What really makes you feel old is that during the 80's people were restoring 60's Mustangs and Camaros as classic hot rods, but yet, they were only 20 years old. That's like someone restoring a '99 Mustang as a classic car. An '85 Capri is just ancient compared to those Mustangs and Camaros in the 80's.

Great Video!...I am a former owner of a 1985 Mercury Capri RS 5.0 with Dark Red Metallic and Gray Cadding Bottom Trim on the Exterior and Gray Luxury Sports Cloth Interior with the Red Trim Sports Seats! (The Mercury Capri had a Higher End Interior than the Mustang IMHO!).
It was a 5sp and the previous owner had replaced the Bubble Glass Hatchback with a 85 SVO Hatchback with the Dual Split Rear Spoiler!...I kept it mostly Stock at the time, but I put some 50 Series BF Goodrich Radial Tires on the Factory Wheels and a Yellow Koni Lowering Springs and Shocks Kit!
I miss that 85 Mercury Capri RS 5.0 it was the last year of the Carbureted 5.0 (302ci.) engine and first year with Factory Headers!...I also liked the Unique Front End with the Built-in Front Spoiler and Fog Lamps!
The 1985 ASC McLaren Mercury Capri was a Next Level Up from my 1985 Mercury Capri RS 5.0L, but they both were Unique Capris!...God Bless America!
BTW!...I really like the Idea of the 5.0L Coyote engine Swap, I had the same Idea to do to mind as well!

This video and the whole project was incredibly moving to me. My Father was into hot rodding and custom builds his entire life until I was born and the business and family took precedence. I’ve never had an opportunity to enjoy a project with him, but have seen pictures of him and his builds from the 60’s-70’s and dreamt about it my whole life.
He sadly ended his own life in August of 2014 and I’ll never be able to make my childhood dreams a reality, but watching this video made me envious of the love this family shares! The reveal made me tear up with sheer joy as I imagined what it would be like to do this for my Dad. My Dad, the man who never cries, would be rendered tearful and the hug he would give me would be the warmest ever.
I want to thank you guys for putting this together. While I can’t mimic this for my own Father, I can experience it by watching you pull off this beautiful, most meaningful project. Family is everything and you showed us all how dedicated you are to yours!
One day, I hope to have a son and we can have special projects of our own, and maybe know that my Dad can look down upon us and smile!

      Anthony,
I know this is a very late reply but I wanted to say this anyways. Sorry for your loss. I lost my father to Cancer back in 2012 the day before Thanksgiving. I spent 6 weeks in Hospice care with him every night. I got no sleep, wrecked two cars within 2 weeks of each other. One was a 2001 Mercury Cougar he gave me. It was too much to fix so I scrapped it. The other was an S10 pickup but it was minor damage. That experience changed my life forever. I became a Male Nurse instead of an A.S.E. Master tech with adv diag. and many more credentials. We had restored a 1967 Cougar together. My mom and I are like water and fire. She kept that car from me until just recently. It was supposed to be mine gifted to me. Recently, my older brother passed away. I finally convinced her the car belonged to me. I had to pay her a tidy sum but I do not care. She needed the money and the car is where it belongs.
I am now 45 yoa with no heirs. I have 3 male nephews and 1 of several nieces that may inherit this car. I look forward to seeing which one falls in love with it like I did. Your story got me thinking about mine. I know they are different but family life is a doubled edge sword. I am thankful we both will likely get to build relationships because of something as "trivial" 😉 as an old vehicle. I would love to hear if you have any kids yet and if not any nephews or nieces to share this bond with. I wish you well, sir. I hope you get the fulfillment you are looking for out of life. I can tell you are a good soul, brother. Peace

I watched each episode of this build. That is 1 sweet build! Most of the parts on my car has come from lmr. Let Shannon know I for 1 will always shop there 1st, before anywhere else. Oh just a quick note, there's still a ton of oe parts we'd still love for him to be able to get his hands on for us.....lol.

I used to hate that rear bubble window on the capri now I think it really fits the car. Love the end result btw.

Wow that turned out amazing. I didn't even know these existed. I knew capris existed but not this one. Wow that blue and grey with a little bit of orange... Perfect. I love that they put a coyote in it. I bet it rips.

I have a 1982 mustang gt. Me and my dad were working on rebuilding it however in 2005 my dad lost his battle with cancer. I still have the car and I'm hoping to get it finished by the summer of 2021 in his memory. I'll be in touch with you LMR for a lot of parts. Thank you for bringing faith back in me for being able to find resto parts.
