    Fantastic and comprehensive PSA! You guys managed to do what few vendors are: make a reference video in which you also advertise your own products without being annoying salesmen. Instead of feeling like the video was made to sell products first, inform potential swappers/customers second or worse; it was 100% the other way around. Cheers and thanks, PBH!

    I have a 66 falcon that im building and had originally decided to go, LS, yes i was going to be an LS bro, I love fords but cant beat how the LS can make power in a small package. Ive since changed direction and scored a coyote 5.0. I am currently trimming the shock towers and adding bracing. I made a mock up motor out of thin wood panels. I am able to get 2 inches of clearance on both sides of the valve cover corners and widens back up from there down leaving plenty of room for headers. Have not gotten to the steering column yet. Baby steps.

    I plan on dropping a Gen 1 into my 1998 GT, would love to keep my 4r70w instead of having to buy a new transmission. People say LS swaps are cheap but you can easily find a Gen 1 in good shape for less than $4500 and I’m up here in Jacksonville where car parts within a 100 mile radius don’t last long, North Florida has their share of car enthusiasts 😂

    Definitely good info. My son and I are about to start ordering all the goodies to start building a 23T Bucket kit from Speedway Motors; and so we have something totally different from what you see in the majority of those cars, do a coyote swap. I have a 2013 Ford F150 that may wind up being the donor or we are going to sell it and buy a newer Mustang Coyote and trans out of a wrecking yard with the ECM and wiring harness. The way it looks after watching this video we will mainly need a set of custom made roadster headers. Thanks for what you do!

I live in the middle of literally nowhere, and I'll be lucky enough to get my hands on a truck engine lol. I know the differences more or less between the two platforms, and the different generations well enough. We'll see what presents itself. Jeremy Gattenby I’m in the planning stages for a 69 Restomod build and after tons of research I found it to be just as expensive to put a coyote motor in the car. Both motors would require the same amount of work and are roughly the same cost/ power output. I’d love to have a twin turbo motor in my mustang but at this point I might as well do a coyote swap. With the coyote swap many have done it, many companies have parts for the swap, I can buy a wrecked gt to get many parts I’ll need compared to having to source a 3.5L, manual transmission and all the parts associated. I even have access to below market prices on the parts but it’s still about the same cost either direction. Might as well do a coyote swap then right?

    • @jeremygattenby2183

      Saw Greater I love the Ecoboost motor. It delivers an amazing amount of torque. It’s light weight, efficient and quiet. Personally I prefer the coyote for a Mustang. It’s a 5.0, it’s got the hp and the muscle car sound. I say go Coyote but honestly, both drive great.

  • @177SCmaro
    @177SCmaro 11 місяців тому +1

    Btw, it's not a veritable runner intake, it's a charge motion control valve. It's basically a flap near the intake port that acts a little like a venturi in a carburetor. The idea being to enhance the air charge velocity at low engine speeds to improve combustion and then open the valve at higher engine speed to remove restriction.
    For an engine swap you can pin the valve open if it's not running an oem ecu and it acts like a normal intake.

    Been debating whether to go with a stroked sbf or a coyote swap in my fox in the near future because i was concerned about doing the swap but it seems like there is a huge amount of support for the swap these days. Will definitely reference this video when the time comes.

      A 393w swap has to be the easiest, cheapest way to go fast! Coyotes are awesome, but wide, expensive, and simply too expensive!! A 393, or jump to a 460 based motor is easier in foxes! You can make a fox fly with a 351w based motor!! The low end torque 385 series motors with heads, cam, intake is thousands of $$$ cheaper!! Far fewer parts to worry bout to boot! The Coyote is so wide you could put a 3rd series 521vin!!

      I've done 3 2300 4 banger and one of those little redheaded stepchild 6 cylinder swaps! With the 5 liter motor Mounts and crown vic oil pan its a drop in! I got lucky, scored a crown vic police motor, Mounts, alternator, power steering, air conditioner! A blind squirre can find a nut once in a lifetime!

    Once I've saved up, gonna use this to help try to put a coyote in my first gen ranger. I've already figured out the engine bay size problem, but that can't start until I'm finished turning the thing into a temporary daily driver. Would be pretty sweet to do this to a 70s crew cab tho....

    If I were 20 years younger I would take on this project. I seriously doubt anyone where I live would be able to do a job like this and get it right.

    Excellent video. Thinking of putting in a gen3 in my 93 fox. It has a twinturbo and and power glide in it. Want to reuse the power glide, and as money comes in I want to put a gen5 whipple on it. I am guessing the manual harness will work? Also any trouble with headers for the power glide and adapter, and I am figuring y'all would have a good fuel system for that upgrade.

      You are correct. The manual pcm setup.is the way to go. When you go gen 5 we will have those setups available with power steering. Header should not be an issue. It really depends on the kmember you are using.

    Excellent video on swapping the Coyote engine. I will be swapping a Coyote into my 69 Torino fastback, looking for an engine now. I'm unsure if I should go with an F150 engine or find a Mustang engine.

      If the budget is there we recommend scooping up a Mustang engine for sure. They typically have more upgrades and power right out of the box.
