Subscribed. Always came across some videos and reviews of yours, but after watching these auction vids, I'm in. Good stuff man.
Thank you! Hopefully I can live up to the expectations!
You have no idea how helpful this was!!!
I’m literally shopping used reels.
I think the moral of this story is get Reel lucky 🍀
Mow low 🤘🏼 these toro greens mowers are made super well.
That Bermuda is looking good Bret can’t wait for summer 🤘🏼🔥🦩
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Help me out. That flex is it an electric front reel?
1000-1600 are belt driven yes?
Great video Brett. I started counting every time you said really thinking it might be “reely” and we were going to have to guess like Jeremy’s last video 😀
One other good tip with putting a dormant machine back in service is to set the reel to knife fairly loose and backlap the rust off it before going for a final setting.
So glad the mower worked out for you. 1/16” that is tight.
Yeah man I could barely get the tape on there to register a reading!
I cant wait to see what you do with the new yard this year. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Jesse!
Pretty good series on buying auction mower.... Walked everyone through process from bidding, shipping, and 1st tug. Good job man!
Thank you sir.
Looks like you made a good buy. I'll bet that thing will look and perform awesome with a little elbow grease
I got really lucky!
Great video just got a flex 21 and needed this video
Glad I was able to help!
That’s a sweet mower. I love the Toro Flex. I think my lawn is just too small to justify one though.
It's a beast!
Hi, this DeWalt tools. We saw this video and heard your comment about giving you a call. We just wanted to reach out and see what a good contact phone number was so we could call and tell you never to mention our name again. Thanks,
DeWalt
Legit loved the “The Impossible” song clip though
I laugh but you probably do have a Dewalt contact 😂🤣

I’m not that cool
Don't sell yourself short.
Great video Brett. Mower is cutting nicely man.
Thanks Ron. We'll have to get on behind it to see how you like the floating head!
Did you have to adjust the rear roller height on the cutting unit? If it’s cutting that well with just jacking up the front roller, Color me impressed!
Great Vid Brett! Looks like you lucked out, just a bit of WD40 and quick scare with the reel and you were on your way! Now I see why you wanted the Flex Head!, You Def. needed it until you can get to leveling that new sod in the summer! Again this and the last vid were something I had never seen before in the Lawn care U-Tubes community, they were both very informative. Appreciate the content! Peace and God's Love! Chad Upstate NY
Thanks Chad I really appreciate your input! I've wanted to really have original content this season.
Not planning on reel mowing .....however I enjoy your vids. Great job
Thank you for watching!
Great info buddy!!!
Thanks my friend!
Good stuff, big dawg!
Thanks Ned!
Good luck with the new lawn this year :-)
Thank you!
I don't know. I don't have these issues with my Fiskars lol :). Great buy bro. Should be fun to use.
I think it will be!
first thing i would done clean offthe rust the re adjust the bedknife if rust is on tje knife it will throw off tje cut next wipe tje bedknife with..trans fluid to stop rust
Good stuff Bro ! Any thoughts on time table for leveling ? Keep the content coming man !
I picked up a drag recently and plan to cover this lawn in sand in the next 2 months or so.
Good find. Yard is looking good.
Thank you sir!
Soon to be best lawn on UA-cam again!
Thank you jef!
@@Brettsgrasscapades love your videos Brett how’s Florida been treating you?
Hey Brett. I have a Greensmaster Flex. I would love to a comparison between your Greensmaster and Greensmaster Flex. I’m thinking about getting a Greensmaster 1000
I would suggest a different first step for folks testing their new/used reel mower.
Loosen the bedknife off so it doesn't touch at all.
Use a piece of wood (a stick) and pry up and down on the ends of reel.
Look for the reel shaft moving, wiggling.
If it moves, the end bearings need replacement and you will never set the reel to bedknife properly until those bearings are replaced.
Great info Wayne! I'll have to do this.
@@Brettsgrasscapades You are probably are just fine but folks that find a reel mower cheap or discarded might benefit a lot from this because that mower could be discarded in Frustration.
How many hours should one expect these bearings to last?
@@lawn2learnThey will last a very long time if you don't pressure wash the grease out of them and again, back off the bedknife and turn things by hand and feel if it turns smooth or crunchy.
On simpler reel mower the bearings are low cost and old mowers might have bearings that have an adjustable "cone" on one end of the reel shaft that you can adjust to take up slop.
@@lawn2learn I was thinking the same mate
Nice vid Brett. I was checking out the same auction but I’m holding out for a gm1600.
I hope you are able to get one!
That's really amazing mower I didn't see it in real I'm inocent of it
Great video, I'm just days away from having a yard again. Do the transport doohickey things hit your flower bed curbs? Thanks dude.
In a couple spots they do.
I have that same mower and tape measure..... I guess I am doing it right
Brett question....Mowing 1" ... GM 1K or a Flex with a the additional HOC accessory to bring it to 1"... Yard isn't perfectly level but not horribly unlevel...
What HOC are you going for down there in Florida? Congratulations on getting what is appearing to be in pretty good condition.... You going to YardTool color it?
The flex will give a more even cut but usually will have an 11 or 14 blade reel and will not cut well at 1" so the 1000 would be a better option.
I'm at .5" and I think that's where I'll stay.
Good buy Brett
Thank you Grace!
I just bought the same mower, and have the same problem… except my reel isn’t engaging. It starts, then stops…. Any advice
I'm picking up two reel mowers next week, they are just dickered.
Great video. I’m in the process of searching for used reel mower. What auction sites do you recommend. Thanks!
Hey Matt thanks for watching! I did a video right before this one on buying from an auction you can find it here: ua-cam.com/video/uar-OSVPhx4/v-deo.html
They do these auctions quarterly I believe.
Did you move?
Haven’t seen you use the ole Swardman Electra lately. You plan on keeping it? If not, holla at ur boy lol.
I would have kept it for sure but it was on loan!
That's was a great buy. Would love to own one or at least try one out.
Thanks for watching!
Good info - thanks 🔥🔥🔥
Glad to help!
Really good content! 👍🏽
Thank you I really appreciate that!
Thought for a minute you may have ask the Lawn Rebel to fly down and help troubleshoot.
Missing the PRG ?
No way I wanted it fixed not broken worse.
@@Brettsgrasscapades LOL ....you are killing me :)
Lol first major problem, IS the reel mower!
Reel?
So what does it max out at 1/2, 3/4? But all things aside you sure got lucky on the mower, all it needs is a good pressure washing and cleaning
I got really lucky! It maxes out at .5"
You can get a high height of cut kit that will allow up to 1”.
👍👍👍🤘
Does everyone in Florida have pink flamingos in their yard, or is it on loan from the boss?
That one traveled with me from utah!
I've checked out the Weeks auction and there are some great deals but aren't the shipping cost like $800?
Depends on where you are. I paid 170 for shipping.
@@Brettsgrasscapades That's probably why. I live in the Northeast.
Reel??
How long until you are mowing barefoot there?
Wow
I thought you already had some really nice reels? Did you sell them off?
I sold all but 1 of them before the move.
For what you paid, I think you got a great mower! Lawn seems kinda bumpy in some of the clips.. my imagination?
Yes very much so. I'll be leveling here in the next couple months.
That's gonna be a fun task for sure! Maybe LCN can bring his zero turn and the gorilla cart to make it easier? I forgot how big your yard is but it looks like its a pretty big one
I've got 15k. I've got a zt and just picked up a drag. We'll get it pretty!
Forgot about your z.. sounds like you got this under good control. I hear this guy called the lawn rebel is an expert at leveling and if you need any advice I'm sure he can help you out😂
You going to maintain that height all year?
Thats the plan.
First Aussie 😁
As usual!
Can I mow next time??
I guess I'll allow it.
I told you Brett about the reel!
Well the more I watched I’m now wrong. But the clutch could also be going, the southern reel mower has videos on his flex 21 and replacing the clutch.

It seems to be functioning properly at this point but time will tell. Thanks for watching!
I think the mower is broke.... I didn’t see any stripes..... ew lol
Maybe soon. Grass needs to grow! It's been too cold.
@@Brettsgrasscapades I’m just messing around, we’re all used to the rpr
First
So close!
First?
Unfortunately you are. Haha
@@Brettsgrasscapades ha! Unfortunately, I appreciate ya. 😉
Still watching but you've got my attention watching ya messing with the mower.
First.
You always are.
You sure are sweating a lot more :)
It's cause I'm fatter.
@@Brettsgrasscapades That's not what I meant at all brother. It appears you're still getting use to those Florida temps
Boohoo
