- Learn how to call to bucks during the whitetail rut and get their attention. This weekend the Orange Army takes to the Missouri woods looking for a big buck chasing a doe during the rut. Some of them... okay most of them will bring some calls with them in hopes they can call that stud in to their setup for a shot. But many of these hunters will be calling in all the wrong ways. In this video we go over three tips for calling during the rut.

Totally agree with you on NOT grunting. Maybe on private property that has light pressure but on public everyone and his brother is grunting and rattling every 5 seconds and most sound like crap like they've never heard a real deer. If I grunt it's a very soft quiet short grunt. All those hunting shows where they blow the buck roar 5000 that sounds like a screaming calf and a 200 inch freak nasty shows up are edited junk. Better to sit there quietly on pressured land, if you did your scouting you should be in a good place. Cool tip on the can.
Tying a 2" diameter by 2' long branch off center to a haul up rope can allow you to make ground thumping noise from your tree stand while you call.
Good tip!
This was awesome thx again
Glad it helped!
A few years ago, I had a deer that came in and stopped about 5 yd shy where I needed him to. He then just paced back and forth inside this tree line 20 yd either direction. I'm assuming he was trying to smell me, or see me. This went on, for 10 or 15 minutes until it got dark. It was cool, but very frustrating
Yep that's probably what it was.
Almost always use your advice. 😁
Thanks! Hopefully they help out!
Hey bud I've been using all the tips youve gave me my problem is not seeing deer it's getting them in range or if they are in range I can't get a ethical shot on them and in my state it's illegal to use calls scents and food plots on public land so what do I do bud? At this point I feel like I'm wasting time and money 😭
Definitely not wasting your time! I think you're on the right track. You just need to make a small adjustment to get in range. Just try to move 15 yards closer where they're most consistently coming through.
@@InformedOutdoors sounds good just put myself in the pinch point 🤞I know allot of people that took them a few years to get their first but I'm hoping I can pull it off in my first season lol
Sounds like you’re almost there!
I hunt on my own property, St. Clair county.
I hunt from a ground blind in a bottom pasture. I put my blind in the pasture where my longest shot would be 100 yds. Would a grunt call be effective from my longest shot ? Thanks in advance.
God Bless Missouri.
I definitely think it would be effective.
