@@igotnoodlesgold9193 it's because they are cheap and easy to control so the average white suburban daughter and grandma and pull out of a fish tail in the winter, they make more money that way
Fun fact: On the 1st gen’s you could remove the headrests and fold the front seats 100% flat, then recline the rear seats in order to create a makeshift “bed”. Scion called it a “social space”, and I definitely used it to “socialize” with a few young ladies. The 2nd Gen tC’s lost the feature for safety reasons.
I have a 2011 tc that I’ve put 198,000 miles on. Zero problems. I sometimes get asked “is it fast” and I just laugh and tell them with “no, it’s just a two door Camry that handles a little better”. You nailed the video.
I just wished Celicas didn’t have that head gasket or oil burning issue, or I’d get one of those and these right beside it. I always considered the tC as a type of Celica-successor. Maybe instead of touring coupe, its stands for: the Celica 😂
@@salgilead2801 it currently sits at 147,000 and still runs like a dream. 0 issues on my car and i still get happy when i walk into the parking lot and see it cleaned and shined.
@@nomadnorbert bro I’m watching this and my dad let me have his manual 2015 scion tc if I learned it, I did and have been loving it, takes me where I have to go and I like how it looks 🙌
So I’m a Toyota fanboy, but I bought my first tC at 36 yrs old, I can fit all three of my teenage boys and still have room for my daughter. You were on the money about the Si being the target, that’s my goal is to build it up to handle an Si of the same year.
i got my first car in august, a 2014 tc and it will never stop making me happy. it sounds amazing, handles amazing, and the sound system is phenomenal for stock.
It's even better upgraded. The fact that it has provision for a 3 way setup in the front door from factory is great. I stripped the interior, put sound deadening all over, upgraded all the speakers and new wiring, couple amps and a 10" sub and ha e an amazing sounding system for under $1500.
The TC is possibly the most perfect little all around daily driver you can get. Good mpg, they just run forever and are very easy to work on. Parts readily available and inexpensive, booming stereo, good handling, and they aren't loaded with a bunch of unnecessary electronic bulltish
the stereo is honestly the achilles heel of the car lol my grandma's 2000 buick lesabre had a sound system that was like 5x better. put out WAY more bass, was capable of much higher volume without distorting sound quality, and the clarity of the speakers was far superior. and they were bose speakers/subwoofers that were 6yrs older than the TC i own. only thing better about the TC sound system is that i can plug my phone in for music.
I've got a 2013 Scion tC, absolutely love the car. I've had thoughts about selling it lately but I've just landed myself a nice paying job, and I plan on manual swapping it and finally making it into what I've wanted.
Bought my tC back in 2015, to this day I love it! It’s now on bags, new wheels, tsudo exhaust, lip kit, and other minor cosmetic upgrades. Not fast, but very stylish, reliable, affordable, and fun to drive. I even get compliments and appreciation at car meets! 🤙🏼 Appreciate this video! I appreciate the tC love
That's awesome to hear yours gets compliments and appreciation at meets, I really like the Scion Tc but have sadly seen a lot of hate for it online, so it's always nice to see it getting some love. What year is yours out of curiosity?
I wanted a tc since 2011 and I finally got one last week. It’s a manual with 100,000 miles and so far no complaints. Can’t wait for the summer to start adding in my sounds, wheels redo the tints darker and see what els comes up..
Just got a 2010 tc manual a couple months ago. Found a trd exhaust on offer up used for $240. Honestly a super fun daily driver that you can throw around. Took it to the canyons a couple times and it kept up with cars well above its weight class.
I'm not here to sh!t on scions but this is just straight BS man come on. The tC doesn't even keep up with a stock Mazda3, whether on winding canyon roads or in a straight line. 28 likes....28 people who are in denial that their car is booty slow lol. To "throw around" that thing you have to be flooring the throttle constantly. The manual trans helps a little bit in certain situations. That TuRD exhaust sounds like rice dookie too.
ah don't throw it around :) its so misunderstood lol I just found one 2009 one owner 70K miles I wasn't looking for this type of car but my neighbor is selling it. I'm watching this video bc I am cluesless I just know I see them on the road with some young drivers. But have no idea on it's reliability or anything about this car. For a daily driving car I don't mind it but it's a bit too low for my taste.
I have two Scion tCs and I love them. My wife daily drives a 2006 with 285k on it and I daily drive a 2005 with 250k on it. Some minor issues here and there but they are so reliable and kind of fun to drive. You nailed the video about them because its basically what we tell everyone when they ask why we have two of them.
I'm looking into buying a 06 tc.... little over 1k miles.... for bout 6... do you recommend? Honestly, I don't have the full so I'm going with a monthly 😬. I just wanna get some advice before committing.
I love this video it really helped me understand the history of these cars. I’m 27 and have had 5-6 mustangs now, had all kinds of 4cyl cars when I was a teenager. But now I just purchased a 14 Tc as a second car to daily while my mustang GT stays the summer car. This will be my first Scion and I’m hella stoked!! Have mods ready to add.
I cut the muffler off my 2012 and it sounds insane! Not too loud, not too quiet. The fact that it's slow lets you do a little pull without breaking the speed limit. Amazing little car
I have a 2015 tC. It's slow as molasses. Nice tires can help, but it's just a slow car. Slower than the 2017 Fiat 124 I had, which is slower than an MX-5. 🤣
Man, thank you for giving this hidden jewel it's props. As an owner presently of two generations of tCs(2009 and'15, auto and 6-speed, respectively)and previous owned camrys, corolla gt-s, and tundras, and I can sincerely say this car is the best auto toyota has ever made for the money. Easiest car to work on and is quicker than your fastest SUV you see dominating the streets these days. I am currently shopping for a FR-S in 2015 of later years and in a 6 speed. Truly a winner.
Bought a 2011 tC two years ago and i absolutely loved it. Unfortunately last year l totaled it, however for the 10 months I owned it drove over 13,000 miles. That car was AMAZING on gas, deleted the resonator to give it some sound, had a panoramic sunroof, and was able to mod it to my liking. In the future I’ll definitely purchase another one as it’s one of my favorite cars to this day.
I bought my 2008 scion TC during COVID summer 2020 when I was 37 for $1400 off my friend who just left it sitting in his drive way. It’s 2022 and I am still in love with it. The reliability of this car and the drive feel is insane. I installed a Sony touchscreen head unit and new JBL speakers and I just love this car. Won’t ever sell it. Toyota made a unsung hero with this car.
I never thought I'd end up with a Scion, but back in May I picked up a 2013 tC Release Series 8.0 and I'm absolutely in love with it. It's not a "sports car" by any means but it's certainly a "sporty car" and the added special features i.e., black interior with red accents, bright red paint, exclusive FiveAxis body kit, etc. makes it feel like something truly special. I'd love a '17-20 BRZ, but for now this will certainly do! It's also a 6-speed MT, a really good car to learn manual on. Cool video by the way, always nice to see love for the Scion brand 👍
I started dailying my ‘06 Scion tC a couple weeks ago. The 2.4l is sitting on 140k, and she runs like a dream. It handles *extremely* well, and the 5-speed transmission is holding up really nicely. Only thing I don’t like is that mine was bought from factory without a spoiler, I think the back looks a little odd when it’s flat, though it’s not particularly expensive to get a factory style one.
Got a 06 with 103k myself although I have the 4spd. Like you said I'm honestly amazed with how it handles, and the 4spd is far from the worst out there. Mine also doesn't have a spoiler but I want to get one in the future too. I love it though and wouldn't have anything else as my first car.
Surprisingly no. I’m pretty gentle with it though lol. Given I know Prius’s of the same era are prone to the same issue with that, seems like it was (even if in small part) a Toyota issue at the time.
Current owner of a Series 10.0 Gen 2.5 here and past Gen 2. Definitely this car has a lot going for it. Everyone I talked to always mentions it has stupid amount of cargo space and the moon roof is great for those date nights. Overall the 2AR-FE is a good engine and the car can do a lot of minor hauling. Again we have to see if they will become a thing like the civics or integras of the past. All and all, Toyota should of brought it back to its lineup as the new Toyota Celica in 2017.
All in all, not all and all. And should've, not should of. It's a contraction of should and have. Should of is nonsensical. That said, I have a 2015 tC. It's an excellent car.
I hope youre in high school because you're delusional if you think any grown woman is going on a date with a guy who drives this car lmao "those date nights", truly spoken like a dude who has never been on a single date. I think the only other time I've heard that phrase was from the lovely Paki gentleman who tried to sell me a car with a moonroof once. He also didn't seem like he got a lot of attention from the ladies.
I felt that same way! Toyota should’ve brought the tC over and made slight upgrade. It’s ridiculous they chose the last two models for Scion then switched for Yaris 🥱🥱🥱 The Gt86 was already there so they dropped the ball on hanging up the tC. Mind you the Lexus RC had the tC body & everything
I love my ‘09. 220k on the dash. Not the fastest but still a little quick and super reliable. I’m not looking toward to people realizing how good they are and these becoming sought after and mark up the resell price.
@@camkarting13 It’s a t3/t4 maxxpeedingrods turbo setup on 9psi making around 280-300whp. Self tuned with an apexi neo afc. Only advice I would give for boosting these cars is to make sure you open the motor and put either bigger head bolts or arp head studs, our engines (2azfe) are known for the head bolts getting loose and the head starts to lift. That’s what happened to me so when anyone asks me about it that’s the only advice I can give. Everything else is solid runs great no issues. Super fun car
I have a 2014 scion tc series 10 and it is absolutely perfect. Has enough power to get off the line at a red light and a ton of room. I have never owned a car that legitimately does not need oil every couple of months, its been almost a year and still doesn't need oil. Nice job on the deep dive, this car definitely slipped under the radar on how crazy reliable it is.
Thanks! I own a scion TC myself and I can tell that everything that you said was true, and I learn much more thing! I have the last generation that they have sale in Canada (2016) and it's a very nice car. It dosen't need to be modified too much to look cool, just leave it the way it is and it's good! The sound is great and it comfortable to drive!
I recently let go of my 14 Scion Tc Manual a few months ago because I got offered a great deal on it. The TC is the most slept on car of the last 20years. In stock form it has an amazing sound system, panoramic sun roof, and ok suspension. I threw on TRD lowering springs and the car behaved amazing, it would lift off over steer on the corners and stay flat. I would easily smoke corvette, Camaros, Miata, S2000, and WRX at my local autocross with just lowering springs and tires. Everyone thought I was highly modified but I was practically stock and kicking everyone’s ass. The stock sway bars are nice and thick for a stock car at 21mm. I hope the new owner enjoys my old TC. It is an amazing entry level daily. Lastly it is extremely practical being a hatch back, and the rear seats even recline! I’m in a BMW now but young kids in high school or college should totally have one of these reliable cars on their shopping list. This cars only fault is that it doesn’t have high Hp numbers on paper but that doesn’t mean it is slow and that doesn’t mean it is boring. It is quick enough to still put a smirk on your face. Just be sure to get the manual if you can find one, the manual is quicker and really wakes up the engine. One last thing I want to say is that the car is super simple to work on, this makes it an amazing first sports car for young guys trying to learn to crank a wrench. Nothing about it is super intimidating and there is plenty of online resources on how to maintain them. TC was never trying to be the fastest, it was trying to be an amazing daily and it was a huge success in that aspect. Don’t sleep on these if you are considering one.
i had a tc, traded it for my car now my 86, but a part of me still misses that car, the reliability, the space, the comfort, it was a great car and i hope to one day one another one
For the last 4 years of my relationship my girlfriend hasn't understood why I love my 88 rx7 in my driveway sitting in pieces, why I keep fixing my old truck and putting cool shit on them. she recently bought a 2013 tc and is now looking at front lips, wheels, lowering spring, she sits in the driveway staring at it and finally understands. Thanks scion 👍. Even though her car is auto I really like it and wouldn't mind getting myself a standard to daily.
I enjoyed this video a lot! I recently had a Tc but got into an accident with it just a couple days ago… I’ve been crying about it none stop cause I did so much to it. It looked so cool and a lot of people complemented me on it. It did it’s job of keeping me safe tho :)
As someone who has had an RS7 since 2014 and ran a major scion club I love mine but the community just sucks now. Was really cool to see a lot of my friends cars featured in this video though
I love my tC! People hate on me for making content about my tC but honestly as someone who switch from an FRS to a tC I don’t regret my decision at all
@@Vykk_DraygoI mean it's really not 😅 it's DIFFERENT sure but definitely not superior. I picked my tC over the FRS/GR86 when I had the money to get either. I'll pick a Toyota with stylish looks, great cargo room, beefy torque, and bulletproof reliability over a boxer any day of the week.
Ive had a 2012 Scion Tc for the past 5 years with now 138k miles. Only major problem ive had is the need to replace the clutch for the manual. These motors are good for up to 400hp with a turbo on stock internals and are shifting to a “cheaper” alternative to the K series since the Camry engines are dirt cheap. NA boltons can get you 200hp fairly easily so it can be fun and quick enough to beat your occasional bseries honda and even an acura rsx from a dig. Super fun cars that i believe will come back after people realize the fun to price ratio and how much you can do to them if you do your research
like I dont get why people hate the TC I own a 2006 Scion TC and I do and do not love it and yes im being honest but its okay because its my first car for an 18 year old myself and still got a lot to learn.
Tc 2.5 owner here. I can in fact say I agree with this. Still get a bunch of hate at car meets but others love the car. Safety wise it’s great. Just hydroplaned pretty bad. Slid across the highway into a grass ditch, spun 180 three times, hit a cement drain, and landed inches away from oncoming traffic on the other side. All that’s messed up is the subframe, bumper, rad support, and condenser. It could have been so much worse especially if I was in my old cars (lancer or celica). Things a tank. Mechanically speaking it’s got almost 160k and all I’ve had to fix before the accident was the pcv (common problem) and a sway bar link.
I’ve got me a 2013 Scion tC 8.0 and I absolutely love it even after 10 years the paint looks amazing the car runs like new and it has one of the easiest engines to work on
Finally, someone who truly understands! I have been saying this for a quite a while now... "The Scion tC is the new Honda Civic". Reliability, versatility, styling, handling, and lots of unlocked potential. Underdog.
The tC2 is such a nice car. In the modern era, that flat roof is SO iconic. It gives a really underrated retro look to the car! Not to mention those thick rear fenders and angular cues just make it a head turner imo. I have a 2013 and nothing brings me as much joy than the cool driver angled center control and flat bottom steering wheel. I really do think the tC doesn't deserve the negative rep it gets, speed isn't everything. I personally picked my tC over the FR-S because what it lacks in speed it makes up for in reliability, utility, looks, and a really nice low end torque that makes literally going anywhere an absolute blast.
I haven't been in many cars, but tC meaning "touring coupe" is spot on. To this day, the first gen tC is the only couple that I can sit behind the front seats with them adjusted for myself, and my 6'1 300lb ass is comfortable. Head BARELY brushing the ceiling, knees only slightly spread to not jam into the back of the front seats, and ankles NOT cramped. And that's in a car that HAS a sunroof. Did I mention that the sunroof doesn't make the roof too low for the driver and front passenger, either? And the second gen tC is just a bit bigger. The whole car was scaled up directly proportionally from a 25" diameter tire to a 26" diameter tire. With that I didn't even have to spread my legs, and I had about 2 inches of headroom sitting behind the front seats when they were adjusted to me. The 2nd gen tC even upped the ante with the sound-system by having a factory 3-way component setup, meaning each door had 3 different kinds of speakers in them, allowing for a more even and broad frequency response without any beaming. Man, I want another tC... Just not another first gen, and especially not an 08-10... Fuck that oil consumption issue. And 5x100 pattern wheels. And measly 25" tires.
9:48 This is a stock header on 05's and 06's by the way. It's UEL on one primary tube, while the other three are equal-length. For comparison, a Subie Rumble header would be UEL on TWO primary tubes, either left/right pairs, or alternating pairs (every other cylinder). They changed it to all equal length in 07+ IIRC.
People especially in the car scene hate tC's because I have no idea I guess since they're not fast but people bag on them, I have a 2014 tC and its my baby and lets not forget its still a Toyota that last forever if you take care of it, But once you fix one up it looks sick and I'm always getting good compliments on my tC, Its a fun car to own and if you can find one and they are cheap to buy now I highly recommend to own one.
Same with the frs, the age demographic they were going for were 18-25 but the 1st 2 years sales were bad, and now we see them everywhere, I owned a 2013 frs and out of the 3 cars I owned that one was my favorite!
my 2011 is my daily driver - and let me say this is a super fun & reliable car. It is also a great little canyon car especially with some suspension upgrades.
Bought an 09 tC with 120K miles for $1,800. I've taken it on a few trips to and put almost 10k miles on it in 6 months. Extremely reliable car and great on gas.
I got a tc, I'm 28 and it's honestly not a happy car to drive bc everyone hates it. But I got a iron manifold and a turbo at 6psi and people still hate my car bc noone wanted it. Its literally sub 3k weight car with modern luxuries. Hard to modify honestly but at the track I get to be at a miata and civic class
I just commute in my 06 and tbh don’t really care what others on the road think. I paid $2000 cash for it when some people are financing 3 years of their income on a vehicle. Plus, it gets twice the gas milage of my (also paid off) 01 F-150.
ty. 1st gen original owner here, 17 years and still running strong. 2 accidents, no damage that wasn't superficial. took 16 years for the stock POS clutch to give. love the tc because it's the closest thing we'll ever get to a new celica. absolutely despise Toyota for not grandfathering it into the line up OVER THE Ai?? So, with being said, I was gonna get the new corolla but the clutch is electronic and defeats the whole purpose for me. got a wrx and couldn't be happier
I had a first gen tC for two months before a drunk driver hit it, and I absolutely loved that car, other than its wreck I had no issues with it and I’m planning on looking at a tC2 this week
The amount of Mark Roden videos I had to watch to finally find the car I want to save up for is immeasurable but I finally found it after 3 days of blasting through content I’ve decided on the Audi S4
i have a 2016 and as of Jan 2024 it has 240k miles on it and it's running perfectly. Super fun in the canyons of norther arizona. not the fastest i've owned but by far the best all around fun reliable daily driver.
I had the last year model, 2016, installed a Borla axle back exahust and Marquee black wheels. I ended trading it up for a Mazda3 2018 Touring 2.5. God knows I love to drive the Mazda, it's quicker, better handling, better suspension, better transmission, better dynamics... But for some reason, I can't stop missing my tC and sometimes I just wish I didn't have to change it. If I could, I'll just get it back.
I really like the TC. The 2013 and earlier. I can't stand that weird thing they did with the bumper/ headlights on the newer ones. Only thing stopping me is the problems with the manual trans. Worried about it blowing up and not being able to find another one. Other than that I'd have one already. I wanted to turbo one as well.
This was a great video my man you definitely seem to understand the marketing schemes behind good quality vehicles and what makes them desirable. It was great!
I got my used 2013 tC bout 8yrs ago with 36K mi on it (now 101K) when I was starting college and have loved it ever since, its interesting the "t" stands for touring. Now I'm definitely not one to do these custom tire and body mods. Its a very underrated car, people are always shocked by how much room there is in the back once the back seats are down. The seats mostly stay down and only come up for the very rare occasion 2-3 people are riding with me. Since I use it for hauling airsoft gear (and sometimes sleeping overnight in it) at events, or when I go on drives and spend the night in a Walmart parking lot, I'm now looking into upgrading it into a convertible camper-ish vehicle when needed.
I currently have a 2008 scion TC with a factory TRD supercharger I love this car and the way it looks. I had it dyno and is putting out 200hp, they only made 2300 of this model, and my TC is 636 on the line. The supercharger was also pretty reliable and super easy to work on however, tuning is a little harder. I have tried racing it and it's not the fastest at least on paper, but if you know how to drive and take corners you can take a few people to gapple-bees because of how light it is and how it handles. but in all fairness it Camry with a supercharger that drives like a Miata, a great project car, and daily.
I had basically the best tC you could possibly get. It was the face-lifted 2014 LOADED! It had some package that I can't remember the name of, but it had every option and it even had LEATHER seats! Heated, leather seats I shit you not. Plus it had sat-nav, and of course it had the rear wing and all the other little stuff. I really enjoyed it for the time I had it. I always thought it would be totally sick to pick one up dirt cheap and make it a project car and do an AWD system out of a Rav-4 or something, and of course boost it to the moon. Basically what the new Corolla GR is now.
Id want one with mods am considering. It’s possible to switch to awd on it? I thought of that. It would be nice with awd or rwd setup (if that one is possible or decent on it too)
I feel the same way about my 2012 9.0 RS Scion xB. Just in case you wanted to know "Chaser Racer" has a 550hp xB that smokes Hellcats in the 1/4. Right here on UA-cam and a daily driver.. The more people hate Scion the more I like 👍 them..
The tC was supposed to be called the xC but volvo. It was more car than the celica for less money. 160hp wasn't bad considering the civic Si and lancer ralliart had 160 also.
love my 06 scion tc still have it since 09 to now. this car is super reliable and i had no problems with it at all… only did normal maintenance, change oils and tires. i think only thing that died on my car was the starter getting old. it had a lot of room for a 2door. plus i can use the back trunk for lots of stuff. still driving it today really love this car
I'm debating if I should get into a monthly with this? 06 tc, 108tho miles, bout 6tho. My credit is not great and I don't have 6 on me. Should I go for it, do I expect this car to out live the lease? I just need to get to work 😬
I loved this video, and I agree with you, this is my first car, I’ve only owned it for a month and I’m absolutely in with this car, I don’t think I ever want to upgrade to a modern car… I only wish it was faster😅 07 tc❤
Ugh, I love my 1st Gen TC. I'm in the market to buy another used vehicle only bc my now TC body needs work, lol. A bit beat up. But...man, it has been so low-maintenance, close to 200K, and only have done about 4K work on it in the last, I would say 8 years. I also purchased it super used from a friend whose brother had owned it while he was in college, and he's not a shy little guy; he lived life in that thing, I found things inside that car I want to forget. Anyway...I love TCs now; needless to say, It has been so reliable, and it does burn oil well above its time at this point, but aside from that. This video may just have convinced me to look into 2nd Gen TC. Great video, btw!
i would say if you want a tc get the 2 gen or one after 09 the first gen engines burns a lot of oil now. i have a 07 and a put half a quart a week in to it, but i love it, i hit the gas pedal hard and it feels like your going mock 10 but really your going just as fast as the van next to you maybe a mile or two faster but a fun go to work car and have a project car for your second car.
I own an 05 with factory leather which is pretty rare. I absolutely love the car. I have a nice Nissan Titan but got the tC for gas mileage since I drive a lot for my business. My friend an older gentleman like me gave me a hell of a deal on it. Got a lot of car with crazy low miles, leather, 18” wheels and a TRD cat back for $3,500.
Just bought my 16 year old a 06 TC that has the TRD exhaust!!! It has 116k miles and he loves it and his friends love it. And if it is truly a Camry engine then it is a lock for lasting
I found mine online (white 2010, tinted windows, aftermarket antenna), we went to the dealership and I test drove. I’m 6’ tall but with the sun roof there’s just enough head room. Everyone says it’s “so cute”, maybe, but I don’t wanna hear that. I really love the speakers and panoramic sunroof but my favorite part is the shape of it. I researched some tips on the car and I changed the welcome text on my radio, found the hidden handle for the very heavy hatch, found the rear dome light and in the glove box there’s even a special place for my gum! Idk if it was intentional but I have an iPhone 11 in a thick case and it fits perfectly in the cubby by the cigarette lighter. It has zero rust and it’s so clean. The only thing I’ll do is get some wind deflectors, and a random Japanese sticker because aesthetics. My only real concern is who is translating these stickers? It could say “This is a very cute car!” And that would be just terrible. People can think whet they want but at the end of the day I have a reliable car that looks interesting, has a panoramic sunroof, and costs less than any civic of the same year.
I own a 15' TC and will be paid off very soon. I was 30 when I purchased this car. And even if the car wasn't fast, the build and design was great. I bought this car because it had a lot of interesting designs throughout the whole body. The interior design is the most impressive of all(cheap materials, but hey, its an econo-box). Something about having a low roof line and a high center console really feels like I'm driving a tank to and from places, lol. Some whom ride in the car with me ask if the touch screen display was standard. When I told them this is true, they jaws dropped to the floor. I just assume many cars around that time did not have a touch screen display at base price. I also must mention that the parts are cheaper when shared components are the same across all models, including the camry. But, I will admit, I came close to giving it up for a luxury car(reminding you, I'm 30). I struggled with the delay from the throttle body. Its automatic with paddle shifters. When its in this mode, the shifts are delayed. I have not tried the manual, but I heard is much more fun. However, the car handles pretty well. Some say it drives like a truck. I don't think so. The car sticks firmly to the ground as angular momentum kicks in as I whip around the apex at dangerous speeds. Its a fun little car to be had. And don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Overall, this car is awesome. With the budget I had at the time I bought the car, I thought it would be smart to buy toyota because of its reliability ratings. I'm happy to say I have not had any issues with this car for 6 years. I have plans on buying an Audi next year, but if that car gives me issues, I can always count on my scion tc to have my back.
Touch screen was pretty common at '15. Anyone dropping jaw is delusional. I'm 39, driving a lowered '15 tC... laughing at the luxury bit. As if 30 is old. 🤣🤣🤣
I own a black 2014 TC manual with 66k miles. Bought it for 10k, clean title but it needed a output shaft seal as it was leaking gear fluid. Got that shit done, fixed other small details like sunroof sensor, trunk struts and then added CAI, TRD exhaust, coilovers, pulley, strut bar, HID head lights, headers, 15% tint all around and a short shifter. This car is a lot of fun so far.
I have a 2005 Scion tC, and had multiple people wanting me to sell it to them. I’m always no way, get your own tC. Might not be the fastest, but definitely a fun car to drive. Especially if it’s a manual.
I just got approved for financing on a 2016 Scion TC with the 6 Speed Manual Transmission 143,000kms, it has a minor accident on the Carfax. I asked the salesman about that and he says he remembered the dealership receiving the car with a damage Front bumper, they either fixed the damage and had the bumper repainted or replaced the Front bumper, I have to ask more about that. Long story short, I test drove it and the suspension is smooth and quiet, the clutch was replaced in 2018 it's got a nice smooth engagement from a dead stop. I'm a Toyota car enthusiast, I plan to go all out on the Exterior and a few engine bolt on's. I was thinking about installing Bride racing bucket seats and a 350mm deep dish steering wheel with an NRG hub and quick release kit. I'm definitely keeping it for a really long time after it's fully paid off.
I absolutely love my Tc. And I feel like if it was rear wheel drive, the people would have liked it more. Maybe got more sales too.
I was thinking the same exact thing I love my scion tc the 5 speed helps alot but rear wheel drive would make it fun to drive.

Dude I have a second gen 😐😐
Hell yeah ! Found this out on the Manual Lol!
And here I am, far too old to test that...
Damn it! I just bought a 2nd gen... Guess I won't be able to "experiment" with this feature...
@@salurena0 you can do something super similar on the second gen dude
I have a 2011 tc that I’ve put 198,000 miles on. Zero problems. I sometimes get asked “is it fast” and I just laugh and tell them with “no, it’s just a two door Camry that handles a little better”.
You nailed the video.

I said the same thing before. I put it in sport and ppl ask if its stick shift 🤦🏾♂🤣. Def driving Automatic 🤷🏾♂😂
Good thing that the Tc is not looked as a legend because people would have overpriced them already
Yeah you’re right
Yea BIG FACTS!!
I just wished Celicas didn’t have that head gasket or oil burning issue, or I’d get one of those and these right beside it. I always considered the tC as a type of Celica-successor. Maybe instead of touring coupe, its stands for: the Celica 😂
100%
That's truth,, anyway any car needs a modified motor to make it race car

So I’m a Toyota fanboy, but I bought my first tC at 36 yrs old, I can fit all three of my teenage boys and still have room for my daughter. You were on the money about the Si being the target, that’s my goal is to build it up to handle an Si of the same year.
Target look? Because they're not at all similar
i got my first car in august, a 2014 tc and it will never stop making me happy. it sounds amazing, handles amazing, and the sound system is phenomenal for stock.
I bought a used TC for the low and it has been reliable af. Yeah, it’s not fast or anything, but it do look nice. Good video man
I've got a 2013 Scion tC, absolutely love the car. I've had thoughts about selling it lately but I've just landed myself a nice paying job, and I plan on manual swapping it and finally making it into what I've wanted.
i have a stock 2013 that i bought a few years ago just to drive to work and back, and i absolutely love it
Bought my tC back in 2015, to this day I love it! It’s now on bags, new wheels, tsudo exhaust, lip kit, and other minor cosmetic upgrades. Not fast, but very stylish, reliable, affordable, and fun to drive. I even get compliments and appreciation at car meets! 🤙🏼
Appreciate this video!
I just wanna get some advice before committing.
the first gen has the oil eating problem, otherwise a reliable car
I love this video it really helped me understand the history of these cars. I’m 27 and have had 5-6 mustangs now, had all kinds of 4cyl cars when I was a teenager. But now I just purchased a 14 Tc as a second car to daily while my mustang GT stays the summer car. This will be my first Scion and I’m hella stoked!! Have mods ready to add.
I have a 2007 still, bought it brand new. I am 62 years old and still driving it, I luv it!
I cut the muffler off my 2012 and it sounds insane! Not too loud, not too quiet. The fact that it's slow lets you do a little pull without breaking the speed limit. Amazing little car
Like they day it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. Especially one that handles well. I love the tC
My first car is a 2011 Scion TC paired with a 6-speed manual. Absolutely love it.
I have a 2015 TC and it is one of the most reliable cars I’ve had, fast as hell too when you know what you’re doing 💯
I have a 2015 Tc and it only pushes ~150 hp. Its as fast as your usual grocery getter.
I have a 2015 tC. It's slow as molasses. Nice tires can help, but it's just a slow car. Slower than the 2017 Fiat 124 I had, which is slower than an MX-5. 🤣
I just bought a 2016 release series 10.0 last week and I like it a lot. While they aren't fast, they are still fun to drive.
The 2AR in the second gens are getting some love these days. Frankenstein Motorworks has gotten 270 wheel from his swapped MR2
Omg, yes!! Totes feel you, I don't think I ever want to sell mine, either. I think I'll just buy another one!
Love my 2012 Tc my first car reliable asf and fun to drive making me happy for almost two years now. Love the video keep it up
I never thought I'd end up with a Scion, but back in May I picked up a 2013 tC Release Series 8.0 and I'm absolutely in love with it.
Has your trunk release pulled off yet lol. I have a 2010 btw.
Surprisingly no. I’m pretty gentle with it though lol.
Given I know Prius’s of the same era are prone to the same issue with that, seems like it was (even if in small part) a Toyota issue at the time.
My mom got a stick tc when they first came out. The car was so slow she switched over to an auto Camry which was faster

It’s ridiculous they chose the last two models for Scion then switched for Yaris 🥱🥱🥱
The Gt86 was already there so they dropped the ball on hanging up the tC. Mind you the Lexus RC had the tC body & everything
I love my ‘09. 220k on the dash. Not the fastest but still a little quick and super reliable. I’m not looking toward to people realizing how good they are and these becoming sought after and mark up the resell price.
I boosted my tc and I’m absolutely in love, I’m gapping wrxs at the moment. I want a run with an STI next to see how she holds up
What’s your set up? I’m trying to turbo mine too
@@camkarting13 It’s a t3/t4 maxxpeedingrods turbo setup on 9psi making around 280-300whp.
Still one of the beefiest rear control arm set ups. Nice love our 2016 manual.
I had the 2005 and still have it… I bought another car to take all the wear and tear but I still am in love with this car 🥰
100% agree with you bro! I had a 16 tC & just traded it in for a Wrx.

I love my tC. I feel like a teenager again
Glad you’re ok tho
I’ve got me a 2013 Scion tC 8.0 and I absolutely love it even after 10 years the paint looks amazing the car runs like new and it has one of the easiest engines to work on
Toyota engineers are very smart with engine layouts and serviceability. On top of things not breaking very often anyways
Tc faster than frs
It is in a straight line for sure. More torque
I remember test driving a tc back in 2010 and it was great.
Love the background music, sound like something out of COD. Also makes the car menacing.
Haha you would be right, it’s black ops 1 multiplayer music
Same with the frs, the age demographic they were going for were 18-25 but the 1st 2 years sales were bad, and now we see them everywhere, I owned a 2013 frs and out of the 3 cars I owned that one was my favorite!
I love my 14 10 series manual tc it is the best car I’ve ever own, like who doesn’t want a COUPE w reclining rear seats!

Fun fact Trd made tacoma and tundra supercharger kits: the taco made around 325 hp and the tundra made 500HP!
That’s so sick, TRD is goated
I own a bmw M235i, but when I drove my friend's TC, it actually put a smile on my face, surprisingly
Drives nothing like a Miata. I love my tC, but don't kid yourself. 🤣
The TC was also the spiritual successor of the Celica.
Lucky guy
You are right, but 160hp is still just not that great, and that’s interesting!
@@markroden I have 120. Still gets to 65mph. 😎
Got the 2016 RS10 edition, needs some cosmetic touches but otherwise it's a fun car to drive without worrying about breaking down
I had a 2011 through high school and college, I got my first corporate job and got me a 2015. They do make great daily drivers
Love my 2012 tc. Been pretty reliable even with me being a bit rusty starting off the clutch still feels solid lol 😆
love my 06 scion tc still have it since 09 to now. this car is super reliable and i had no problems with it at all… only did normal maintenance, change oils and tires. i think only thing that died on my car was the starter getting old. it had a lot of room for a 2door. plus i can use the back trunk for lots of stuff. still driving it today really love this car
Just bought a 2013 Tc with 117000 for my son. Glad I did my research on this one and bought it!
@@Vykk_Draygo I actually ended up buying a 2018 Genesis G80 5.0 like a month ago,lol.
I got my tc a few months ago at 16 and I like it and it can do burnouts so its pretty cool
Exactly man they are a great first car for a car guy
I have a 2005 Scion tC, and had multiple people wanting me to sell it to them. I’m always no way, get your own tC. Might not be the fastest, but definitely a fun car to drive. Especially if it’s a manual.
I have a 2014 tc 4 cylinder. I got it at 19 and it’s the best/ funnest ride ever and I get to flex my moonroof and hatch back💯 it’s still a zippy car
