Wow, 2 years it took to find a video that can actually help me. You, sir, are a guru of the tC thanks for this help. I have the exact same issue and couldn't find anyone that new gow to remove the glass. Im gonna have to force the belt back in like you did to get access to screws to remove the glass.
Thanks for making this video. Just did this to my 2006 TC. It was a royal PITA to get the old one out of mine since it's a Florida car (heat damaged). Not only were the flex tracks in the corners fractured to pieces but the white toothed plastic track itself was crumbling apart. If you buy one of these on ebay, be sure to ask the seller if the flex tracks are in good shape. Those black covers you mention at about 8:50 and again at 10:05 were also broken on mine. Near as I can tell they're just cosmetic to hide the mechanism so I left mine out. Seems to work fine without them. Oh, and that's not a hex head screw, but a T25 Torx bit, same as the screws which hold the glass down. And one more thing, if you disconnect the battery on a TC, you have to re-train both the power windows and the moonroof for the automatic functions to work right. (learned that the hard way) Here's a video on that: ua-cam.com/video/xjFskeezk-I/v-deo.html
Clean your rails. Especially clean & lube the wind deflector rails. There are two points to lube. One is a hole in the rail slightly above the main hinge and the other is just behind the wind deflector glass ..... that one is easy to access with the sunroof open.
Thank you. My 2009 had side curtain air bags instead of the honey comb structure. They hide a couple of bolts that need to come off in order to remove the bracket holding the sunscreens. Disconnected the battery just to be safe.
Instead of taking everything apart like I did n process of eliminating, try disconnecting the battery letting it sit for a day to reset the CPU n connect n try it. Mine was stopping a quarter away from closing n would never close to a certain point n now I'm good
I havent been too bold enough to open it that much, but the time i did open it , the hinges that lets its spring open were getting stuck n needed assistance. But as of now its staying closed lol
Hello great video I installed one as well but after I was done I noticed that there is wind noise when in motion . It looks like it's closing well but the wind noise continues and it didn't happen before. I read online about resetting it but it doesn't seem to be working. Do you have any ideas ?
So there is wind noise while roof is open and car is driving? Or when roof is closed and car is driving? Either way I’d check the trim at the top of the windshield first.
@@DebtFreeCars i found part at junk yard but they said is better to buy the complete glass and that it will be easier. Thx i guess I'll get the whole part

Thanks for the tip on resetting the windows I thought the switch was bad and bought another one but same issue. So I gave up
Been looking for a walkthrough of this for years
Ya it’s not as hard as it looks. Just careful with the glass and put things back in the same order.

My sunroof works again and it’s thanks to you. Cheers!

This advice just helped me! Thanks!
Is it possible to make it a manual sunroof? Only if it's easy to open and close manually.
Where did you buy your new glass from?
Where is this new kit on eBay? Anybody have a link?

@@DebtFreeCars yea I did . I am not sure what's the issue.
how many screws did you take off on each side in total?
Sorry don’t remember
can you replace the tracks if the sunroom doesn't open??
No. You need to buy the entire assembly.
I broke the rails on both sides
Can’t find the rails anywhere
Any suggestions where I can find them ?
The unit comes together with two rails and the motor. There’s a link in the comments for buying it on ebay. Otherwise junkyard
@@DebtFreeCars do you know if i can put the middle part with rails without having to take the whole thing off?
@@djgq1007 no parts are all plastic. So you can’t remove it without damaging the plastic.

@@djgq1007 oh sorry. You don’t need the glass but you need everything else.
