I have never seen a tutorial where the creator of the video actually explains what the nodes do, and what happens when you plug them into different nodes, great job, man!
This was very clear! Not only did I learn the specific replication of this effect, but I learned a TON of "why" and "how" along the way-- you did a great job of explaining verbally and visually the steps you took and why. Neat!
very good tutorial, I liked it a lot, it looks great to express strong emotions and power up of a character I think it would be interesting to see how to make impact frames for things like artillery fire or very powerful blows
I could imagine using a cube and then that cube transforms into some railgun and blasts... Only if I knew how to make cartoony gas from the railgun and a smooth transition I would do it ;)
So you mean you cant type in "#frame/2" in the value node ? That is strange, but try to copy it from this comment and if this doesnt work as well then please text me on twitter and i will try to help you further, its more comfortable to chat there than here in the comments. Or if you want you can google "drivers in blender" and try to debug that yourself there should be clear explanation how to use drivers in blender nodes, maybe my broken english isnt enough for this :/
