I personally think the creatures are violent because they're a parasite. Parasites need hosts and you're a great flesh suit. Sure, while no ones around they probably just exist without any sort of motivation but then start going wild when prey is nearby. Like spiders. I agree they don't have a set goal beyond just trying to exist as any other species do, but with how they've evolved with natural weaponry it doesn't seem like they only act in self defence. Overall great video, I hope your channel gets more attention and that you improve in future!
Yeah honestly theyre not peaceful creatures. Theyve been in isolation for a long time with no clear way out due to being locked many miles underground and behind multiple security doors that are inaccessible to open to anything besides humans (due to them being bio scans, which shows that the company made efforts to prevent infections from exiting the facility). Theyre just dormant, and act on animal like instinct. They dont think, they only have one purpose, and that is to kill and feed, and the mothers then reproduce, and/or you turn from infection.
That is a good point. The have weaponry suited to that of a predator, not a docile organism. Part of thier reason for just sitting arou.d could just be a product of thier environment. Obviously not a lot of food is readily available down there, so perhaps its just a conservation of energy.
1. Dont really think so. I think its just territorial aggression. They just have hyper aggressive behaviour is caused by the parasite or virus, similar to rabies. But the tongue they have has been theorized to be the parasite. The other theory is that the parasites need to have a NAM-V infected host to root itself and create sleepers. The virus just kills people and doesnt turn them into sleepers. And the parasites turn people but I think they also need the host to be infected. This is cuz there are multiple corpses arnd maps that have a hole in them, which is confirmed to be failed sleepers. So I would guess that those were people uninfected by the virus, but got attacked by the parasite, deemed unsuitable and either the parasite left, or died in the host and killed them as well
I also definitely think the warden is looking for a way to control these things and i think the neonate is the key to it. I just wonder when we are going to encounter ground zero the source of the outbreak or if there is a alpha hive mind deep underground that made the earthquake. Would be cool as hell to have a raid type experience with 8 players going down to kill a giant monster. One thing is for sure tho even if these things don't have an ultimate goal if they get onto the surface i can't imagine the type of havoc they would reek to ecosystems we have only seen humans infected can't imagine what unholy abominations would come from birds, bears, dogs and etc getting infected.
So I bought GTFO on the day it was released to pre beta (or alpha whatever it was). I played through most of rundown 1. Got to the third level. Could never find a team trying to take it seriously and or a team that would properly communicate. That being said a few of my friends just picked it up after some convincing. Hoping to hop on there tonight to make some sense of this lore.
Iridium is mentioned as it's a very common thing found in meteorites. All the things they test are most likely from the meteor impact that killed the dinosaurs. I really don't think iridium is related to the infection.
I'm pretty sure warden is an AI. Just judging by the gear our characters carry it seems pretty trashy. We never start with full ammo. One guy has running shoes and the pants never sound heavy or tactical, masks also seem makeshift. My intuition says this is the apocalypse and AI is the last power structure remaining. It's probably in control of the prison or worker population, having them in cryo stasis. I think its sending people down to recover information about the creatures. Sort of like us and how we play the game and send our characters down to hell simply to understand what happened. Also I dont think these creatures have a vacant goal. Every living creature down to microorganisms have one goal - survival. Again very similar to us as the players, having nothing in game to attain other than our sanity and lives at the end of a run. We only see these creature in the underground complex. It's very possible that this virus has been exposed above ground as well. I'm sure eventually we will receive information to confirm or deny this but I think it is a crucial bit of not existent information.
I believe the Warden is either an AI attempting to reboot the facilities main generator. Or Jason Davies, attempting to have someone restore the facility before bringing in some kind of division to bring it up to full operation again. That the players are actually former miners who were sent to jail for breaching the NDA agreements, and are now being brought here in order to be liberated from their jail time that was forced on them by Dreyfus. Furthermore; I believe that the enemies inside are indeed side effects of the strange biomasses; but they aren't out to fight, only to continue their life cycles in a place that they can't even escape from. 10/10 xD Hope to see another lore video when R4 is completed
Great theory on that R2C2 alarm going off i think this is even more supported by the fact it says security override like someone with administrative access activated the alarm. If the prisoners act up or get too hesitant the warden gives them a bit more... encouragement
Imagine sending people to do the job and intentionally barely killing then in a process. Warden needs replacement. Someone with management and people skills.

If we don't manage to complete our task, if it's because we die, they'll just send a new team, and if it's because we don't want to complete our task, they'll make sure we die so they can send in the new team. It's not that they're terrible at their job, it's just that they're not even trying to keep us alive. Think of it as the D-Class personnel in SCP. Some researchers even kill them for fun because they're often prisioners who were going to be executed anyways, so not many of them survive since their lives are basically worthless, the only thing worth about them being the results they can archieve.

The common "goal" of the monsters might just be what the common goal of the Xenomorph from Alien is. Elaborated as the "perfect species" by one of the androids. Reproduce, which means indirectly kill.
tbh they released Rundown 3 too soon.. I didnt had time to finish the Rundown 2 yet... Still this game need more support n love, consider how good it designed
The syringes probably contain some sort of mutagen from the asteroid. Mutagen makes changes to an organisms makeup. Changes that are seemingly random, lasting, and are extremely hard to cure, eliminate, or protect against.
I don't think they're processing iridium from these samples. With the new Rundown 6 missions we've already seen teleportation to a strange alien world, which some people speculate is Mars. I think the iridium is a trace element present in all the alien life forms and it has something to do with their physiology that we don't understand, much like iron and other trace elements interact with our own bodies.
I do plan on making an updated lore video with the new R4 information, but it'll be a while. Not only does piecing everything together and doing all the research take me a lot of time, but I haven't actually finished the rundown yet. There's still information and terminal logs that I need to discover before I can start working on the next lore video.

I just got into GTFO not too long ago. And I'm trying to gather as much information as I can to help make sense of the game, since it apparently doesn't like to give solid information. I like your theories. They seem very legit. But, I would like to go a different route. Have you heard of Resident Evil? I am thinking that The Warden may be the AI from the those games. And the company is Professor Isaacs, controlling the Warden. And the infection is like the T-Virus. But instead of making the monsters crazed and auto-piloting to kill humans. They rather become stationary, keeping to themselves. Unless they hear a sound. Much like how the zombies are in Resident Evil. Yeah, they auto-pilot. But, they become more terrifyingly mobile when sound is going off. I don't know, this is just me brainstorming, from what I know of other games. I just wish the GTFO devs would clarify a bit on the lore, the monsters, the facilities, The Warden. I'm such a lore fanatic, and desire more information.

Constructive criticism: write a script for these kinds of videos. I can tell you're just winging it and the commentary just seems so dragged out. If you prepare a script to read off of, it will sound a lot more natural. Although that's just me :)
