    I dabbled in Stand-Up comedy before I was a professional musician & during my first professionally paid comedy show, I ripped off part of Louis' "$20 in my bank account" bit & completely bombed. I did so bad that the rest of the comedians on that show made fun of me for the rest of the night.
    I ended up getting completely drunk and interrupted the show and took it to a completely different direction and shocked the hell out of everyone.
    My mom, dad & girlfriend were in the audience and left out of embarrassment - I didn't make any jokes about them, but my drunken off-color rant caused them to walk out, my girlfriend broke up with me a few weeks later and my parents were so mad at me that they wouldn't let participate in any family holiday get-togethers for 2 years.
    Stand-Up is EXTREMELY difficult to do because all the focus is on YOU and only you for 5 minutes. You need to be on point and not piss off or offend anyone. I couldn't do it in this day in age, because I would get canceled immediately! 💯

    Sweeney and Meaney night would have been amazing.
    Both of those guys have jokes I heard when I was probably like 7 years old, that still make me laugh today. Steve Sweeney's 'Park the car in Harvard yard' joke, and Kevin Meaney's 'Larry Hagman liver and onions' joke are both f---ing classic.

    • @TigerGreene

    • @missmabelbasset4077
      @missmabelbasset4077 2 роки тому

      @@TigerGreene if you search "Steve Sweeney early standup evening at the improv", it's just a minute or 2 into that set.
      And for the Meaney one, I can't find the live set I saw back in the day, but there's a comedy album "that ain't right live in Battle Creek, MI" that has a version of the liver transplant joke, that's an earlier less polished version of what I remember. Still good though, I'd listen to the whole album to get to the bit, because he's kind of a call back master, and his mom impression is a through line that's part of the joke.

    So one of the guys down below is Schrodinger's cat talking about Schrodinger's cat is really fascinating but it's too complex to do here and it's not funny. The following isn't really funny either it's just that I was looking at his name and I was thinking why did Schrodinger have to pick a cat? Couldn't he have gotten himself a little bit bigger box and and made it a pig? Schrodinger's pig. Of course you'd have to find yourself a little bit more U235 cost more money.But I mean when you open the box and you find the dead pig, you could eat the pig. And then, you know, either way it it wouldn't be a failed experiment. In fact I think I might be a little bit disappointed to open box and find out that the pig is still alive. I suppose you could just kill it.
    Have you ever noticed that if you're using the microphone to write these things down if you speak too fast or don't enunciate the microphone thingy can't really keep up with you accurately and you have to go back over it and correct all the gobbledygook crap that is coming out of the microphones tiny little brain this isn't one of them cuz I'm speaking really slowly look it just said cuz cuz that's what I said I really meant because hey this is fun sometime I'm going to speak really fast and then just leave up the nonsense that follows
