I had the same reaction last night with alocasia silver dragon. I just washed my hands very long and put hand sanitizer and the itchiness went away. I used leca for my corms, this is my first time doing this. Very exciting. Do you know if I should add water to my leca cups? I just had them washed and soaked then removed it and it was just wet when I added the corms. I covered with another cup and it’s moist inside, is this enough? Any tips are appreciated! 😊
I'm curious to know what type of allergic reaction one would have? I'm asking because I had an unexplainable allergic reaction. I'm now believing it may have been my elephant ear that I recently purchased. I handled it with bare hands. At the time, I wasn't aware this could happen.
That might very well have been it. They contain oxalate crystals, that can provoke an allergic reaction. Usually it is just if ingested, or in contact with sap, but if you are very allergic, just contact with the plant itself might be enough. I imagine that they might contain some other active chemicals as well, possibly differing from species to species, going on what was said in this video about Black Velvet specifically provoking a reaction. If that was what happened, you might need to be careful with philodendron as well, as they also contain oxalate crystals. But gloves and possibly long sleeves if handling a big plant should do it. Be careful not to touch the outside of the gloves when removing them. (I'm allergic to all sorts of stuff, and accidentally touching the outside of a glove with something icky on it suuucks! )
What happened in your allergic reaction? How scary!! I’m watching this having done corms and that’s pretty scary! Do you have a link for the cups/domes you recommend or it doesn’t matter?
You're always so pleasant to listen to
So cool I have never seen anyone do this before. So neat to learn! Thanks for sharing!
thank you so much for watching!

I totally get a reaction from handling corms too! It stings so bad, i need to start wearing gloves too 😅
it was the worst itch/burn ever! Gloves make it harder but I don't want that reaction again ha

Where did you buy your cups? They're not the same ones linked in the description.
That is awesome! Love it! Where did you get the little plastic cups?
I got these from daiso but linked some very similar ones in the description :)

Where did you get these cups/domes? Did you purchase separately
.?
I've had the same reaction with the black velvet
I wonder if it's just more potent on that variety?

Where is the update video? Thx
Would it be bad to dip the tip of corms in growth powder?
Not a bad idea. I'm curious if anyone has tried this before.
Do you rinse your fluval first?
Yes you are supposed to rinse fluval stratum before using it. It also states it on the bag it comes in.
