    I am in negotiation on a 2024 vehicle right now and have negotiated down from MSRP just over $2000 - from $35,575 down to $33,250. Good content and walked away with some good suggestions (tips & tricks).

    We recently purchased a white 2024 Honda Civic Sport Touring for 33k, which is msrp price for this color, out the door, cash.
    I know if we fought and waited longer we could have gotten better, but we were done with the fight.
    This of course includes taxes (Texas), fees and nano ceramic tint (they're installing it tomorrow as it had to be ordered).
    I'm in my late 30s, female, and did have some crappy dealers to weed through (one kept telling me to ask my husband for his approval), no car experience, just watched this channel and a few others and stood my ground!

    Lawyers for Americans
    All numbers from a car dealer are useless, most are made up. What you want to know is the total amount for the new car, in other words, the amount the check should be made out for, this amount agreed to by both parties and including the vin number before you go into a dealership. You have to decide whether this is a fair price.
    1. Objectives : Establish total or check price and vin and 6% WV tax
    2. Alternatives : Find dealership with base models in stock or in route that start with the correct MSRP and less insane destination or no destination should be over 600.
    3. Offer or Counter Offer: Calculate your offer

  • @aaronarnold6444
    @aaronarnold6444 3 місяці тому

    When you say “MSRP”, are you including the freight and delivery fee that is mandatory from car makers as part of that? I’ve seen discounts from MSRP, but they always include that mandatory fee as part of the MSRP.

    • @jerrylundegaard2592
      @jerrylundegaard2592 3 місяці тому

      Freight on a new car is always included in the MSRP in the US of A. When you negotiate the price off of MSRP the freight is included. Any dealer who attempts to charge an additional "delivery fee" is pulling a scam.
      Your best move when confronted by such a dealer? Run away.

  • @LordHollow

    Yeah, let's make it like the grocery store: don't charge interest, dealers!

    • @jerrylundegaard2592
      @jerrylundegaard2592 3 місяці тому +1

      Other than BHPH dealers, car dealers do not charge interest. Interest is part of the auto loan. New car dealers do not loan money. The F&I manager will arrange financing from one of the many financing sources (e.g.; banks, captives) with whom they have a business relationship. And, of course, the F&I manager will try to make some money by bumping the interest rate up from the rate the actually financing company offers.

  • @thegonz7833
    @thegonz7833 4 місяці тому

    I cant understand why you would be criticized. You would save 80% of car buyer more than what you charge. Let alone the time.

    • @jerrylundegaard2592
      @jerrylundegaard2592 3 місяці тому

      That is not true. Any reasonably knowledgable car buyer can easily negotiate a decent price and save the fee paid to someone to do it for them.
      Car buying services may be advantageous for some people but certainly not 80 percent of them.

  • @Bmanhp
    @Bmanhp 4 місяці тому

    When you say 7-10% - do you mean off the dealer discount or the promotion/rebate? For example, if I'm offered $1,000 off and an additional $4,000 rebate which ends up being ~8% off total, is that "good" or should I be pushing for more from the dealer discount?

    • @Bmanhp
      @Bmanhp 4 місяці тому

      Just watched one of your other videos that answers the question. For anyone else wondering, sounds like 7-10% off the dealer discount PLUS rebates is ideal. For a custom order vehicle, though, that isn't on the lot, is this feasible or is 2% dealer discount fair? Any avg. percentage off you recommend for custom order vehicles?

    just got an offer for $36,000 OTD price ($34,500+tax+title. This includes discount of $3,600 (1,600 in accessories added and additional 2k discount so dealer was initially asking for $38k) on a Rav4 XLE AWD hybrid. Is this a good deal? Removing the salesman and the comission incentive from automobile purchasing would perhaps prove to be a better system. Can I say that for sure? No, but making a car purchase a simple transaction with 0 hidden fees or reason for the selling party to manipulate the banks or customer to make a bigger profit would definitely earn customer loyalty in the long run and greed not withstanding perhaps save a them a large amount of money.

      It is amazing how ignorant most people are about leasing.
      To a car dealer a lease is a sale. It is a sale to the leasing company at the price the customer negotiates. If you do not negotiate the sale price for a lease exactly as you would if you purchased the vehicle you will make a bad lease.
      The only additional cost for a lease is the acquisition fee. This is a fee charged by the leasing company not the dealer.
      Do yourself a favor before you lease. Look on-line how to compute a monthly lease payment. It is actually very simple. Knowing this will greatly help you avoid making a bad lease.
