    Fantastic and comprehensive PSA! You guys managed to do what few vendors are: make a reference video in which you also advertise your own products without being annoying salesmen. Instead of feeling like the video was made to sell products first, inform potential swappers/customers second or worse; it was 100% the other way around. Cheers and thanks, PBH!

    I plan on dropping a Gen 1 into my 1998 GT, would love to keep my 4r70w instead of having to buy a new transmission. People say LS swaps are cheap but you can easily find a Gen 1 in good shape for less than $4500 and I’m up here in Jacksonville where car parts within a 100 mile radius don’t last long, North Florida has their share of car enthusiasts 😂

    Having hard time finding motor mounts for Coyote. I have a ‘59 Fairlane it’s going into. Any suggestions? Thanks for this informative video!!! The part that really resonated (and reality checked) with me is what you want out of it. Is it a cruiser, car shows, etc? Are you just looking for long distance trips? Gen 1 and Gen 2 are just fine. That opened up so much more in my search that it doesn’t necessarily have to be a Gen 3. Subbed and followed!! Thank you guys for all that you do!

    Definitely good info. My son and I are about to start ordering all the goodies to start building a 23T Bucket kit from Speedway Motors; and so we have something totally different from what you see in the majority of those cars, do a coyote swap. I have a 2013 Ford F150 that may wind up being the donor or we are going to sell it and buy a newer Mustang Coyote and trans out of a wrecking yard with the ECM and wiring harness. The way it looks after watching this video we will mainly need a set of custom made roadster headers. Thanks for what you do!

    I have a 66 falcon that im building and had originally decided to go, LS, yes i was going to be an LS bro, I love fords but cant beat how the LS can make power in a small package. Ive since changed direction and scored a coyote 5.0. I am currently trimming the shock towers and adding bracing. I made a mock up motor out of thin wood panels. I am able to get 2 inches of clearance on both sides of the valve cover corners and widens back up from there down leaving plenty of room for headers. Have not gotten to the steering column yet. Baby steps.

    Btw, it's not a veritable runner intake, it's a charge motion control valve. It's basically a flap near the intake port that acts a little like a venturi in a carburetor. The idea being to enhance the air charge velocity at low engine speeds to improve combustion and then open the valve at higher engine speed to remove restriction.
    For an engine swap you can pin the valve open if it's not running an oem ecu and it acts like a normal intake.

I live in the middle of literally nowhere, and I'll be lucky enough to get my hands on a truck engine lol. In either instance, gen 1 Mustang manifolds are choice for panther swaps as far as I understand.

      Jeremy Gattenby I’m in the planning stages for a 69 Restomod build and after tons of research I found it to be just as expensive to put a coyote motor in the car. Both motors would require the same amount of work and are roughly the same cost/ power output. I’d love to have a twin turbo motor in my mustang but at this point I might as well do a coyote swap. With the coyote swap many have done it, many companies have parts for the swap, I can buy a wrecked gt to get many parts I’ll need compared to having to source a 3.5L, manual transmission and all the parts associated. I even have access to below market prices on the parts but it’s still about the same cost either direction. Might as well do a coyote swap then right?

      Saw Greater I love the Ecoboost motor. It delivers an amazing amount of torque. It’s light weight, efficient and quiet. Personally I prefer the coyote for a Mustang. It’s a 5.0, it’s got the hp and the muscle car sound. I say go Coyote but honestly, both drive great.

      A 393w swap has to be the easiest, cheapest way to go fast! Coyotes are awesome, but wide, expensive, and simply too expensive!! A 393, or jump to a 460 based motor is easier in foxes! You can make a fox fly with a 351w based motor!! The low end torque 385 series motors with heads, cam, intake is thousands of $$$ cheaper!! Far fewer parts to worry bout to boot! The Coyote is so wide you could put a 3rd series 521vin!!

    I wouldn’t even know where to start. My biggest mistake was not learning much about wiring. When I see a bunch of wires going everywhere I just give up. I’d love to have a COYOTE f100 and 6 speed but the jungle of wiring makes it impossible for me. I’m afraid to ask what it would cost to pay someone for a install
    I think a Edelbrock EFI system on a old motor would be next best thing. They really seem to work well at making the old motors more efficient. One guy with a 396 BBC went from 11mpg to 15.5mpg by the EFI swap alone. That’s a significant gain!!

    • @PowerByTheHourPerformance
      @PowerByTheHourPerformance  5 років тому

      Johnny, most swaps will consume about 100-120 hours to wire, install, and plumb a powertrain. That does not include frame modification if they are more than bolt like a fox chassis mustang. The f100 do have some killer swap options out there for suspension but shops like Fat Fender Garage have mounting kits for stock chassis. Mix that with our powertrain products and the swap becomes for of an installation then an exercise in figuring things out. The wiring for the powertrain is just about all plug and play for both manual and auto. So do not be afraid of that, we got you covered!

      @@PowerByTheHourPerformance Sounds great hopefully i can get it in time! I'll be def be doing a video with a thorough walk through since there is really not a single one on youtube for the s197 apart from Johnathan harder's GT and brenspeed's V6 but they don't go into much detail hands on doing the swap. Johnathan mentioned he used one of your control packs so that's what brought me here. It'd be cool to look back to this video and comment 6 months from now once my swap is done

    About to do a second gen coyote 6 speed swap out of a 2017 mustang into a 78 f100 custom step side. This was very informative on what will be needed to do so for the most part. Will most likely buy some of the components you offer to help with the swap.

    So the person that posted this seems really knowledgeable about engine swaps and mustangs specifically, I’m currently saving up to engine swap my v6 2000 auto mustang convertible, it was my first car so she means a lot to me, otherwise I’d just get a new mustang, would you recommend a coyote swap and a manual for this? I want something reliable, decently simple for a good shop to do, and potential for power because sometimes you can never get enough. I know it will be expensive for a shop to to any engine swap so if most are going to be around the $20k mark I was thinking go big or go home you know? Also extra note, I’d like AC, radio, power steering, and the rest of the luxury electronics running, but considering it’ll be a great sounding convertible I won’t need a lot of that if I’m being honest

    I agree 100 percent with using factory computers my son and l built a car and used a new style computerized engine and transmission,we used a popular aftermarket computer,and yes it runs well it will randomly loose tune and have to be retuned kinda a pain but that's the aftermarket for you lol 😆

    I have a square body GMC. I won't to put a coyote in it. Can I pull all the wiring harness out of a F150 from front bumper to the rear bumper and cooling system. And would that work? I am using the 6r80 transmission that came out of a F150 and engine too and the ECU and TCU. And I have the gas pedal too. What else do you think I need? And do I need a tune?

    • @PowerByTheHourPerformance

      It can be done that way. The best guidance we can offer is to try and use everything from the truck to ensure all systems will work. If anything is left u plugged you will get messages on the dashboard. Have not seen a c10 done like that and honestly not many have completed swaps like this.

    I have a 1956 F-100 the have a Chevy 350 engine swap and a turbo 300 transmission installation it has a 1969 Chevelle front clip. I would like to put the thread gen coyote with the 10-speed transmission. Can you give me some pointers what I will need to get the swap accomplish especially when it comes to engine mount

    • @PowerByTheHourPerformance
      @PowerByTheHourPerformance  4 роки тому

      Well that is an odd combo to try and fit the Coyote. Rule of thumb on fitment is that you need to target what is needed to put a Modular Ford V8 in that front clip. All the 4.6L, 5.4L, and 5.0L Modular engine family have very similar motor mount pads on the block. Now, I have never seen a Modular ford swapped Chevelle so I think we are entering custom motor mount territory for sure. Mount kits are out there for the modular fords so that is a start.
