If you have rusty water, you can try cleaning the inlet valves out and reinstalling. I use lysol black toilet bowl cleaner get it inside and on the outside hookups (where the hoses hook to) rinse it all out, make sure the solenoid things are dry, and put it back in. I have to pull ours and clean it every couple months (it between then i have to switch hose sides) because it's completely orange and water flow is blocked. Omg bro you’re awesome I couldn’t figure out what was wrong with my amana washer turns out i was having the same problem cold water wasn’t working nor was the cycle being completed
@ Kyle, I have the same washer, it sprung a leak a week ago, so I changed the pump out, still was leaking water after that, so I took the back off again and just set there watching, water starting dripping constantly from the hot water side valve, so I ordered a new one, just installed it, when I start the fill cycle the valves just hum loudly, like it’s getting juice but no water will come out at all, and I’ve switched between all the water setting and nothing changes, so what do I need to do
sorry I didn't see this comment until now. If you're sure all of the electrical connections are good then it sounds like this might be a problem with a different component in the washer. Not really sure what it would be, since I didn't have the same problem as you. But if it seems like the fill valve is working then you can at least rule that out. You'll probably need to do some more research to figure out the cause of the issue. When I research stuff like this I first try to learn how the appliance works "under the hood", and then try to think what parts could be the cause. Then I do more research to try to rule out each part. Sorry that's not really an answer to your question but I hope it helps and you figure it out!
@ yep! Got it! You’re the best thanks! Just got everything re assembled. About to plug it in and turn it on. Moment of truth lol your video was awesome!
Hey I know this is an old video but I just fixed my inlet valve on the same washing machine you don't have to necessarily replace it ,,on both ends there is a little green cap you can pop it off and the magnet things slide off both sides are interchangeable so you could swap them around to make sure that's actually the issue if it's not unscrew the white stem and clean out the rubber gasket also a little plastic piece in between the rubber gasket stretch the spring a little bit out put it back together and should work fine
I forgot to mention I think you have to plug in the wire upside down if you're using the other sides magneto thing ,,the part numbers are one number off , I would just take it apart and clean it stretch the spring out see if that fixes your issue before you swap them around
Hi Kyle, first of all thanks for the video. I have the exact same model Amana washing machine as you and I think I have the same problem, but I'm not sure. When I try to run a cold/cool water cycle the basin will fill with just a little water and then get stuck on the sensing fill part of the cycle, like you described, and then try to restart the cycle. My hot/warm water cycles run fine until the rinse part of the cycle (which only uses cold water), it'll fill with just a little water and stall before the cycle forcefully ends. Is this what happened to you as well?
Pretty similar. For me, if I remember correctly the cold would not fill up with any water at all but the hot would. I never ran a full hot cycle but I'm assuming the ending rinse would have failed. Its possible that you have the same issue
How did you remove the new ones coverings for the plugs? For the old it was easy with players but the new blue ones look sealed to it and I can’t get them off
Hi so we have the same washer and the same problem. Is there any chance you still have the part or item number for that valve? Great video thank u so much for sharing
No sorry I don't have the part number anymore but I think this is the link where I found it. It's a page with all the inlet valves for amana washers so it should atleast point you in the right direction www.repairclinic.com/Shop-For-Parts/a11b1c37i219/New/Amana-Washing-Machine-Valve-Float-Water-Inlet-Valve-Parts
Have the same exact washer and I’m having the same problem. My washer is only 4 months old though. Wonder if this will fix my issue considering I only run cold water on mine
Probably... this seems to be a common problem with these things. Being only 4 months old it may be covered under warranty. It might also be less expensive to fix your self even with warranty though.
Will the inlet valve also prevent washer from starting and locking at start .. hot water will make it lock . Still no water. Just on sanitation setting
This is happening to me too. But the cold runs for a few seconds. And the hot water will run for a few seconds longer than cut off. I don't ever use the hot water, though could I have the same problem?
We recently had a freezing temperatures out here that caused a pipe to burst. The pressure was so strong the hot water connection broke off the back of our washer and when I run a fill cycle it trickles water from the hot side even when I use cold. Is there a simple fix for that or would it just be better to replace the whole inlet valve?
Thanks for making this video! I'm attempting this repair today. Only thing I can't figure out so far is how to pop the top off with the putty knife! Anyone know?
Do the inlets have n ay type of screen or filters,,i have a 3 year old amana thats short cycling and not getting clothes clean,,,we have well water and it often stops up certain appliances,,,
I dont remember to be honest. It definitely doesn't have a built in filter but the may be small screens on there. It's probably best to set up a separate filtration system if you don't already have one so the water is filtered before it gets to the washer. I wouldnt rely on the inlet valve to do it.
I replaced the unit and am still getting drips on the cold side, though less frequent. All the hoses are a good hand tight and not leaking. Leak is on the inside, behind tub coming off the blue plastic piece of the intake valve, same as with the one I replaced. Trying to see if the water could be traveling from somewhere else? It has destroyed the floor. #baffled. BTW mine is older and came apart somewhat differently. Good vid. Thx.
Interesting. You may have to remove the whole back panel to see the source of the problem. I never had that issue before so I'm not sure what would be the cause.
lol funny i just watched your termite video because i have termite damage, and the washer the previous owners left behind the inlet valve actually broke within a year so i just replaced it about a month ago.
Bought a new house and this washer came with it, seemed fine until the same thing happened to me. It’ll only start to fill on any temp setting for 5 seconds when you open then close the lid. Once closed, water rushes in for about 5 seconds then it stops unless I open and close the lid again.
These washers are such crap. I can't believe how common of an issue this is. My issue was slightly different than what your describing though, so it's possible there could be something else going on.
@@KyleMerl yeah so occasionally when its done filling, it makes a sound as if it’s starting and stopping the agitating phase. sometimes opening and closing will fix it temporarily… I just bought the part. I’ll let you know how it goes if it’s a complete fix. 👍🏽
I have the same model, but it will not fill with enough water like a large load will fill like a medium. What do you think it might be? Hot water works and cold water.
It could be a number of things. Inlet valve, water level switch, clogged water filters, or possibly a plumbing issue like not enough water pressure. Are the water hoses kinked behind the washer? You'll have to do some research to try to figure out where the problem is coming from.

How do you pop the top off at 1:20? Mine wont pop off like that
@@Mountains4ever it's the angle. That's why I pulled the washer out so far. You kind of need to come in more from the side
@ yep! Got it! You’re the best thanks! Just got everything re assembled. About to plug it in and turn it on. Moment of truth lol your video was awesome!
@Mountains4ever glad it helped!
@ it works! But now the shocks broke on the drum so I need to fix that tomorrow hahaha if it’s not one thing it’s another lol
Hey thank you man, this saved me a fortune.
@@Xxwalkamongus84 glad it helped!
This is the issue I am having. I am wondering if I fix that part if it’ll work good as new.
How did you remove the new ones coverings for the plugs? For the old it was easy with players but the new blue ones look sealed to it and I can’t get them off
They were tough. I really had to pull at them.
@@KyleMerl perfect thank you so much
Just wanted to let u know it worked thanks so much for your awesome video
Have the same exact washer and I’m having the same problem. My washer is only 4 months old though. Wonder if this will fix my issue considering I only run cold water on mine
Probably... this seems to be a common problem with these things. Being only 4 months old it may be covered under warranty. It might also be less expensive to fix your self even with warranty though.
Will the inlet valve also prevent washer from starting and locking at start .. hot water will make it lock . Still no water. Just on sanitation setting
Not sure ... I dont recall if my washer stopped locking or not.
Do these have fill screens that can be cleaned?
No
Did this reduce the amount of water hammering??
@@kyledwinell2843 i didn't have that issue so not sure if it would help
Thanks will do this with my washing machine. Whew will save me money. Thank u!
Thanks for this. Mne has the same symptoms. Now I know I can handle this repair.
Helpfull in getting the top off using a scraping tool to compress the spring.
This is happening to me too. But the cold runs for a few seconds. And the hot water will run for a few seconds longer than cut off. I don't ever use the hot water, though could I have the same problem?
I'm not sure. If I remember correctly there water didnt run at all for me.
U might be able to get by with teflon tape temporarily. If the threads are messed up I'd just replace the whole valve. It's not that hard of a job
Ha! I had to do the same thing with the wires. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for making this video! I'm attempting this repair today. Only thing I can't figure out so far is how to pop the top off with the putty knife! Anyone know?
You have to come at it at a specific angle. That's why I pull the washer out so far in the video
@@KyleMerl Thanks. I'll keep goofing with it!
Hey, I fixed it, thanks to your video! You saved us about $600. Thanks again!
Glad it helped!
What is it u use to take those screws out of the top of the valve?
I replaced the unit and am still getting drips on the cold side, though less frequent. All the hoses are a good hand tight and not leaking. Leak is on the inside, behind tub coming off the blue plastic piece of the intake valve, same as with the one I replaced. Trying to see if the water could be traveling from somewhere else? It has destroyed the floor. #baffled. BTW mine is older and came apart somewhat differently. Good vid. Thx.
Interesting. You may have to remove the whole back panel to see the source of the problem. I never had that issue before so I'm not sure what would be the cause.
Would this Valve be the reason my washer is dripping inside? Few drops of cold water into the drum from where the water comes out when it fills
Not sure... it's possible but u may need to do some more troubleshooting to really diagnose the issue.
lol funny i just watched your termite video because i have termite damage, and the washer the previous owners left behind the inlet valve actually broke within a year so i just replaced it about a month ago.
What if it does not fill up at all even with the hot would it still be that problem?
Its possible that both sides of the inlet valve are bad... but it could also be other things so i would probably do more research to make sure
@@KyleMerl thank you.
Can you help me locate the part…when I click on the link it doesn’t take me to it.
Go to repairclinic.com, search by your appliance's model # and look for inlet valve.
Seems like my hot side is failing and the agitator occasionally doesn’t work. Do you think the inlet valve is the same issue ?
Possibly... but I'm unsure if it would effect the agitator.
@@KyleMerl yeah so occasionally when its done filling, it makes a sound as if it’s starting and stopping the agitating phase. sometimes opening and closing will fix it temporarily… I just bought the part. I’ll let you know how it goes if it’s a complete fix. 👍🏽
@@Inferno9978 hope it works for ya! 🤞
You'll have to do some research to try to figure out where the problem is coming from.
we have no lights to our 1.5 yrs Amana washer just like yours. Do you have a video on changing fuses?
Nope, sorry. I've never had to do that before.
The Model number brings up Maytag parts, not Amana parts. Are these the same?
Not sure. I dont remember seeing maytag parts when I looked it up but it has been several years since I did this.
I checked a bit closer it covers a bunch of makes including Amana. Thanks man, I just ordered.
