Thank you UncleDane & Co. for creating Uncletopia! They are hands down the best pub servers in the game right now. I am incredibly impressed and inspired by what you guys have accomplished and I hope to be able to give back to the scene in my own way someday soon (not a competing casual server, of course - I could offer nothing of improvement over Uncletopia!). Keep up the good work!
Eventually Uncle Dane will run out of content to cover on Engineer... And then, all that will be left, is for him to get an engineering degree and become an engineer in real life, and build a fully working dispenser to recreate his intro 1 for 1 irl
Nahh he can get an engineering degree but with his extensive network of talented people, he can commission a team to build one instead. Remember it's a 4 year degree hold-out for an engineering degree
@@hunde2430 A really crammed 4 year degree hold-out, I might add. The necessary credit hours for most engineering degrees total out to an equivalent of 6 years worth of credits. Computer Science is the only one that's a true 4 year and not a "6 year degree in 4 years" situation.
I just wanna say: thank you for all of the nice comments and feedback about Uncletopia! The new servers all filled up within an hour of posting this video, which is a pretty mind-blowing response for sure! I would like to wait a few weeks before making any decisions to continue adding a lot more servers, just to make sure we will maintain the current player base. *However, since we've been getting a lot of requests to host servers in South East Asia, we've now added two new servers in Singapore! Check back on **uncletopia.com** for updates in the future!* We will continue to roll out a few more locations as we decide that demand in those areas would be feasible. Thanks again so much for all your guys' support, and if anyone feels like contributing directly, check out the Uncletopia Patreon: patreon.com/uncletopia
Yesterday I was on Dustbowl with 4 spies. I said "guys, we have too many spies, we won't be able to leave the spawn", and someone said "Welcome to France". Sometimes something good comes from the casual chaos. Still gonna try Uncletopia though.
@@syweb2Actually, I'd say the Uncletopia community is pretty much the best you'll find on any public tf2 server. There really is no bigotry, almost no toxicity, and everyone is really friendly and willing to talk. People who are being rude get kicked pretty quick, too.
to be fair it is funny at first but for me personally, it's a joke i've seen multiple times to the point where I wanna rip my head off everytime I see that shit.
Everyone always said that Uncletopia is better than casual, so.... I'm playing Uncletopia as a brand-new player. And I'm surprised how friendly everyone was. A few players from each team were helping me learn stuff like basic rocket/sticky jumping, trick stabbing, aiming, etc. I'm excited to learn how to play TF2 with y'all in Uncletopia in the future.
I tried tf2 as a kid and was not very good, so I stopped, as kids do. Nowadays I started feeling that tf2 itch again and after hearing about Uncletopia I started considering joining to learn - except there was so much of the "everyone is a competitive tryhard" talk I felt discouraged. Glad to know they're welcoming of new players! Can't wait to try again So thanks for making this comment, I probably wouldn't have tried without seeing it!
there's actually a lot of players like this on uncletopia, cannot believe how forgiving they are LOL. Even me, with an inferior complex, can feel welcomed.
I have found quite the opposite experience, Of the matches I have played, many were complete stompfests and people insulting and berating me when I mention just how imbalanced the teams were. I know people call Uncletopia "better casual" but to me its where tryhards go to stomp all the fun out of the game.
@@SkollTheWerewolf a majority of these experiences come from uncletopia 1 servers my advice is depending on your region go to like 4 5 those servers are the perfect blend of friendly players and meme strats alongside people just playing the game
I'm very glad that there's now UncleTopia servers in Brazil/South America, I've been personally waiting for these to come for a while now, and I can finally tell my friends to come play with barely any more lag than casual! Thank you very much from South America!
man for 20 minutes i watched this video like 'aww man, these servers sound like a blast but id never be able to join from australia :(' then BAM uncle dane with the aussie campaign, thanks for doing this
You could join the American and European servers before with little issue. As bad as Australian internet can be, ping of 150 is probably as high as you'd get unless you're in the middle of nowhere or experiencing issues - I live semi-rural and I never had a problem. It's fucking incredible that there's Sydney servers now though.
You know why almost no one complained about 3 class limit? Because it's the absolute best limit I've ever seen, I can't believe how well it actually works. It's simple and seems as fair to every player (cause every class has this limit, no prejudice against Sniper or Spy anymore).
@@missspider3572 nah 2 makes it too likely you wont be able to play the class you want. 3 strikes a good balance between whining about not getting to play your class and gameplay resulting in a decent balance between power classes and supports and picks.
@@bdcopp It is even worse when the enemy has 3 soliders, 3 demos, 3 heavies, and 3 medics. This is why I wouldn't mind a class limit of 2. Defense usually has the 3 snipers and 3 spies and offense has 3 demos and 3 soliders. Neither are fun to play against.
@@bdcopp Yes. If not for it being a very rare occurence Dane would probably have to limit those classes more. So thankfully Uncletopians make it so it doesn't happen.
I haven't been playing TF2 since Jungle Inferno's launch, but even without paying much attention I've heard that Uncletopia is pretty much the best way to play TF2 right now, assuming it's got an open slot. I think that's really cool that you've created a community server that has become a haven for players who really want a pure TF2 experience in the current TF2 landscape.
That depends a lot on personal opinion. I haven't really played on uncletopia yet, but from what I've heard and seen, it's more focused on the competitive side of TF2, so for people who like casual tf2 more (by which I mean a sort of mix of friendly and competitive tf2, because that's how the official casual mode works), uncletopia might not be the best way to play TF2, but for people who appreciate comp more, uncletopia is probably the next best thing.
@@galegopaulista4564 as far as I'm aware, it doesn't have anything to do with competitive tf2. I've played on it before and it's never been anything like that.
The first time i saw the class limit i reacted negatively, thinking that it would basically make it so that some classes were never available. After playing for a couple of months i can verify that its not a big deal and you can see more variety in the classes, wild medics have repopulated and are no longer an endangered species.
When you mentioned the class limits, I legitimately had a nightmarish flashback to a game I played recently where our team genuinely stacked 5 spies/4 snipers, resulting in a steamroll payload by blu team. Not to mention the swiftwater game I just played involving 6 scouts. SIX scouts trying to assault a sentry nest.
Like Dane said I also think 3 is the perfect limit for 12v12. I've seen servers with a 2 class limit, and I find that can be too strict. With a limit of 2 you can join a game and only be able to pick 4/9 classes because the others are all at the limit.
The only time a bunch of the same class is good is if it’s just for fun and jokes I was once in a team with 95% Spy and managed to get past the first point We lost the second, but it’s a day I’ll never forget
class limits really take out the casual feel though I'll be honest. Even if it's detrimental to your team winning, it's still a lot of fun to just have way too many of the same class running around
I just played in uncletopia today, and everyone there were accepting people who were genuinely chill and relaxed, literally one of the most positive moments i have had in tf2 ever. Thanks uncle dane very cool
And somewhere he and other streamers/UA-camrs can get content without people ruining it. Which isn't a bad thing, it's a mutually beneficial situation. Less to no racism is a big plus and no (offensive) sprays is a big plus for them but it also allows random players somewhere they could play and possibly end up in a video. Sure, selfish but it also doesn't hurt he unintentionally did something that was also a bit selfless.
That's the good part: You don't need random crits for that If what Lazy purple said in one of his videos was correct, as long as you don't deal more than 10 dmg over lethal using explosives, they will ragdoll.
@@TheTC Hey, don't you get tired from all of that stretching? Besides, how do you lie for view when to be lied in the first place (which isn't btw) needed to be view in the video?
Haven't played TF2 in years due to the bot crisis. Wanted to play some lately, but the casual experience is completely horrendous. Went onto a community server browser site tonight and saw uncletopia servers. I had heard of you before through my brother, but had never seen any of your videos myself. Saw they were all pretty well populated, and clicked join on one pretty blindly. I was immediately thrown into a round that was starting in 5 seconds, and it was a blast. Truly captured an experience that feels so vanilla and so clean! Played a few full games, was a great night. And yes, we did have some goofy TF2 moments. Removing sprays and random crits doesn't remove the wackiness of TF2, it just incentivizes players to use other means to have fun moments. But when it really came down to it, everybody stopped dancing in the spawn room when the round started, because everybody there really just wants to have fun playing the game!
Honestly, Making Uncletopia was probably one of the best decisions you could've made when it comes to TF2, its a great alternative to casual, for when you really can't be bothered dealing with the bullshit of casual mode. and unlike faceit and creators.tf, has actually stayed pretty popular.
@@Star_Bright1 Same here. I frequented them when I lived in the East Coast last year, but ever since I moved to the West coast it's been practically impossible to find a proper creators server to play on that isn't running MVM or something.
@@aman2078 their custom MVM servers are very populated but their others? not so much. occasionally you might find a quickplay server that's full but not for long. besides that nobody plays on the other servers like vanilla+, balance mod, and silly event servers. like literally nobody
Damn he really did what FaceIt and all the other “new casual” servers wanted to do: make tf2 playable again. All it took was not being a money-hungry corporation. Who could have seen this coming?
@@gordo6908 This. He has a backup plan. Not to mention he probably has donations stored in a rainy day fund in case things aren’t panning out for a few months. He has a cushion to land on in case he has to make a transition.
In terms of class limits: from my time I’ve seen no complaints on the servers. Whenever I join a server and see a class is full, most that comes out is a little sigh but that quickly disperses after choosing another class. I legitimately think the limits are benefit as it forces at least a medic, heavy or soldier to make pubstomps a little easier.
The problem with a 2 class limit is that would feel very restrictive for the generalists. 3 spys is excessive. But 3 demos scouts or soldier is fine even the optimal strategy.
as someone who really recently started playing, ive had a great time playing on the uncletopia servers. i get to start learning the mercenaries in tf2 in a way that is just w+m1. and it feels great. so thanks for creating these servers. and thanks to the people who help run it. cant wait to play more on them in the future either.
Thank you for adding the Tokyo servers! I'm in the army and currently stationed in South Korea for a year, and playing online games is super hard since most of the games I play have their player base in the states. Thank you for giving the player base what valve couldn't, fair and balanced casual TF2
A friend of mine was stationed probably at the same base in SK last year sorta during the Covid peak. It was VERY interesting playing CSGO with him lol.
I absolutely love uncletopia, everything that happens there feels earned, or deserved. I can recognize my highs and lows and how to improve, while having a balanced map pool that isn’t 2fort or harvest. Best semi-competitive server ever
17:19 That Scout distracting the sentry's aggro is such a sight to watch. Thank you Uncle Dane for opening the servers in Singapore, now I can actually play TF2!
This is just the setup. Soon he embeds his videos directly into the server connection screen, forcing the viewcounts to skyrocket, and that sweet sweet ad rev to pour in. Truly big brain.
I don’t think anyone noticed at 6:42 Dane forgot to remove his original voice clip right before using the one I timestamped. So he repeated himself. Dane is insane
I'm watching the video tomorrow, but I just wanna say: I love the uncletopia servers, especially in the early morning, when casual is filled with bots. The only possible gripe I have is that the skill level of all players are remarkably higher, which can sometimes be frustrating, especially when you're simply not as good as the enemy players (or the team has a sniper who descended from the heavens to unleash his holy mad skillz upon all those not wearing the same color shirt as him). But, hey, in most cases, it's very fun, and actually coordinating with your team is amazing.
The average skill of the uncletopia will be lowered (thanks to the addition of newer servers across many regions), so thankfully us lesser beings will be able to play in uncletopia and not get stomped by enemy gamers
I've heard so much positive reviews about Uncletopia, and It's pretty unfortunate that I can't play it since I play on the SEA Servers but as long as the fanbase is happy, I'm fine with it. You've done a good deed.
He actually hosted a SEA server during early 2021 but it unfortunately didn't get any traction, causing the server to be put down for good. It's like seeing a glimpse of the best future before the portal closes forever
I remember back when I could play on uncletopia with no lag, but my PC's getting old so I stick to calmer games and sometimes come back to shooters to keep my skills sharp, once I get my pc up to snuff or get a new and better one. I'll definitely start playing again because if was super fun ( I also loved the fact that I could use my weapon skin mods)
Good luck with the pc situation, I dont know how it's going rn but hook luck anyway! (I have a laptop from 2015 that can hardly run minecraft without lag so I might get kicked from uncletopia but whatever!)
you should be able to play games without significant performance drops even years after you got your pc, might just need to clean it up a bit and maybe replace thermal paste etc. could also just be a driver issue, hardrive issue or just a server issue
@@Celatra I got a new computer now, this doesn't say the whole story, when I was younger I was not very smart and 0ut about 600 viruses on that computer, I got rid of most of em but some still remained
this is really great to see, using a large platform both to help improve the playerbase in terms of gameplay and community safety is awesome, keep it up dude
@@CunnyMuncher the servers (like all community servers) are free from bots unlike casual and they have an anti-cheat set up called STAC, which can't prevent cheaters entirely, but it's at least something and from what I hear it pretty much eliminates most rage cheats that you find those casual bots using, such as anti aim.
Agreed. The 'topia' in Uncletopia is very fitting. Also nice to see you in the comments. Love your content and patiently awaiting that next video you mentioned.
It is really a pitty that creators died out. Along with uncletopia and skial were my go to servers. But glad at least 2/3 are ok, even though i miss some new maps.
I liked creators but i personally think they went too far with the custom stuff, it felt like i had to download a new asset pack every time i wanted to play.
Thrilled to see Sydney servers back, defo gonna jump back in when a slot is available, you and the Uncletopia team are providing real awesome servers and wanted to say cheers.
Honestly you’re servers are just high quality and we know who’s running the show. We can trust in you, invest time into your servers and build mini community’s within.
One change I would like to see: map change based on time limits rather than round limits. It can be frustrating to finally vote in your favorite map only to have the objective rushed and the map switch again a couple minutes later, or to get stuck in a stalemated 5cp game for an hour.
@@AnarchyApple OK, so replace "5cp" with CTF or some other gamemode. Point is that I think there should be a minimum time and maximum time between map changes, just like the old Valve pubs prior to the MYM update.
I just got back into tf2, ironically after watching your videos again, not knowing abt uncletopia. I played like 2 days of casuals and had like 2v2s and 4v4s, and games where I couldn't play spy bc we had 4 of em or whatever. I wanted a stock+ experience, with a large map pool. So i opened browser, searched by nodmgspread and your server popped up. Joined, had a wonderful time, got off open yt and this is the first vid in my feed. I had no idea but thanks for the amazing community
You know Uncle Funkle, you said once that having random crits and random spread disabled would be something players wouldn't even notice, and from what I've played on your server you were totally right. It's still the same goofy ass shooter I fell in love with all those years ago even without the random 300 damage pipe that wipes out half the enemy team from time to time.
I've played this game for.. well, almost 8 thousand hours. I havent enjoyed myself for.. probably.. half of those, but I kept playing due to the nostalga and the one amazing game in every 20 terrible ones. The community, players and physical game are all amazing, but not in its current state. I finally tried out an uncletopia servers after being reccomended them by everyone and I can honestly say, It felt like the good old days, WITHOUT being sarcastic. I only wish there were more then there are, because i dont have the patience (nor do a lot of people i'd imagine) to wait.. upwards of 20 minutes to get into a game. By god is it worth it, but its just not appealing enough for the quick-paced gaming most of us are used to. If I were to ever win money, I would do EXACTLY what you've done dane, whether that be run the server costs for you or whatever, because Uncletopia is the tf2 everyone should love and remember. Also, the financial burden they put you under, even though you may be able to handle it, is incredibly generous of you, but i dont think anyone would complain if you had a donation system (without perks) or ad's on the servers to help with that added revenue, even if you decide to put it back into the community and make even more servers. Thankyou for creating that little piece of history that I, and many, can hold dear to our hearts.
I know this is an odd question, but where did you get your pfp from? I used to use it as my discord pfp a while back, but can't remember the name of the comic
Seeing uncletopia come to Australia is really nice, thanks for adding those new servers so I (and many others in Australia) can finally play a new form of casual
Last time I played TF2 was in 2013~2014, and I downloaded it again sometime this or last week since I've been wondering what the game played like all those years later now, and if it still is as fun as it was back then (it is!); The uncletopia servers are basically the only ones I've favorited so far (my old favs of course all not existing anymore ;_;), they all give a great TF2 experience! Got this video recommended by chance, so it was interesting to hear about the process of this server family being established. Thanks for the opportunity to play some good TF2!
Thank you so much for adding a server in Singapore. Asian casual is dead right now. It's my first time there and it exceeded my expectations. The people are so communicative and fun to play with. Hands down the best community server I've ever played.
Yah I have always felt like TF2 has been different since Meet Your Match as Casual servers have had a much different feeling than the old pub servers. Now only captured in community servers is the since of some sort of community as people are more likely to talk and interact with people in the server as opposed to joining a server to play for a while and leave once the round has ended.
@@bobbyferg9173 I personally prefer modern Casual tho, it allows you to meet more people rather than sticking to the same 3 guys in the same pub, allowing you to improve.
I actually played TF2 for the first time a few months ago and playing on your servers was great! Also, yeah, my biggest complaint would be that the servers are always full. I don't wanna play on some random community server with terrible rules. I want Uncletopia! Edit: Player collision?! I'm so happy that you turned that off!
Finally tried Uncletopia servers and holy shit my guy. I think I'll be consistently playing on these from now on: They're so nice, casual, chill, no bullshit, fair gameplay, absolutely love every feature and change you've added to this!
it depresses me how I can't get past 70-100 FPS in TF2 despite me having a 1660 super and ryzen 5 2600 unless I am playing on a deathrun server. if I run mastercomfig ultra and play on a VSH server, my FPS can literally dip below 30 FPS most of the time.
That’s actually not true. A lot of people have said it but tf2 doesn’t have some complex snow rendering system and as such the snow has nothing to do with performance. The real reason snow is removed is simply to improve visibility and visual consistency with the competitive map pool. Snowy maps used to have issues with 6s players painting cosmetics white and generally exploiting the reduced visibility
@@maestrofeli4259 well you see buddy I have a 120hz monitor and a PC which is very overkill for TF2. I have every right to complain about a game FROM 2007 struggling to maintain a stable framerate on modern, mid range hardware. even a ultra low end config dosent help to improve the framerate. GTA 4 runs better than TF2 and that's saying something.
@@OutlawedPoet dude, i have your same specs and run tf2 at 100+ sometimes 200. I run on mid- high settings and no config whatsoever. This time its your fault
These servers are great to play when Casual isn’t going well! Only thing I don’t really enjoy is how full they are, so that means I can’t have too many of my friends join me on there if any at all. That’s why I usually only use them when I’m playing by myself.
Honestly I've been playing TF2 for about 7 years now like I had a lot of my developmental years playing this game. When I came back to it a couple months ago I was really upset with how unplayable casual seemed to be. When I first tried out an uncletopia server I had no clue it was an uncle dane thing but I loved it. It felt like the game I fell in love with but better, balanced and actually somehow more fun than I remember. Honestly I want to whole heartedly thank you for breathing some much needed life back into the game. I am forever grateful to my hard hatted uncle for that
Dude. This sounds amazing. It's been a while since I've played TF2 but now that I know there's a place to play on that has more than 2 brain cells worth of consideration put in to it, i might check it out. Thanks for fostering such a good community Uncle Dane!
I feel like I need to repeat this whenever the discussion of high ping comes up: Distance between your computer and router can make a bigger difference than you'd think. If your house has 2 floors and your computer and router are on separate ones, your ping's gonna be doubled. If they ARE really far away like that, consider getting an ethernet cable, I got a 50ft one for fairly cheap and can now manage pings as low as 60 on some servers! As far as I understand it, no matter how long your ethernet cable is, it will in most cases be faster than wi-fi period.
Ethernet will basically always be better than wifi because it is much more easier to keep interference-free - other ethernet cables don't impact its stability in the same way that other wifi APs in other houses/units (or even microwaves or baby monitors) do. This helps to eliminate the random bouts of terrible ping that can be caused by radio interference cropping up locally, so if you can always run an ethernet cable
The ping isn't because of the distance, it is because of Wifi as a technology, it suffers from a lot of interference and you often share the same frequency as multiple people in your house, meaning if two devices send a packet at the same time at the same frequency, you both get stuck in kind of a deadlock, which makes your ping rise and u end up having packet loss. With Ethernet however, you have a direct channel with no interference to the router directly.
The script loop at 6:28 was a little weird. This is a great video, it was cool seeing everything that went into setting up your server and how players participated in it ~
Thank you so much for keeping this going. Your servers have been an absolute blessing especially when the bot situation was really bad. No random spread and crits is also amazing. And it feels really nice joining a server knowing that there isn't a million 3rd party scripts and plug-ins running, making the server performance jank and spamming a bunch of ads and messages. You deserve every dono you get.
Seeing that uncle topia is going to brazil made me smile so much!! Finally i can play in the servers of one of my favorite youtuber/uncle Greetings from chile!!!
Tenemos que hacer una alianza uruguaya/chilena/argentina para asaltar los servers brazucas Va a ser como la guerra de la triple alianza pero sin paraguay ekisde
Can’t lie I haven’t really considered playing casual tf2 since 2018 and I’m now very much looking forward to hopping online to uncletopia and having a blast!
It's definitely good! You might need to hit that "Auto-Retry" button for a bit. Maybe relax and watch an Uncle Dane video while you wait to get a slot, but it's worth the wait!
I recently started playing TF2 again, and the only reason I’ve been able to enjoy my favorite game of all time is the existence of your servers. Thank you so much Dane for providing this “no bs” space for the community, most of my fondest memories in this game has been in tight knit and well managed community servers like yours (shoutout to the former glory of 2fort2furious). People like you and mastercom donating your time, money, and effort to keeping this game going are much appreciated by us long time players who just wanna frag once in a while with other wholesome people ❤️
Honestly Uncletopia is the opposite of what I look for in TF2 (I'm the sort of heathen who likes random crits and I enjoy trying new custom maps) but like you said it's just one of many options out there. I appreciate how community servers have had a bit of a comeback (even if it's due to unfortunate circumstances), and I think it's partially thanks to Uncletopia. Creators was the start of this movement I suppose but Uncletopia was the first one to offer a relatively unmodified experience. And so nowadays we have things like Casual.tf which is very much my sort of thing. So, thanks Dane. I don't agree with you when it comes to this game sometimes, but I think you really inspired some people to take action and help improve the experience for everyone. 'Preciate it, pardner.
When you quacked at that Widowmaker on the ground I laughed pretty hard. 21:28 I always wear a Duck Journal and am all too familiar with the "bad aim quack".
Class limit is amazing, I main scout, but scout was full, so I played heavy and had more fun than I remember having. class limit makes strict mains have to break there shell
This is just perfect, thank you for that. The only thing missing would be Uncletopia MvM-Servers. I'd love to play other missions than Two Cities without having clueless teammates or having to pay for Mann-Up. But this is just an idea, for now i'm completly happy with the casual servers.
Haven’t played tf2 in years, I know this is a year old at this point but the passion of creators like Uncle Dane and the dedication he has to make an enjoyable experience for players looking to just have a good tf2 casual experience makes me want to pick it up again
Very interesting to know your perspective on hosting servers :D thank you so much for all the support you've given this community, I'm sure you are aware by now how important your servers have become and I hope more people support you directly so you can keep them up indefinitely. By the way, thanks for opening servers in South America, that rocks!
6:29 You left 2 takes in side by side, and I thought I had stroked out for a second lmao. I think I liked the second one better, had better flow to it :P Still great video and servers when I can get in them.
thanks so much for keeping these servers going. i only play tf2 for like a couple weeks straight when i get an itch to play again every few months or so, and i play on your servers almost exclusively. ive even waited up to half an hour to join so i could play, and not minding one bit since i know im guaranteed to have a great experience playing.
Honestly, thank you for providing these servers. From your words, it seems you've brought to life something I also wanted for a long time, which is just plain old TF2 without any unnecessary stuff. Big thanks to the team!
I keep going to join the uncletopia discord server, then not being able to select a class, then just giving up because I’m too nervous to ask for help. I love the channel Dane thanks for making content that I enjoy, you’re a really enjoyable and educational channel and although I can’t get TF2 right now I feel like your videos are great ‘tutorials’ for the game :D
Brazil has an amazing family of servers called AY just like this; casual minus the bullshit. Very happy to see other places now getting the same experience!
Truly, TRULY THANK YOU for making Uncletopia. This has been, and is still to me the definitive TF2 experience, and the first option I go to when I boot up the game. No assholes, no cheaters, no bots, no obnoxious downloadable fan maps, no hentai sprays, no scammers, no high-ping people across the planet Ultra-Instinct-dodging my shots and killing me while t-posing. You've done something incredibly by just trimming away all of this nonsense, and I can't thank you enough for maintaining these servers.
what a brilliant advertisement; casual TF2 without the bullshit. i played on your australian server and it was more fun than i thought. as it turned out, i had no idea that there were no random crits, but now that i think about it, i'm glad there weren't!
I'm at the class limit portion of the video, and I gotta say, my unpopular opinion is actually that I find class stacking more annoying than random crits. I agree with Uncle Dane 100%, on it being a meme I've seen hundreds of times, and one whose novelty value wore off pretty much the first time I ever saw it happen.
I think the issue comes down to the fact that payload is the gamemode best suited for 12v12. 5cp is awful anywhere but organized 6v6 and koth maps can get really cluttered on a full server. I love attack defend but there's only a few maps up to the standard of uncletopia, like mountainlab and gorge (and dustbowl, for better or for worse). I would absolutely love to see how plr maps like nightfall and pipeline worked on uncletopia.
Yah my biggest complaint about the server is that I'm not too big of a fan of the map pool. But I do have to admit that we are (mostly) getting pretty decent maps to play anyways and payload is one of TF2's best gamemodes, if not the best.
Glad to see that you're managing to hold a population on community servers, I've tried to play a few times and they're not for me as I'm simply not 'good enough' to keep up with the constant stomping but it seems like a lot of other people enjoy them and don't find stomping as much of an issue. Keep it up Uncle Dane and hope you keep making tf2 videos.
The class limit of 3 is so fucking genius, that I'm going to be entirely honest: I didn't even KNOW the Uncletopia servers HAD class limits to begin with. It's THAT seamlessly integrated.
Yeah initially i was against it but after playing it really made the game feel more stable in general, feels like 3 is the sweet spot between some more balanced gameplay while still letting people pick what they want to play.
i always play like if we have 2 soldiers and no heavies ill choose heavy and i seem to gravitate to whatever class we dont have or have the least of, so this probably wont affect me
My only problem is when people, trying to be helpful, take the last engi slot at setup just to upgrade another engi's gear, then switch off when setup is done. I respect the thought but you shouldn't take the last slot for that.

Yesterday I was on Dustbowl with 4 spies. I said "guys, we have too many spies, we won't be able to leave the spawn", and someone said "Welcome to France". Sometimes something good comes from the casual chaos. Still gonna try Uncletopia though.
This happen way too often and that's typical what's wrong with Uncletopia servers : the community itself. And server rules that are too lax.
@@dieusama1798 What's wrong with the Uncletopia community, exactly? I haven't played on Uncletopia, so I don't know what you're referring to.
@@syweb2 nothing wrong, but hes talking about class limits which are on uncletopia
Can't wait to try again
So thanks for making this comment, I probably wouldn't have tried without seeing it!
there's actually a lot of players like this on uncletopia, cannot believe how forgiving they are LOL.

I think limiting to 2 per class would be better tbh, but, 3 per class helps out a lot.
@@missspider3572 nah 2 makes it too likely you wont be able to play the class you want. 3 strikes a good balance between whining about not getting to play your class and gameplay resulting in a decent balance between power classes and supports and picks.
The only issue is when for some reason a team has 3 spies and 3 snipers at the same time.
Its realy cool
That depends a lot on personal opinion. I haven't really played on uncletopia yet, but from what I've heard and seen, it's more focused on the competitive side of TF2, so for people who like casual tf2 more (by which I mean a sort of mix of friendly and competitive tf2, because that's how the official casual mode works), uncletopia might not be the best way to play TF2, but for people who appreciate comp more, uncletopia is probably the next best thing.

After playing for a couple of months i can verify that its not a big deal and you can see more variety in the classes, wild medics have repopulated and are no longer an endangered species.
Can can even witness..... heavies! :0
Meanwhile I had a lovely reminder when I convinced my team to rush the enemy as all scouts. (We won lol)
@@lordderpingtonII 6 sniper mvm moment
Like Dane said I also think 3 is the perfect limit for 12v12. I've seen servers with a 2 class limit, and I find that can be too strict. With a limit of 2 you can join a game and only be able to pick 4/9 classes because the others are all at the limit.
The only time a bunch of the same class is good is if it’s just for fun and jokes
I was once in a team with 95% Spy and managed to get past the first point
We lost the second, but it’s a day I’ll never forget
class limits really take out the casual feel though I'll be honest.

The reason Uncletopia does so well despite it being a "selfish endeavor" is because Dane just wants the tf2 experience a lot of other people want
And somewhere he and other streamers/UA-camrs can get content without people ruining it. Which isn't a bad thing, it's a mutually beneficial situation.

The pro maps are often also benificial for your fps, snow is known to drain fps, that's why maps like product and warmtic use a summer aesthetic.
it depresses me how I can't get past 70-100 FPS in TF2 despite me having a 1660 super and ryzen 5 2600 unless I am playing on a deathrun server. if I run mastercomfig ultra and play on a VSH server, my FPS can literally dip below 30 FPS most of the time.
@@OutlawedPoet buddy, I play tf2 in a 2011 laptop and never get past 30 fps. Stop crying, you already have 60 fps

Getting into an Uncletopia server is like trying to buy a PS5.
It's not so bad with Autojoin. People usually leave after a round ends, so a slot opens up roughly every 10 minutes.
Now there are more servers
Getting a ps5 is way easier

Literally just set auto join and go on a jump map or something
This helps to eliminate the random bouts of terrible ping that can be caused by radio interference cropping up locally, so if you can always run an ethernet cable
heheh my router is literally right next to me
@@sarcasticwhale Well I use my laptop with eithernet and I still get like 5 upload speed and 0.87 download speed.
@@cadmiz same
The ping isn't because of the distance, it is because of Wifi as a technology, it suffers from a lot of interference and you often share the same frequency as multiple people in your house, meaning if two devices send a packet at the same time at the same frequency, you both get stuck in kind of a deadlock, which makes your ping rise and u end up having packet loss.
Finally i can play in the servers of one of my favorite youtuber/uncle
Greetings from chile!!!

YOU ARE GOING TO BRAZIL!
Tenemos que hacer una alianza uruguaya/chilena/argentina para asaltar los servers brazucas
Va a ser como la guerra de la triple alianza pero sin paraguay ekisde
HELL YEEEEESSSSSSS HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE MUCHACHO!!!!!!
El problema va a ser tener los 2 idiomas en el server. Realmente espero que saque otro en chile o argentina para tener uno en español
People like you and mastercom donating your time, money, and effort to keeping this game going are much appreciated by us long time players who just wanna frag once in a while with other wholesome people ❤️
In short, these servers are the reason I came back to the game. Thank you so much for creating/maintain these servers
what a bad taste you have

Australia previously had 0 community servers active. 0. Thank you Dane so much mate i can now play this game again
I legitimately had no idea there were class limits on your servers till now, and I've been playin em for months!
"used to stream on Twitch" RIP Dane streams, gone but not forgotten
As an uncletopia denizen, I thank you for facilitating a lovely community and giving me hours and hours of fun
17:18 That is the first time I see a Scout use Bonk the right way
Honestly Uncletopia is the opposite of what I look for in TF2 (I'm the sort of heathen who likes random crits and I enjoy trying new custom maps) but like you said it's just one of many options out there.
I always wear a Duck Journal and am all too familiar with the "bad aim quack".
Lazypurple has some mvm servers
Paying for expert still gets you clueless teammates 😢

Haven’t played tf2 in years, I know this is a year old at this point but the passion of creators like Uncle Dane and the dedication he has to make an enjoyable experience for players looking to just have a good tf2 casual experience makes me want to pick it up again
Your contribution to TF2 is unmatched, thank you for being the person that keeps so many people interested in this game
Thanks for hosting these wonderful servers. A server in Warsaw would be very welcome :-)
Very interesting to know your perspective on hosting servers :D thank you so much for all the support you've given this community, I'm sure you are aware by now how important your servers have become and I hope more people support you directly so you can keep them up indefinitely. By the way, thanks for opening servers in South America, that rocks!
I have wanted to get into this game because of your videos, and i now want to play on your servers despite never having played before xD
3:13 I did not know this room on pier exists, lol. Thanks for the servers! No random crits!
what the heck
what a brilliant advertisement; casual TF2 without the bullshit. i played on your australian server and it was more fun than i thought. as it turned out, i had no idea that there were no random crits, but now that i think about it, i'm glad there weren't!
We need popular passtime servers. It's impossible to queue for this amazing game mode, and the few community servers that run it are always dead.
What about hydro
I'm at the class limit portion of the video, and I gotta say, my unpopular opinion is actually that I find class stacking more annoying than random crits. I agree with Uncle Dane 100%, on it being a meme I've seen hundreds of times, and one whose novelty value wore off pretty much the first time I ever saw it happen.
i love uncletopia servers, i just wish it wasnt payload 90% of the time. hopefully the new batch of servers leads to more gamemode variety :)
In my experience (LA or SD topia) servers also frequent 5cp or dustbowl.
With the occasional cp_steel every noe and then.
I can only suggest you to nominate your desired map, and maybe people would vote for it.
@@Canukles That's a mentality most helpful players abide by and one Dane fostered himself. People aren't psychic, your best bet is to just say you want to play engineer and help out yourself.
Or dane could go full meme and unlock the class limits for yeehaw man
@@Andre-od5hf When I play casual, it's actually pretty rare for me to see more than 3 of the same class on one team anyways (unless there are heavy or sniper bots) Yeah there's the occasional 4 stack, but for the most part, my base TF2 experience has always been a "soft limit" of 3.
Playing on Uncletopia legitimately just feels like enhanced casual, without all the extra bullshit.
Thank you so much for increasing the number of servers this much; I really like them as my go-to option to play this game nowadays not only because of the absence of cheaters but due to the class limits and removal of random crits making the game feel like a less frustrating experience at times.
6:40 lol double clip, I love seeing these.
