- An analysis of "Head Over Feet" by Alanis Morissette, one of my favourite songwriters of all time. How does Alanis's music subvert the listener's expectations, to create a visceral response in the listener? Watch to find out!!

I love this song and was looking for somebody to help me understand what makes it so great. I didn't realize the key change until I looked up the chords. I like how you tied the parallel minor (B flat) to the "head over feet" lyrics. I also really like how you explain the brilliance of using that IV I V (F, C, G) progression to transition between the chorus back to the verse. Another thing that I love (and I was wondering if you were going to talk about), is her signature amazing phrasing, particularly the runs on "liking that" and "I give you credit for." I think the way it jumps straight into the chorus is one of the most powerful moments in the song, so it makes sense not to have a bridge. However, I do wonder if it could have done with a Middle 8/turnaround, perhaps because I'm not a huge fan of the harmonica solo in place of chorus 3: it feels to me like it loses momentum there.
I’m here for your passion for Alanis ! (And a Sara Bareilles reference ! )

Sometimes at the end she sings "ya hi ya hi." What does that mean and what language is it?
