  • So you're thinking about getting a reel mower? I have picked up several mowers over the past two years and have wanted to compare them for a long time. There are several factors to keep in mind when it comes to picking out a reel mower. In this video I show the Toro Greensmaster 1600, John Deere 180b, Jacobsen greens king 522, Mclane 20 inch, Sun Joe electric and manual reel mowers.

thanks for the comparison. im looking to upgrade from my california and mclane reel mowers up to a greens quality machine. The toro seems to be my first choice based on reviews so far.

You’re right about the Mclane. I have a California trimmer and outgrew it to an Allett and I’m about to outgrow the Allett too. Great video.

Man this is what I needed to see! I've been thinking about a McLane but will hold out for a greens mower. Thank you for this one!

Thanks,I donot know if they are still made but king-o-lawn was popular in the southwest, very reliable easy to maintain. 5 hp,21"cut hade a clutch for drive speed and a sulky option.just thought you may want to know.

Everyone thought I was a nut for trying to mow 11k sq ft with a manual push reel mower, and guess what I’ve been doing it for a month now lol. It’s not as bad as I was led on to believe but I’m hooked on the reel now. Good video man thanks for sharing your problems with us. I mean collection 😜 shout out to striperman!!!

I have had a Jacobsen 526 greens King for a month. I upgrade from a mclane and the difference is huge. Only small things I see is the washer on one of the transport wheels was worn away so that wheel will slip until I get a new one and the guard above the reel came lose on one side and needs rewelded. I would love to get a Toro and JD to compare

I can't seem to find any greens mowers or even the home mowers as cheap as you were able to find, except for a Jacobsen 118. Based on your reviews, I'll continue the search.

Brett, this was a huge blessing for my friend and I. He wants to get a McLane and I’m telling him that they are overpriced. Most are selling for $600-1000 now used. You might as well get a toro gm-1000 or even the John Deere. I have a John Deere riding mower and it’s spectacular. They are on top of their game.
