but as my luck would have it, now it decided to not fill with water. 🤦🏻♂️🙄 Using Ben’s A&J video, it had error codes (I believe it was F11-E4?) for a water inlet temp. failure, and no continuity across terminals of both valves. I ordered a new water inlet valve, they sent one that didn’t fit. I called and ordered the (correct🤞🏽) new one, and not only was it the right one....they sent me 2 ✌🏼of them! Anybody know of any washer that uses 2 inlet valves? .....eh, didn’t think so.😅 Anyways, I replaced the inlet valve, ran diagnostics, cleared the fault codes, and successfully did a load of laundry. fireonice143
When I finished Left, right, right, right, left, right, they were all blinking, turned right once, got cycle complete. Then you say one more right click, which I did and it showed final spin. Went back one click left, pushed start, all lights light and blink and just stay blinking. One click right and only the sensing fill button lights. I did not hit start again. This is an Amana belt drive machine. If I put the machine in "Clean Washer with Affresh" mode it goes through all the cycles with no problem. This makes me doubt it is a mechanical problem?
For an Armana W10420472B the LEDs are f/e 8 4 2 1. Threw me off at first so I thought I'd share that. Got me an F7 E7, spin motor not reaching target RPM. Fun times!
Thanks for uploading this video I'm currently trying to fix an Amana high-efficiency laundry machine. Doesn't seem too hard to troubleshooting diagnose this machine. I hope I can figure this out. Thanks again. Cheers

I cannot get the panel of blinking lights to even do a diagnostic. My Amana just keeps filling with water and red lid lock lite is not on. Did exactly as you said but cannot get the blinking lites. HELP
Hi!!!! This was a GREAT video!! Bookmarked the page for future reference! I'm trying to repair my Mom's Amana NTW4650YQ0 top load washer and the control board was burnt so I bought another board with the same part number off of eBay labelled as a Whirlpool control board. I know that a variety of brands will carry the same type of control board so I was pretty confident as the part number was the same. I installed the new board, plugged in, set the machine to a small load and the machine filled fine then the lid locked and it went into wash mode. So far so good, right? Cycled out of wash mode and went in to rinse mode and then all lights went off so I took the hose off and drained all the water to try again. I tried entering diagnostics based on other UA-cam videos but your detailed video really did the trick and I finally succeeded. I tried manual diagnostics and the machine entered all the cycles and I could hear the drum spinning so the rinse/spin seems to be working fine but I don't know why it's not rinsing during regular use. I also ran the diagnostics and only the "fill" LED flashed so I'm assuming everything is fine. What else can I try?
My Amana did the same thing your machine did in this video: only blinking "sensing fill." I know something is wrong though because it will spin but won't agitate; I changed the agitator dogs. So, after doing the recalibration, are you supposed to run a full cycle before trying to do the diagnostic??
When i plugged mine in when i bought it. It must have been in diagnostic mode but i couldn't get anything to work. After watching your video i got it out of that mode and got it to work as whew
Do you have any idea how to reset the washer after a power outage? Every time the power goes out, it takes hours for the washer to start working again, and I can never find the right sequence of events to get to the solution faster. Your help is greatly appreciated.
No matter what I do, follow the procedure, lift the lid 6 times, unplug it, etc, I can never get more than one light to illuminate or blink on my Amana.
- UPDATE: After emptying my washer halfway, which was stuck with a full tub and did nothing, I finally got the lights to blink. Here's what I did: - After doing the counterclockwise full rotation reset on the cycle knob and THEN DOING THE FOLLOWING PATTERN, I GOT THE LIGHTS TO BLINK & DO WHAT HE SAYS. - *Amana: (in the manual): R3×, L1, R1 - But after that I'm stuck because everytime I turn the knob one click I get a different error code set, so that could be like 12 or more. What am I supposed to do with all these codes?!
- 6:18 How EXACTLY do you, "go thru" all the codes? Do we wait, do we press buttons, do we turn knobs, which knobs do we turn, how many times do we turn which knobs? Is there a separate error code set for each & every turn of the main dial? Do we have to write down each error code and record exactly where the dial was and associate it with that exact location of the direction of the dial knob? - Once we get error codes, then what are we supposed to do?!
I have no hot water have gone through to make sure it is not plugged either hose or filter and yes hot water is turned on. When hot water is selected no water enters drum cold water works perfectly. Did your troubleshooting mode on my Amana washer and it only flashed on the green fill button was not solid green flashing green only . No other buttons came on in diagnostic mode. I feel it could be stuck value on hot water side .. if not I believe it to be water solenoid sensor!! What do u think??
If I bypass the lid switch Which colors do I jump. If it's not getting the closed info/is there another way/place to bypass the lid closed signal? Thanks
Hi, I have an Amana washer and I did the diagnostic like you showed. The only light that keeps flashing after I press is the sensing fill. Do you have idea what it is? I am having problems with the sensing fill mode, it does not stop until the washer is full.
Is the only light its showing in the actual error code lookup is sensing fill, nothing else - or is it that when you try to start a cycle, all it does is flash sensing fill and nothing else?
@@MariaMoreno-iy6nm GENERALLY that means it cannot detect any fail codes. If you cycle through the next one or two codes and get the same info, there may not be any major codes stored in it. Having said that, the sensing fill light flashing when the machine is running, and not doing anything else 'til its filled - it may be a pressure hose/switch problem on detecting proper fill volumes which typically doesn't have a code to it. I would suggest re-calibrating the machine, and make sure that clear plastic pressure hose isn't damaged.
Bens Appliances and Junk thank you so much for replying back and for sharing your video. We think is a major problem with the transmission because the agitator does not spin when is put to wash. And we also found oil leak at the bottom of the washer 😥
Impressive Now/will I get the F codes first and after?a few seconds the E code appears? The paplet says F is the issue?E is the part involved?I think. The pamphlet is almost like a tiny Electric Code book. Stupid thing after one sentence/it refers you to another page!!! Thanks
My machine is balanced, but i cant even wash 2 towels and 4 clothing without my machine jump ing across the floor while spinning...also, a screeching noise when water filling...can you help?

Thank you so much for this video. I do have a question, i did my Amana diagnosis and it shows 3 lights flash together and then 1 alone. What does this mean?
I did the diagnostic test and there lights that went on were the wash, final spin and cycle complete. Is that 7 total? thank you so much for the video. if you don't mind i have a question. my amana is leaking water in bottom around the center, any ideas what could it be? thanks in advance joaquin
Skipped something here. At 4:36 there is a blinking fill light, and "I don't have all the codes, but I can show you how this is going to work." A second later there is a close up of the lights, and the fill light is on steady. Mine just keeps blinking the fill light the way the washer in the video is blinking at 4:36. Does this mean there are no error codes? Is there something else that needed to be done while the light was blinking to get the error codes? My washer alsways skips rinse. On regular cycle (cold/cold), the fill light comes on and it fills, the wash light comes on and it washes and drains, then it goes straight to "final spin". One rinse cycle, the fill light comes on for 3 seconds, then it jumps to final spin. Really weird...
I have a question can I fill my washing machine with a garden hose I had some trouble with rust in my pipes so I tried to fill it with my hose.but I don't know if the computer recognizes that the machine is full of water already is this doable?

Hi, I just released a video involving a maytag washer - uses the same system to check/test the various diagnostic modes, including testing the Shift Actuator. I would check to see what happens when you try to force it out of spin mode to agitate. If you can't do it, then the shift actuator underneath is bad.
Good video for explaining how to read error codes!!!! Just wished you would've explained that on some washing machines that wash could actually be the #8 then it would go 4 2 1 and lid lock would act as your #0!!!! I bought a $30 water inlet valve because I read it as an f3 e2 when in fact it was an f7 e5 my actuator.Other than that good informative video.
I've done updated videos on this. Sadly, UA-cam hates the idea of editing videos, otherwise I'd of added more content to it. The problem is that older versions of these washers (like the one in the vid) add the #8 in there, while older ones only went up to 4. I made this video before that was a frequent thing with these style washers.
This should be the top comment. The key values can’t form the last 3 codes on the list, so they’re not a matching set. Just buy a new washing machine. The part you need probably costs half a washing machine anyways
@@josephdixon81 I doubt that unless you need a board and even that on my machine isnt what they want for a new washer! 544 at home depot for mine. I bought two parts for mine to fix it and it cost me less than 50 bucks.
On my Amana, I didn't have to unscrew anything to get my MANUAL FROM MY USED washing machine. Just reach my hand in on the upper L side between the wall and the tub and it's stuck to the front wall in a ziploc bag
I have thought for a few weeks now that my problem was my lid lock. You just confirmed it!! I loved your video. Good job! Rated excellent. Now how do I replace the lid lock? Thank you, much. M.Abel
The real question should be how can we GET RID OF THE LID LOCK?! THERE'S LITERALLY NO REASON TO LOCK A LID THAT'S METAL AND RESTS DOWNWARDLY WHEN CLOSED.

Anybody know of any washer that uses 2 inlet valves? .....eh, didn’t think so.😅 Anyways, I replaced the inlet valve, ran diagnostics, cleared the fault codes, and successfully did a load of laundry. fireonice143
Thank you for taking it slower then the other video I watched when it came to the code section.
Fun times!
l was able to reset/fix my washer because of this video.
Thanks for uploading this video I'm currently trying to fix an Amana high-efficiency laundry machine. Doesn't seem too hard to troubleshooting diagnose this machine. I hope I can figure this out. Thanks again. Cheers
You are very thorough. I appreciate you. We have replaced several parts on our Maytag washing machine saving us from buying a new one or having someone come out and fix it. Thank you very much.
Thank you so much for making this video. I have a Kenmore 100 series that was stuck in the wash cycle and all it was doing was fill the drum with water, nothing else. I followed your instructions and fixed it.
Hi. Did you do the steps with water still in the drum?
- My Amana (Whirlpool brand) too filled (heavy load) and then did nothing else besides click & light up with only basic single lights.
- Then WHILE STILL FILLED FULL I did the steps & got nothing except a couple click sounds.
Like trying to figure out some sort of mystical washer puzzle. And once you're lucky enough to crack the code, you can now pick up the phone call the repairman.
Nicely done! very straightforward, complete and helpful!!!
Thank you SO MUCH for the detail you have provided. Say what you want about women talking too much, you'd be surprised at the number of fix-it videos done by men who say nothing. Kind of worthless to the lay person, and guaranteed not to get subscribers lol. You're awesome. Thanks again!
Thank you so much for this video, I was able to get my Amanda working again!! 🎉
Thank you. Your video worked on my machine. I was ready to just buy a new one.
I cannot get the panel of blinking lights to even do a diagnostic. My Amana just keeps filling with water and red lid lock lite is not on. Did exactly as you said but cannot get the blinking lites. HELP
Thanks!
Thank u finally a vid that makes sense of the codes manual makes no sense
This video helped me so much. Ended up diagnosing my problem and fixing it myself. Thank you for this video. I did not know about any of this.
Wow, it worked on my Maytag! No error codes, so it's unbalanced. Thx!
Very well put together video. Thank you

Straight to the point great video
Does the same error codes work for amana washer model number: NTW4605EW0? Or do you know where I can find the error code guide for this washer?
My Amana did the same thing your machine did in this video: only blinking "sensing fill." I know something is wrong though because it will spin but won't agitate; I changed the agitator dogs. So, after doing the recalibration, are you supposed to run a full cycle before trying to do the diagnostic??
Behold, the Wizard of Washers! Thank you Gandalf, you saved me $
Thank you! My washing machine works again.
When i plugged mine in when i bought it. It must have been in diagnostic mode but i couldn't get anything to work. After watching your video i got it out of that mode and got it to work as whew
Awesome stuff. Ben.Very helpful video. I love the shirt lol
Do you have any idea how to reset the washer after a power outage? Every time the power goes out, it takes hours for the washer to start working again, and I can never find the right sequence of events to get to the solution faster. Your help is greatly appreciated.
"hard reset" is (1) unplug for >1 minute (2) plug in and open/close the lid 6 times within 12 seconds.
Here's what I did:
- After doing the counterclockwise full rotation reset on the cycle knob and THEN DOING THE FOLLOWING PATTERN, I GOT THE LIGHTS TO BLINK & DO WHAT HE SAYS.
- *Amana: (in the manual): R3×, L1, R1
- But after that I'm stuck because everytime I turn the knob one click I get a different error code set, so that could be like 12 or more. What am I supposed to do with all these codes?!
Thanks, Ben. This let may know the lid swich is flakey. I got it to go by pushing down on the lid, but will replace it soon.
I love your videos! I am 71 and petite...was 5'2" but now 5'. Where are the links to order your clothing?
I have no hot water have gone through to make sure it is not plugged either hose or filter and yes hot water is turned on. When hot water is selected no water enters drum cold water works perfectly. Did your troubleshooting mode on my Amana washer and it only flashed on the green fill button was not solid green flashing green only . No other buttons came on in diagnostic mode. I feel it could be stuck value on hot water side .. if not I believe it to be water solenoid sensor!! What do u think??
If I bypass the lid switch
Which colors do I jump.
If it's not getting the closed info/is there another way/place to bypass the lid closed signal?
Thanks
This looks like my Roper I bought a couple of years ago. Same design as the whirlpool?
So I have a F5 code. Fill light out and wash light lit and cycle complete. So what would my trouble be for my amana
I have the same code. I hope someone replies to this
how do you get an 8 or 9 error code if the numbers you have to total are 4 , 2 , 1 and 0 ?
Hi, I have an Amana washer and I did the diagnostic like you showed. The only light that keeps flashing after I press is the sensing fill. Do you have idea what it is? I am having problems with the sensing fill mode, it does not stop until the washer is full.
Is the only light its showing in the actual error code lookup is sensing fill, nothing else - or is it that when you try to start a cycle, all it does is flash sensing fill and nothing else?
Bens Appliances and Junk is the actual error code .. that’s the only light that blinks.
Nothing else blinks
You saved me a bunch of money!!
I have a Kenmore with the lights display. However, my light that shows Fill in your video has Sensor instead. Will the code for that light still be F?
My Amana washer's red light was on and I couldn't unlock my machine but following your instructions I now have my washer back. THANKS
Impressive
Now/will I get the F codes first and after?a few seconds the E code appears?
The paplet says F is the issue?E is the part involved?I think.
The pamphlet is almost like a tiny Electric Code book.
Stupid thing after one sentence/it refers you to another page!!!
Thanks
My machine is balanced, but i cant even wash 2 towels and 4 clothing without my machine jump ing across the floor while spinning...also, a screeching noise when water filling...can you help?
Second time I watched this and thank God it worked😀
Ben my Kenmore 500 series I did the diagnostic test exactly like you showed and mine only came out with 1 light at the end, the sensory light lit up, what could that be? I'm so confused
4 years a g o but
When u hit clear.the knob had moved from where it had been?
It's now at 7 oclock?

Ben Appliances it's 2:17 AM in the morning and I am here watching your video because I am stress out with my washer Amana . Used a whole pack of laundry detergent and my clothes never wash the machine collected the water runs it out then light up wash😭😭. Never wash the clothes. So I keep trying and trying same result. Wasting water and electricity. Please help me. How can I get my clothes wash. It works on spin and drain. I thought maybe was to much clothes but even with 5 pieces of clothes nothing. Still not washing. I pray you responde to my question. God bless you and I must say great video.
What error codes did you get on the machine?
@@bensappliancesandjunk Good morning @Bens Appliances and Junk i am here right now trying to do as youare doing in the video but nothing. I tried about 10 times. I even unplug it and plugged it back up. The lights just didn't came on. Does that mean I'm doing something wrong??
It Lit up after my trys at Sensing fill and Cycle complete. What do I do now
It's likely you are not inputting the sequence right. Here's another video I have on reading codes: ua-cam.com/video/X9zNsGhmeeM/v-deo.html
@@bensappliancesandjunk Now its showing me all the lights which I this is the F7. After do all you say it's now F7(F 4 2 1 0)

Codes because you don’t list F3E3 ? Why does it mean?
Thank you so much for this video. I do have a question, i did my Amana diagnosis and it shows 3 lights flash together and then 1 alone. What does this mean?
I’m getting an F3 E0 code. Not finding any literature online about this code. Do you have any idea? Thanks for the great video!
I did the diagnostic test and there lights that went on were the wash, final spin and cycle complete. Is that 7 total? The problem I have is that it doesn't complete the fill and empties the little water that it had.. and it won't continue. I was trying to wash my bedspread so i had it on bulk. I have an Amana NTW4605EW0, which I regret buying in the first place.
thank you so much for the video. if you don't mind i have a question. my amana is leaking water in bottom around the center, any ideas what could it be? thanks in advance joaquin
Could be a cracked tub.
Ur the man bro !
Thank you for the detailed information! It helps me tremendously!
Glad it was helpful!
What does it mean if ONLY the “sensing fill” light flashes?
I asked this question too, hoping for a reply!
Hi ,Thank you for the great information, my Whirlpool WTW 4850HW1 is stuck in final spin mode and can’t be get rid of it.After unplugged and plugged it back, still in this mode. So, I cannot check anything,do you know what should I do?Thank you very much.

Having the exact same problem
Hi, I just released a video involving a maytag washer - uses the same system to check/test the various diagnostic modes, including testing the Shift Actuator. I would check to see what happens when you try to force it out of spin mode to agitate. If you can't do it, then the shift actuator underneath is bad.
I am also in trouble with amana washer as it leaks from top of the washer , can you please tell me what’s the issue and how it can be fixed ?
Roper, Fill and wash lights flash together then go out and the cycle light flashes. What is the washer saying?
I reset it and it started to work . thank you
Every helpful thanks man
Outstanding, thank you!
Thanks I was banging my head against the wall trying to figure the codes out😀😀😀😀😀👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
You’re welcome 😊
@@josephdixon81 my comment or the reply
@@josephdixon81 I doubt that unless you need a board and even that on my machine isnt what they want for a new washer! 544 at home depot for mine. I bought two parts for mine to fix it and it cost me less than 50 bucks.
This is the first YT video ive seen with "index title" markers on the red time bar .... NICE ! , ill have to update my videos.
Really? Interesting. I've done it with a few videos, but certainly not all. I am unsure how beneficial they are yet.
On my Amana, I didn't have to unscrew anything to get my MANUAL FROM MY USED washing machine. Just reach my hand in on the upper L side between the wall and the tub and it's stuck to the front wall in a ziploc bag
Why do these Amana washers fill up all the way when set on Auto sense even when there is a small load?
I have the same exact washer... I think mine is branded Roper. I love it. It's a workhorse for as inexpensive a machine it is and runs so quiet!
Mines branded amana (in Canada btw)
I hv a roper also that thing uses way to much water
My washer is flashing fill and final spin intermittently. I don't see that on your video.
I have thought for a few weeks now that my problem was my lid lock. You just confirmed it!! I loved your video. Good job! Rated excellent. Now how do I replace the lid lock? Thank you, much. M.Abel
I have another video for that one in the library
The real question should be how can we GET RID OF THE LID LOCK?! THERE'S LITERALLY NO REASON TO LOCK A LID THAT'S METAL AND RESTS DOWNWARDLY WHEN CLOSED.
God Bless you for the video.
I did the test and got the final soon light and cycle complete lighter on as a result. What does that mean. Is that EW?
