- Cincinnati Zoo Scientists Find Mineral Content in Rhino Horns Unlikely to Provide Human Health Benefits. A recent study led by scientists from Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden’s Lindner Center for Conservation & Research of Endangered Wildlife (CREW) indicates that any mineral-related benefits or risks to human health following ingestion of rhino horn products would likely be inconsequential. Evidence that the horns do not contain material with medicinal value could help reduce demand for rhino horns which would deter poaching, giving the species at serious risk of extinction a better chance of survival.

Well done! This is great information. Too bad you couldn’t come up with proof that rhino horn is bad for human consumption. More than likely anyone who swears the horn has a good effect on them is experiencing a mental improvement. Leave our endangered animals alone!

I really wish it was about the chemical content of the horn, because misapprehensions like that can be corrected. You can't correct magical thinking with facts though, that takes generational change in attitude and education. My respect goes out to the great people at Cincinnati Zoo who are aiding in the conservation of these beautiful creatures threatened by human stupidity.

The problem is the people who wanna use these horns aren’t interested in the scientific properties, to some people it’s more of a spiritual thing where taking the horn gives you the strength of a rhino, which is even more absurd than thinking there’s actual medicinal benefits.

Изменить мышление таких людей невозможно, единственный способ защитить носорогов - это хорошая охрана в национальных парках и ужесточение законодательства.
