Yes there was some risky material there but the worst was Martin Lawrence in 1994. They banned him from the show and that episode was never aired again unedited. I had the pleasure of seeing it live with my mom and sister. It was very uncomfortable watching with them. Martin talked about women not "washing their asses properly" and giving women oral sex while they had a yeast infection and "coming up with dough on your damn lip". It was hilarious but bad.....My mother actually wrote a letter to NBC about how offended she was...she doesn't do stuff like that so that was a big deal.
@@LM-yd1hh No. If Louis' jokes did not offend and did not ride the fine line between being offensive, you would not find them funny at all. Comedy is supposed to push social bounderies, yes, but that means those bounderies have to be there in the first place. You should be happy there are people who get offended at jokes.
@Gatti if someone is impersonating someone then they're usually making fun of that person. If they aren't making fun of that person in some way then it's not funny. It's talented, but not funny. Therefore the impersonator would have to be offending someone, In this case the person being impersonated. All good comedy has to push some type of boundary, if they don't then it's just some lame ass story being told

This is actually the last SNL I can remember where I made an effort to watch it only because Louis was hosting. This was the most surgical train wreck of all time . The execution , the panic, the losing and gaining of the audience . This proves Louis is one of the greats
I think he acted nervous on purpose to make it seem like he changed the subject talking about the mars bar, only to then surprise everyone that he was still on the subject lol
He goes where no one else dares too... pushes the boundaries of our perception of funny/tragic/evil/good... you can listen to him just for a good laugh or even find philosophical elements in some of the stuff he says (seemingly inspired by George Carlin)... we’ll never see his like again
Spencer Schubert chappelle is also pretty good at that, but they're all in their own leagues so it's not really fair to compare them, love em all the same

That was one hell of a journey. He was literally self assessing, and reading the audience while delivering his material, and was able to react and adjust in order to nail it. That was an artistic performance!
@@irvingdiaz6862 Props to SNL and the network for having no apprehension in putting up the clip. I remember when they “banned” this monologue, and there was no video of it on UA-cam. I’m glad it’s here now. This is some serious “laser dodging” Louie is the king of making the darkest stuff funny.
I doubt that ever happened, it was broadcasted by NBC on their most well-known program. If it wasn't on UA-cam right away, it was NBC being hesitant about uploading it. There's no way UA-cam would "ban" this, it's not even that edgy. It's a watered down cable version of Louis CK
the point of comedy is to push that line as far as you can, if the guy doesnt even try theres no point. doug stanhope however forgot his red marker at home and just keeps walking
The way that Louis throws himself on the pyre is definitely rare, and maybe even unique. His ability to frame his scumbag thoughts (we all have'm) and occasionally take some heat for trying (usually very successfully) to make some truly fucking awful shit funny as hell is part of what makes him a far-more-than-tolerable pervert (which he also certainly is). Glad to see that his hiatus didn't last long - hope to catch his act asap.
This monologue should be studied and taught in film schools, how to be a master in writing and delivering materials. He was basically dancing and dodging laser beams in a freakin minefield as he could have easily lost his whole career at that exact moment but instead went away with probably the best monologue in the history of snl.
Chris Rock ? Bitch please.... Chris Rock is only funny because he screams like 99% of the time... that's the equivalent to why you jump from a jumpscare ... it tries really hard.
You are an absolute child, let me google the top 10 comedians of our era, and list the top 5 in chronological order without any substance to back myself up? You did not like his jokes because you were the direct victim of them.
Has to be one of the most daring and most brilliant SNL opening monologues ever. He got the audience to laugh at three of the most taboo subjects in America "racism, religious hatred and child molesters". He may be banned from SNL but that stand-up routine will never be forgotten. Louis CK is our generations Lenny Bruce and Richard Pryor.
W Lee Right on, W Lee. Apparently Hiram thinks comedic craft is tapping the caps lock button on a computer keypad. But to your point of CK taking on the 3 taboo subjects of "racism, religious hatred and child molesters;" I'm assuming the "religious hatred" subject you're referring to is CK's bit on Israel/Palestine. I don't consider that subject to be about religious hatred, but that's besides the point I wanna make here. Sure, racism and pedophilia are kinda taboo and it's of course difficult to do genuinely funny, insightful stand-up on those topics. CK does it here. Burr, Chappelle, Silverman have done it. However, imo, Israel/Palestine is a MUCH more taboo subject than the other two, and is also more difficult to make funny. Palestine has been essentially my concern for quite a while so it's very difficult to get me to laugh on the topic. But forgetting the whole "comedy craft" thing for a minute, I'm absolutely blown away that CK even broached that subject, let alone gave it 2 and 1/2 minutes, in his LIVE stand up from NEW YORK. It took major league balls to do what he did last night. Evidenced by the nervous laughter he got from the joke about what Israel does w/ the missiles we sell Israel (i.e.: kill 500 children in a few weeks last summer...). Or this: "The little one's like Palestine 'cuz she always gets screwed. She gets the worst deals." Brass balls saying that on live TV. How long 'til ADL and the Brandeis Center put CK on their list of dangerous anti-Semites? As simplistic as the bit might have been in terms of the actual conflict (unavoidable of course in 2 minutes...), my hat's off to Louis CK for not cutting that from the monologue. If he had to have it approved before air I've got to assume he got some major push back on it. Anyway, sorry to "derail." The biggest laughs for me came w/ the pedophile bit. I think I woke my neighbors. No seriously. Absolutely hilarious...
In my opinion, the best stand-up alive today. No one can turn a crowd as quickly as Louie. Guarantee that everyone in that audience was laughing harder than they ever had.
This is the most hardcore comedy set I have ever seen. The way that he ropes you in and gets you to laugh at this final, despicable joke is just masterful. Wow.
You haven't watched a lot of stand-up, have you? Norm McDonald, Frankie Boyle, Bill Burr, Jimmy Carr, and the MASTER George Carlin. If you think that's hardcore...well, try them on.
Watch Jesselnik. Way darker. A bit different style though (he is one liner), but still soooo dark. I love Louis, he is my number 1 forever but Anthony Jesselnik is the darkest mindset I've heard so far. Try his "Worst crowd" and "Drop the baby". Also Ive seen one of his bits called "Murder-suicide" somewhere in compilations but I cant find it separately for some reason... Its cool too.
@@mikewestprod none of those are hardcore. Jummy Carr had some hardcore stuff but its mostly nasty kind of "hardcore", sex jokes you know. Nothing hardcore at all about any of the rest of them even though I love most of their work.

@Elle A Libre Who? Seriously, who? Who could hold that monologue in front of the SNL live audience and make it it work. I know you couldn't, because you are obviously a bone-dry annoying bitch
the fact that he gets put in the same sentence as Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby is crazy. On one hand, you have serial rapists that drugged and raped dozens of women for years on end. On the other hand, you got a dude that jerked off while a girl was on the other line of a phone conversation.
Cliff: In all fairness, as much as I love Louis CK, I think that Australian comedian Jim Jefferies would probably be the only one who could easily tell that joke. Jim Jefferies is excellent at dark humor and has told jokes about women getting raped. He’s also one of my favorite comedians.
He pushed it to the very edge in this monologue. Very close to the edge. and he knew it. At the last scene you can actually see some fear in his eyes. What a legend.
@@YanzBra Nah, there's his usual put-on hesitation, but you can literally see him get super flushed in the last 30 seconds when he does the deep sigh. I'd say this was a tricky one, even for a pro.
I totally agree, check out Dave Chapelle's monologue about man rape for instance or the "how old is 15?" they're both hilarious while they're sensitive subjects! These two men are geniuses!
Louie says what he thinks in his 47 year old mind. We've all thought of the worst things imaginable sometimes. Louie just isn't afraid to say it. Its called being a comedian. If you cringed or felt uncomfortable then he did his job.

k i l l e r D L S I support Louie's right to speak his mind. But I do feel a bit jealous that he gets a pass because he's a comedian, but if I said the same thing I would get skewered.
k i l l e r D L S No, his job is to make you laugh. If you cringe or felt uncomfortable and didn't laugh then he didn't do his job. If you laughed without cringing or feeling uncomfortable then he still did his job.If you laughed and still cringed then he still did his job. That's being a comedian, not "pushing boundaries." If boundaries do or don't get pushed in the process it doesn't matter so long as the laughs come. This has to be the funniest monologue of the year btw.
George Henry Somebody who tells people they don't know what comedy means, we call that narrow minded. I was laughing the whole way through. Either everything is okay to joke about, or nothing is, because everything is a sensitive topic to somebody.
George Henry I replied to this "apparently this guy has has no idea what comedy actually means.". I'm sure every comic who makes predominantly offensive jokes knows that other sorts of comedy exist, but they are trying to fill a niche.
I was at the dress rehearsal for this episode. I remember just being like I can't believe this dude just said that on national TV hahaha Louis Ck is a legend.
Johnny CT Dupee I was wondering, when do they do the dress rehersal? Is it like earlier in the day on Saturday or earlier in the week to see what jokes work and which ones don't, to make changes?
undrtakr900 it's pretty much right before the live show, they do it back to back. it's literally the same show, but sometimes if someone messes up, they will make a joke like, "who cares? it's dress"
you would think after they push plagiarism as a big no-no in school so much, people would stop. but no people need glory - even if it's on an internet comment section.
"Not to us, cuz we're all awesome" - Oh man, you can tell he was genuinely worried about this. Like, in front of millions of people on SNL, and no idea if this was gonna fly. And still effin did it. And it's brilliant.
He's often discussed how the seemingly off the cuff, "improvised" looking additions to certain jokes are in fact designed to look that way from the very start. But I don't think that would exactly apply to some of the anxiety you see/hear in his face/voice in this monologue. He knows he's on the precipice of either hearing them all laugh or boo & it's just as likely for either to happen, especially that last bit... After all it's not just him fuckin' around at a random comedy club where the stakes are low & he can experiment, it's a friggin 40th anniversary SNL season finale.
It´s not about liberals, this is serious. It´s about shameless whores, fuck the politics. You make it sound like one can put a whole fist up a republican ladys ass without any disturbance...maybe one can?
I, personaly, am pissed off, that he had to explain the joke. Really? These stupid fucks will groan, because he used some offensive humor? Fuck them, how about that? Stay home, cover your eyes and ears if you are easily offended. "See no evil"... Fuck those people... It is my dream, to see comic(or any public person for that matter) who just says his shit, and don`t try to apologize or explain himself. And people should think for themselves, instead running every word through chart "that is ok, i can laugh at that, that is a no- no, you have to boo this bit." Right now closest one is Bill Burr, but still he explains himself sometimes, so i havet met my "dream" person :)
Heretyk_13. Nah it was hilarious. I laughed immediately as soon as he said it, and i laughed even harder when i heard the reaction of the audience because i know its a very fucked up thing to say, but it being fucked up doesn't mean its not funny. I laughed so hard when he was trying to explain his joke nervously xD I'm honestly against this type of comedy if its done by someone who isn't a professional comedian, it will only be hurtful to other people and will make you look like an asshole and it won't be funny at all. But if its done by a professional, it will make you look like a hilarious asshole, which is something i admire.
Keith Greenan With self-awareness and proper tone that method can produce magical results. But if you lack either of these you are walking into an uncomfortable and dangerous situation for yourself
The Carlin quote also mentioned bringing the audience across that line with you. Which is the difficult thing to do in this era of politically correct sissies.
Louis CK is so true to his craft. He is always risky with his taboo subjects but it’s the very reason I enjoy and respect his stand up. There’s so many angles of perspective to what he pitches that’s you can’t help but find the humor in it.
I'm always astounded when people call comedians geniuses. They are skilled at reading and shaping a room and that requires in born talent at his level, and lots of practice over years, but genius? I don't know...
@@mikechilds4452 Yeah. In order to be a genius you need to think of something that nobody has ever thought of. Or invent a number. Now it's like "I brought a cup in case we need another cup", "dude, you're a genius."

Totally agree, although there are better "bits" in this monologue, as far as comic timing is involved, that "however" is pretty much as good as it gets.
He was making fun of racists who seem to love saying: "I'm not racist, but …" Usually something racist follows. That is also why he exchanges the "but" for "however".
zTxmi I like them both but you can tell that jimmy carr just tries to be as offensive as possible. They're both hilarious but Louis C.K has so much more class. He's like a reincarnation of George Carlin.
@Gabriel Godina oh yeah, following a woman into the bathroom and asking her if you can beat off in front of her and when she doesnt say anything standing in front of the door and doing it is totally just being, "a little weird sexually". Its absolutely beyond absurd to try to justify his behavior as a sex act between consenting adults.
Really now that u look back its like ohh shit i think he was serious lmfao. Still love em tho. And i mean its not like he was a full blown rapist. Just liked to jerk off infront of chicks i mean cmon thats not even bad.
This is my favorite eight minutes of stand-up comedy ever. From the first time I watched it almost a decade ago to now, it has consistently made me laugh out loud. Such incredible energy, such artistic risk. The thrill of imagining how nervous Louis must be going through it combined with the audience’s horror and his giddiness just adds to it. 10/10.
Sometimes when I watch this I get a bit choked up. I wouldn't say he's my favorite comedian, but this set is really something special. Every topic is 3rd rail. The jokes hit hard, but the reason why it is special is it is something no other comedian could do. It is someone at the top of their game drawing a line between them and every other standup comedian, and the line is real. Bargatze, Burr, Chappelle, Bamford, Mulaney, Gulman, Stanhope, or name your favorite stand up couldn't get away with this. He has to go so far over the line, and yet get you to excuse him for it. Norm would probably get a laugh from the folks at home with it, but I could see the crowd icing even him for this one. The laugh on "How do you think I feel, this is my last show probably," is so big, and shows the crowd is so aware of the joke, the logic of the joke, and the implications of the joke. It is a dark observation about one of the worst things human beings do, somehow made into something so funny. Louie is so acutely aware of just how much grace the audience is willing to give him. Seeing someone like this, at their best, being uniquely great and at the top of their field, is something worth marveling at. Other times I watch this and it just makes me laugh.
The guy standing up the back did laugh and clearly enjoyed the ‘mild racism’ humour! And why not - it was funny and it creates more dialogue about a difficult subject that should be addressed. Louis is comedy genius. 😍
Sascha Rouillon I know it’s funny that’s why I said it’s funny I just think it’s even more funny that while he is making a joke about it I’m literally doing it
I thought this was hilarious. He wanted to make people feel uncomfortable and he did. George Carlin - 'I think it's the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately.' This will also get so much media attention.
This monologue was Louis CK spitting at political correctness. When a comedian can make people laugh, even at the most heinous or tragic things, you know he's tapped into our collective funny bone.
We're not laughing *at* the most heinous or tragic things, we're laughing around them. Mainly at the way people handled them at the time and the way we handle it internally. Thats the art. Louis never made fun of the victims. only of the perpetrators. and he mostly led us to identify with the latter category. That is why he is the master of his craft.
He's a supreme craftsman of comedy. Every word, pause, look, rhythm is worked out with precision. A textbook example of how to make a very controversial subject funny and pull an audience with you. Brilliant.
yes a legend comedian rehearses their act right to the T like you said it comes off as he is talking off the cuff natural and expressing his feelings on the spot but no it is all rehearsed comedians actually are very talented actors.
If people weren't so disgustingly fake and pretentious, you wouldn't need comedy to avoid getting treated like Trump. Just call it how it is. They're laughing because they assume he's "just joking". He's actually amazed that they think that and he's hiding it pretty well, but not well enough imo
well at least until two bitch's get pissed off your doing well and and accuse you of asking for a sexual encounter that they agreed to but are suddenly not ok with anymore XD
@@Endlessvoidsutidos Nope. As an "employer/career-influencer", Louis C.K. was in a position to coerce the women, and they knew it even if he didn't. IF he didn't fully appreciate how much of an asshole he was being (which I personally do believe), he therefore didn't intend to offend at the level that he did, including offending them at all. That kind of sexual transgression isn't hostile, being (imo) only slightly more aggressive and slightly less funny than streaking. In short, he was being an asshole. That said, those women DID potentially have a lot to lose either by "just walking away" (to which Louis C.K. could have found offense and responded vindictively) or "do nothing" (to which Louis C.K. could have derived tactic approval, not to mention the signal it would send to other employers/boss/co-workers that fucking with you is okay had he been a Weinstein-type). Louis C.K., otoh, didn't risk much of anything (already showed his dick on camera, has a reputation for being "edgy") if the allegations were true. Clearly he isn't Harvey Weinstein at all, and no responsible person - including any of Louis C.K.'s accusers - claim that he was (calm your fucking nuts). He did, idiotically, expose himself (so to speak) to gold-digging whores (as Bill Burr might say). Either way it was stupid, and now he's paying for his actions. That said, if you don't understand the influence of a possible power-dynamic of the sexual harassment of which Louis C.K. was likely guilty (annoying on the surface and not seemingly aggressive, but capable of abuse), feel free to shut your crazy ass the fuck up.
@@xunder3 At the time when it happened, Louis was just another struggling comedian. He wasn't an influencer and he held no power over them. Your entire rant is moot.
At the finale of Saturday Night Live (I can only assume this was a widely watched show in the US) he does a comedy routine covering racism, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and child molestation. This man is simply brilliant. He will (already has) go down in history as one of the greats.
Richer Breault how is jerking off in front of someone abuse? It may be sexual misconduct but not abuse...is it fucked up yes it is but I don't see how its comparable to rape or molestation
***** George Carlin set the standard for legendary comedy. His insights on government, religion, history, and human nature are just unparalleled. Comedy would not be what it is today had it not been for him. I will say that today we have some great comics that could emulate him with time if they persist in their works, but they'll have to give their life to comedy as did George Carlin.
@@o2xb He's not making light of pedophilia so much as of pedophiles. He never took a shot at a victim, or tried to make doing so funny as a function of that victimhood. Taking an absurd angle to rationalize the perspective of the villain might not be your style, but to state that there's *nothing* funny about *any* topic just isn't true.
You should definitely check out his series 'Horace and Pete' as well. I think he's always known he can write totally gripping drama as well and with H&P he does it. One of my favorite series ever.

The jokes in this monologue are sensational, but I'll give you some advice: Don't try to repeat them. I tried to be funny with them at my father-in-law's party and my girlfriend's whole family looks at me and treats me differently since then...
Definitely part of it was the delivery, but a good deal of why it worked was also just that he's Louis lol. My condolences, I know the feeling (although I learned it on slightly less dangerous jokes to bomb with haha)
Ahahahah same thing happened to me. I made a joke at the Thanksgiving dinner table one year with the in laws and the brother in law's family and guess what...they're all now former in-laws. Not because of the joke but the joke didn't help.
This is how you execute taboo topics. Coming here after Burr’s SNL opening he’s getting burned for. Love Burr and agree with his take, I think maybe he just had to commit stronger like Louie did here.
the problem with Bill Burr is that he bases his comedy on his cocky attitude, while louie does it in a more humble way so people can relate, even if he talks about the literal worst things. I liked bill's standup but no can really quite match what louie can do
Louis was obviously a little better comparing these two performances, but Burr had a had a whole audience with puckered ass holes. Or gaping. One is a metaphor, the other is literal. 😂😂

I actually knew the Jean Baptiste he's talking about, I'm pretty sure. Louis grew up in Newton Mass, and I was in adjacent Cambridge MA around the same time. There was a guy "Jean Baptiste" that used to cruise and loiter around Harvard Square which was a teenage boy hangout in the early-mid 80's (skaters and punks), and hit on many of us, but not overtly sexual. His modus operandi was to invite us to coffee or dinner (there wasn't a McDonalds around). With his french accent and lack of any overt sex talk he just seemed like someone sophisticated (although he had a pretty run-down car). went to dinner with him when I was 16, at some sort-of-fancy restaurant that had no problem serving me lots of Martinis. Then he suggested we go for a walk, which we did, then he suggested we go hang out at his apartment but I said I need to get back. He just said "okay" (internally probably "Curses! Foiled again") and took me back.
@Jesus Hong There wasn't a McDonalds in all of Cambridge. There was a Burger King a few miles down the road in Central Square, but that may have been beneath even a pedophile.

It almost feels like another comedian dared him “do something on child molesting”. Then he’s like OK. And pulled it off to the shock of everyone.

That line is a child
the point of comedy is to push that line as far as you can, if the guy doesnt even try theres no point. doug stanhope however forgot his red marker at home and just keeps walking
As Seinfeld would say, this is a comedian tap dancing over 20 laser beams.
If the audience's moans are any indication, it sounds like he got hit a couple times.
A comedian dancing successfully jumping over 14 laser beams
@@CPTHAP yeah but when the moans immediately get drowned out by an ocean of laughs, it's worth and makes the save even better.

See That's what mean. That isn't funny so imagine the skill to take a mindset like this comment and make normal people laugh.
W Lee i Think hes a carlin more or less.
W Lee He's banned from SNL? How do you know, did Lorne officially say so or was there an article or something?

Cliff I think that Ricky Gervais could've told that joke and made it work. But I tried to think of a second person and came up blank.
the fact that he gets put in the same sentence as Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby is crazy.

He's often discussed how the seemingly off the cuff, "improvised" looking additions to certain jokes are in fact designed to look that way from the very start.

I was molested as a child, and I thought this monologue was the BEST SNL monologue in a very long time. Louis CK is hilarious!
TMI...sorry :-/
@@dij7878 right there with ya dij. just don't go over there, thats where he lives...
Very well said. I watched it live. It was simply awesome.
cuz we're all awesome
Lol mild racism is funny
Meanwhile during the whole joke I’m looking at the two black guys behind him hoping they laugh
The guy standing up the back did laugh and clearly enjoyed the ‘mild racism’ humour! And why not - it was funny and it creates more dialogue about a difficult subject that should be addressed. Louis is comedy genius. 😍
Sascha Rouillon I know it’s funny that’s why I said it’s funny I just think it’s even more funny that while he is making a joke about it I’m literally doing it
Lol....my barometer was the black woman on the right.....and she was laughing at everything.
well the point of the joke is that Louis is that bad guy. it’s not just racist to be racist
dockoston I know that I’m just pointing out MY mild racism because I’m hoping the black guys laugh at it thinking they wouldn’t
This is arguably one of the best SNL monologues of all time, for multiple reasons
I thought this was hilarious. He wanted to make people feel uncomfortable and he did. George Carlin - 'I think it's the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately.'
This will also get so much media attention.
Dont u ever compare carlin to this mexican "wanna be white" hack.. carlin is top 5 all time. Piss iff
BlackLatinCeaser He gets it. Carlin was of his time and Louis is of his. Let the dialogue happen.
BlackLatinCeaser I just quoted Carlin, I didn't even compare the two. How do you read that as a comparison lol
sniktu Agreed
BlackLatinCeaser CK > Carlin
come at me bro
we will never reach this level of comedy ever again
This monologue was Louis CK spitting at political correctness. When a comedian can make people laugh, even at the most heinous or tragic things, you know he's tapped into our collective funny bone.
Joe Rogan does/did it. Doug Stanhope, Jim Norton, other comedians in that vein.
hes catholic mexican
+James Bond Well, there's Jimmy Carr. He's on another level when it comes to being offensive
try out Bill Burr. That guy makes fun of sad and tragic things all the time, and he is just killing it.
We're not laughing *at* the most heinous or tragic things, we're laughing around them. Mainly at the way people handled them at the time and the way we handle it internally. Thats the art.
Louis never made fun of the victims. only of the perpetrators. and he mostly led us to identify with the latter category. That is why he is the master of his craft.
i was molested as a child.. and yet i thihk this is one of the best openings for snl ever.
greenrolaids I'm so sorry
VIRTUUUUEEEE!!!!
how do you distinguish between somebody actually being decent and virtue signaling?
By thinking you know everything.
greenrolaids lol how do we know your probably a psycho or gonna be
He's a supreme craftsman of comedy.
I’ve been a fan of Louis C.K. for quite sometime: this was the MOST I’VE EVER LAUGHED at an SNL opening monologue. Be safe everyone 🙏🏻
Lol yes be safe, don't go near the child molester's house
"Not to us. Cause we are awesome."
Don't know about the crowd but he sure is.
That’s the line. It’s about our hypocrisy, that we’re all good because child molesters are all bad
@@paulsouth2604 yep but I think he had to throw that in there just for safety lol
@@hendy24 seems spineless
The best opening monologue SNL ever had. There are no boundaries in comedy.
well at least until two bitch's get pissed off your doing well and and accuse you of asking for a sexual encounter that they agreed to but are suddenly not ok with anymore XD
@@NiceGuy678 oh it seems like you were there, thanks for letting us know.
Giuh no problem.
@@xunder3 At the time when it happened, Louis was just another struggling comedian. He wasn't an influencer and he held no power over them. Your entire rant is moot.
" hey you interrupted me, I was saying something racist" lmfao
I've watched this numerous times and I still laugh at this like it's the first time I watched it.
I think lately I laugh even harder, I guess because I know it by heart already !!
At the finale of Saturday Night Live (I can only assume this was a widely watched show in the US) he does a comedy routine covering racism, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and child molestation. This man is simply brilliant. He will (already has) go down in history as one of the greats.
doone See about that...
this comment aged terribly
Muhammad Alrashed not really, his allegations are extremely mild and consensual and many ppl will see that with time
Greatest comic mind in the world today. Louis is a Buddhist teacher sent to teach us all about the dark sides of life. Utter genius.
Dave Frank oh and how he’s taught us about dark sides. Lol
You were saying?
Hmm.
His thing is about embracing the dark inside of you and make it funny.
Richer Breault how is jerking off in front of someone abuse? It may be sexual misconduct but not abuse...is it fucked up yes it is but I don't see how its comparable to rape or molestation
Not one of the greats. The greatest SNL monologue ever
Dave’s is pretty legendary as well so I dunno about that.
YouAlreadyKnow Duchovny?
I'll stick with "one of". I love it, it's excellent. But Norm Macdonald and Dave Chappelle are both killers too.
This is the best monologue for me too...it was really good.
The greatness to not only write and rehearse this entire set, but then absolutely nail it on SNL's 40th anniversary. All time great performance.
Already the best comedian to ever live.
10 years ago already...And he keeps outdoing himself! I cant believe how many times i almost died of laughter with this guy :) pure legend
Dave Chappell
.....hell no , didn't laugh at this shit once
talesin- god of the internet True, but Louis is the closest guy we have, and the right one to take up the mantle.
This is what comedy is supposed to be. Talking about taboo topics!
nar nothing funny about pedophilia
@@o2xb nah that shits funny af
@@o2xb He's not making light of pedophilia so much as of pedophiles. He never took a shot at a victim, or tried to make doing so funny as a function of that victimhood.
Taking an absurd angle to rationalize the perspective of the villain might not be your style, but to state that there's *nothing* funny about *any* topic just isn't true.
@@xunder3 you are making light of it if you can find humour from such a situation
@@xunder3 your comprehension skills are below par.I never said any topic but of pedophilia specifically.
Just finished LOUIE, it was great, it made me laugh to tears to almost cry from sadness, very easy to identify ourselves with the character.
Spiri7ualShi7 Its the Most REAL series i have ever seen. And I think thats whats he went for.
Joe Fawkes 100% I hope he can do like 20 seasons because that show is synonymous with greatness
You should definitely check out his series 'Horace and Pete' as well. I think he's always known he can write totally gripping drama as well and with H&P he does it. One of my favorite series ever.
decade later and the Israel Palestine joke still lands 100% lmfao
Oh yeah, that problem ain't going anywhere. To resolve that conflict would require the ignoring or abandonment of much of what is written in centuries-old literature, considered divine. Ain't happening
Seems like you are making a joke here with this comment- throwing it out there
The delivery of the joke is everything. Plus they might know you as a different guy and the jokes seemed out of character.
It definitely needs to come with a "Don't try this at home" warning
This is how you execute taboo topics. Coming here after Burr’s SNL opening he’s getting burned for. Love Burr and agree with his take, I think maybe he just had to commit stronger like Louie did here.
the crowds are just getting worse and worse now
the problem with Bill Burr is that he bases his comedy on his cocky attitude, while louie does it in a more humble way so people can relate, even if he talks about the literal worst things. I liked bill's standup but no can really quite match what louie can do
The funniest part of Burr's was the crowd -- Louis's stood on its own.
@Scruff Looking Nerve Hurter The white woman jokes definitely had a bunch of awkward laughs --
Louis was obviously a little better comparing these two performances, but Burr had a had a whole audience with puckered ass holes. Or gaping. One is a metaphor, the other is literal. 😂😂
That's the funniest standup I've ever seen

But you’re right still
He nailed the spirit of a comedian who's really lived and experienced.
Wow that Israel and Palestine gag was sooooo poignant...

Who the fuck refers to a word as a "cunt word?" What does that even mean?
A word that cunts say.
Wow!!
Big if true
You're pretty good at lying. Good job!
There is no way Louis used his real name
