I feel like I’m watching a legit high budget documentary everytime you post a video. It’s always incredibly captivating and interesting seeing the history of speedrunners because these wr holders are freaking machines. Summoning Salt thank you for putting these incredible people at display.
29:35 Even though we know he got the record, the choice of music and the timing of it at this moment really makes you feel like you aren't 100% sure on what had just happened, I imagine it kind of makes us feel like how andrewg felt in that moment even though we actually know what happened.
I love Kosmic's low key reaction after breaking the 19:00 barrier... and then as he rested his head on the back of his chair, I don't know why but that makes me so emotional. Great job, Kosmic!
The degree of analysis, discipline and perseverance that these speedrunners demonstrate "just to get a video game world record"... is it weird that I find it so inspiring? Every time I watch these world record progression videos I go away fully pumped to work on my day to day projects, feeling that I can conquer the world!

@bayj0nes the thrill you must feel trolling people that are making a simple analogy must mean you don't have much going on in your life. It's okay big man, you have validated yourself as a internet tough guy. I hope that distracted you from all your insecurities.
@SummoningSalt I’ve been watching your videos for a couple years now. Last night I had an all night marathon. Even though I used to play Tetris on the gameboy back in 91 I’m not the biggest fan of the game. So I didn’t think I’d be too into your Tetris video. But wow wasn’t wrong. It is truly a great vid. So I just want to say thank you for making these awesome videos documenting the progression of WRs in some of my favorite video games. You are an exceptional story teller. And that’s where your vids shine the brightest, your storytelling (the music bangs too). Thank you! Keep them coming.
Do the same thing over and over again and you will understand Speed running has its fun parts but it’s mostly just retrying from a simple mistake or RNG
Its all about goals Your goal at the start is to finish the game so if you do it perfectly (not dying) you are already good but if you're playing the game repeatedly with the goal of finishing it quicker and you did something slower, you suck Idk why i had to make an essay
Kosmic : *beats world record* Also Kosmic : "Damn I suck at this game" It is truly impressive how invested in the sub 19 goal he was, to the point that he was disappointed upon beating his best time and seeing it as a failure. That's perseverance and dedication right there if I ever saw it
It's so easy to sleep to these videos. They aren't boring, they're just so relaxing and informative that I can drift off and watch them again and again.

the music too. I think this channel can be a huge inspiration, just because it gives me the 2009 text only videogames explanations vibes, like the smash movesets ones.
I don't speedrun. I don't even like speedruns that much. But I love this channel.
His secret? Voice and music ;)
I second that.
I feel like I’m watching a legit high budget documentary everytime you post a video. It’s always incredibly captivating and interesting seeing the history of speedrunners because these wr holders are freaking machines. Summoning Salt thank you for putting these incredible people at display.
I come back every now and then to hear the intro music just to feel something
**HOME - We're finally landing music plays**
Ah shit, here we go again!
Haha
Yeah, the song used to be special, but now it's everywhere.
Lovro Planinšek yeah
29:35 Even though we know he got the record, the choice of music and the timing of it at this moment really makes you feel like you aren't 100% sure on what had just happened, I imagine it kind of makes us feel like how andrewg felt in that moment even though we actually know what happened.
Me: Time for sleep
*Summoning Salt video*
Me: I could do another hour.
I sleep to summoning salts vids
I love Kosmic's low key reaction after breaking the 19:00 barrier... and then as he rested his head on the back of his chair, I don't know why but that makes me so emotional. Great job, Kosmic!
Legend has it that summoning salt returns every 2 months
"To understand Summoning Salt's upload schedule, imagine a bus."
@@rtg_onefourtwoeightfiveseven I agree
Alex M. Comedy gold right there
Could be considered 3 months I guess
summoning summoning salt
Missed you bro
For some reason I really like these videos even though I'm not into speedruns at all
Same
Blackie Black Salt, Jon Bois and EmpLemon’s ‘Never Ever’ are the comfiest, most aesthetic videos on the Internet

The degree of analysis, discipline and perseverance that these speedrunners demonstrate "just to get a video game world record"... is it weird that I find it so inspiring? Every time I watch these world record progression videos I go away fully pumped to work on my day to day projects, feeling that I can conquer the world!
Watching Darbian and Kosmic grind out WR makes me begin to consider speedrunning as a viable form of cardio
"Turns out, they're not so random after all"
*the framerule system*
Not again... I'm not strong enough..
*You feel your speedruns crawling on your back.

What if the bus starts in 2nd gear 🤔
@@Zazzaro703 but is the bus wearing lucky underwear and is the bus' favorite ref there
I needed this...my subscription feed was looking a little dry today
Same here lol, I'm subbed to many channels but the last couple days been so dry. And then all of the sudden a new video from one of my top-3 😁
Love these videos. Basically gaming documentaries. Would love to see a Windwaker WR progression (original or HD)
not trying to fuck with summoningsalt here, but linkus7 did a wind waker hd any% world record progression, might want to check that out its a great video
Summoning wouldn’t do a Zelda speedrun he has never done it but I’ve seen some out there my favorites were windwaker and oot
@@salt1478 Why not? They're very prolific speedruns. Especially Ocarina of Time.
awesome astronaut I completely agree with you but summoning stays a little more to other franchises I know there are other speedrun docs but they would never be as good unless summoning made them.
summoning salt: "SMB1 checks for completion every 21-"
me, immediately: "B U S"
There should be a speedrun for dying at the first Goomba. So I can finally feel successful.
I'm almost sure there is (really) this category in Super Mario World :D try it
nah, knowing speedrunners, they'd find the "empty space skip" or something to skip having to travel the distance to the goomba lol
There are actually three categories under the SMB Goomba spedrun: 100%, blindfolded and deathless. They say that deathless is impossible, but you know what they say about speedrunners...
You wouldn’t be the fastest, so you would not be succesful anyway...
Sadly you would also lose to that as well. Makes you realize even you failing isnt as good as others.
Summoning Salt is the only channel on UA-cam that makes me cry tears of joy. The style of narration and music choices are just perfect.
How the hell can a speedrunning youtuber make u cry tears of joy
I said why already, the narration and music is on fucking point.
Bruh moment
I agree with everything but he uses “we’re finally landing” too much
"Thanks for watching"
No, thank you for this quality content, you never fail to disappoint
Ummm... you just thanked him for always disappointing you??
huh? what? i am not disappointed
Never fails = always successful. Never fails to disappoint you = always successful in disappointing you.
honestly though your refusal to fix it is inspiring.
@Daniel GRAINGER 382
Great video, brother!
Such a cozy channel just makes me wanna wrap up in a blanket and sit in front of a fireplace
very fitting username :3
This is a very accurate way to summarize how I feel about this channel! I've never been able to put in words but you did it!
Mood, I used his videos to fall asleep more than once, it's great
I can totally relate to that.
Literally watching to have the sound to fall asleep while power is out
AndrewG in 2017:
"I'M STILL WORTHY!"
Meanwhile: Andrew can play Mario with his legs while juggling
It's like Christmas morning when Summoning Salt posts a 45 minute video.
@bayj0nes the thrill you must feel trolling people that are making a simple analogy must mean you don't have much going on in your life. It's okay big man, you have validated yourself as a internet tough guy. I hope that distracted you from all your insecurities.
I didn’t notice it was 45 minutes until now. Thank you.
I love the passion and tireless dedication these people have for some of the greatest games ever made. So inspiring
you know it's a good day when you see a summoning salt video in your sub box
Using a pipe, programmed in to the game by the devs, that uses no glitches, is banned by Twin Galaxies? What a joke.
Lmao
Its Twin Galaxies, what did you expect?
I guess it was considered a "warp"
@@PokeMario-pk4ot Well the pipe doesn't say "Welcome to warp zone 1-1.5" on it"
Guess it was because they didn't want the runners to skip half of the first level or something
That's just really stupid
You know you'll get the world record if you're wearing your penguin hat.
@Gamey Firebro i have no clue.
Me when I don’t die in a game: “I’m pretty good at this game”.
40:49
WR holder messing up once: “Dude, I suck!”
Yeah, the same I thought... how can he consider he sucks when... HE IS LITERALLY 1 FRAME AWAY FROM A TOP-TIER NEVER-SEEN-BEFORE WORLD RECORD
The first part made me think of Dark Souls 2’s gank army of enemies, yet its my favorite game for lore and bosses (Fume Knight, Burnt Ivory King)
Do the same thing over and over again and you will understand
Speed running has its fun parts but it’s mostly just retrying from a simple mistake or RNG
That wasn't his first and last mistake
Its all about goals
Your goal at the start is to finish the game so if you do it perfectly (not dying) you are already good but if you're playing the game repeatedly with the goal of finishing it quicker and you did something slower, you suck
Idk why i had to make an essay
Kosmic: * gets world record *
Also Kosmic: "Dude, I suck."
Kosmic after failing became Cosmic
Kosmic : *beats world record*
Also Kosmic : "Damn I suck at this game"
It is truly impressive how invested in the sub 19 goal he was, to the point that he was disappointed upon beating his best time and seeing it as a failure. That's perseverance and dedication right there if I ever saw it
@@sephikong8323 cause I want to read it!

It's so easy to sleep to these videos. They aren't boring, they're just so relaxing and informative that I can drift off and watch them again and again.
Bump. Exactly what happened to me right now. He has a special narrator voice and the synth in the background is just incredible
This is literally speed running documentary ASMR and I love every second of it. I've been doing the same thing with the last 3 episodes, too.

welp time for another Hollywood-level documentary on speedruns
Nathan Silas except it costs less to see a better performance
The great thing is that this comment is totally unironic. The author ought to be very proud of these docs. :)
That's a fact. A major studio would be lucky to hire him to make documentaries for them
Been going back and watching salts vids once a week in isolation. His voice, tone, pacing is all perfect. I hope he continues to put out videos at this unmatched quality for years to come. Perhaps he will do some less known communities soon.
I don’t even play Mario, I don’t care about Mario. But when summoning salt hits you with a 45 minute speed run documentary, you drop everything and you watch it
