Lex, you are amazing! "The great thing about art is that there's always something in the nothingness." I think that's one of the most profound things anyone has ever said and you just pulled it out of your hat. Bravo!
They never played at woodstock, and as simple as the music sounds they were a full band, three guitarists, bass, drums, piano and three backup singers. The music is of what southerners call a "down home" blend. Van Zant, the lead singer and the leader of the band, never wrote down a lyric. He remembered each song in his head. He also very seldom wore shoes or boots on stage.he said he liked it barefooted. His stage presence is extraodinary, he just mostly stood in one place, never danced all around like a lot of idiots do, he was who he was, he put on no airs, no fake stage presentation, and was a very gifted singer and songwriter. Skynyrd was top notch 1970s honkytonk music. They could hold their own with the best of the rockers of the era, but really could have been in lead of todays country as well. Van Zant was a rare breed, we lost a lot when we lost him.....
A simple kind of man is exactly who Ronnie Van Zandt wrote for, to great effect. Skynard tapped into exactly what the masses could relate to and it was musical genius.
Shinedowns version is not good too me, he trys too hard singing it making it loose its calmness and the story all together with him trying too drag out the notes.
I just love the way this lady loves her some guitar! Dang, she looks like such a blast to hang out with. I hope you two and everyone here knows our Lord Jesus, we all need Him to get out alive!!
The best part of this song is the space that Van Zant gives the music. His pauses are just about perfect. I left this comment before I heard Lex's comment too. Good ear, young woman.
You guys do the best job lex rocks out and seems genuine and brad lets you know if he likes it or not. Most people act like they love everything and I find that disingenuous
I've thought that also, but consider that most reactions are to really exceptional music that is hard to not like/love, IF you love music in general and keep an open mind about new sounds.
Skynyrd's first album was in '73 just four short years after Woodstock. You guy are great keep hearing things for yourself as it's the best way truky enjoy music of all kinds
Lynyrd Skynrd was the name of their Gym teacher, they started the band in high school and their Gym teacher hated long hair and rock and roll so they used his name Leonard Skinner (spelled differently) to piss him off. He died at 77.
I don't know if anyone's told you but Lynyrd Skynrd was a person. He was their gym teacher in high school who told them they were losers and would never amount to anything. So they named their band after him lol and then they became famous. Huge burn.
Even more astounding is that RVT died at 29 with all these songs people know so well and he never wrote them down! He wrote in his head while fishing! Dang he was gifted!
I cry every time I hear this song... I've sent it to my son several several times... He's a drug addict and I just want him to live a simple life and be happy in his skin 😓😓😓

So there is a GREAT cover of this oddly enough done by his son in law. Ronnie VanZant died short of 30 and left a wife and daughter. You two make my day better. I had such a crappy day at work...one of my coworkers walked out it was such a turd of a day. Now I'm home...watching both of you...and it makes my day just a bit brighter. Thanks you two.
She was vovin you was vibin you can't even front ❤️❤️🌻
My momma didn't tell me but this song did. Music to the soul.
Just have to say that you two remind me so much of me and my wife. When we listen to music I hook into the bass groove and lyrics and she's always bouncing around to the guitars and dancing. We've been married for a lot of decades so I'm sure you two have a lot of fun in store as well. Love your reactions to the music that we lived our lives to
I love how into this Lex was. I totally agree about this being simple, yet powerful music. Love your reactions!
I found a new sport to watch . Lex gets all excited about the music , and Brad laughs at her excitement , lol ! Keep on doing what you are doing folks , it is really great !
Lex you have so much energy, it’s so beautiful to watch, it’s fun to watch young people like yourselves enjoying music I grew up with.
How can she groove so hard to the music and still interpret the words.. ? Genius..
I Was Fortunate Enough To Have Seen Lynyrd Skynyrd Several Times,, The Last Time I Saw Them,, They Would Go On & Do One More Concert Before The Crash...R.I.P. To Them All.
Lex, you are amazing! "The great thing about art is that there's always something in the nothingness." I think that's one of the most profound things anyone has ever said and you just pulled it out of your hat. Bravo!
Lex is a ROCK N ROLL Valkyrie! A muse that knows the power the music holds. She knows how to give flowers to the legends
This is my favorite Lynard Skynard song
Van Zant was a rare breed, we lost a lot when we lost him.....
yup that plane crash took so much away from music, who knows how many more great songs would have been made over the years
A simple kind of man is exactly who Ronnie Van Zandt wrote for, to great effect. Skynard tapped into exactly what the masses could relate to and it was musical genius.
Shinedown has a fantastic cover of this song! This song in general just hits deep as a man. It's the truth in the lyrics.
And the " in my house" version is crazy!
Definitely Shinedown’s version is the best!!
Right up there with the original!!
downgrade from Skynyrd though
@@billcephus Musically yes, vocally no. Not saying Ronnie couldn't sing it like Brent Smith, but he didn't.
It's 2:22 in the morning. I have to up at 7:00. I can't get enough of this girl and her reactions. She gets it. She really gets it.
The best part of this song is the space that Van Zant gives the music. His pauses are just about perfect. I left this comment before I heard Lex's comment too. Good ear, young woman.
I love how Brad is concentrating on and loving the lyrics while right next to him Lexi is deep into and rocking out to the music.
I am not a “reaction video” person but I love watching you two listen to and being introduced to all this good music. Good job guys
Girl, you are ALL rock n’ roll. Keep it rollin! Much love. ❤️
It’s the place where everyone finds freedom. Feel it forever.
Cant we clone Lex or something? The world needs more of her! Brad you are a lucky man.
This was always my song for my oldest son. He asked me to sing it at his wedding.
I agree. They are the only ones that I have seen that actually seem genuine.
Skynyrd's first album was in '73 just four short years after Woodstock. You guy are great keep hearing things for yourself as it's the best way truky enjoy music of all kinds
Stills goes hard. Still has meaning. The is the pinnacle of southern rock.
Lynyrd Skynyrd was a great band that we lost way to soon. Loved yalls reaction...👍😎👍
Lex is not acting. She really FEELS the music! Wonderful to watch her.😊
She was definitely a hippie in a past life...😆
Lynyrd Skynrd was the name of their Gym teacher, they started the band in high school and their Gym teacher hated long hair and rock and roll so they used his name Leonard Skinner (spelled differently) to piss him off. He died at 77.
to his credit and theirs they did eventually become friends...
Lynyrd Skynyrd sounds like the cool, laid back version of Leonard Skinner lol
I love how she really feels the music and expresses herself. Go Girl!
This song is so high on my all time list. So simple, so deep and true. Love it.
Singing from the heart - the essence of soul.
One of the greatest songs ever recorded IMO
"You ll find a woman...And You ll find love" that line right there as a married man hits so fkn hard.
Love it .that's why I love blues music it's from the soul
I cry every time I hear this song... I've sent it to my son several several times... He's a drug addict and I just want him to live a simple life and be happy in his skin 😓😓😓
God Bless You And Your Son.
I’m with Brad, playlists aren’t my thing. I grew up listening to albums all the way through and that’s how I still listen to music.
I'm the same way man, I got like 600 cds, gotta hear the whole album, feels wrong not to
I could see how the lyrics were affecting you Brad. Impactful. I hope I taught my son these same concepts. Time will tell. 🙏
Skynard were one of those special groups. They jusd had "it."
A vibe that defined them and amazing musicianship.
Two of the best lead guitarist playing together and make it sound awesome.
Your reactions are rare in that they are done with care and come across as completely genuine. This is not easy to do but it comes so naturally to you two. Being very obviously in love could be the key. Loving my new subscription tonight.
Just Plain & Simple Wisdom Being Passed On..As Richard Pryor Once Said,, "You Don't Get To Be Old Being A Fool",, "Alot Of Young Wise Men Dead As A Mofo"...R.I.P. Richard 🙏 ❤
Brad I'm so so proud of you since the first time you took classic rock to the higher level than your girlfriend she kind of missed it and you totally got it and you're awesome and I love you both
Guuulll, Im 61 and sooo happy to have lived back then. I love how you appreciate our music.
You two look like you actually like each other. You're fortunate to find one another. 2 becomes 1 on so few occasions. Keep it 1. Life's easier that way
What a great,, great tune! Lynard Skynard, sadly, was not at Woodstock. The band got together in Jacksonville, Florida in 1969 and moved to Georgia shortly thereafter. Killer lyrics. Lex always gets into the good tunes and just couch dances like nobody's watchin'! But my friend Brad, my favorite thing in this one was watching you as the lyrics of a song were talking to you. It's was all over your face bro!! That was awesome! AS always, Blessings from Texas!!
They weren't at Woodstock, but I love Lex loving the song and I'm loving Brad digging it as well. Just classic and timeless. Great stuff. I enjoy you guys!
Deftones covered this and it is an AMAZING cover that changes the sound in all the right ways
i didnt know that! thanks i have to check that out
Deftones cover is amazing!
Homie was about to cry. The power of music is beautiful.
The thing with Skynyrd is that the instruments speak to you as much as the lyrics do. Very deep and meaningful.
Brad and Lex also give thoughtful and introspective reviews that are real and get right into it. Excellent job.
So there is a GREAT cover of this oddly enough done by his son in law. Ronnie VanZant died short of 30 and left a wife and daughter. The daughter Married the Lead Singer of Shinedown also from Jacksonville, Florida. for her wedding present her mom gave them the rights to the song and he recorded it. Is truly awesome as well.
