Nice I just picked up a used Mclane the other day
That’s awesome!! I’m excited to get this season rolling!
California Trimmer is built like a tank!
They look very stout! 💪🏻
Nice job bro. Allett :)
How could I forget the Allett?!
Nice pick up. I think you will enjoy it thoroughly.
Thanks!! Looking forward to the 2021 season!
Nice video! Do you know if the parts for the 20” home mower model with the yellow handles will fit on your commercial model?
Not totally sure, but I’d think so. Thanks for watching!
Heck yeah brother! Congrats. Appreciate the shout out about the Cal Trimmer. Nice job on the one take! That's right up my alley!
Thanks bro!! I figured I’d give it a shot, and it turned out alright!! 👌🏼
Excellent tips! Great Video Don!
Thanks man!! Ready to tinker away on her!
Great video Don! Congrats on the new mower.
Thanks brotha, I am so excited for this season!! 💪🏻
Nice! Looking forward to see what that mclane brings to the lawn!
Most definitely!! Thanks for the support!
I passed on a McLain about 2 years and I regret it so much. I was a bargain. Hopefully one of this days i find another bargain like that.
Be patient and keep your eyes peeled! I found mine on Facebook marketplace!
Great info! Definitely a lot to think about when buying any mower, but especially on an expensive reel mower. 👍🏼👊
Thanks bro!! 👏🏼😎
Man this video is spot on w advice. I didn't know all this when I bought the same exact real mower. But, I learned it all....lol.... The hard way. I spent hours cleaning that stupid carborator and could have bought one for a lot less. But, she's up and going. Good advice w everything you said!
Thanks bro!! I need to take the carb off and clean her up some more! I’m also sending some views your way for the install of the reel roller, your video is very helpful!
@@donslawns1 thanks man! Appreciate it!
Seems like overkill for such a small patch of bermuda. Nice looking machine though!
Thanks!! I have plans to possibly expand the Bermuda!
Nice down and dirty breakdown 👌
Appreciate it bro!!
That things a beauty mate! Some phat stripes coming to the screen this spring!
She's been chugging along!!
Great video! I started with a Fiskars reel last season and now waiting on my cali trimmer to be delivered on Thursday. The grooved roller from Reel Rollers is waiting to be installed.
Next mower purchase is a greens mower.
That’s what I’m talking about!! 👏🏼 Thanks for watching!!

Yessir!!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Could you tell us how much we should be looking to buy a used mclane for? and how much you got yours for? i remember a few years ago they used be in the $150-250 range but now everyone is selling for $400+
Hard to say what one is worth nowadays with such a low supply of used McLanes on the market. I was able to get mine for $300, then I bought the grooved reel roller and added that as well. I would try to not spend more than $400 on a used McLane right now, but some people may feel comfortable spending more.
@@donslawns1 thanks for the reply Don, your video is a major help trying to look through most of the overpriced rust buckets on craigslist and facebook!
Nice find! I have to replace the two outside wheels that the unit rolls around on when the center wheels aren't engaged....not looking forward to that. Will be following your reel progress for sure.
Appreciate it bro!! The wheel swap looks like a major pain... I will have a couple videos all about my McLane coming soon, excited to put her to work!
Congrats on the reel mower Don! 🔥
Thanks bro, I appreciate ya!!
New sub: Good stuff man. Good to see somebody else keeping it reel out here in Corpus. Keep up the good work bro 👍🏻
Thanks for the support!!
Welcome to the club! I’m with Travis, thanks for the shout out to Cal Trimmer lol. Glad to see I’m not the only one putting my stimulus check into my lawn/garage. Jk of course. Wink wink.
Heck yeah!! 💪🏻💪🏻
Great video man! Looks like a commercial series? I could’ve used this advice when I was shopping for mine last year. Always hit up the Executive Surf Club when I’d visit Corpus!
It’s a 7 blade, but not sure if it’s the pro series! It has been painted prior to purchase- and not a great paint job... maybe something I redo down the road!! I’m excited to be a McLane guy though!!
Oh- and Surf Club is the spot! 🤙🏼
Your people might find Toro Sportlawns, King-O-Lawn, Cooper Clipper and other side wheel reel machines.
Tires are a big deal on them as, for the Toro, no one makes them any more so tread on the tires is important.
The bedknives are shaped like a lying down, small case j.
If the bedknife looks straight, walk away as there is no more life in them.
I had a great machine given to me because the owner didn't read up on how to adjust the chain and belt tension.
It is done by shimming the jack shaft and moving the motor backwards and forwards so don't discount and good looking old reel that has frustrated the previous owner!
Good pointers!!
Lots of good info here! What’s the HOC range on the mclane? I saw an older beat up one on FB marketplace recently and they were asking $400. Not sure if that’s even a good deal or not. Worse condition than this one. The one you have looks pretty clean.
The manual states they can cut from 1/4”- 1-1/2” HOC, so it’s definitely in the money zone for Bermuda!! Mine has a crappy paint job on it, but very little rust!!
Congratulations Don welcome to the club!! What HOC are you going for this season?
You are gonna love that mower. 👊🏼
Will you raise it up and cut the St Augustine?
Probably 1/2” on the Bermuda, going to keep the St. Aug up at 4” I think- so probably a no on the McLane cut. Lol
🤣👍🏼
Are you going to be the first person to real cut St Augustine? To be continued LOL
😅 not sure yet.... 😂
My yard is mainly bermuda that I cut at 1/2" with my John Deere greens mower, but my side yard is St. Augustine. I cut that St. Augustine at 1/2" with my greens mower all last year, and it honestly looks fantastic. It's happy as can be at that height, and I just don't get it haha
@@MrMadman7 that’s awesome! I’m actually planning a couple of test spots for the channel. Thanks for stopping by!!
