Can't argue with that statement. I gave a copy to a female friend who had just gone through a messy split with her partner. Told her that listening to this album is gonna so help you get through it , help you vent your feelings. It worked wonders for her.
Because her point from the very beginning was her song about ironies has no iron he's in it and if somebody was late to the party to just now notice that is the irony of it.
Her voice - Its just so pretty and takes me back to the 90's when I was kid. I cant describe it. Ive had "its like 10000 spoons when all you need is a knife" burned into my brains since 1st grade. Just something about the way she throws her voice and her facial movement singing is so beautiful. She has that 90's swag that can never fade. TIMELESS BEAUTY. They changed “You Outta Know” entirely in the musical to be adapted to a girl talking about her ex girlfriend finding another dude and it’s really simple but means so much.

+notforprofittho Completely of topic but you say God and man in the same sentence and all I can think of is the movie Dogma where god is a woman and Alanis at that.
+notforprofittho Well you can keep him in the US and in exchange you all have to promise not to try to take Charlie Brooker. And if you could also take Jamie Oliver as well, that would be spiffing.
An old man wants to go out and play Gets the vaccine and dies the next day It's gorilla glue in your hair, but they shave your head It's an anti masker, ending up dead And isn't it ironic, don't you think? It's like snooowwww, in a Texas town It's a zoom meeting, but without any sound It's wearing a mask, when there's noone around And who would've thought, it figures.
No we dont. I dont wanna hear any WOKE BS! Ruining this gem of music history. Fuck all the PC, WOKISM, LEFTIST, ANTI-AMERICAN, TRANS, FLAT OUT DEMONIC brainwashing going on with our youth these days. LETS ALL GO BACK TO THE 90's WHEN WE TOLD IT LIKE IT WAS! For example: Do you menstruate? WELL THEN YOU AINT A FUCKING WOMAN BRO!! NOW GET OUTTA MY CHILDS SIGHT AND LEAVE YOU OPINIONS TO YOURSELF!
One: This is hilarious. Two: Alanis is ageless and her voice, even after all these years later, her voice is still phenomenal. Three: Not only is James funny as hell, his voice is amazing and he is super cute.
She is absolutely timeless! A talent people unfortunately didn’t grasp right away. Beautiful voice, soul, person. This song & her will always be a classic 🫶🏻
It is called "irony of fate" people and the song pretty much decribes situational irony. Irony is not only a rhetorical device but especially in colloquial speech people call it irony when life is playing games with you...
While you are right that there is such a thing as irony of fate, and that irony isn't merely a rhetorical device, irony of fate still involves an event that is contrary to expectation. For instance, an Amish person dying from being electrocuted is irony of fate, while an Amish person dying from being run over by getting his beard stuck in the wheels of a horse carriage is merely unfortunate. Most of the examples in Alanis Morisette's song don't even qualify as irony of fate. "Rain on your wedding day," for instance, is just a damn shame, not irony of fate.
Imagine you are a girl who was being told all her life that her wedding day is going to be perfect and she is going to be a princess and all the stars will align on that day, birds are singing, sun is shining - basically you can't wait for that day to come! Now after years of struggling to find someone to marry to begin with and a lot of hardship in the relationship, you both finally make it to that wedding day (of course after you turned into bridezilla planning everything meticulously - cause this is your fairytale day!). BUT the unexpected: Rain. Now, of course, it can rain on a wedding day just like on any other day but isn't it ironic how something as trivial as rain can easily ruin all of that particular girl's dreams? She went to any lenghts to make that day perfect but life can just ruin all her efforts at its whim. It is ironic how we humans try to plan everything and have expectations that in the end can be destroyed so easily. That is what Alanis is talking about. That's the irony of life!
That's not irony though. That's merely tragedy. If the girl moved to a place known for being particularly dry and sunny, like the Sahara desert, and held her wedding day there specifically in order to have a rain-free wedding day, but then it turned out that not only was her wedding day one of the few days it ever rained there, but it also just so happened that at the same time it was sunny back where she moved from, see, that would be irony of fate.
This is pure gold and James Corden and Alanis Morissette are National treasures. Notwithstanding the fact that they’re British and Canadian, respectively.
This made my night and took me to my way back when. That green album Jagged Little Pill is still my favorite. I also love that Alanis music grows with her. 🥰
At that time, it was so amazing to see a Canadian Artist reach that level of International fame! I also loved that she was so beautiful (gorgeous face, long hair while often wearing a torque, & tall, lean body) without having to sexualize everything the way that other females did (E.g. Britney Spears, Christina, Etc), and it was even more incredible when they created a Broadway Musical around her music, called, “Jagged Little Pill.”
+Patrick Staal I'm assuming you're referring to her age. She's only 41. But she has that look to her that's probably going to still be pretty at 71, just in a different way.
+Liam O'Quin There is a significant portion of French Canadians who have the "always look the same regardless of age" gene..... I grew up thinking it was normal until I really got to see some anglos age... ;) "Morissette was born June 1, 1974, in Ottawa, Canada,[10] to teacher Georgia Mary Ann (née Feuerstein) and high-school principal Alan Richard Morissette"
@@MlleJulliette It's like remembering that Ironic has no ironies and thinking that's wrong. So they mention it in this parody but a commenter misses it in this song. See what I did there.
Yeah people noted that a long time ago. However, if you go back it it, it actually is ironic, it's just not ironic in the way people expect. That is, any unfortunate event is ironic to the person experiencing it, and this may, of course, prompt amusement.
this channel used to have her sing Head Over Feet solo when she was on James Corden but for some reason they deleted it. its relatively easy to find this episode online though
She was a SUPER good sport for doing this because I remember when that (great) album came out, most people were saying, “Hey, wait a minute. None of these things in this song = ironic. They’re just examples of bad luck.” 😄 BUT the fact that there wasn’t anything ironic in a song TITLED “Ironic” was truly … IRONIC, if unintentionally so. 😅 Well, Alanis is missed. She was a unique singer.
+Nathan Snyder nope still not ironic. It would be ironic if Alanis didn't already have a history of not understanding Irony and instead was renowned for her grasp of Irony. For example if she was a professor in Irony. Interestingly if she had used the word "ironic" correctly, that would have been ironic.
+Alexander Pace Why does it even matter? The song came out 20 years ago, she has been revolutionary in the music industry, and she even realizes that she isn't using irony correctly. Not her fault that the song became a huge hit. So how about we don't act like pieces of shit and just be entertained.
It's songs like these that make me wish I could go back in time! The 80's-2000 was like the greatest time in music, pop, culture, and the world! I feel like I stepped into an alternate universe, and I'm not happy here!
This has put the biggest smile on my face. I love her and James the way you keep going on and on is just cracking me up! I haven’t laughed this hard in a long time
been to see her live??? I just did for MY FIRST TIME on the 2nd!! I flew to Las Vegas from San Francisco!! It was was amazing!! She headbangs and jumps up and down and runs across the stage...it's great :)
***** Yes and no. I grew up through the 80's and could not stand most of the music. I look back now, and there were some decent bands, but I couldn't name two dozen like I can the 90's. Today? Same thing. There's a few standout bands that I'd pay to see in concert, but if I was only old enough to go to Woodstock 94, that would have been.. as Green Days said "The time of my life".
It’s like she just got off stage in 96’ to do this late night show thing and then going back on tour. She hasn’t aged yet looks more beautiful now with a great sense of humor.
Mr Corden, I know that due to the volume of postings here that neither yourself or your team will ever see this comment. however I must express my gratitide for your team posting this video. The lyrics on the show is 2020 relevant, no?
An old man wants to go out and play
Gets the vaccine and dies the next day
It's gorilla glue in your hair, but they shave your head
It's an anti masker, ending up dead
And isn't it ironic, don't you think?
It's like snooowwww, in a Texas town
It's a zoom meeting, but without any sound
It's wearing a mask, when there's noone around
And who would've thought, it figures.

Yes please !
What are you even talking about? She’s sold over 60,000,000 albums
I love how the font they use is the same as the stamped on Jagged Little Pill's booklet.
Greetings from Brazil.
Alanis Morissette. No BS, pure talent and originality. A rare find in today's world.
yes… she's still so talented and beautiful
I have never seen a woman so beautiful, talented, amazing as her. And, as drummer that went global, I have seen many. Bless you Alanis
Saw her last summer. Wonderful concert.
Carpool with Alaniiiiis! please, por favor!
+Rayssa Pinheiro por favor means please
+sphumi Isn't it ironic.
+sphumi why say "please please"?
yes!
+Rayssa Pinheiro .. I have to admit Alanis is only one of three singers that has ever given me goose bumps. "You oughta know" I mean me ,lol
How can you not smile at this!!!! So great! Such fun!
I love it!!
"It's singing Ironic/but there are no ironies" 😂
HAHAHAHA
@cococ1014 • If you are american, perhaps you meant International Treasures. She is a National 🇨🇦Treasure for us!!!
the dude at 1:28 with the giant fro is going in lmfao

This made my night and took me to my way back when. That green album Jagged Little Pill is still my favorite. I also love that Alanis music grows with her. 🥰
Alanis your voice is still so beautiful! I love this song. My mom and I used to sing it together (before she passed).
After 14 years, she hardly looks like she's aged... 😍
Holy shit! Alanis Morissette looks phenomenal! What the hell is she on and where can I get it?
+Patrick Staal I'm assuming you're referring to her age. She's only 41. But she has that look to her that's probably going to still be pretty at 71, just in a different way.
+Liam O'Quin There is a significant portion of French Canadians who have the "always look the same regardless of age" gene..... I grew up thinking it was normal until I really got to see some anglos age... ;)
"Morissette was born June 1, 1974, in Ottawa, Canada,[10] to teacher Georgia Mary Ann (née Feuerstein) and high-school principal Alan Richard Morissette"
seriously! when I saw her, I was like "Time machine?" this woman hasn't aged at all. she's absolutely beautiful.
+Patrick Staal It's all the green slime she took to the face when she was younger.
+Patrick Staal after all this time she's still all that and then some and a bag of DNA too.
Congrats youngsters you just discover Alanis !!! enjoy !!
I loved it!!!!! She can literally sing her hind end off!!!
Fav song is the hidden track on “Jagged Little Pill”
She's so gorgeous and that voice is just as amazing as ever :) Still one of my all time favs.
God she’s amazing and James killed it as well. This was awesome love you both.
The fact that the original song "Ironic" contains no ironies is, in itself, ironic.
It's not tho
They touched on that in one line, I think.
@@MlleJulliette
It's like remembering that Ironic has no ironies and thinking that's wrong.
The song even anticipates the pop culture objection: 'and isn't it ironic, don't you think? ... and yeah, I really do think'
I love James . He is so funny., and can sing. Miss your music alanis morrisette
I really would have liked to hear one chorus with only Alanis Morissette.
***** I would like to hear the quality of her voice after 20 years.
Saw her live in 2009 and she still rocks like in 1994
this channel used to have her sing Head Over Feet solo when she was on James Corden but for some reason they deleted it. its relatively easy to find this episode online though
2:13 had me dying laughing so hard. This is the best funny song remake ever!! 🤣
Rosario Perez I was literally dying😂😂😂
Top two misused words: ironic and literally.
Check out James Taylor's "Fire and Rain" remake.
Try this one: ua-cam.com/video/VJg4rwDkkBA/v-deo.html
i havnt laughed that hard in awhile. i think the neighbours are curious
Alanis was the jam back in the day!! She is true talent
She is still so gorgeous, my inner teenagers heart goes pitter patter like a blast from the past. 37 and I still have a crush lol
man cordan is killing it. Really great great for the late late show. Btw, put this on itunes and i buy it!:)
+TheFreemind You're one sad fuck among many.
+Ren Jay LOL.
+TheFreemind www.youtube-mp3.org/#v_id=6GVJpOmaDyU
I was expecting her to finally use the word "ironic" correctly.
+Shona McCarthy Isn't it ironic? Don't you think?
+Shona McCarthy And you fail to realize that that very fact is what makes the entire song incredibly ironic?
+Shona McCarthy "It's singing Ironic but there are no ironies." The end of the song :P.
OMG she's singing so beautiful and also effortless
Alanis is a fine wine she just keeps getting better
Alanis is a fucking legendary woman!
Hell yeah!!!
Who in their right mind not like this?! Her voice is still awesome! I just love it.
jagged little pill, best album ever, still got it 20 years later
This has put the biggest smile on my face. I love her and James the way you keep going on and on is just cracking me up! I haven’t laughed this hard in a long time
Jagged little pill is my part of my dna. This is brilliant.
+Vani Casals Same here :)
I remember being 10 and playing this song on loop. The whole album is great.
+Franklin Mena Did you get the "go down on you in a theater" bit then ? ;^p
+idiosyncrazy1980 LOL
I actually did, had dial up internet and cable back then :P
This was brilliant.
Alanis still looks so damn good.
I've been waiting updated version of Ironic for years, this is gold lol. and Alanis is still so beautiful like she is not aging at all!!
Does she ever age? She looks the same as she did when the original video aired
i thought exactly the same:)
Mark8675332 a little bit but barely. She ages nicely.
I was thinking the same... attractive and now I look as old or older. I was in high school watching her music videos.
Mark8675332 probably cause she's vegan
Today she looks better!!!
Her voice is so beautiful!
Gosh her voice just gives me chills still to this day ❤️
been to see her live??? I just did for MY FIRST TIME on the 2nd!! I flew to Las Vegas from San Francisco!! It was was amazing!! She headbangs and jumps up and down and runs across the stage...it's great :)
Mid 1990's: Best era of rock music.
Thank you Canada & Seattle.
+SharkByte LLC I know Right
***** Yes and no.
2manysecrets I love this
It’s like she just got off stage in 96’ to do this late night show thing and then going back on tour. She hasn’t aged yet looks more beautiful now with a great sense of humor.
Mr Corden, I know that due to the volume of postings here that neither yourself or your team will ever see this comment. however I must express my gratitide for your team posting this video. It has truly brought warmth where it is needed. A very good job sir. It deserves more recognition as it is truly a zeitgeist representation of our times.
